Cost savings and efficient decompression but needs better cloud integration
Our primary use case for Arcserve UDP is its decompression feature, which helped us save money by reducing storage needs. Despite moving to cloud applications, we have been using Arcserve UDP for backup and disaster recovery Arcserve UDP has helped our organization save considerable amounts of…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is easy to configure."
"The most valuable feature is the duplication."
"Arcserve UDP has a good configuration and user interface. It makes the job of an administrator easy."
"The most valuable features are that it is able to restore quickly and that it is able to virtually restore on Hyper-V."
"The product provides instant and virtual standbys."
"The standard backup and restore feature is most used."
"The most valuable features of this solution are that I can by just one click, copy and paste anything that I would want. I do not have to restore the whole virtual machine."
"It is a very stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"One of the newest features in version 12.1 is malware detection. This feature allows the software to detect malware before initiating a backup job for a server. Although I haven't had the opportunity to personally try it out due to its recent release, I came across it while working on an environment in a cluster for a customer."
"Veeam is the gold standard for backup and recovery. The ease of use and reliability of this solution are real assets. Also, it has an ease of use to work with a third party vendor."
"I think that the scalability is very good. We can't compare it."
"Veeam ONE has proven to be a reliable tool not just for backups but also for general hypervisor management."
"In Veeam backup, the most valuable feature for me is the recovery. It allows me to recover almost immediately while I continue fixing the problem of the affected machine."
"Veeam Data Platform copies data very efficiently."
"It's the most easy-to-use backup replication that I have used so far."
"For virtualization it's perfect."

Cons

"We have to use a Microsoft hypervisor for installation which is expensive."
"The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial."
"StorageCraft ShadowProtect can improve by making one console that can control backups of all desktops and servers in one place. Additionally, the recovery process of the backups is very slow and could improve. It's very slow when we went to recover a complete disc but to recover one file is very fast."
"The tool doesn't provide cloud integration in India."
"The product is not user-friendly."
"The speed of restores should be improved. We have found the speed of large restores rather slow."
"The only problem with the solution is that when I change the drive capacity, it has to do a full backup. It's a problem when I have five servers to backup. When I only want to change the size of the drive, I have to do a full backup that can take one week."
"Backups are very slow and time consuming."
"CDP also requires a lot of development, because there are a lot of restrictions now for CDP. There is a chance to improve CDP and make it much easier for the customers."
"The solution is not very good at backing up the physical Linux systems."
"I have used NetBackup. For heavy workloads or if I need consistent backup and restore, I prefer NetBackup over Veeam Backup Replication."
"The direct SAN backup integration can be perfected by improving the snapshot removal mechanism and process from the storage volumes."
"If a single file is corrupt then the restoration of the entire backup will fail."
"The replication functionality only works for VMware environments. Veeam has a backup agent for AIX operating systems, and we will like to see the replication functionality available for the AIX operating system. Additionally, if the backup functionality for AIX to be included in the Veeam console would be an advantage."
"Restoration takes about two to four hours with Veeam. Zerto can restore in about 10 seconds. That's the restoration speed I'm looking for now that we're dealing with ransomware."
"Could be improved with hybrid cloud integration backup."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is not very expensive, but it is not cheap."
"The price of this product is high and it should be lower."
"The solution is priced well compared to other solutions."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a four or five out of ten."
"The price of StorageCraft ShadowProtect is competitive in the market."
"It is approximately $400 to purchase a virtual service outright."
"The pricing of the product can be considered to be reasonable enough for the Asian region."
"As an MSP partner, I believe that the prices are fair."
"The solution provides flexible licensing options."
"The price of Veeam is much lower than the IBM solution."
"Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along."
"Veeam Backup Replication is inexpensive for small workloads."
"The tool is reasonably priced for the quality it provides."
"Veeam Data Platform's pricing is affordable."
"It is reasonably very cheap. I would rate the licensing model a one out of ten, where one is very affordable and ten is extremely expensive."
"We purchase a license annually."
