A good product that helps me to manage complex digital solutions
My advice to others would be that Drupal is not only a CMS, you need to learn the Drupal fundamentals before to start the project. Drupal is a handy tool whenever you work on a digital infrastructure broad project and not only a simple website. So if you have a big project, you can use Drupal. But if you have a small website, like a blog or simple website, my advice would be not to use Drupal, because Drupal is too complex and the cost to maintain the platform can be too high, related to the value of your website, for example. If you have a website with a big product catalog, for example, in many languages and in many countries in the world, then Drupal is good. But if you have a simple website, like a portfolio or five page-website, you can use many other technologies that'd be simple to maintain and implement. On a scale from one to 10, I will rate Drupal an eight. In the next release, I would like to see basic page buttons and better integration with the analytics platform. A drag and drop function to create simple pages will also be handy. For example, if a customer wants to create a landing page, it should be easy for him or her to do so. I would also like to see better translation management.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution allowed us to easily input details beyond just text, such as creating basic data charts to monitor team performance."
"It is easy to use, easy for newcomers to start using, has the “what you see is what you get” functionality of MS Word, and has good integration with JIRA so you can really do great things with the two products."
"Meetings are registered in Confluence, allowing easy access on what had been discussed and the to-do lists."
"SharePoint is very confusing, but Atlassian Confluence is very simple."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from its document-controlling feature. In Atlassian Confluence, controlled documents cannot be edited by anyone else."
"The interface is good....I didn't face any issues with the scalability. It was very good."
"It is stable and reliable."
"The linkage between the different Atlassian products is what I find most valuable, as you can easily link Atlassian Confluence into a Jira ticket, which allows for a quick overview when you are in the ticket system and the ability to quickly dive deeper into the Wiki directly."
"Significantly less time spent on production issues and maintaining existing functionality, translating into significantly more time adding new and enhanced functionality."
"But it is worth it if you require an enterprise level web platform with great scalability, support, and security."
"Drupal CMS helped in the realization of content-rich web sites that combine article presentation with sophisticated, back-end admin functionality."
"It has a huge community and support from all over the web."
"Use Drupal if expandability is a must or if you are building a large website with various kinds of functionality."
"Drupal is one of the most robust content management systems."
"It is good for big projects."
"The best things about Drupal are its extensibility and plug-ability."

Cons

"I would like to see the ability for each user to config his own home page."
"The search ability (using Lucene) is less than optimal and has known bugs that are slow in getting addressed."
"There needs to be a flexible pricing model, where we can pick and choose services and customize our pricing model."
"Atlassian Confluence's old versions consume too much memory, making it an area where optimization is required from an improvement perspective."
"JIRA and Confluence connectivity needs to be stabilized. We've faced embarrassing situations with stakeholders when the Confluence pages could not pull the list of JIRAs to be referenced on the page."
"The WYSIWYG editor is great, but there are some problems with formatting."
"The Atlassian cloud pricing model is pretty steep. Confluence should be accessible by a relatively large audience, but the pricing model prohibits this."
"Reporting on content usage info and patterns is completely missing and would be a great addition."
"Drupal 8 can be somewhat complex to set up because of the supporting technologies that should be installed, such as Composer, Drush, and Drupal Console."
"It needs a shorter learning curve."
"I think the support needs to improve, as well as the integration with tracking and analytics systems."
"The documentation on how to do things as a complete novice is only subpar in both Drupal 7 and 8."
"The user experience in designing layouts should be much easier or much more helpful."
"Migration from one major version to the next major version requires significant effort."
"Since Drupal is not developed for any specific use cases, it has some learning curve and requires effort to learn."
"Drupal 8 is only 1.5 years old. It has stability issues, but not major ones."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licenses are quite expensive"
"The product is neither cheap nor expensive, meaning its price falls somewhere in the mid-range zone."
"The price of the on-premises data center version is too expensive."
"In my opinion, it's worth the investment"
"We pay $350 a month to use the solution."
"For us, it's free to use. We don't pay any licensing."
"Maybe we're only using 10% of it, but we have to pay for everything."
"This is a very expensive solution."
"I would like to see better pricing."
