Platform for documenting and modifying our processes
The tool was used for digital transformation. Our company operates in the automotive industry and needs a transition to digitalization. We utilize the BIC Platform for documenting and modifying our processes, as well as incorporating various elements such as KPIs. It serves as a fundamental tool for numerous aspects of our operations.

Created detailed rack and network diagrams that streamline documentation and collaboration
For creating diagrams, I definitely use Visio for HLD, LLD, and traffic flow diagrams. Apart from Visio, I use Jira only if the customer specifically requests it; otherwise, I do not use an in-house version of Jira in my organization. One of the good features of using the Microsoft umbrella product is that if I create a big diagram and then work on the HLD or LLD in Word, I can select everything from Visio and paste it as an image without needing to resize it, which streamlines the process of creating documentation for customers. The main benefits Visio provides me include simplifying processes, saving time on manual work with diagram creation, and delivering a clean architecture, whether it is network architecture or application flow. I have created diagrams for AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises data centers, including rack elevation diagrams and organization charts. Modifications can be made easily and reflected immediately, and I can create PNG images to share with the executive team.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"While this is a new product it has a mature feel from being built by a company with many years in the business."
"Company wide BPMS tool sustaining a long term quality management best practices to achieve the expected process maturity level but also cutting operation and maintenance costs related to the former tool in use"
"The central dictionary is a valuable feature."
"I'm in awe of what the software can do."
"This is low-cost and very user friendly. A variety of models are available depending on the needs of the customer."
"The product is easy to use."
"The solution is easy to set up, the stability is okay, the performance is pretty good, and it's a very flexible solution."
"What I like about it is that the templates are easily findable and usable, and they are usually created for other software packages. It seems to be pretty much widely adopted in the industry."
"I think the best part of Visio is that you can import drawings very well into Microsoft Word."
"The product has a good interface and tool configuration which comes with the Microsoft Office package."
"The most valuable feature of Visio is diagram creation. If you have a presentation, you can create your data model using Visio."
"The tools tab within Visio has been amazingly useful, and it is updated quite frequently. Along with how Visio handles components and everything else, I would call it an easy-to-use tool."
"The fact that it's on-premises allows you to get fantastic speed. It's got a faster response rate, it doesn't lag, and it doesn't have any latency when you're working on it."
"Visio has improved our organization through an essential collaboration with the other Microsoft applications like SharePoint and Excel."

Cons

"One thing they could improve is the manual."
"There's an issue with the current manual that they're working on."
"There are just some things in the new product that are not really functional issues but improvements that BIC will have to make."
"The solution could improve its connectivity to other systems."
"The product needs improvement regarding the confidentiality of the domain information for the key administrator."
"As the product is very new, some minor features are still missing, but everything is there to handle day-to-day process modeling."
"Extremely large complex drawings need to be saved on the cloud for access."
"After switching organizations, I've found that Microsoft Visio was quite challenging and a little too complicated for the users."
"As a user, it would be helpful if Visio was in a native format recognized by Microsoft Word products, but that's not the case."
"Integration with other software would be an area of improvement, so that it's not just used to document but also as a center plane for information sharing."
"With other products coming on the market, Visio is losing a little ground and as a result, I mainly use PowerPoint now and Visio much less."
"Importing templates can sometimes be a bit hit and miss."
"Inventory feature could be improved."
"The product's installation phase can be a difficult process if you don't have the deployment script with you since it is very important to know what you are doing when you are dealing with the setup process."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Scalability-wise, it is an expensive product."
"Pricing will differ between enterprises based on needs such as customization, but the company uses a standardized algorithm for determining this."
"I pay for the license and it is very expensive. If you're only going to use this tool from time to time, you can save money by just using the available online tools. But if you plan on using it heavily, then it's worth it to invest."
"It is a free solution for us. It is integrated with our pack. We are trying to use the solutions that we already have."
"Our license for Visio is including with the Office 365 subscription."
"Visio is the cheapest solution because it has the basics. Everyone starts with Visio for designing processes because doing it in PowerPoint is a mess. I'm still a student, so I don't pay for licensing."
"My organization has paid for the solution. However, I have used it personally without payment. There is a free option available."
"We're in a Visio plan that is like $15 a month per user. At the moment, it is just the standard licensing fees that I'm aware of."
"Personally, I think the price of this solution is too high."
"I know you can pick it up in retail for under a thousand per person. You can also pick it up for cheaper than that. Microsoft has about 7,000 licensing models, and you get certain percentages off specific licensing. If you're a partner, you get specific numbers of licenses with the partnership price."
