Architect at Evoke
A simple and lightweight college course automation system with third-party integrations
The initial setup is straightforward and can be completed with the environment within an hour. First, take the latest from the git repository and check the git code to the monitor studio and a bar file, a deployable Bonita archive file. Then, take that process to the Bonita server, running at runtime on another server. Finally, deploy and enable it by selecting the proper organization.

Efficient documentation generation through organized model structure with a good price-performance ratio
Whenever I begin a new project with Sparx, I have to spend time training people on how to use it since it is not straightforward. Although it's a powerful product with plenty of features, it's not easy for even experienced users to find their way without guidance. This is not the most user-friendly solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The Connector implementation is a great addition to an out-of-box solution providing robust features for the developer to build hassle-free integrations."
"Process automation with Bonita BPM is really easy."
"I really enjoy using the workflow management."
"I think Bizagi is a powerful software or tool for organization, but Bonita is user-friendly and easy-to-use — easier to use for development."
"Its user-friendliness, along with the availability of comprehensive and clear documentation on the website is the most valuable."
"The most valuable features of Bonita are the connectors, detailed documentation, and web applications."
"Compared to other products on the market, Bonita presents a pretty acceptable level of robustness."
"One of the most valuable features is you can create without coding, it is a low code platform."
"Automated reporting saves me a kazillion hours a week of cutting, pasting and editing."
"Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect is used by our architects to put out artifacts, collaborate, work together, and share those artifacts."
"The features I find most valuable is the ability to create a document and then put it into a OneCare artifact, which allows me to share the visual I bring about with other communities that are not system analysts because not everyone can afford to have a copy of Enterprise Architect, and additionally the solution operates well as a whole and has very comprehensive capabilities."
"The company wants to reduce its maintenance budget so the aim is to get more for less, and the solution has achieved this and improved efficiency."
"I like it because it is very economical, price-wise Sparx EA is very low cost, it is easy to use, connecting entities is very easy in this, and it is an EA tool that is approved by Open Group and is in the tool register of Open Group."
"Ability to use a single shared repository and defined languages, using both ArchiMate as the modelling language and the business language based on the repository contents."
"Provides a single repository for all architecture work."
"EA is a good, cheap, flexible, and capable tool."

Cons

"Scalability of the Bonita BPM Community version is low."
"Bonita can improve by offering more flexibility. The developer does not receive the code of the application to modify it. Most of the other solutions I have used allow the developers to change or improve the code that is generated."
"The support is mandatory to access all features (Subscription), maybe they can have a different business model."
"Automation in vacation of a human resources replacement would be a good improvement in the product."
"BPMN 2.0 notations are not all supported, would love to see them all coming in (e.g. complex gateway)."
"There could be an improvement in IoT connectivity."
"So Bonita is easy to use but it seems to be missing some powerful features that competing products have."
"The community edition has limited module functionality. If they could release some of the functionality that's available in the enterprise edition that would be helpful to those learning to use the solution."
"It has not improved our organization mainly due to the poor diagramming capabilities within the product, which are outdated and look like Visual Studio 2005."
"For data modeling, it is not very mature when comparing with other data modeling tools."
"Product is very visual, but not intuitive."
"Performance of remote rdbms is nightmare and the reason is that every link and every attribute is separate sequential insert/update to db."
"It lacks some collaborative functions like sending emails when a status changed."
"I cannot get businesses to use Enterprise Architect as it is too complicated for them."
"It would be great if we could decrease the use of different parts of the Toolbox, forcing temporary consultants to use our Profile and no other items from other toolboxes."
"Sparx can be a bit slow. If you are trying to design software architecture, sometimes we run into issues and need to refresh."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is not cheaper, not costlier; it is reasonable. Bonita’s license is very flexible, with options to meet the needs of different customers and clients. Previously, it was less flexible, but now, many different licensing options are available."
"The Enterprise edition is very expensive."
"The price is fair for what we are using the solution for."
"The product's pricing is acceptable. Pricing is yearly."
"I am using the free version of Bonita."
"have installed the image of Bonita BPM on Amazon AWS and there is just one option to use and pay for."
"The Community Edition comes free of charge."
"We are using the Community Version, which can be used free of charge."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"Pricing and licensing is very attractive, simple, and straightforward."
"The license I use is on-premise. We haven't gone to the cloud where we have to pay monthly or something like that. Sparx is cheaper than most similar tools."
"Pricing and licensing are suitable even for small companies."
"I think our license costs roughly $1,000 a year, but I could be wrong."
"We had a yearly license."
"It’s the best deal in town, by far."
"The license for Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect is paid yearly, but I don't handle that area. It's good for its price, so I'm rating it a five out of five, but I'm not using it much. I also don't have information regarding additional costs apart from the standard licensing fees."
