Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Automation has streamlined client data extraction and has improved reporting for business decisions
I work as a developer, and my manager is responsible for the research and analytics for the project with the client and business users. I am satisfied with BotFarm. I would rate my experience with BotFarm an eight out of ten. I do not see any room for improvement for BotFarm. I am using AI tools such as Amazon, Microsoft Azure, and ChatGPT. I am not using AI-powered bots in BotFarm. I am a partner with Automation Anywhere.

Automation has reduced night-time server checks and now manages reporting and cloud monitoring
The downsides I normally mention about Fortra's Automate are about reports and deep analytics. While Fortra's Automate can manage our servers, it can give you a problem report that says what happened, but it doesn't give you a clear picture of why it happened or how many times your servers went offline. This pushes us to get another third-party tool. We have to generate those simple reports from Fortra's Automate and push them to another software in Tableau. We use Tableau for analytics to analyze that data and understand what the trends are, what the instance is telling us, and what the clear problem is. It lacks that deep analytics feature. Additionally, I am not impressed with the interface, as it feels outdated and it has taken a long time to see any updates or changes. I believe those are the two downsides, but the customer support is adequate.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For the beginners, it is an easy tool compared to other tools in market. Users can understand the line by line code and code it easily. There is no syntax or anything else. They can easily drag and drop, executing the bot directly."
"AI governance is very important in my company, and we are implementing it now."
"Bot Runner - The Bot Runner is the machine where you run the bot. You could have multiple bots running in parallel. You only need the Run License to run the bots. The bots report back the execution logs/pass/fail status back to the control room."
"Automation Anywhere includes IQ Bots. So, IQ Bots is the key part of Automation Anywhere. You can work on any type of PDF, images, invoices, or billing things in any company. You can just upload it and extract the data, then use it as you require. It is a key part of Automation Anywhere: the best part."
"Automation Anywhere has presented us with a platform that is easily accessible from a web interface, enabling us to write code for RPA scripts without having to download a dedicated software application."
"Co-Pilot is a valuable feature."
"For an organization who is looking to do some business renovation, the solution can work well depending on its purpose and usage."
"Automation Anywhere is excellent for integrating with other solutions. It provides the ability to leverage the APIs of third-party solutions. We use some of the already built-in MetaBots to then scrape the data and manipulate independent data that we need in order to integrate with other third-party solutions."
"As a company, if you feel that your ROI is pretty high and with Automation Anywhere you are able to achieve the desired ROI that you are looking for, then I would definitely say Automation Anywhere is a very good solution to adopt."
"The scalability is the solution's most valuable aspect."
"The product has increased efficiency and reduced the time spent on tasks."
"The solution is very manageable."
"There is at least a five or ten times reduction in the amount of time, and more people are free to do something else."
"What I like most about BotFarm is that it's one of the leading RPA products in the market, and very few products focus on robotics today, so I like that BotFarm offers a lot in terms of what general customers expect it to do."
"The system is stable and very little maintenance is required, assuming the bots process is perfectly designed."
"The ability to drag and drop various components and the customizability are good features."
"The pricing is excellent. I would give them perfect marks in that regard."
"We have done the setup in the last eight months, my team of approximately ten to twelve team members were doing manual jobs, and Fortra's Automate is doing that with three or four bots we have set up, doing this job without any errors and really reducing my manual work and the human errors which were done by my team so I don't need to re-verify data or invest time in this."
"We've automated all the vendor processes so that we don't have to manually load any files."
"The best features of the solution are the flexible automation features, it is rich with beautiful connectors, and it is easy to use with little to no coding knowledge required to get started, so anybody can use the tool."
"The best features in Fortra's Automate include centralized job orchestration and reliable scheduling, along with role-based security and audit trails, which I value the most about this product."
"We have tried other RPA solutions like UiPath or Automation Anywhere. They are fantastic products but complex, and it's hard to understand everything. It would be best if you had a skilled developer or several. Automate is easy to implement, administer, and use. It's appropriate for us because our cases are simple and easy to automate. We don't need complicated tools with many features; We prefer to get a significant ROI quickly."
"The stability is very good; as far as I know, we haven't had any issues so far, it's very reliable, and the performance is good."
"Fortra's Automate can check if our servers are working, so I don't need to wake up at 3:00 AM to check server status."

Cons

"Automation Anywhere is one of the least stable RPA tools out of the top five RPA solutions."
"Migration is a little challenging since it requires direct integration with DB, credential vault and all that."
"The expectations of what we thought was possible, versus what appears to be possible, were a little bit off."
"The optical character recognition of various documents and templates, particularly when using the Arabic language, has room for improvement."
"I would like more with OCR and data capture. We are partnering with IBM to help bridge this gap, but Automation Anywhere should continue to expand on their product line and provide these capabilities, as well."
"Getting buy-in was a major challenge because of the various people not aware of the technologies moving and getting buy-in from top management is a challenge."
"Automation Anywhere has to be integrated with machine learning and AI systems to read images and videos, then put the information into another format."
"I would like a couple more features where I can talk and the line comes up automatically."
"The image processing capabilities definitely need to be improved."
"The solution doesn't have support like they used to. They need support. We have personnel of our own, but sometimes we need assistance beyond our own team."
"The OCR tool, the optical character recognition tool, could be more efficient."
"BotFarm newer version has been difficult to install, we have been in contact with the support on this matter."
"The implementation isn't straightforward. It's a bit complex in terms of deployment as there are a lot of settings you need to handle."
"The stability needs to be improved."
"The community forums can be improved a little bit because they have mixed solutions or discussions with respect to some ideas."
"The dashboard needs improvement. For Bot Farm, the visualization is not that good compared to the main Automation Anywhere dashboard."
"Some companies have asked for voice integration. This is likely part of the roadmap."
"The interface could be more user-friendly and easier to navigate."
"We really need a free development environment for customers. Building and testing automation on production isn't ideal."
"The vendor is currently working on a solution that allows us to automatically create a process that is based on a document that we receive via email."
"The solution has a very weak knowledge base."
"Additionally, I am not impressed with the interface, as it feels outdated and it has taken a long time to see any updates or changes."
"I believe we need to test various OCR tools that assist in evaluating, let's say, six different customer resyncs. We analyze their spending patterns and documentations, but current OCR support has limitations, requiring highly standardized documents, which isn't always the case. With a more advanced OCR system, we could improve processes related to credit risk management and legal matters. We're exploring how to integrate Fortra's Automate with our CRM platform, taking cues from instances where Salesforce seamlessly merged with Automate. However, we use a different CRM, Insight for New Enterprise, and we're seeking ways to connect the automation process within our CRM. We aim for the automation to continue smoothly, even in instances where traditional automation methods might face hurdles."
"There are many things that need to be improved. The security needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We save approximately 10,000 hours per year."
"We are not receiving the right information about their features, e.g. Automation Anywhere University, or anything that they are selling. They need to improve their documentation."
"Our annual licensing costs are around $100,000 a year."
"The setup and licensing cost is affordable, and it is not exaggerated like UiPath."
"We're on a license package with Automation Anywhere (AA), paid yearly. What would be better is for them to have different packages for different types of organization."
"They all are very competitive today. At the end of the day, it boils down to the negotiations that happen and what type of partner you are."
"We're paying a monthly subscription fee for the bot and for services. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"We have a three-year contract with Automation Anywhere."
"It is too expensive and not worth the price."
"Pricing for this solution can be better."
"Its price is quite high as compared to other solutions, but it has a lot of features and good stability. They should reduce its price."
"Our licensing costs are approximately $3,000 USD annually."
"An unattended bot license costs around $5,000, whereas an attended bot license costs roughly $1,500."
"I think payment can vary but it's a re-occurring fee that needs to be paid every year."
"The pricing model could be simplified."
"The licensing is on a monthly basis."
"It has gone up in price. The price of Fortra's Automate has increased since we first started using it. It does a lot but also costs a lot. It was a lot more affordable before Fortra owned the software."
"Once you buy the software, you just pay for the support for backend help."
"While solutions like UiPath and Blue Prism cost around $11,000-$12,000 for each license, this product costs around $7,000 and you can keep it forever."
"From a distributor's side, one of the biggest selling points is its price point. Without going into any numbers, compared to UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and Blue Prism, we're significantly cheaper. The main difference is that other competitors usually charge you per process. However, in Automate's case, it's priced per bot. So, a bot can run multiple processes at the same time, but you are only priced for a single bot."
"I like the way this solution is priced because you can buy a license, or you can buy the software outright."
"The pricing is quite reasonable. We can run the process with one bot. The limitation is at the server level because they have some resources, and sometimes that is enough. It isn't too expensive, so you can get a good return off of one, and you can also have a pack of five bots that is quite competitive."
"I'm only involved in running the product and maintaining the systems, so I can't speak to the cost."
"It comes with a package that costs approximately $20,000 USD per year."
