Fantastic for small businesses; the customer feedback has been great
From a small firm perspective, Egnyte Connect is simple, it is easy to get users up and running the same day, and I have nothing negative to say about the software. I can't speak to how Egnyte Connect would operate in a midsize company or even a large Fortune 500 company, but, from our perspective as a small business, it is fantastic. For us, security was front and center. Usability was also important and took second place. Next, we asked "Is it simple and easy for anyone to quickly learn how to use it?" Egnyte Connect checked that box. Third place for us was price. We liked the fact that they charge on a monthly basis so there is not an annualized upfront fee that we pay.

The interface for the security and compliance center could be simplified. It changes frequently, which can make it somewhat difficult for admins to stay up-to-date on where specific settings are located. The compliance center modification or improvement of Office 365 needs to be introduced. The rest of the features feel acceptable to me. The reason it is not a ten is because of the complexity of managing the vast array of admin settings, which requires a specialized IT team. Even though it meets industry standards for decent security compliance such as SOC and HIPAA, the complexity of managing the admin settings needs to improve.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"It is a good storage solution."
"It's easy to move files around, even to, for example, SharePoint."
"You can really do a lot of cool things with it in terms of being able to co-author and share documents with users that are not in your organization."
"From a small firm perspective, Egnyte Connect is simple, it is easy to get users up and running the same day, and I have nothing negative to say about the software. I can't speak to how Egnyte Connect would operate in a midsize company or even a large Fortune 500 company, but, from our perspective as a small business, it is fantastic."
"It provides a way to granularly choose which folders from the internet you want to sync to your computer. It is really useful for people who are working on teams that are working with files that are frequently changing. You can go in and pretty clearly see what changes have been made. It gives you a constant feed."
"It is scalable and stable."
"Egnyte Connect is a great application to save files."
"Teams is a really good collaboration tool; you can work basically at any part of the world and communicate and collaborate with anybody, as long as they are connected to the internet."
"The valuable features I use most are Outlook, Word, print to PDF functionality, and Excel; for our meetings, we use Teams regularly, and it serves as a good platform for our ongoing meetings and project management."
"Practically, we could implement remote learning very fast, and it was very helpful, Teams especially."
"Teams has been really valuable recently as a feature of Office 365 when I've been working on projects where I've needed to collaborate with quite a large group of people."
"The most valuable features of Office 365 are Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams. Teams helped us to collaborate more through its call and document sharing features."
"The integration with Teams and SharePoint has impacted our project management in an awesome way; we can contact all team members through Teams, and all the information they produce is stored in our SharePoint."
"Teams is really helpful because my university uses Microsoft Outlook, and integrating with Teams and coordinating with my team members is very useful."
"I find Office 365 convenient and easy to use, primarily because I have been a Microsoft product user for a long time, and its user-friendly interface and consistent workflow across various Microsoft products are particularly notable."

Cons

"Before, when we were starting to use Egnyte, we were struggling with a lot of bugs with Egnyte desktop sync."
"The issue of my authorization token expiring pretty quickly was pretty annoying. On pretty much every update, it would expire on every computer. On every computer update, at the first opportunity, it would expire. When my computer got updated or the authorization got cut, my saved drives would get messed up. So, I had to reconnect them all. I was never able to set up a useful drive system with my local computer with Egnyte Connect. It would be a big improvement if there was a cached system so that when it loses connection, it can still save what kind of connections were set up, and when it reconnects, it repopulates all those. I don't know if that's even possible, but that's the feature I'd want."
"As of right now, I have everything that I and my team need."
"If this solution had a better ability to search, that would be helpful. In addition, if there was an ability to collaborate, that would also be a benefit. At present, the vision control is had because if someone gets out of it, it locks. And, whoever saves last overrides everyone's work."
"You cannot delete a file when you have uploaded it in error."
"It would be nice to see an integration of using an active directory to validate and authenticate users on our end as well as on the client user's end."
"The reason it is not a ten is because of the complexity of managing the vast array of admin settings, which requires a specialized IT team."
"Integration with other platforms can be improved."
"The one big problem with the solution is if you are presenting in Teams and someone puts their hand up, you don't get a notification. If you are running a meeting and just presenting you don't know that people have their hands up and want to ask a question."
"It would be a fantastic opportunity if their solution could be used in combination with VoIP software, allowing you to combine VoIP software and Office 365 on a single platform."
"Office 365 could be easier to use at first. Tutorials are needed to know how to use the solution."
"It could be more user-friendly for inexperienced people."
"Could include integration with other single sign-on solutions."
"Using Office 365 is not that flexible on some mobile devices, like Android."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I do not have experience with the pricing of this solution."
"As far as I understand, licenses are associated with the Egnyte platform. There aren't any licenses associated with Egnyte Connect."
"Good reporting and good value subscriptions for international calls."
"The pricing is good for all the features that we receive, e.g., Skype for Business."
"I would rate the solution 3 out of 5 for the price. I think Microsoft presents a good solution concerning the price."
"The price of Office 365 is very expensive."
"Licensing, billing, and accounting are available from the management interface."
"The pricing/licensing is easy to manage."
"We have a license to use this solution. We have an E3 license which covers many different solutions."
"I think that we pay $9.99 USD per user, monthly."
