Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Automating processes has saved time and improved communication
Something frustrates me concerning Microsoft Power Automate, and that is about the integration with Microsoft Forms and Excel. The issue now is that I don't get my responses synchronized automatically, and that frustrates me a lot. If the team could take this as feedback, the synchronization of the feedback responses from the forms and the Excel sheets should be seamless. This synchronization issue happens frequently, and it causes a lot of delays in the sense that the mails that ought to go out to the agents fail at some point. I have to reload these responses so that the agents can get their responses as when submitted. What I notice is that the responses don't go out without proper synchronization, so I reload the field responses, and this works afterwards. I would say probably a seamless walkthrough process for new users would be beneficial. For those using it for the first time, a seamless walkthrough process would be fine.

Frees up employee time but can't run when computer system is locked
Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks. It would be better if, when we have scheduled a scenario, it would log into the system automatically.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"As we were closing our fiscal year, we had this huge backlog that we needed to clean up. The business was preparing to hire 12 people to do that, and even though they were not sure they could handle it, we built the process to extract and do the entire process just in two weeks. We were able with a single person to clean the entire backlog, which gave us huge benefits."
"With Automation Anywhere, what used to take us two days now takes us twenty minutes."
"Automation Anywhere has had a huge impact in my organization, especially in saving time and compliance-related process automation by reducing errors drastically and ensuring quick processing of requests with proper logs available for the audit team."
"The whole suite of RPA modules that they have is very good. They have three environments in which you can do your automation. You have development, staging, and production environments. These are run by licenses as well, which is very good. There are a lot of ways of automating processes with this application."
"Automation Anywhere's most valuable feature is its seamless integration into procurement software, allowing for the automation of purchase orders, billing, employee travel details, and other tasks."
"Automation has been playing a significant role in every aspect of our institution."
"The data capture feature is very valuable. I know there are also some elements where you have to be able to incorporate AI, but I haven't gotten to that level yet."
"It's very easy to use and all of the employees can easily get involved in the process, whether they are a developer, support, or have an HR background."
"Microsoft is heavily investing and developing new features, and it is well integrated into the CRM, SharePoint, and other Microsoft platforms."
"So far, based on the development calculators that we've been running, it's running far smoother and far more efficiently and faster."
"So far, the tech support has provided me with good enough support and knowledge."
"I like that Power Automate gives us a connector to be able to connect different data sources or different software, and it is very easy to connect, authenticate, and automate our daily routine tasks."
"The solution is easy to understand and to develop connectors."
"The most valuable feature is that you can run multiple automations at the same time, in parallel."
"My advice to others that want to implement this solution is that it has very good features and I have not had any issues."
"The solution is pretty customizable. Even big automation tasks are done rather simply."
"The tool's most valuable feature is data import. The OCR feature helps to recognize the data. It can recognize screen and document numbers well."
"NTT-AT WinActor has allowed our employees to focus on other things rather than the repetitive tasks that can now be given to the robot."
"This software is very smart - it can decide from a picture if we like that condition, and then the robot will do that action."

Cons

"One of the things that the product should have is to add more advanced level developer capabilities into the platform. I know it is easy for business, non-technical people. However, for the developers, there should be some more features within the product so they can build advanced level use cases much faster."
"One key feature we are looking for from Automation Anywhere is the need for a fully evolved CI/CD pipeline approach within our IT organization, given that we manage multiple applications."
"In the version that we have, there are some challenges with the browser-based applications, the cloning of the objects, and the solution's stability."
"Automation Anywhere can be improved by reducing the time of the processes and enhancing the efficiency of people."
"The marketing for Automation Anywhere has room for improvement."
"Providing a desktop version rather than focusing on the cloud is essential. Only UiPath offers a studio environment for desktop application development."
"Automation Anywhere could use to be more stabilized."
"There's potential for Automation Anywhere to integrate conversational types of tools and AI into their tool set, which would be really valuable."
"Automatic selectors that allow me to select parts of a website could be more adaptable."
"Things need to be improved with respect to RPA kinds of solutions and it requires a level of stabilization that is currently lacking."
"Scalability is the biggest challenge from my perspective because it is literally designed as a single-user product, at least the RPA piece of it is."
"It's not as user-friendly as a solution such as UiPath, which is really easy to use."
"The connectors and the integration capability can be improved. Microsoft RPA is a growing platform, and it is not yet particularly mature."
"I think the language Microsoft Power Automate uses when you do expressions could be better."
"The solution's licensing model is very complex and not straightforward."
"It should be more stable, and their technical support should be faster. It should also have more integration with tools from other vendors, such as SAP and Oracle, and technology partners, such as Salesforce."
"Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks."
"The OCR has issues recognizing handwritten data."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have saved a lot of money on taxes based on the stuff that we run."
"The certifications are free of cost."
"We have a three-year contract with Automation Anywhere."
"We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet."
"Our annual licensing costs for the entire company are $100,000."
"The pricing and licensing of Automation Anywhere plays an important rule in the Indian market because in the Indian market $10,000 USD is too much. Hence, the pricing tends to go down depending on the customer relationship with the partner: A starter pack is $10,000 and an enterprise pack is $100,000. If you go through an implementation partner, you can get good deals. They can save some money."
"The solution itself is free unless we want to add the support option but we have to pay for the bots we use."
"It is reasonable and affordable. If you consider the tasks that we can get done using this, the pricing is reasonable and affordable."
"This is a cost-effective product and now that it has been acquired by Microsoft, we don't expect the cost to increase with the next release."
"I don't deal with the financial side. I know that we pay for a per-user license. It is probably less than $20 a user, but I am not sure about the exact figures."
"There is zero licensing cost. It comes with our Microsoft Office subscription."
"There is a per-user licensing model for individual users."
"It is free for us. It is embedded directly in the Office package."
"Power Automate is a much less expensive product than the competition."
"This is a cost-effective RPA solution."
"Its licensing is flexible."
"We pay yearly for the agent who runs the processes, plus an additional fee for maintenance costs."
