Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Helps automate processes but needs to offer different licensing models to users
Right now, I am not working on process mining at the minute. Before I switched to the company, I worked extremely closely with the process mining tool from UiPath, SAP BTP, and the process mining that they had created. I am working with MuleSoft Automation and Anypoint. We are not doing any sort of process mining at the minute, but in my company, because MuleSoft is one of the only RPA tools that we are looking at, we have another application called Appian that we are trying to explore now. Appian has process mining capability, which is why we thought we would look at it along with AI capabilities.

Significantly reduces manual effort and improves team workflows through automated ticketing
We've used Agent Builder, IXP, and Maestro for orchestration. We have created context-grounded searches or chatbots using context grounding, and we also use context grounding within an Agentic flow where a bot or agent reads ServiceNow tickets to determine whether it has been assigned to the right work group. If it has not been assigned correctly due to human error, it automatically reassigns it to the right group. I would assess Agentic AI's ability to extract data points as effective. We created an agent for the purpose of extracting data, though not in a document. We created what we call an email conversation agent that engages with a customer, vendor, or someone in an email conversation with a set goal of extracting specific data points for an action to be performed subsequently. The one automation we have deployed in production involves the agent interacting with team members to collect data points and create a ServiceNow ticket. We appreciate almost all features of UiPath Platform, with one of the most successful ones being the use of Coms Mining. Most of the new features related to AI have all been good, and we use Agentic. We have already created a few agents and have started to use Maestro for a few flows, though we are not yet there to orchestrate an end-to-end workflow. We have good ROI from the automations we have developed with UiPath Platform, which far exceeds the investment in the platform. It has saved us tens of thousands of hours in manual effort, making the team members happy to pursue other things of value.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When we compare other projects on other platforms versus Automation Anywhere, the technical support we are receiving in terms of efficiency, and even that they are giving us good price, this is what we are looking for."
"We have saved time and money using the solution."
"This Testing Anywhere is a good tool for the functional testing and also good for the beginners in Automation who don't have knowledge in scripting."
"Automation Anywhere and even previous versions, which I've worked on, have good core functionality. The core functionality of being able to automate and build a solution that is local and low code is one of the key differentiators that's allowed us to find success."
"It saves time."
"The ability to create automation itself is a benefit that reduces human error and enhances efficiency. Technical support is unsurpassed."
"I don't think one feature is more valuable than any other. In my opinion, the value is in the totality of the platform. It is easy to use for our developers with a well laid out UI and many canned tools. The Control Room is very easy to navigate and mostly intuitive to use."
"The most valuable feature of the platform right now for us is just getting the most out of the tool. When I first joined the company, we were on version 11, which is the on-premise version of Automation Anywhere. Getting over to the new cloud platform A360 has enabled us to get the most out of general RPA or robotic process automation."
"Contextor is a good solution for a Citrix environment. It's the first with this tool. Other tools provide the same functionality, but not with the Citrix environment."
"Most of the details are already in the help portal and SAP notes are available. It is well documented as part of the product support."
"The most valuable feature of SAP Contextor is that everyone is in one place in the program that I need."
"It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"The standout features of SAP Intelligent RPA are its flexibility and integration capabilities."
"Scalability is fine. It is pretty nice."
"SAP Contextor has improved our organization by giving us better operational efficiency."
"It is remarkably easy to configure and code, and it doesn't require an extensive technical background or coding expertise."
"The bot captured something that needed to be dealt with, and the client was so happy it was caught as it saved the company a lot of money - around $1 billion."
"The Orchestrator management tools are growing a lot and are constantly improving."
"UiPath is a fast, time-saving, money-saving, energy-saving solution."
"The processes are accurate. We see very few errors once they are implemented."
"The ease of building automations is a 10 out of 10. It automates our tasks faster and gives us positive and accurate results."
"No one on my team or my boss would ever want to return to when we weren't using these solutions."
"We have found it to be quite valuable as we actively deploy and use bots, which have become a significant asset to our operations."
"It's accessible, but also has enough features for more hands-on developers to be able to do what they need to do. From the two that I've seen, it was the more user-friendly one."

Cons

"However, the AI Sense Recorder is too slow, so they can enhance its features for easier user experience."
"Off the top of my head, I cannot think of anything that they would need to improve on, but there are probably opportunities to explore some potential use cases where maybe there is a feature that is not yet available. We can discover and pioneer something together."
"Improving on the ease of use and user experience of Automation Anywhere (AA) could help."
"One thing with the bot that we are always struggling with is the memory management."
"Automation Anywhere (AA) has a lot of stability issues. It needs a lot of maintenance."
"If it had the ability to make decisions in complex situations, the bot would perform more smoothly. More advanced decision-making skills are needed for improvement."
"My opinion is that we need to have a video or tutorial on how to implement these features, as well as seeing what results to expect."
"In A2019 it does not display the exact running status, but rather it displays the previous one."
"The tool's licensing has been kind of a challenge...At the moment, the tool does not offer different licensing models to users."
"I found that the SAP scripting of a program is easier than SAP Contextor."
"SAP Contextor could improve by automating some processes."
"I would like to see a better capacity for unstructured data, for example, PDF, or text within images."
"The initial setup is of medium complexity. It is neither too hard nor too simple. You need some background in SAP and an understanding of it."
"There should be more of an error, like a proper error feature, in future releases. Sometimes, we don't understand why that automation is not learning what, like, where it is stuck, or what is the reason like, or what is the criteria we are missing to add. So a proper error message would be helpful."
"For potential features or improvements, one aspect I would suggest enhancing is the flexibility of the extraction process."
"One way SAP Intelligent RPA could improve is by integrating built-in DI services for document processing."
"OCR is something which could be improved on to some extent as the result is not very accurate."
"When it comes to document processing, they could work on more accurately identifying objects from PDF files."
"They can probably focus more on attended stuff or creating a UI around that. We are not using the attended bot a lot, however, I have seen some use cases in other organizations, as I'm working in consulting. I've seen in some other areas where an organization wants to use attended automation, however, the feature is not very well designed which makes it difficult to use."
"It is a little confusing at first. I came from Blue Prism where you have one dashboard and very little jumping back and forth. In Orchestrator, you have menus, and there is a lot of jumping between tabs and sub-tabs to get to the specific information, but once you learn that, it is pretty intuitive. There is just that initial learning curve if you're coming from another system. Blue Prism does everything in the one pane, and even though UiPath is neatly laid out, you just got to learn how they laid it out."
"Some of our employees also use MacBook devices for their daily work, mostly for high-graphic projects. UiPath doesn't have a complex set of features for OS X systems. If they could add more complex features for MacBooks, that would be good."
"To improve UiPath Platform, I definitely suggest including more integration services; the more customers they can connect with, the better, as there are a couple of major names missing, such as SAP connections and NetSuite."
"We sometimes struggle trying to figure out what kind of a bot we need to use for what kind of work, and it would be nice to have more clarity on this."
"It could use an easy integration with SAP. Most of the processes of our company are in SAP. Sometimes it's kind of tricky to automate over it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Roughly, as of today, it is around $250,000 annually."
"The cost of this solution is a little bit high, but it is worth the price."
"We have a few licenses. They cost roughly $10,000 each."
"When I started working on it, it was difficult to obtain a trial version (barrier to entry). Now, they have a Community Edition, which may make it easy to get started."
"I am using that Automation Anywhere Master Certification for version 11. Recently, this has been updated in Automation Anywhere University. Until this month, it's free to use. There are no charges. That's why I would like to complete it this month."
"The pricing strategy for us is one license for development. It is more complicated than that depending on the options you choose."
"We would like them to change the license model of charging per bot."
"The cost for scalability is much cheaper than developing a new system."
"The pricing is not that expensive. It is manageable."
"It all comes with a bundle right now. Having advanced features, it is competitively priced."
"The initial cost might seem higher, but over time, with continued use over five or ten years, the cost tends to decrease, making it a more economical choice."
"This is not a tool or software with a license as others are. The SaaS model is based on the usage of the tool."
"There are different licensing options and you should study which one better suits your company's needs."
"UiPath gives pretty good discounts."
"I don't know the cost. Maybe $25,000 for the year. I would definitely say it's worth the money."
"The product is very affordable, not costly at all."
"Price-wise, it is not the cheapest one on the market, but it provides the fastest automation and the best training that I have ever seen for RPA, through the UiPath Academy."
"Its pricing seems reasonable. I know we've been able to get a good amount of value in a few years. Our breakeven was only in year two. So, we're approaching breakeven in our licensing program. It's not a cheap product by any means, but the value that can be returned on an ROI basis is quite high."
"Licensing can be cumbersome and makes overall pricing needs somewhat hard to forecast, but not too difficult once the tool is scaled."
"The license cost is expensive because we have to pay for each tenant."
