Easy to use, plenty of features, and priced well
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Microsoft Power Automate is the many functionalities, and ease of use. We had summer interns from college in their second year of engineering and they were able to start the building process quickly within a day."
  • "More OCR and AI capabilities are needed to improve the solution. Other solutions have better features, such as Blue Prism and UiPath."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Microsoft Power Automate for RPA.

How has it helped my organization?

We assessed the functionality of Microsoft Power Automate in streamlining repetitive processes that required human effort. Specifically, we discovered that the process of completing online loan applications for our customers was a prime candidate for automation. With Microsoft Power Automate, we were able to automate this process, enabling a single individual to log in to up to twenty loan applications. However, if we needed to scale up to two hundred applications per day, we would have required ten individuals to manage this process manually. With this solution, we were able to achieve this with only two people, as the software facilitated logging into the application master and extracting data directly into an Excel file, which could then be easily uploaded and processed within minutes. It has improved our organization's efficiency.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Power Automate is the many functionalities, and ease of use. We had summer interns from college in their second year of engineering and they were able to start the building process quickly within a day.

What needs improvement?

More OCR and AI capabilities are needed to improve the solution. Other solutions have better features, such as Blue Prism and UiPath.

In a future release, they should add the running of multiple clients on a single machine. This is a critical feature. If not it requires multiple machines to run operations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Power Automate for approximately a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Microsoft Power Automate an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are not a large organization. We have approximately 10 clients using the solution.

The people who use the solution are back-end processing engineers.

We are considering increasing usage in terms of processes rather than personnel. Specifically, we are exploring automation for certain quick and simple processes, such as transferring data between Excel spreadsheets and performing calculations.

The solution has been scalable in our usage.

I rate the scalability of Microsoft Power Automate an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

We have standard support and it has been decent.

I rate the support of Microsoft Power Automate an eight out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

It took us about fifteen days of training for our people to have the solution up and running. It was simple.

I rate the initial setup of Microsoft Power Automate a nine out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

Initially, we relied on a third party for the proof of concept and comparisons. However, we eventually transitioned to completing the implementation in-house.

Our process or not complex and we used three people for the implementation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Initially, we had a Microsoft account for Office 365. Later, we discovered that our license included access to Power Automate at no additional cost. There was a small fee for additional features, but it was negligible compared to the benefits. There are not any additional fees required to use the solution.

If we had purchased a UIPath or Blue Prism, it would have cost us a minimum of $10,000.

I rate the price of Microsoft Power Automate an eight out of ten.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Blue Prism but we choose Microsoft Power Automate because it best suited our needs.

What other advice do I have?

It is important to follow the typical software implementation methodology for Microsoft Power Automate. If .NET resources are available, you don't need to look outside. They can learn the software quickly and deliver it.

I rate Microsoft Power Automate an eight out of ten.

We have been very happy with the solution it is not costing us a lot and we can do the implementation in-house.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easily integrates with other tools, but its licensing model is very complex
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of the solution is that it easily integrates with Azure DevOps."
  • "The solution's licensing model is very complex and not straightforward."

What is our primary use case?

Microsoft Power Automate has helped one of my clients to update a SharePoint list automatically. There was no need to open the SharePoint list every time and update it. Instead, a flow that runs and updates it.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution is that it easily integrates with Azure DevOps.

What needs improvement?

We need to buy a premium license for Microsoft Power Automate because some features are only available for premium licenses. It would be really helpful if Microsoft offered some premium features in the standard version. Instead of bringing everything to the standard version, it would be really helpful if Microsoft classified one or two important things as standard, which are regularly worked upon.

The solution's licensing model is very complex and not straightforward. The licensing model needs to be reviewed and changed. Sometimes, Microsoft Power Automate's portal becomes a little bit slow.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Power Automate for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution a six out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the solution a six out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support responds generically, but we would need some issue-specific responses.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup a five out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

The solution's implementation takes only a few minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing two to three out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

We have benefits with Microsoft Power Automate, like automatically updating records when they pop up. I would recommend Microsoft Power Automate to other users because it easily integrates with other Microsoft products, which is one of the big benefits to us. Microsoft Power Automate is easily acquirable.

The solution's licensing model is very complex. Compared to other RPA tools, Microsoft Power Automate is easy to work with. Other RPA tools are bought at a higher price, but Microsoft Power Automate is not very expensive.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Power Automate a six out of ten.

Allows employees to create and automate workflows and tasks across various applications
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has saved us hours of work."
  • "I would like to see better data integration with different sources."

What is our primary use case?

We mainly use it in connection with our drug inventories. We use Power Automate to import the files we get from various wholesalers. We also check the prices in our back office.

We are a pharmaceutical compounds organization and also get prescriptions. We have a portal where GPs and doctors can prescribe patients. At the moment, we are looking to put more data into the database so that we can see some statistics from Power BI.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution has saved us hours of work. The solution does the work instead of employees.

What is most valuable?

What needs improvement?

We are looking for more data integration with various resources. Our plan is to have a deeper look at it in November when we are in Seattle for the two conferences. We would like to consolidate the data from various sources and extract it in order to analyze it. We used an RPA tool and looked at the ML part of it as well.

I would like to see better data integration with different sources.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have using Microsoft Automate for a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. I rate the stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. Presently, three to four hundred users use the solution and all our clients are small organizations. I would rate it a seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support team is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is moderately straightforward. The deployment takes a week's time. I would rate the initial setup a seven out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment is done by consultants.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's price is reasonable. I rate the pricing a five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution but I would advise people to get a consultant even if they know someone who has knowledge of Microsoft Power Automate, as it is the fastest way to automate it. I would rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.

The solution is cost-effective and provides excellent AI features, but the tool must be more stable and provide more integration with other applications
Pros and Cons
  • "AI Builder is a good add-on."
  • "The tool must be more stable."

What is our primary use case?

We can automate cloud flows using the product. We can use desktop flows in the product as an RPA tool. If we are working on any enterprise application like SAP, we can automate it using the tool. Power Automate Desktop is a relatively newer solution compared to UiPath.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution helps us save money and time. We automate the rule-based and repeated tasks that we do on a daily basis.

What is most valuable?

Every organization uses Microsoft products. Daily tasks and other basic Excel-based tasks can be easily done using the tool. AI Builder is a good add-on. We can very easily do some AI automation using it.

What needs improvement?

The tool must be more stable. It should also provide more integration with other applications.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for one year. I am using both the on-premises and the cloud version of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Power Automate is not that well-established and stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is more scalable than Power Automate. We have a good team developing flows on Power Automate. The product is available for everyone in our organization. More than 2000 or 3000 people might be using the tool in our organization.

How was the initial setup?

It is relatively easy to deploy the solution when it is part of the license we buy for the organization.

What about the implementation team?

The product’s maintenance is handled by a separate support team in our company. Maintenance is needed only when an application does not work or if there is any movement in the cloud.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is cost-effective if we utilize the complete Microsoft package. Power Automate is comparatively less costly than UiPath.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

UiPath is more stable than Power Automate. UiPath has Orchestrator from where all the processes are monitored, triggered, or scheduled. This feature in UiPath is far better than Power Automate. Power Automate does not have a very good orchestrator or control room to see all the processes which are running. If an organization needs a long-term solution, it might choose UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

Power Automate is improving, and it can be a good solution in the future. Power Automate is a good tool. An organization should definitely leverage the tool if they use Microsoft’s environment. It is a good add-on. We are using many Microsoft products like Power BI. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Easy to use, cost-effective solution to automate internal processes
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is relatively easy to use and cost-effective."
  • "The UI of the solution is not so good."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to automate internal processes like leave applications.

What is most valuable?

The solution is relatively easy to use and cost-effective. It is also easy to learn and understand. It is part of Microsoft 365, so it's free. Additionally, it is easy to integrate Microsoft Teams with the solution.

What needs improvement?

The UI of the solution is not so good. Power BI's reporting functionality should be improved.

The next release should include more functionalities and better reporting.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability an eight or nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the scalability a seven or eight out of ten. Around 50 people in the organization use the solution, including five to seven administrators, 30 to 40 engineers, and nine to ten sales and marketing staff.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously we used Google Suite in collaboration with many other solutions. We needed it for process automation and for creating electronic signatures. It required us to subscribe to multiple solutions. However, we wanted only one or two platforms. So, we switched to Microsoft.

What about the implementation team?

The solution is not so difficult to deploy. The deployment takes up to two hours. I could deploy the solution myself. One engineer is enough for the maintenance of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is free with Microsoft 365.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Microsoft Power Automate to those who use Microsoft 365. We search the instruction manual, FAQs, and other online documents when we face issues with the solution. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Simple to implement, but on the governance side, there isn't enough documentation
Pros and Cons
  • "It comes as a part of the Microsoft suite, which makes it an easy sell."
  • "On the governance side, there isn't enough documentation on how to govern Power Automate. People just build bespoke automation, which then becomes a problem point for different companies."

What is most valuable?

My client used it for very basic Excel file manipulation. The data was sent through the API to an ERP system. For that purpose, it worked fine, but I don't think it's the right type of solution for those things. It comes as a part of the Microsoft suite, which makes it an easy sell.

What needs improvement?

On the governance side, there isn't enough documentation on how to govern Power Automate. People just build bespoke automation, which then becomes a problem point for different companies. You might have heard lots of horror stories about Power Automate where people didn't develop according to the standards, and then it came back and gave them grief. There should be more documentation on governance and how to control it at the enterprise level.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using it for a couple of years. I last worked with it about six months ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'd rate it an eight out of ten in terms of stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'd rate it a six out of ten in terms of scalability. I find other tools easier.

It suits small, medium, and enterprise customers. It's a part of your Microsoft suite anyway.

How are customer service and support?

I didn't have to call anyone.

How was the initial setup?

It's simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It comes with the Microsoft suite. I'd rate it an eight out of ten in terms of pricing.

What other advice do I have?

It's more suited for localized automation rather than enterprise automation. It doesn't have the right governance to do enterprise automation. It's more suited for individuals, not for groups.

Overall, I'd rate it a seven out of ten.

Easier to use and integrate than other products
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution integrates more easily and with more tools than Automation Anywhere."
  • "There are frequent version updates and that impacts different algorithms so we have to adjust our code."

What is our primary use case?

Our company uses the solution to process insurance claims and related activity. We have around 80 developers and three administrators. Depending on clients' needs, we might scale in the future.

What is most valuable?

The solution is really easy to use compared to other tools.

The western license is fantastic.

The solution integrates more easily and with more tools than Automation Anywhere.

What needs improvement?

There are frequent version updates and that impacts different algorithms so we have to adjust our code.

The solution should include connectors and DevOps capabilities with its standard package.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good so is rated a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good with no doubts.

We have been developing on Microsoft's data products from beta release onwards. They bought and merged an automation company into their product so we know the different methods. We diagnose things and that feedback ends up inserted within very big containers.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is good but their response times are slow.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

We implement the solution in-house.

Our typical use cases can be handled by two or three developers and take about six to eight weeks to implement.

First, we create the DDS. Then, we create software flows, standards, and login processes. We add efforts, exceptions, vendors, record reviews, and testing. Finally, we perform UAT and production.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is reasonable and the western license is fantastic.

They have a premium service that includes connectors and the SQL server sanitizer team. If they change this service to be standard, then pricing will be even better.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also use Automation Anywhere but there is some maintenance involved.

The solution integrates with other tools better than Automation Anywhere.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is a good product. It integrates well with apps, virtual agents, and other tools. It has all the capabilities of Microsoft and Windows.

I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Affordable and capable of interacting with multiple systems, but should support orchestration and cognitive AI
Pros and Cons
  • "WinAutomation is very handy to use, and it has the power to interact with multiple systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or .NET systems."
  • "There should be a comprehensive or enterprise level of application to provide the cognitive AI, and there should be orchestration so that I can control all the robots on one station. The other tools are currently providing these features."

What is our primary use case?

I was in an insurance company prior to joining this new company, and I developed complex robots for claims processing and policy insurance. I also worked on several other processes such as interacting with APIs and downloading SharePoint reports. It was difficult to download the SharePoint report, but I did an integration in SharePoint to download the data and upload it into the local database system. So, I have created complex robots with WinAutomation.

What is most valuable?

WinAutomation is very handy to use, and it has the power to interact with multiple systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or .NET systems. It's very useful for API integration. We can also interact with the data by using wildcards and other patterns. So, there are plenty of things that are good.

What needs improvement?

There should be a comprehensive or enterprise level of application to provide the cognitive AI, and there should be orchestration so that I can control all the robots on one station. The other tools are currently providing these features. So, hyper-automation integration should be done, and it should have cognitive AI.

One drawback of WinAutomation is that it doesn't work properly on the Internet Explorer or Edge browser. On the older version of Internet Explorer or Edge, it sometimes doesn't give proper selectors while selecting the fields. I had a lot of difficulty in that area, and I want them to improve that in WinAutomation.

They should have a comprehensive platform to help the community. They should have blogs. They had a community before, but they discontinued that. Microsoft has developed a community for any support required for its product. WinAutomation should also have that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution since 2015, so it has been about eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable. It's very good. We had been running this product for seven years, and we had developed around 300 and more processes within one organization. So, there was stability.

How are customer service and support?

Initially, in 2016 or 2017, when WinAutomation was not yet acquired by Microsoft, we were having some technical issues for which I sought support from their technical team. Later on, we didn't require any support from them. We used to handle any technical problems with it from our side. I'd rate their support an eight out of ten. They were good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

It was very good. It has been very handy, and it didn't take much time for the setup. It was very easy to set up various things.

The deployment duration completely depends on the process. It depends on how long a process is. When we were developing robots in production, it didn't take much time for us to deploy them. It was very easy for us.

We had around four people at the time, and the number kept increasing. We were providing comprehensive services, so we were managing the development and engineering jobs all together at once.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Comparatively, WinAutomation is cheaper than the other automation tools. When we purchased the license, it was around $50 or $60 per user most probably per month.

What other advice do I have?

I'd definitely recommend using WinAutomation. It's very affordable, and it's durable. It gives the long-term usage scope in the organization.

Overall, I'd rate WinAutomation a seven out of ten. They have to work hard on this one. Right now, there is no competition for WinAutomation in the market. They should work on the product more.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
