Using structured workspaces has clarified roadmaps but still needs faster search and analytics
Pros and Cons
  • "I can keep everything organized in Notion, making it easy to write features and ideas clearly, explain the problem, track my work, decide what matters, prioritize everything, and store knowledge including notes and previous decisions."
  • "It has a slow loading page and laggy scrolling, which irritates me."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Notion is creating quarterly or yearly roadmaps and setting timelines to track feature and idea development. I heard about Notion from a friend and am using it for the creation of PRDs and personally learning product management so I can switch my career to product management. I use Notion to prioritize my goals.

One recent specific example of how I use Notion for my projects involved tracking one of my projects that was causing frustration. For that problem, it helped me show the real-time location of delivery drivers on a map. The success metric, complaint reduction, changed by thirty percent.

I am using Notion because it is handy for me right now. I can keep everything organized there, making it quite easy for me to use. It helps me write features and ideas clearly and explain the problem, which becomes easy for me. Additionally, I can track my work, decide what matters, prioritize everything, and store knowledge including notes and previous decisions.

What is most valuable?

The best features Notion offers are the ones I know because I have not been using many related products. I can switch between multiple databases and switch views from table, Kanban board, calendar, and timeline. I can also connect databases, see everything interconnected, generate action items, summarize meetings, write PRDs, roadmaps, and sprint boards.

There is also automation that helps trigger actions, conditions, and logic. Notion impacts my organization positively as it has made many changes for prioritizing things both personally and organizationally.

What needs improvement?

I think Notion can be improved in several areas. It has a slow loading page and laggy scrolling, which irritates me. Additionally, the search sometimes misses content inside pages, making it hard to find the exact information. The filters are not that effective, and when I need metrics, it is difficult to find them. There are no built-in charts or deep analytics dashboards, and current automation is also limited. External tools are sometimes needed, but there is no structure for that.

I would add that there is limited control for large teams, and managing access at a detailed level is difficult. Editing on the phone is clunky, making it very difficult to work if I am using the phone to do something. Offline mode has limited functionality, and I need internet for smooth use. The performance also needs improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Notion for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Notion is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Notion's scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used customer support, so I'm not sure about this. Once I get to use it, I will provide feedback.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Notion is the first solution I have used.

How was the initial setup?

I did not evaluate other options before choosing Notion because I was still new to this field. Someone suggested there are other solutions, but they told me I should go with Notion since they were already working on it and had experience with some other tools. They believed that Notion would be the best fit for me.

What was our ROI?

I am still working on finding a new job or working on new projects, so I am not sure if Notion has given me any ROI yet. Once something happens, I will provide feedback, but for now, it is still a work in progress.

What other advice do I have?

I would suggest that since I am a newbie, anyone switching to a more product management-oriented domain should work with Notion. It will be easier for them on the first try, and later on, if they gain some experience, it will become easier for them. For experienced users, since I do not have much experience, I cannot say much. I would rate this review as a six overall.

Struggled to organize complex work yet have discovered flexible ways to structure tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "I think overall Notion is a great tool, but I need to learn better how to use it and adjust it to the right task."
  • "Unfortunately, I have not seen a return on investment because I did not like it and I did not use it."

What is our primary use case?

I have tried Notion for several months. My main use case for Notion is that I was recommended by my friend to use it for tasks such as to-do lists, task management, productivity boost, and organization, so I tried it and implemented my work inside it.

I can give a specific example of how I used Notion for task management. I worked on new code in my new company, and the code was very difficult, with a lot to remember and handle. I found it very tricky, so I needed a tool to manage everything together. My friend suggested I use Notion for this task.

I have used Notion in two different ways. The first way was as a to-do list, but I have a specific app for to-do lists that I found much easier to use than Notion, which also syncs to my device very easily. For a to-do list, Notion was not a good idea. My second and main use case was to manage my code and understand the different methods and how to use them, so I used Notion for this management.

What is most valuable?

In my opinion, the best features Notion offers include a flexible database and the ability to use it with different kinds of views. However, I found it very difficult since it started to order things in groups, which really challenged how I look at things. I found myself struggling more with the tool instead of using it.

I suppose I used Notion incorrectly because so many people recommend this tool. I kept struggling with it, and even when I did my best, I kept struggling. I found it not useful for me, and I actually do not recommend this tool. However, I understand that a lot of people are using it and they are very satisfied with it.

I gave Notion a big chance and ordered things over there, trying to make it very organized. However, maybe I used the right tool for the wrong task, or maybe I used it incorrectly. All the time, this table was ordered in different ways and the table kept moving, sorted in different ways, such as in groups, which was so annoying for me. After I built this table, I just left it as is.

What needs improvement?

The experience was mostly a struggle from start to finish, and maybe I need to give it one more try on another task. For me, it was very annoying. I also tried syncing it with my phone since I wanted it to be synced on my PC and my phone, and it did not catch up.

Based on my experience, the main issue was that the table was sorted differently all the time. However, to be honest, I think I used the right tool for the wrong purpose. I do not know how it can be improved since maybe I just used it incorrectly.

I know from my friend that when the database becomes large, it becomes very slow and laggy. I did not feel it since it was still small on my side. However, he uses it all the time and it has become huge, so I believe it is slow when it becomes huge.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Notion is stable, but I found it a little bit tricky using it on my phone.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My friend is a heavy user, and for a big database, it is challenging.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used OneNote. I tried to switch because I wanted to try a new product since everybody recommended this product to me. However, I eventually came back to OneNote.

What was our ROI?

Unfortunately, I have not seen a return on investment because I did not like it and I did not use it. Basically, I spent time creating this table, and eventually I did not use it. For me, it was a waste of time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I use the free tier for pricing, setup cost, and licensing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Notion, I now evaluate other options and I am trying Obsidian for management of my tasks, so it is interesting to see if this will handle it.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Notion is to watch YouTube and understand if this tool fits your needs. I think overall Notion is a great tool, but I need to learn better how to use it and adjust it to the right task. I give this review a rating of four out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Centralized documentation has streamlined onboarding and now resolves project queries faster
Pros and Cons
  • "Since we have a centralized platform that provides all of the information, it saves time communicating with each other and holding meetings to resolve issues."

What is our primary use case?

I use Notion as a platform to store our documentation for our project. The documentation we store in Notion revolves around our project, which includes details about the local setup of the environment on the computer or system provided by the client. It also discusses how we can execute our application in the local environment on our system and in the cloud-based environment. Additionally, all things related to our application, including the architecture and all of the subcomponents that are defined, are documented there.

    What is most valuable?

The best feature Notion offers is that it provides the ability to quickly document thoughts and summarize documentation in a much more professional manner, which is very helpful. The integration it has with Slack and other tools is also beneficial, as it helps us collaborate our workspace and communication platform with Notion.

Notion has positively impacted our organization by helping us resolve queries related to the application. Since we have a centralized platform that provides all of the information, it saves time communicating with each other and holding meetings to resolve issues. It acts as a single platform to resolve all of our queries, and if anything remains unresolved, we document it there and take reference from it.

    What needs improvement?

If Notion could add an interactive feature, such as an animation for visualization of our data or something similar, I think it would be much better.

Nothing is perfect, and there is always room for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Notion for almost a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Since we only used Notion for documentation, we did not face any issues. Other people use it for various purposes, so they might have a different experience; however, from what we used, we did not face any issues. Notion was a good tool for us.

What other advice do I have?

The measurable improvements since using Notion can be thought of in terms of the number of queries it has resolved rather than the exact number of minutes saved. There are ten people in our team, and five more have joined in the past year. All of those five new people have been onboarded and integrated with our environment at a very fast pace. Within a month, they were able to get familiar with the environment and the complete application through the documentation. My advice to others looking into using Notion is that it is a good product and worth considering. I would rate this review an eight out of ten.

Creates customizable systems and improve team collaboration
    Pros and Cons
    • "Notion is a very flexible and customizable platform, allowing users to create whatever they need."
    • "I rate Notion a ten out of ten."
    • "User management needs improvement."
    • "User management needs improvement. It's difficult to determine what information is private. It's a bit complicated for me."

What is our primary use case?

I use Notion for project management, wikis, and note-taking. I create my own systems, including a content management system to manage content creation, approval with clients, and more.

    What is most valuable?

Notion is a very flexible and customizable platform, allowing users to create whatever they need. The most impactful feature for project management is the ability to invite multiple client stakeholders without complication.

Once I understand the basics, it's easy to use despite an initial learning curve. It also significantly improves team collaboration through customized views and visualizations of data.

    What needs improvement?

User management needs improvement. It's difficult to determine what information is private. It's a bit complicated for me.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Notion for more than two years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I encountered a problem once when there was an outage for a couple of days. Otherwise, it is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Notion is highly scalable. It's beneficial as it can be used for small projects or by larger teams.

How are customer service and support?

I have never had to contact customer service, which indicates the product is quite stable.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Notion, I used a mix of solutions like Asana and Google Drive. Notion replaced several tools for me by combining their functions.

    How was the initial setup?

When you know how to use it, the initial setup is easy. However, my first impression was that it was complicated, rating it a three out of ten initially.

    What about the implementation team?

I did the deployment on my own. Notion is versatile enough to be used by an individual or a large team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For my use, the pricing is reasonable. I pay around $100 per year. However, inviting additional users can become costly.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have considered other similar products like COVA or Nucleo but preferred to stick with Notion.

What other advice do I have?

Be patient with Notion during the initial days, and invest time in learning and understanding it through videos and studies. The tool becomes indispensable once you are used to it.

I rate Notion a ten out of ten.

Collaborating on shared templates has streamlined intern reports but still needs richer presets
    Pros and Cons
    • "It is helpful for collecting resources and managing them on the same page, and I can share my templates with other teammates or other employees, and they can easily access and edit those templates."
    • "Notion could offer more independence in customization or have pre-built templates and more templates that help others."

What is our primary use case?

I use Notion for scheduling, note taking, and resource managing. I collect links, all interns' resumes, their offer letters, and some other paperwork reports of interns. It is helpful for collecting resources and managing them on the same page. I can share my templates with other teammates or other employees, and they can easily access and edit those templates.

When I need someone to share their reports on the platform, I share my Notion template with my teammates. They open it and add their reports to my Notion template, along with any work-related links or any tasks they have signed up for the next week. They can edit freely. I find this very useful because I do not have to ask them. They simply go to the Notion template link that I share, and every week they send their report and task list of the tasks they have completed or when the activity has finished.

    What is most valuable?

I can use any templates from any influencer who has used Notion. I can use their templates freely and customize my own template as well. This is a very helpful feature.

I can access free templates on Notion and find a student resource management or timetable template. I can click and customize it according to my needs. It is helpful for collecting resources and managing them on the same page. I can share my templates with other teammates or other employees, and they can easily access and edit those templates.

    What needs improvement?

Notion could offer more independence in customization or have pre-built templates and more templates that help others. Using a blank sheet and customizing your own template takes a lot of time for a user and sometimes becomes hectic.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Notion since my school days. It has been two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not experienced any crashes and downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am working on a small project that basically needs team leaders, maybe two to four. I do not think I have ever experienced any scalability issues with Notion. I handle small projects, so I do not have any knowledge of Notion's scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I have never needed to reach out to the team support or customer support for any resources or anything.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am using the free version of Notion. I do not think I have any price setup and licensing costs.

What other advice do I have?

I think Notion is a good app and it is very useful for students and employees, including organization employees, so they can use it freely. I would rate this product a 7 out of 10.

Organizing academic and internship tasks has improved but template complexity still needs work
    Pros and Cons
    • "Notion is a very good app that keeps my work and data safe."
    • "Notion sometimes gets complicated because of the templates, and I think they should have something like AI-prepared templates that could help."

What is our primary use case?

I maintain a record and schedule work, and I task team members using Notion. I designed a Notion page where we have different forms and tables for each task, including a date, week, starting day of the week, task description, completion date, and assessment or feedback type tables. We provide these to our interns so they can fill them out.

Notion is shareable with friends and team members. When I use it for my purposes, I schedule tasks for them and send it to each member, who then responds by editing or taking tasks and adding feedback on the same template. I do not have to carry multiple forms; I simply go to Notion and check the progress and reviews.

    What is most valuable?

Notion offers features that allow me to freely design anything I want. For student purposes, I can design my own template or obtain free templates from their website or from anyone who has designed a Notion template.

I initially use premade templates from YouTubers or channels I find on the internet, and then I customize them according to my needs by changing features, modifying tables, and adjusting information for my own work.

Notion is a very good app that keeps my work and data safe. I use it for weekly reports. As a student or organized team leader, I need to make reports or organize my tasks and timeline so I do not get overwhelmed or confused about what I should do and have my resources available in Notion.

    What needs improvement?

Notion sometimes gets complicated because of the templates, and I think they should have something like AI-prepared templates that could help.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Notion since my school time for academic purposes and now I am using Notion for my internship and company work as well.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Notion is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I do not have much information regarding Notion's scalability since I am an intern who takes small tasks and a small portion of a company, so I am not knowledgeable about Notion scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support from Notion is good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not know anything about pricing, setup cost, and licensing because I am an intern and I did not purchase or set up anything. I received a prepaid account.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have not evaluated any other options before. I have used Notion since my school time, and now in my organization I am using Notion, so I do not think I ever evaluated another option.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Notion is to use premade templates and find the right template for their own work. I would rate my overall experience with Notion as a seven out of ten.

Enables seamless organization and interface customization while being easy to use
    Pros and Cons
    • "It is easy to use, and I love its UI."
    • "Customer support is great, effective, and easy to reach."
    • "The only problem I experience is that it often hangs."
    • "The only problem I experience is that it often hangs. I might find myself trying to load a new page, but I am unable to move from one page to another due to frequent hanging."

What is our primary use case?

Communication, stakeholder management, and engagement are ideal use cases for this solution.

    What is most valuable?

Arranging several subsections within a section is easy by left-clicking and moving them around with the mouse. I can organize the interface the way I want, and everything I get is adaptable.

    What needs improvement?

It is easy to use, and I love its UI. The only problem I experience is that it often hangs. I might find myself trying to load a new page, but I am unable to move from one page to another due to frequent hanging.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Notion for project management over the past year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'd rate its stability at eight out of ten. During the day, especially around eight PM GMT plus three hours, there's a long loading period for content. While incidents happen three times a week at most, they usually occur once weekly.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is great, effective, and easy to reach. I would give it a rating of ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I tried using another solution, however, I didn't like its UI feature. Compared to Notion, it required too many clicks, so I left it alone.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's affordable and offers community support if I get stuck. I can find help through community forums like Google, where people share insights on navigating problems. Many people understand it, offering useful feedback from various HITRID.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

    I don't use alternate solutions.

What other advice do I have?

The decision to use this tool was solely mine. I appreciate its friendly UI and monochrome colors, which avoid excessive color mixing. This feature and the ease of navigation have kept me committed. I can understand it quickly compared to other tools.

I rate the overall solution eight out of ten; it is a basket of convenience.

Strong integration capabilities with seamless updates and collaboration
    Pros and Cons
    • "Notion has very strong integration capabilities."
    • "Notion is heavily used in my workflow."
    • "If the internet or Notion's servers are down, I cannot access information. This is a big disadvantage."
    • "Notion has one big downside: the lack of an offline mode. If the internet or Notion's servers are down, I cannot access information. This is a big disadvantage."

What is our primary use case?

Currently, I am not actually using any CRM. I am a writer, so my focus is to write. I mainly cover hosting-focused articles, like V2 Cloud for virtual desktops. When I need to review them, I visit the site, take a trial, and then write the review. Internally, I use Notion to share outlines, and for personal use, I use it for note-taking, task management, and collaboration.

    What is most valuable?

The main purposes are note-taking, task management, and collaboration. Notion has very strong integration capabilities. It also automatically updates itself, which adds new features and fixes bugs.

Notion's scalability works fine for our small company. Basically, Notion is used internally for sharing outlines. It is also used for note-taking, task management, and collaboration, which helps internally for our small company.

    What needs improvement?

Notion has one big downside: the lack of an offline mode. If the internet or Notion's servers are down, I cannot access information. This is a big disadvantage.

Sometimes, Notion can be slow, especially if there is too much information or during peak times. This is mostly noticeable to technical users. Another issue is that there are cases where people have lost information due to bugs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Notion for many years and I have been working as a freelancer for the last ten years. Now I have joined the company, however, from my freelancing work, I used Notion pretty on and off. In the last few years, I have been using it very regularly.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Sometimes, Notion can be slow, especially if there is too much information or during peak times, but it is mostly noticeable to technical users.

    How was the initial setup?

It is not complex to install. For someone technical, it is very easy. For beginners, it should be easy as well.

What other advice do I have?

Notion is heavily used in my workflow. The main concern is the lack of offline mode. Other than that, it is great. My rating for Notion is nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises
