Centralized access has improved security workflows and still needs better visibility and UX
Pros and Cons
  • "Implementing MFA and role-based access control has significantly reduced the risk of unauthorized access, especially with sensitive health records or FinTech data."
  • "There are a couple of areas for improvement in OneLogin. While it is strong overall, the key areas that could be worked on include the ease of configuration for advanced workflows, as setting up complex role-based policies or integration across different systems in the HealthTech market requires considerable technical effort."

What is our primary use case?

Our main use case for OneLogin is managing secure and centralized access across our HealthTech and FinTech platforms, primarily in real-life scenarios when team members need access to tools like the patient management system, financial dashboard, or different admin panels. OneLogin allows us to help them log in and securely access everything they need, and it also helps us enforce role-based security access controls, ensuring sensitive data points are protected.

OneLogin helps us manage role-based security controls by allowing us to define and enforce different access policies based on various user roles, scopes, and attributes, with a primary focus on security. In practice, we generally map users, such as clinicians and support staff or the finance team, to specific roles, with a focus on the HealthTech workflow. For example, whenever a clinician needs to access patient records at the treatment tool, the finance team should not have access to that data, while the finance team would have access to financial data. These are straightforward scenarios, and OneLogin also supports automated user provisioning and de-provisioning, which is really helpful. Whenever a user role changes or they leave the organization, their access is updated or revoked instantly, depending on the workflow.

What is most valuable?

The primary feature that we value about OneLogin is the security access control, and apart from that, there are many management features. First is Single Sign-On, or SSO, which allows users to access multiple platforms and applications with a single login. Then there is MFA, including risk detection, where the smart factor for risk-based authentication is very helpful for us. User provisioning and lifecycle management are also crucial, as they automate the onboarding and offboarding process, creating, updating, and removing access based on role changes. This reduces manual errors and ensures compliance, particularly in regulated environments like healthcare.

OneLogin has positively impacted our organization by improving security efficiency and access control. Implementing MFA and role-based access control has significantly reduced the risk of unauthorized access, especially with sensitive health records or FinTech data. We have seen improvements in our user lifecycle management; for example, onboarding and offboarding are much faster and more consistent. The system provides visibility and control, allowing us to manage access effectively and stay compliant with internal policies.

What needs improvement?

There are a couple of areas for improvement in OneLogin. While it is strong overall, the key areas that could be worked on include the ease of configuration for advanced workflows, as setting up complex role-based policies or integration across different systems in the HealthTech market requires considerable technical effort. A more intuitive setup process or guided configuration would be beneficial.

Visibility is another area that could improve, as determining where problems lie with OneLogin is not always straightforward. Additional logs, clearer error messaging, and better debugging tools would help. Additionally, UI and UX could be streamlined. The integration flexibility with niche platforms can also be improved, but the three key areas I have mentioned are focusing on visibility during troubleshooting and making debugging easier.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

OneLogin is a highly scalable system.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is pretty good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before OneLogin, we relied on Microsoft Active Directory, managing multiple credentials across systems. We also evaluated Okta but ultimately chose OneLogin for the balance of features, ease of deployment, and competitive cost, allowing us to centralize identity management and automate workflows effectively. I previously used Microsoft Active Directory and evaluated Okta, but chose OneLogin for centralized identity management, which supports faster processing for user onboarding, offboarding, and role provisioning.

What was our ROI?

When analyzing our investment return, there is a clear return regarding measurable time savings and reduced operational overhead, despite any concerns about cost. The comparison of previous manual tasks, which used to take one to two hours, is now reduced to ten to fifteen minutes. From a security standpoint, ROI is also significant, as security breaches cost companies billions each year.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My advice for those looking into OneLogin is to research other options like Okta or Microsoft Entra. Make use of features like SSO, MFA, and SmartFactor, but configure them thoughtfully to balance security and user experience. It is crucial to plan your identity architecture carefully to avoid disruption during rollout or operation. Invest the time upfront in planning, as this will be very beneficial.

Centralized access has simplified user logins and has improved cross-application authentication
Pros and Cons
  • "My impressions of the Identity Synchronization across directories functionality in OneLogin is that it is seamless and syncs every identity seamlessly."
  • "The areas for improvement in OneLogin include better analytics since we do not have very end-to-end visualization of user access logs."

What is our primary use case?

OneLogin is used for signing protocol, signing applications, and single sign-on for multiple users across Office 365, Salesforce, and some AWS users.

What is most valuable?

The best feature of OneLogin is that it is easy to integrate. We found that it integrated seamlessly with our Office 365 and Salesforce, making it the best feature.

Beyond integration, we receive monitoring, but I feel that integration is significantly better than other identity tools when compared to Okta and Azure AD.

My impression of OneLogin is that it is smooth when providing a seamless user experience for signing in and authenticating applications. We do not have to use multiple user IDs and passwords, as we have created one set of users, making it very smooth and efficient to manage user privileges.

My impressions of the Identity Synchronization across directories functionality in OneLogin is that it is seamless and syncs every identity seamlessly.

What needs improvement?

The areas for improvement in OneLogin include better analytics since we do not have very end-to-end visualization of user access logs. Additionally, policy customization needs improvement as we cannot assign specific policies to specific customers. The admin dashboard is cleaner but can be improved, and from my point of view, it is not as user-friendly compared to others such as Okta and Azure AD.

In my comparison of OneLogin with other solutions and vendors, I state that it provides us smooth integration, as it integrates easily, but it lacks deeper end-to-end analytics and broader integration support, which Okta previously provided. Okta also offers deeper analytics and its admin dashboard is cleaner, but the user-friendliness and integration are smoother with OneLogin.

I do not rate it a ten because from the policy perspective, there needs to be improvement. We cannot give fine-grained access to users, and the policy is not mature enough.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have recently moved from Okta to OneLogin by One Identity approximately eight to nine months ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I give OneLogin a stability rating of eight point five.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate scalability for OneLogin as a ten.

How are customer service and support?

For support, I give it a ten because we have not had to initiate any support beyond the initial integration. Once again, I rate support a ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The advantages of customer identity and access management in OneLogin for external clients include cutting costs since we were using Okta before, along with providing a seamless user experience. When deploying Okta, we faced multiple issues with logging and user synchronization as users did not sync to multiple identities.

How was the initial setup?

OneLogin is easy to maintain, and since it has not been that long since it was deployed, approximately nine months, we have not had to perform any maintenance on OneLogin.

What about the implementation team?

We are the customers of OneLogin, and we have integrated this product.

What was our ROI?

When considering the pricing of OneLogin, I find it to be cost-efficient, especially when comparing it heavily with Okta, which is much more expensive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

OneLogin was purchased through a direct purchase via the marketplace, rather than through the AWS Marketplace.

What other advice do I have?

OneLogin has not had Vigilance AI or adaptive login flows enabled because of compliance audits. I do not have complete knowledge of HR's role in managing employee identities. As a technical engineer, I have deployed and maintained the solution, but regarding HR, I do not have the complete picture of how they integrate since it is a separate HR team.

My advice to others looking into OneLogin is that if they want a solution that can easily integrate with their current infrastructure, then I would advise them to consider OneLogin because it integrates easily with multiple solutions and logins. My overall review rating for OneLogin is nine out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used a different solution recently comparable to OneLogin.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing, setup cost, and licensing were formal, and they are scaled according to user capability. They provide you with the price, and then you decide which package suits you based on how you plan to use OneLogin for enterprise purposes. If it is for multiple applications, the cost should be higher.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Our enterprise did not evaluate most applications that could work as OneLogin. When we identified OneLogin, we settled on it to see if we could check for other relevant applications.

What other advice do I have?

I am impressed with OneLogin as the main data entry point for accessing most websites from a secure login entity, which is why I could really recommend it to other enterprises.

I advise others looking into using OneLogin that it is a more secure entry point that can secure your data and password. It simplifies everything regarding security and can lead to cost savings while being very efficient.

I am satisfied at this time and can say that OneLogin is the best when it comes to enterprise security solutions, and I recommend it fully. I gave this review a rating of eight out of ten.

Single sign-on has streamlined secure access with adaptive multifactor for all applications
Pros and Cons
  • "OneLogin delivers a very good user experience with true single sign-on that minimizes authentication overhead and allows consistent access across applications."
  • "The one area for enhancement I can suggest is the initial setup, which requires considerable planning to execute the deployment."

What is our primary use case?

As an engineer, I primarily use OneLogin to implement single sign-on and manage authentication for different applications, which has significantly helped us connect Active Directory with cloud apps and control user access. This makes user management easier for both the IT team and end users.

When a user logs in from the office network, they gain direct access to apps without additional steps. However, if the same user logs in from a new device, multifactor authentication is triggered, ensuring smooth access for employees.

I use SmartFactor Authentication to adjust authentication flows in real-time based on the risk score associated with the login attempt. Each login attempt is evaluated in real-time based on several parameters including the user's real-time location, device trustworthiness, IP reputation, and behavior patterns. The risk score determines whether to allow the application, trigger MFA, or enforce strict verification.

I use the adaptive login flow for Vigilance AI, which has greatly impacted our risk detection and control over authentication.

What is most valuable?

OneLogin provides a smooth single sign-on experience for users, along with SmartFactor improving security and usability while significantly reducing password-related support tickets.

Automation is an additional valuable feature that helps us assign applications to users automatically, reducing manual work for the IT team and making onboarding much faster than previously experienced.

The integration of phishing-resistant device trust offers a strong authentication process, significantly enhancing security by preventing phishing-based attacks. Post-adaptation, it makes authentication easier and faster for employee users compared to traditional multifactor authentication.

Based on my hands-on experience with OneLogin, I do not see any features lacking and it provides a full feature set with no immediate need for improvement.

What needs improvement?

The one area for enhancement I can suggest is the initial setup, which requires considerable planning to execute the deployment. Otherwise, everything else is excellent and I do not see any improvement needed for OneLogin at this time.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using OneLogin for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

OneLogin is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

OneLogin is outstanding in terms of scalability and I have not faced any challenges as it is highly scalable, especially for growing organizations and enterprise environments.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support team is strong and effective, assisting in troubleshooting challenges related to single sign-on setup, Active Directory sync-up, and multifactor authentication policies.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have been using OneLogin from day one and there was not a different solution prior to this.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup requires considerable planning to execute the deployment. Automation helps us assign applications to users automatically, reducing manual work for the IT team and making onboarding much faster than previously experienced.

Single sign-on has unified access, improved security, and eliminated orphan user accounts
Pros and Cons
  • "The best feature that OneLogin offers in my experience is how much time it saves everyone, not just IT but every single employee in the organization."
  • "However, one thing that could be simplified is the initial setup because it was somewhat tricky during implementation in the initial phase."

What is our primary use case?

OneLogin's main use case in our organization is ensuring that the right person has access to the right tools by bringing everything under control. It serves as one place to manage all access and provides one login for all employees. OneLogin helps manage access for our employees by giving every employee a single login to access everything they need. They log in once at the start of their workday with their company username and password, and they are ready to go without waiting for anything. There are no more forgotten passwords to juggle and no more account lockouts, just one simple login and employees are ready to work.

What is most valuable?

The best feature that OneLogin offers in my experience is how much time it saves everyone, not just IT but every single employee in the organization. Employees no longer waste time logging in with credentials because before OneLogin, people wasted considerable time trying to get into applications, dealing with forgotten passwords, account lockouts, and waiting for reset emails. These issues have been completely solved with OneLogin.

Users benefit from a good user interface to log in that is very simple and user-friendly. Employees are very satisfied with this solution because they are not stuck having to remember multiple passwords or log in to each application individually whenever they need it. Logging in once provides access to everything.

Before OneLogin, security was inconsistent across applications, where some applications had strong passwords while others had weak ones, and some had multi-factor authentication while others did not. After implementing OneLogin, the same strong security standard applies everywhere because authentication goes through OneLogin first. This has closed many security gaps we had in our application login processes.

OneLogin solved a significant challenge for us regarding the orphan account problem, which was our biggest and most embarrassing issue before implementation. We ran an audit for deployment and found multiple accounts still active in our various applications belonging to people who had left the company, which was flagged as high priority. This problem no longer exists because automated de-provisioning means that the moment someone leaves the organization, every access point is closed immediately.

OneLogin has made three important improvements to our organization. It has significantly increased the security of our SaaS applications, it is saving time for every user because there are no manual processes, and anyone with just one login can access everything with security.

What needs improvement?

I do not see any significant issues or challenges with OneLogin because it provides good security with simplified management of the login process for users. However, one thing that could be simplified is the initial setup because it was somewhat tricky during implementation in the initial phase.

Single sign-on has simplified authentication and now reduces login-related support tickets
Pros and Cons
  • "Since implementing OneLogin, I have been seeing a significant reduction in login-related support tickets, approximately a 30% decrease."
  • "Other organizations can use OneLogin, but they can also refer to Okta."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for OneLogin revolves around application integration and user authentication. I primarily utilize it to implement Single Sign-On across internal and external applications, which significantly simplifies the login process for users.

I use OneLogin for Single Sign-On with an internal project management tool that our team uses alongside a customer relationship management CRM system. Before integrating OneLogin, users had to remember separate login credentials for each application, which was a hassle and often led to frustration. The process has become much smoother with login pages, authentication, and access granted.

What is most valuable?

The best features OneLogin offers are Single Sign-On, multiple Multi-Factor Authentication, and user provisioning.

Multi-Factor Authentication is generally useful for adding an extra layer of security, which is crucial, especially for the sensitive nature of the data we handle.

OneLogin has had several positive impacts on my organization in several key areas. Single Sign-On and Multi-Factor Authentication have been beneficial. Additionally, the user authentication has been improved remarkably. Before OneLogin, our team was burdened with managing multiple credentials, but now it is much more efficient.

Since implementing OneLogin, I have been seeing a significant reduction in login-related support tickets, approximately a 30% decrease.

I do utilize Smart Factor Authentication with OneLogin. I find it to be a really valuable feature for balancing security and usability.

What needs improvement?

OneLogin can add more analytics and reporting and integrate with more third-party applications.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

OneLogin is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

OneLogin is a good scalable product.

How are customer service and support?

Until now, it is great. I have not used their customer support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not that difficult. I have used it, and while it was a bit tricky for some time, it was manageable.

The setup was good and easy. I am still using the free trial, but I will be purchasing it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Other organizations can use OneLogin, but they can also refer to Okta. I have not used Okta until now, but I am hearing that it is more great than OneLogin.

What other advice do I have?

I am still using OneLogin, so I am still exploring the app and need some more time.

The experience has been smooth and quite positive. My review rating for OneLogin is 8.5 out of 10.
