A simple command allows moving from the primary to secondary site and back, without data loss
Pros and Cons
  • "It's very easy to use it. It's very hard to configure, but it's very easy to use."
  • "When compared with other products, this product is very good because it's easy to move from primary to secondary sites. With other products, you need to build everything from the base. With Oracle Data Cloud, you can move from the primary to the secondary and return back to the primary by a very simple command, and you never lose data."
  • "I would like them to make it easier. The creation process is very long. There is a very long cookbook that we needed to build. It requires the DBA to build it well, and when you don't build it well it causes a lot of problems. We would like this process to be more automatic."

What is our primary use case?

This product is used for building the DRP, for databases. We use it when there is a corruption on our main site.

What is most valuable?

It's very easy to use it. It's very hard to configure, but it's very easy to use.

What needs improvement?

There is a little bit of a problem that we are concerned about, where there is a gap happening between the primary and the DRP  - the product skips. We only found it when we move to the secondary site, the backup site.

I would also like them to make it easier. The creation process is very long. There is a very long cookbook that we needed to build. It requires the DBA to build it well, and when you don't build it well it causes a lot of problems. We would like this process to be more automatic.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is very good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's easy to scale. The scalability is good.

How is customer service and technical support?

Oracle does not provide very good support. It has been very bad support. I'm not talking about this product, I have not used technical support for this product. I'm talking about Oracle.

It takes them a long time to resolve problems, maybe months. Just in the last year, I opened four issues with Oracle that took them about four months to resolve. The problem is not that they have no knowledge, the problem is that we are moving from person to person, and it takes a long time until the problem gets to the right person.

What other advice do I have?

When selecting a vendor, what's important for me is very good support.

When compared with other products, this product is very good because it's easy to move from primary to secondary sites. With other products, you need to build everything from the base. With Oracle Data Cloud, you can move from the primary to the secondary and return back to the primary by a very simple command, and you never lose data. This is very important.

Oracle Cloud is cost effective and easy to implement.

It is user friendly and easy to navigate, but the technical support needs improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "The features allow you to connect the service solutions with the client's requirements. It is user-friendly, easy to navigate and provides assistance."
  • "The customization and the requests put through were not flexible enough."

What is our primary use case?

Oracle Cloud Platform is user-friendly. It is used for our infrastructure and other services. A form or a database can be created where codes are uploaded. Due to the recent developments, you can also easily upload all the solutions on the cloud, without any plug-ins or forms. The conditions are already defaulted and you will just require it to configure. The platform is new, with a lot of features. However, it isn't as comfortable as AWS and others. Now they are receiving a lot of patches and upgrades which are customized according to the requirements, according to the gaps, including the reconnection filter.

What is most valuable?

The features allow you to connect the service solutions with the client's requirements. It is user-friendly, easy to navigate and provides assistance.

What needs improvement?

The customization and the requests put through were not flexible enough. The requests needed to be written and then dispatched to Oracle. The solutions were uncertain, some were resolved early, whereas some of them took time to be dispatched. Oracle needs to address the issues according to the country.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Oracle Cloud Platform for three and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable, but more stability is required because of changes in nature. Updates happen and there are bugs reported. They need to fix those bugs which hamper stability sometimes. In many cases, customization is required across all the systems and companies, which again disrupts the work. Similarly, issues are reported when they are moving to production. Otherwise, it works fine. I rate the stability a four out of five.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is easy to scale and that is the reason we can use Oracle Cloud Platform in our enterprise.

How are customer service and support?

The requested logging takes time because when an issue comes up, the database isn’t updated with the newest solutions, and takes weeks to resolve the issues. They need to work on customer support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used SAP. SAP is more of a technical code which made it hard for me to cope with. In comparison, Oracle is more user-friendly and offers consultation.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. The deployment and the time depend on the project. It's based on the technology that is available for its upload, volume, the nature of the product, and the volume of work we are going to configure. Depending on these, it can be done in minutes or in hours.

Depending on the issue, the maintenance and the requirement of support are also uncertain. Regular maintenance is usually done by the employees. In case of a bigger update, then the requirements change and engineers are required.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is cheaper as a solution model. It isn’t cheaper than SAP but offers more features and competition.

What other advice do I have?

This solution is much more user-friendly and easy to navigate. It doesn’t require much training, from the end user, or manager's perspective. They can communicate with a lot of other platforms internally and it's beneficial. Overall, it is a nice package and I will rate it seven out of ten.

Does everything we need it to, great tech support
Pros and Cons
  • "Overall, I would say that Oracle Cloud provides support with zero down time and the high probability is very good."
  • "Oracle Cloud's price is very high."

What is most valuable?

What I find the most valuable is the fact that there is zero down time for automatic offer. That is very good design for this environment. Overall, I would say that Oracle Cloud provides support with zero down time and the high probability is very good.

What needs improvement?

Oracle Cloud's price is very high. Overall, Oracle Cloud is doing everything I need it to. I have not had any issues with the application, deployment, and implementation. It is very suitable for us, especially considering our needs. Other than the price, I do not see where any further changes could be made.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this product for the last three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Oracle Cloud is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not had any issues with scalability.

How are customer service and support?

A scalable backup solution with simple configuration
Pros and Cons
  • "The product's configuration is simple."
  • "The solution does not follow a retention policy while taking ad hoc backups. Since it does not follow the retention policy, we had to do the manual task to check the backups."

What is most valuable?

The product's configuration is simple.

What needs improvement?

The solution does not follow a retention policy while taking ad hoc backups. Since it does not follow the retention policy, we had to do the manual task to check the backups.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the product for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is scalable and we can increase the resources which we need to pay.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's overall support is good if you chose the right platform.

How was the initial setup?

The product's setup is easy. The tool's setup is a two-step procedure. You need to create a policy and enable automatic backup. The product's maintenance is handled by the vendor.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the solution a seven out of ten. The product's backup and configuration are simple. Database maintenance is manageable by engineers.

OCI's best features are its price, databases, and Linux compatibility.

What needs improvement?

OCI's user interface is awful and needs to be modernized.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

How are customer service and support?

OCI's support is very good.

How was the initial setup?

I would rate the setup process eight out of ten. Deployment took around half an hour.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

OCI's pricing is one of its best features. However, customers may prefer a lower price, so from their perspective, I rate its price five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I'd definitely recommend OCI to other users and would rate it eight out of ten.
