Top rated ERP, but not very user friendly and tech support is lacking.

Valuable Features:

SAP ERP provides business efficiency to the basic business functions of finance, inventory, production, customer service, sales all in one database. Is designed for middle and large size companies. The database can be designed for specific industries, and there is the ability to choose features specific to your companies needs. There is an allowance for multiple company databases to be combined into one, which can reduce company costs, and reduce data redundancy. SAP ERP is top rated in functionality compared to other ERP systems that we also evaluated.

Room for Improvement:

The price of SAP ERP is greater than other companies with the equivalent product. Technical support is not as efficient as our company would like. It is very difficult to know when upgrades or patches are available. SAP ERP is not as user friendly for new computer users.

I would agree that SAP is top rated ERP solution and I would also agree that for some users it is not user freindly. System Tailoring is importent factor which can make the system user friendly. There is lot of improvement is required (as far as my access is concerned) in doucmentation. Every transaction produce new document. It is ok if it is at backend but frontend it is not helpful. The return processes can be improved much.

Useful for output storing, algorithm and reporting purposes
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup was straightforward."
  • "It has a high cost."

What is our primary use case?

The SAP ERP is on a single-layer reporting process, and we use SAP ERP for output storing, algorithm and reporting purposes.

What is most valuable?

It is helpful for reporting processes, and we have to figure out the times we store that data and if we need any additions. So we use it to automate our PR processes.

What needs improvement?

It has a high cost.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for almost two years, and it is deployed on-premises.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. We have about 15 companies using SAP ERP.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not have details about the price.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution a nine out of ten.

It helps manage enterprise resources
Pros and Cons
  • "ERP can help manage all enterprise resources. It brings them together and provides some analytical data to inform management decisions."
  • "I'm only working on the front end with ERP's user interface, which isn't very easy for end-users. It's an old-school interface, so it's often challenging to find what you need."

What is most valuable?

ERP can help manage all enterprise resources. It brings them together and provides some analytical data to inform management decisions.

What needs improvement?

I'm only working on the front end with ERP's user interface, which isn't very easy for end-users. It's an old-school interface, so it's often challenging to find what you need. It could be because I'm not well trained in ERP. I occasionally work with the user interface when I'm negotiating a contract.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using ERP for five or six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability depends on several factors, not only the SAP software but also your infrastructure, configuration, and support. All those aspects should be considered together.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted SAP for support with ERP, but I have a relationship with them. My previous company was a software vendor that sold many applications similar to ERP, so I can express my general opinion.

SAP's support work is divided into three different areas: production environment, testing, and development. There is a specific approach for each area, with a different level of availability, response times, etc. Of course, the production environment is more critical, and SAP allocates more resources to it than others.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SAP ERP eight out of 10.
