Our primary use case is for backups.
We are a reseller. We use Veeam for a virtualization platform and we use Veritas for enterprise backup.
The solution is deployed on-premise.
Our primary use case is for backups.
We are a reseller. We use Veeam for a virtualization platform and we use Veritas for enterprise backup.
The solution is deployed on-premise.
The most valuable features are the ability to create a trust relationship and historical reports.
The pricing could be improved, and the interface could be more intuitive.
Our company has been using Veritas NetBackup for 10 years.
It is stable.
The solution is scalable.
I haven't had any issues with technical support. It's okay.
Pricing is expensive, so it could be lower.
I would rate this solution 6 out of 10.
NetBackup is used for backup in an enterprise environment. If you have VMware, Windows or Linux, and complicated database machines, like Power or Eonix, then NetBackup is appropriate for this kind of environment.
I like NetBackup's accelerator feature. You can take a full backup with incremental speed and integrate it with block tracking.
NetBackup's reporting features are a little poor.
We've used NetBackup for nearly six years.
NetBackup is highly stable.
I would give NetBackup a 10 out of 10 for scalability.
I rate NetBackup nine out of 10. If you're implementing it, I wouldn't recommend installing the media server on a VMware environment. I would also suggest getting some limitations for a LAN-free backup.
I primarily use the solution to back up vital aspects of our workload.
The backup aspect of the solution is the most valuable aspect of the solution.
The product is quite flexible.
The product is stable and reliable.
We would like the Java console to be updated. They need to redo the console so that it is no longer on Java. It's outdated.
I've been using the solution for three years. I've used it for a while.
I have found the solution to be stable for the most part. It's not buggy. I haven't dealt with glitches. it doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable so far.
I haven't really used technical support. I wouldn't be able to effectively comment on how their services are or if they are helpful if a client has an issue.
I did not handle the initial setup. Therefore, I cannot speak to how easy or difficult the setup process is, or how long the deployment takes
We're a Veritas partner.
I use two versions of the solution: 8.3.0.1 and 9.1. We use it both on-premises and on the cloud.
I would rate the solution at an eight out of ten. I've been pretty satisfied with it overall.
My primary use case of this solution is backup for the production server and then for the development. The platform is back up for Linux, Selaris, HP, Apex, IAAS, AIX, and then for the virtualization, VMware, backup to AWS, and the container route.
Veritas NetBackup's best feature is its three-tier backup, which makes the process a lot faster. I have also found their duplication feature to be valuable, as it allows duplication in the client side, a media server side, or in OST storage. The product also has a lot of compatibility with platforms.
I think the main area that could be improved is the pricing, to make it more competitive. In the next release, I would like to see the ability to back up Office 365 and Google Workspace.
I have been using this solution for around ten years.
This is a stable product.
The product is scalable.
The remote support and their support center are good. The knowledge base provided on their website is also very helpful.
The product is easy to set up in small environments, but it would be more complex in larger ones.
I think Veritas NetBackup is the perfect product for a backup system. I would rate this product as nine out of ten.
I use it to back up servers, databases, files, and photos.
I like the virtual server backup.
Maybe they could add more cloud solutions.
I've been using NetBackup for more than 10 years.
It's very stable and very good.
It's easy to scale.
Technical support is very good.
It's somewhat complex. It wasn't very easy but it's fixable. It takes about one or two hours to deploy.
I would give it a nine out of 10.
We use Veritas NetBackup to backup any system or database.
The main features of this solution are deduplication, compression, ease of use, simplistic user interface, and compatibility with all the backup service systems.
I have been using Veritas NetBackup for more than 10 years.
The solution is not that stable because it has to be monitored and administered every day. The stability could be improved.
We have approximately 10 customers using this solution.
We were satisfied with the technical support.
The installation requires some knowledge, but the procedure is easy and there is a lot of clear detailed documentation you can follow available.
The installation time can vary depending on the size of the environment. On average it can take between five to seven days.
We did the implementation of the solution and we used one engineer.
There is a license required for this solution and it is priced based upon the data used.
I would recommend this solution.
I rate Veritas NetBackup a nine out of ten.
We use the solution for the full and incremental backup of databases such as Sybase.
We have an issue with the last version on the latest backup of the solution. It's not compatible with Sybase 16.5.
Two days ago the solution worked fine and we were able to use it for all our Unix and Sybase servers, as well as the back-end database. But, now there is a need for us to change the lag about a report in respect of the media on Facebook.
We primarily use Unix servers, not those of Windows.
I have been using Veritas NetBackup for ten years, since 2010.
The solution is stable.
In the past we worked with Veeam and Avamar, at which point we made a determination of which solution would best serve our projects.
The initial setup was complex.
The price is okay.
I rate Veritas NetBackup as a seven out of ten.
We use NetBackup primarily for backup and recovery. When you have some data, you need to back up that data. If there is any disruption or deletion or if there's a disaster, you can have your data back and restore it and use it.
The deduplication feature is useful. Deduplication and compression features are what I like about NetBackup.
It would be better if it had a cloud integration feature. I would like to use a single product for the cloud instances and the on-premise instances. The price could also be better.
I would like to have a backup option for end-user devices. That means end-user devices like mobile devices, VDI solutions, desktops, laptops, etc. In this COVID time, most of us work from home, and end-user device backup is really important today.
I have been using Veritas NetBackup for almost 15 years.
No product is stable, but it hasn't been an issue. It's an old product and a mature product, and it hasn't been an issue. We have a customized offering created with the NetBackup and Pure Storage, and it's working well.
Scalability depends on the customer profile. Each product has its own unique selling points, and some customers prefer to use other software like Commvault. We have most of the virtual environment in Veeam because our customers prefer it. But NetBackup is equally good.
Technical support is good. If we find an issue, we get in touch with their support immediately.
The initial setup isn't complex; I would say that it's moderately easy to implement this solution. We need to have some machines. It's a resource-centric server. If we're using it for enterprises, we need some dedicated physical servers to install this, like master and media servers. It's not very simple, but it's not very complex. I found it in-between.
We provide full deployment services, managed services, support, and maintenance.
NetBackup is expensive. They need to work on the pricing side. I find it comparatively on the higher side when I compare the terabyte backup costs.
Veritas NetBackup is suitable for medium to large enterprises. Backup Exec, a lighter version of NetBackup, is better suited for small businesses which are Windows-based or Linux-based,
On a scale from one to ten, I would give Veritas NetBackup a seven.
