Customizable with helpful support and simple management capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "The general UI shows progress and data analytics for all projects in progress."
  • "All the features have the potential capabilities to perform their unique tasks, and we have been happy since we secured this software."
  • "Some updates are outdated, and their functionalities can affect the end outcomes."
  • "Some updates are outdated, and their functionalities can affect the end outcomes."

What is our primary use case?

Asana has the most effective project and task management tools from my experience.

It tracks every workflow to ensure there is a smooth implementation process.

It gives my team the work plan at a suitable cost and time for managing various set projects.

In addition, it allows my team to share documents with my colleagues and record video clips on any ongoing project. Asana has established the best working criteria that identify critical projects and tasks and give them first priority.

Collaboration and joint project implementation enable each party to access the full documentation and provide unbiased opinions.

How has it helped my organization?

Project managers can easily manage projects from a unified system at reduced costs and time-saving. The general UI shows progress and data analytics for all projects in progress. It also displays task lists, and calendar views with the aim of simplifying the job of monitoring and assessment team.

The platform has an automated database that saves customers' data with a tag of the assigned project to enhance faster follow-up. The addition of other related backup tools like screenshots and documents is easy.

The Asana team is very innovative, and their updates have matched most of the work done on daily basis.

What is most valuable?

The subtasks section enables employees in the organization to break and classify tasks for faster implementation and access.

We were able to customize the application interface and set the drop-down menu to accommodate tasks and projects.

Date and time tools ensure that tasks are completed on the set period before deadlines. All the features have the potential capabilities to perform their unique tasks, and we have been happy since we secured this software. The proofreading system ensures that we submit projects that are free from errors and rich in planned text.

What needs improvement?

Some updates are outdated, and their functionalities can affect the end outcomes. When a task is deleted before submission, it is not easier to locate it. The software just requires regular updates, and everything will be okay. I did not experience many performance challenges as we are able to implement projects and submit them to our clients on time.

It is simple and more flexible to work with it from anywhere and achieve the set targets. I appreciate the vendor team for coming up with the basic solutions for handling any given task and project using Asana.

Easy to use and set up but you need to have an action plan in order to really get its full benefits
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution appears to be quite stable."
  • "You need to have an action plan, otherwise, it won't be as effective."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the product for managing our partner plans and partner deals.

What is most valuable?

The ease at which to create new projects is great. That's the main reason we use it.

It's a very straightforward setup.

The solution appears to be quite stable.

They offer a free version that we are able to use without cost.

What needs improvement?

Nothing is missing in terms of features at the moment.

You need to have a plan going in or it might be hard to use. You need to have an action plan, otherwise, it won't be as effective.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My impression is that the solution is stable. We haven't had problems with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We only deployed it to six people. In terms of its full scalability potential, I'm unsure. We've never really tried to expand it.

All of our users are in sales and marketing.

At this point in time, we have no plans for expanding usage.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't used technical support. I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive they are.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Excel previously. We needed something that was easier for everybody to access and therefore we moved over to this.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward and simple. It's not a complex process.

Each project takes one to two hours to set up.

It's cloud-based. Once in a while, we'll have a new project and we'll go through the setup process for it. Being cloud-based also means there's no maintenance required. It's all very easy.

What about the implementation team?

We handle everything ourselves. We do not need the assistance of outside help.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We use the free version of the solution at this time. We do not need to pay for it.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a customer and an end-user.

We are using the latest version of the solution.

I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. We're pretty happy with it overall.

I'd advise those considering Asana to go in with a plan. If you have a plan, it makes it easier to implement it. Don't just try and create it. Have a plan of what you want to organize, and it makes it very simple. As long as you've got a plan, it's an easy product to use.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Easy to use and setup with great stability
Pros and Cons
  • "It's an easy way to communicate."
  • "It's a very useful tool because it's very easy to follow a path and its progress."
  • "There just needs to be a bit more direction on how to use it at the outset."
  • "There just needs to be a bit more direction on how to use it at the outset."

What is our primary use case?

I'm using it for communication with the company that we are reselling for. I'm not the owner of the products. Most of the questions that they're getting from our sales department they have to ask the vendor, so it's a nice way to communicate. It's a very good tool, very nice tool for delivering communications with the company.

What is most valuable?

It's a very useful tool because it's very easy to follow a path and its progress.

It's easy to open and close cases, and get answers. You can put a time limitation when the task must be done or when another person has to respond.

It's perfect because it's online and all the communications I see on most platforms, so it's very nice.

It's an easy way to communicate.

The solution offers fun easter eggs as you work through it.

The product remembers previously asked questions and can direct you back to them.

The solution overall is very easy to use.

It's better than email because email due to the fact that sometimes you can lose some email. This way everything is much more accessible and searchable.

What needs improvement?

You have to understand some basic functions on how to do tasks. For example, I didn't use any help file or helping tool to try to understand better what it could do. It took me, let's say a few trials to find how out how to import somebody on the Cloud. There just needs to be a bit more direction on how to use it at the outset.

For how long have I used the solution?

A few weeks ago I started to use the Asana project management tool.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite a stable product. I haven't faced any issues so far. That said, it's new and I haven't explored everything.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

While I assume that the solution can scale well, I am only using it for limited purposes and therefore have never tested its capabilities.

We do plan to continue to use it so long as the company we are working with is using it.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've never had to reach out to technical support. If we have technical issues, we can just ask our company's IT department.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't previously use a different solution. This is the first product of this nature. What we used that was similar was previously provided by Office 365.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is not complex. It's pretty straightforward. You can also install it on multiple devices. I installed it on my mobile device, and so I'm getting notifications also on the mobile device but mainly I'm using this where we have the Explorer, the web browser.

The installation did not require too many questions. Sometimes though, the system, for the application to sync with the web, takes a moment. However, it's minimal. The installation process was a matter of moments.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have a free Asana license that covers my work. We don't have any costs associated with it.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is actually something that was recommended by one of our partners. I don't see many of these kinds of OEM products.

I'm using the web application. I'm assuming that it is the latest version.

I didn't upgrade it to the business as I didn't buy the business license.

I would recommend the solution. I'd rate it ten out of ten. I've never used anything quite like it.

  • "By using this software, I have adaptability in my work, and it can improve the production of our company."
  • "Asana is an incredible help as it gives me the option to customize and compose each of my companies, and it lets me do it most efficiently."

  • "The inbox feature can be a little overwhelming if you are working with Asana just from its project boards and only checking it periodically."

What is our primary use case?

Asana offers better communication within groups. I can create tasks and sub-tasks. Asana also gives me the option to delegate the tasks to my team, and it has helped us increase the productivity of our teams. My teams will get a notification on who is taking care of the tasks, and I can keep track of the tasks that are already finished. A level of urgency can be placed on each task so that my team can work faster, and they can work efficiently.

How has it helped my organization?

Asana is an incredible help as it gives me the option to customize and compose each of my companies, and it lets me do it most efficiently. I immediately see amazing results in my tasks since the product’s framework has allowed combination and correspondence. This software can generate more efficient teamwork in my team.

What is most valuable?

This product is versatile for an organization. It has elements that can be useful for my team and me, as it has capabilities that will suit our needs.

By using this software, I have adaptability in my work, and it can improve the production of our company.

The software also promotes a healthy back office management system that will benefit everyone in the company.

Marking projects/events complete as they happen is valuable. The fun animation makes every completed task feel like a win, and it makes using the tool more fun. Very helpful when doing something that is normally tedious.

With regard to project management, the ability for us to track our projects all in one place is very helpful. Transparency makes it easy for everyone to be on the same page.

What needs improvement?

  • The inbox feature can be a little overwhelming if you are working with Asana just from its project boards and only checking it periodically. It would be great if it auto-cleared once a project/task is marked complete.
  • Email notifications can get excessive. You have complete control over them but initially, they can be annoying until you set the frequency you want them. It would be better if this was set during the sign-up process.
  • Notes, discussions, and attachments in subtasks sometimes go unnoticed if working from the main project board.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Asana for more than one year.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use another solution prior to this one.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Asana is quite simple.

What about the implementation team?

We deployed using our internal team.

What was our ROI?

  • More work gets done by keeping everyone on task and giving management visibility on progress.
  • Asana makes it simple to get people organized and on task for projects.
  • Fewer meetings are required using Asana saving both time and money for the company.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of this solution makes it quite accessible, and the plans fit my budget.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

No other options were evaluated before choosing Asana.

What other advice do I have?

If you are working with a cross-functional team with multiple projects on the go regularly, Asana is a lifesaver. Everything can be shared in one place. Delegation is a breeze. Communication happens in real-time.

This product is well suited for teams where different folks are collaborating on assignments and there needs to be a clear outline as to who is working on what. It helps set very transparent expectations for progress and follow up. It may not be necessary for non-collaborative environments.

Review about Asana
Pros and Cons
  • "The structure of organizing tasks is ideal for me."
  • "The structure of organizing tasks is ideal for me and it's far more intuitive than other project management tools I've used, like Basecamp."

    Valuable Features:

The structure of organizing tasks is ideal for me.  I've used a variety of project management tools like Basecamp and they aren't nearly as intuitive.

    Improvements to My Organization:

One page of glass for the entire marketing team to get all the information they need, even if they didn't attend any of the meetings.  Great for historical archiving as well as new tasks.

    Room for Improvement:

I haven't reached the point where I've maximized the functionality or was looking for something that wasn't there. I recently started using the API with Slack, but haven't seen any issues so far.
