A scalable tool useful to hold conferences and video meetings
I use Cisco Meeting Server for conferences and video meetings, which are crucial for my company The share screen option available during conferences is one of the best features of Cisco Meeting Server. In Cisco Meeting Server, GUI is an area of concern where improvements are required. In the…

Remote access has cut critical issue resolution time and supports faster production troubleshooting
Perhaps on the UI side of TeamViewer because we are connecting to different remote desktop connections or remote server connections. Whenever we are working on one of the production issues and we open multiple connections, it is very hectic or confusing to jump from one server to another server. Perhaps on the UI side, if they can improve something related to the view sessions or which session is connected to which remote server, that would be helpful. Perhaps something related to the authentication because it should have a proper authentication mechanism. Every developer should not access TeamViewer or the remote desktop by using TeamViewer. We always have a proper authentication or multifactor authentication mechanism in place, so only those on on-call support or P1 support at that time can access the remote server, but not anyone else. I chose nine out of 10 because sometimes we face the session timeout issue. Suppose during the production support, we connect to one of the remote servers, and if it is idle for approximately 10 or 15 minutes, the session timeout happens. We have to follow the same authentication mechanism to connect to the remote server again. During the session timeout, it delays our process or the troubleshooting steps, which is the reason I have given nine out of 10 instead of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In summary, this is a good product that is very easy to use, and I recommend it."
"Cisco Meeting Server is an easy and less complex solution."
"The UI is user-friendly and very good overall."
"Cisco Meeting Server has the best technical support, so I'd rate support a five out of five."
"You can use the Cisco Meeting Server to set up conference calls and virtual meetings."
"You can use the Cisco Meeting Server to set up conference calls and virtual meetings. Those are the two primary functions of Meeting Server. Most people in the company are using Microsoft Teams, so we only use Meeting Server when we have an internal meeting for all staff."
"The share screen option available during conferences is one of the best features of Cisco Meeting Server."
"What I like most about Cisco Meeting Server is its quick management. The solution also has a straightforward configuration."
"TeamViewer Business is one of the best tools that we use in my organization for support, especially when our customers troubleshoot."
"The technical support team assists with TeamViewer and performs repairs and installations remotely."
"The most important feature of TeamViewer is its ease of use."
"The solution is a very good tool for monitoring and for remote access, and anyone is able to use it because it is simple to use."
"TeamViewer Business has positively impacted our organization by reducing the time of the TAT for resolving issues for end users, which has really helped us."
"TeamViewer has a good interface."
"We've been very happy with the solution over a number of years."
"Ultimately, however, even with all of its warts and problems, it's still the best, most reliable and most affordable remote control product, at least for our environment."

Cons

"A few features are missing on the Meetings app, like a recording function. My understanding is that you need to buy a separate recording solution. It's modular, so you have to enable some functions if you want to use them. For example, we had to enable the Mood function. Recording is the primary feature we'd like to see in the app."
"What would make Cisco Meeting Server better is integrating it with Zoom and Teams so that you can connect or make a call through any of the two third-party solutions."
"This is a difficult solution to install and it should be made easier."
"In Cisco Meeting Server, GUI is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"A few features are missing on the Meetings app, like a recording function."
"Cisco Meeting Server should include a feature to control another user's screen during a remote session."
"It needs to have proper authentication. I would like to see in-depth integration with Google and Microsoft products, for example. It would be nice to have a cell phone version as well."
"Full integration of computer's user account system. Be able to login using the local computer's credentials rather than setting up a unique Teamviewer account/password."
"The product could be less expensive."
"It does what I need it to do but I think it's expensive."
"Unfortunately, the software is hit or miss when it comes to iOS devices, especially Macs."
"We have a consultant that helps us do the virtual aspects of TeamViewer."
"TeamViewer could improve by adding support for other operating systems, such as Linux and CAKE."
"I think the pricing could have been improved, as smaller organizations like us usually need a low-cost tool."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing fees are billed yearly."
"Cisco Meeting Server has reasonable licensing costs."
"Price-wise, Cisco Meeting Server is a product that falls in a mid-range category."
"The price was cheaper than what we were previously paying. At the time that we went with TeamViewer, we were using ShareConnect. The TeamViewer package was about half the cost and able to have a bigger number of users."
"We have an annual subscription that is just under $1,900 with no additional costs. We get these promotions about upgrades and stuff like that, but we haven't had a need to add more seats. Users can also use TeamViewer for home use with a non-commercial free license."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable."
"TeamViewer has multiple licensing options."
"There is no license needed to use TeamViewer."
"We're using the free version. We do not pay any licensing fees."
"TeamViewer was willing to give us a one-year package. Whereas, a lot of the other companies that we explored were paid by the month or quarter. It's just easier for our finance people at the college if we can make a one-time yearly payment."
"TeamViewer offers a free version to try. Download and give it a shot. See what it's like and if you like it, then buy the license for it."
