If customers want to change the color or the logo, they have to go through every page to verify everything is right. We have a strategic approach for the customer. I was involved in almost 100 sessions where the customers were looking for a one-time process visualization or one-time process mining, not for a long-term association with this tool. The customer's requirements are more tactical than strategic. We had some challenges during this time frame as I was with iGrafx, and electricity costs rose in Germany. One customer stopped a large deal because they had to reduce every non-invested investment due to the electricity bill rising by 500% to 800%.

Innovation in diagramming has streamlined complex UML tasks
Visual Paradigm allowed me to create UML diagrams efficiently. The tool was smarter than other tools in terms of remembering the connections between components on the screen. For example, in other drawing programs, if I moved a box, I had to move the arrow, but Visual Paradigm handled those tasks automatically. This made it much quicker than using other tools like Visio or MagicDoor.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is very easy to use for describing processes and is very useful in the simulation of the process putting parameters and the metrics process."
"One of the biggest plus points of the product stems from the fact that I have never seen any glitches in it."
"Simulation is most valuable."
"The solution's most beneficial feature is the 360 approach, where documentation, process mining, simulation, and automation capabilities are in one solution."
"It is one of the top-tier solutions that are available."
"It's a great product, but all the functionalities need to be exploited in order to get the full value of the investment."
"Finding the right symbol and creating links, horizontal and vertical are the features I use."
"Another good feature is that the numbering of the shapes in iGrafx is much easier and more convenient, in comparison to what is found in Visio. So far I haven't found anything similar to what I have with iGrafx, in that regard."
"As integration goes, the Suite works wonders when you bounce from coding to document redaction (producing the sets needed of UML), because you just need to translate from one to another, given your programs of coding allows it, like Eclipse ( /products/eclipse-luna ) does."
"Visual Paradigm is the best product I've used."
"The initial setup is extremely straightforward."
"Using the Component Diagram, Visual Paradigm helps with design and control, reusing components."
"I love Visual Paradigm because it has many different types of diagrams, and for any field of engineering, we can find a diagram."
"Visual Paradigm allowed me to create UML diagrams efficiently."
"The pricing model is attractive."
"Visual Paradigm is great due to the fact that there are lots of templates in their product."

Cons

"I would love to see a template and shapes for customer journey mapping."
"I would like to see a lower price, although when used correctly, you can have a good return on your investment."
"It would be nice to have a Spanish user interface available to us."
"One of the areas in the product with certain shortcomings where improvements are required includes the tool's reporting capabilities."
"They can reduce the cost of the product and make it easily accessible for consultants."
"Dragging and dropping shapes is not as user-friendly as in Visio. In Visio, it's very easy to work with shapes and in very few minutes you can plot a whole, multi swim-lane, cross-functional process."
"Visio is more user-friendly."
"The price could be more competitive."
"The product can always get better as the industry changes."
"The solution can improve by updating the user interface, and graphics."
"There is room for improvement in the licensing model. I would suggest implementing country-specific pricing, as many other products in India do. This would make Visual Paradigm more affordable and accessible."
"When you move projects from Visual Paradigm into Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect via XMI files, you lose all your notes from the elements, so this is an area for improvement in Visual Paradigm."
"The other thing that needs improvement is pricing."
"The speed of redrawing elements and links in complex models - when you need to move part or all of the diagram across the diagram, the tool has a slow response when redrawing objects."
"The solution's technical support can be improved and accessible for our company location since Visual Paradigm follows a remote support model with some challenges."
"There is a certain inherent complexity when creating UML diagrams."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"My company is trying to replace iGrafx because the license is a little bit expensive."
"Our license is a subscription-based model that is per user. The solution is not expensive, I believe a subscription-based model is $10 per user."
"Earlier, the licensing part was complex because there were so many modules and elements in the tool. Over the last one and a half years, a lot of work has gone into how the product has priced and positioned its tools in the market."
"I have heard that the solution's pricing is very competitive."
"The licensing part is one of the problems. Its licensing depends on the number of users, so it sometimes gets expensive."
"You can use Paradigm on a subscription basis and you can choose from different tiers of subscription."
"This is an open-sourced solution, it is free to use."
"I rate Visual Paradigm's pricing a five out of ten."
"Visual Paradigm costs $99 per license. I chose the cheapest option from the pricing list."
"Over the years I've seen an increase in price, and it makes it difficult for a single person company, like me, to decide whether to extend the license."
"Visual Paradigm's pricing is not expensive."
"I rate the pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"Pricing for Visual Paradigm is a four out of five for me. I'm happy with its pricing."
