We had the enterprise version of GoAnywhere MFT. We had the business-to-business and in-house versions. We were sending and receiving files from vendors, which were banks, Nike, and all sorts of different purveyors, and then also from server to server within our own business. We were using it quite extensively. I think we were averaging maybe 500 transmissions a day.

What I appreciated the most about GoAnywhere MFT is that it was very user-friendly. It was also very reasonably priced compared to other MFT applications. If I bring up BMC's MFT option, it was three times the price and it had pretty much the same functionality.

At the time when we first got it, it was one of the first MFT applications that had secured transmissions. That was one of the things that our security department was very adamant about, getting a hold of all the ad hoc FTPs that were flying around and securing them all, finding out what's going on, where the data is, what the data is, and locking it all down. That's why we went to it.

The main area for improvement would be including better support. Support was horrible. When we needed help off-shift, at 2:00 in the morning, it was an hourly rate of $200, $175 an hour, and we waited an hour, hour and a half to get somebody on support. It was ridiculous. I'm accustomed to calling a support desk and getting immediate help. Every other application I've ever worked on was that way. GoAnywhere MFT, Fortra, their first-level support was just miserable.

Another improvement would be their pricing models. We went cheap at Foot Locker and didn't include the reporting options, and we should have because the reporting was really fantastic. They should roll it all in, make one price model, include the reporting, and that will make all customers happy.

I have been using GoAnywhere MFT in my career for approximately 12 years.

We experienced a couple of issues with GoAnywhere MFT, but they were due to our own actions. One time we ran out of space on the server and it locked up because it couldn't write to its log files anymore. Another incident occurred when a developer had written a project using a resource that had an expired PGP key, which caused a cascading effect on authentication. That one was difficult to diagnose, but we figured it out with help from support by analyzing the logs. The stability of the application itself is excellent. We left it on an AIX machine that hadn't been rebooted in three years, which testifies to how the application ran.

We never really had to do any scaling with GoAnywhere MFT. We built it to fit our environment and planned for the future, and it was working effectively. We didn't have to add any other MFT servers. We had one MFT and one gateway, which was sufficient.

First-level support for GoAnywhere MFT would rate about a seven for skill level. Second-level support, after waiting a day and working with the first-level person, would rate about a nine or ten. They were fantastic people to work with and remained engaged throughout the process. We were in contact for sometimes weeks afterward. They were really good at committing long-term to a solution. However, the first-level support was disappointing, especially considering the hourly rate of $175 for someone not fully versed in the application.

We previously used homegrown ad hoc solutions, such as the built-in FTP that was part of z/OS from IBM, and FTP options for Linux and AIX. GoAnywhere MFT was the first enterprise-wide MFT solution that we brought in-house. We did evaluate BMC's MFT option, but it was essentially the same functionality at twice the price.

The installation and upgrading process was not easy. Having someone from GoAnywhere MFT assist us might have improved the process.

When I retired, I had everything in place and turned it over to a contractor from Fortra who was supposedly an expert in GoAnywhere MFT, but they still haven't completed the implementation.

We considered BMC's MFT option, which was three times the price with pretty much the same functionality. Since we used Control-M for our enterprise scheduling application, we considered using the MFT option but ultimately canceled that idea due to the cost differential.

One of the reasons I retired was because of GoAnywhere MFT. The software itself was fine. Nearly every day, I was chasing down certificate owners and determining who was responsible for them. Nine times out of ten, they were no longer with the company, and the remaining staff didn't know anything about it or what to do. I spent approximately 90% of my time chasing down certificates and getting them updated. If the certificates could be removed, I would give it a nine. GoAnywhere MFT didn't provide any sort of guidance on certificate management. They simply provided what needed to be done and left the implementation to us, which was a significant oversight on their part as certificate management became a nightmare.

The overall rating for GoAnywhere MFT would be a seven, primarily due to the never-ending nightmare of certificates.

On-premises

My main use case for GoAnywhere MFT is secure file transfers, workflow automation, and scheduled data exchanges between internal systems and external vendors.

A specific example of how I use GoAnywhere MFT for secure file transfers and automations between our internal systems and external vendors is that we automatically transfer encrypted financial and reporting files between our internal servers and external partners on scheduling workflows with alerts for failed or delayed transfers.

What stands out about my main use case with GoAnywhere MFT is how much manual effort it removes by centralizing transfers, scheduling, encryption, and monitoring in a single platform.

The best features GoAnywhere MFT offers for me are workflow automation, secure file transfer protocols, centralized monitoring, detailed audit logging, and the ability to automate complex multi-step file transfer processes without relying on custom scripts.

The centralized monitoring and audit logging features help me significantly because we can track all of our file transfers, failures, and user activities from one dashboard, which makes troubleshooting and compliance reporting much easier.

The automation builder is also valuable because it reduces the need for custom scripting and makes recurring transfer workflows much easier to manage.

GoAnywhere MFT has positively impacted my organization by improving transfer reliability, reducing manual file handling, and helping standardize secure data exchange processes across different teams and external partners.

To improve GoAnywhere MFT, the UI could be more modern and some advanced workflow configurations and troubleshooting steps could be made easier for administrators.

Better API integrations and more detailed troubleshooting documentation would definitely help, especially when integrating with newer cloud platforms and third-party systems.

I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for about three years.

GoAnywhere MFT is very stable.

GoAnywhere MFT scales very well for enterprise environments, especially when handling high volumes of automated file transfer across hybrid and multi-system environments. The clustering and load balancing capabilities help significantly as transfer volumes grow. Although large deployments may still require some performance tuning and infrastructure planning.

Scalability is good overall, but performance tuning and monitoring could be streamlined more effectively in very large environments with high transfer volumes.

Customer support is excellent and very helpful.

We previously relied on custom scripts and basic FTP/SFTP tools, but we switched to GoAnywhere MFT for better automation, centralized management, auditing, and more secure file transfer workflows.

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for GoAnywhere MFT shows that the pricing and licensing are definitely more enterprise-oriented, but the automation, security features, and centralized management justify the cost in environments with significant file transfer activity. Initial setup took some planning, but once deployed it is stable and manageable.

We have seen a return on investment mainly through the automation that reduces manual interventions. Tasks that previously required constant monitoring are now mostly unattended, which saves several hours each week for operations teams. We have also seen fewer transfer-related issues because everything is centralized and easy to track.

Before choosing GoAnywhere MFT, we evaluated a few other MFT solutions including Progress MOVEit, Globalscape EFT, IBM Sterling, and Axway before selecting GoAnywhere MFT.

The advice I would give to others looking into GoAnywhere MFT is to take time to properly design your workflow, security policies, and integration early on because GoAnywhere MFT delivers the most value when automation and monitoring are well-planned from the start.

Overall, GoAnywhere MFT has been a reliable and efficient platform for securing file transfer automation, especially in environments where visibility, compliance, and workflow reliability are important. I would rate this product a nine out of ten.

I have used GoAnywhere MFT for secure file transfer automation. The primary use for this product is scheduling automated file transfers, managing SFTP and FTPS connections, and creating workflows for system-to-system file movement, as well as secure data exchange between internal and external systems.

The most impressive feature of GoAnywhere MFT is the strong security options. It supports encryption, secure protocols, auditing, and key management. Additionally, the centralized administration is excellent, with everything managed from one dashboard. The product is also stable for large file transfers. These are the best features I have experienced over six months.

GoAnywhere MFT agent is useful for automating tasks on remote servers without exposing them publicly. This is the main agent use I am utilizing in GoAnywhere MFT.

Secure Forms features in GoAnywhere MFT allow safe data collection directly from users with automatic routing and encryption. This is the Secure Forms feature I am currently using in my project.

GoFast noticeably improves transfer speed for large files in GoAnywhere MFT by accelerating file transfers in distributed environments.

GoAnywhere MFT supports connectors for multiple systems, including SAP, database, cloud storage, and REST APIs. I am specifically using the SAP integration through SAP connectors and APIs.

One of the main important improvements I need for GoAnywhere MFT is a better real-time monitoring dashboard and an improved user interface. I think a more modern and user-friendly interface would be beneficial, as multiple competing products have modern and user-friendly interfaces. Additionally, better debugging tools and clearer error logs would be helpful.

When I started using GoAnywhere MFT, I experienced complexities for projects that required experience to create them. The error logs can be hard to understand at first sight. However, with continued use of this product, I became more familiar and comfortable with it.

I believe GoAnywhere MFT could be more stable and enterprise-friendly overall. It is a strong and reliable solution for secure file transfers and workflow automation, offering excellent security features and dependable performance. The main areas of improvement are the user interface and debugging simplicity.

I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for more than six months.

GoAnywhere MFT supports active-active clustering, meaning more than one MFT instance can run in parallel. For load balancing, it can be more scalable for companies distributed across their cluster nodes, improving throughput. If one node fails, the system remains scalable. GoAnywhere MFT can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud such as AWS or Azure, or in any hybrid model. This flexibility makes it suitable for both large-scale and small-scale companies depending on the requirements of the company.

The price range for GoAnywhere MFT is around four to five thousand dollars annually. Since it is a large-scale product, the price can be adjustable within this range.

I have used IBM Sterling as an alternative to GoAnywhere MFT. GoAnywhere MFT is easier and more stable than IBM Sterling, and it is also more enterprise-friendly. It is less expensive than Cleo but has fewer advanced APIs. Overall, it offers better automation than many basic SFTP servers and provides a good balance of security, automation, and integration at an enterprise level.

I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

My use cases for GoAnywhere MFT are automating and securing file transfer workflows.

What I appreciate most about GoAnywhere MFT is the SFTP file transfer capability, which is a secure file transfer protocol. It also includes a file encryption module, scheduling, and email notification features, which are very useful. GoAnywhere MFT does not require any maintenance on my end; it is all being taken care of by the developers.

One area where they could improve GoAnywhere MFT is the UI, as it feels outdated.

I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for about six to twelve months.

I have not seen any instability or issues with stability in GoAnywhere MFT, but I mentioned that the UI feels outdated.

I have contacted their customer support, but they are quite busy and reply in approximately three to four days. The quality of their support for GoAnywhere MFT was not as they mentioned on their website; it was supposed to be 24/7, but they are taking two to three days to reply to my emails. I messaged them three to four times, but they are consistently late in responding.

When they did answer, the quality of their responses was good, but the response time was not satisfactory. They advertise 24/7 support and response within 24 hours, but they are taking at least two days to reply.

I switched from Salesforce Workflow to GoAnywhere MFT.

When I first started using GoAnywhere MFT, it was very easy. I watched a video tutorial on YouTube and it took me approximately 23 minutes to fully understand how to use GoAnywhere MFT. After that, I did not need any additional explanation.

We are not using the included connectors in GoAnywhere MFT right now; I mentioned that we were using them before, but I am not using them currently. I do use the Agents in GoAnywhere MFT. The review which I wrote on G2 about this was based on my usage of this software approximately three to four months prior, but I am not using it currently.

I have never used features in GoAnywhere MFT such as Secure Forms, GoFast, or Agents; I only use the SFTP transfer protocol. Leaving the support aside, I would rate GoAnywhere MFT 7 out of 10. If I were to rate only the support, I would give them a 5 out of 10.

The main use case for GoAnywhere MFT is to automate file transfer between the internal application and external partners. This ensures that files are delivered correctly and in a secured manner on a given timeline, which reduces manual efforts in data transfer.

In real-time, day-to-day activities, daily reports are automatically generated and transferred to another system without requiring manual action. The automation has reduced manual handling of file transfer and ensures that tasks are done consistently, saving time and reducing errors.

The alert and monitoring features provide real-time visibility of whether any file is stuck or if any issues occur. The alerts help identify quickly when a file transfer fails or is delayed, allowing us to take immediate action and troubleshoot instead of checking logs manually.

The best features include centralized management capabilities, alert and monitoring features, and automated file transfer. These key features are helping our organization significantly.

GoAnywhere MFT has improved the reliability and security of file transfers. Manual errors have been reduced, and the activity has been very smooth.

It has improved operational views and reliability because file transfer is scheduled instead of being handled manually. Data transfer errors, such as wrong files or missed uploads, are handled effectively because transfers are predefined. There are no such issues, and we are getting good monitoring.

Currently, GoAnywhere MFT is a perfect solution, and no improvement is needed at this time, though the documentation part could be improved.

I have taken two points off because future improvements may be needed based on features.

We have seen a positive return on investment with GoAnywhere MFT. Manual effort has been reduced by around forty to fifty percent, and file transfer errors have decreased, making this solution time-saving and money-saving.

GoAnywhere MFT is a very reliable and powerful solution for secure and automated file transfer. It improves efficiency and reduces manual efforts, making it very suitable for organizations handling data, and I would recommend this solution as one of the best available. I gave this review a rating of eight.

On-premises

We primarily use GoAnywhere MFT to securely transfer our files and encrypt files and other data points that we have. We transfer it across cloud storage platforms, which is our main use case with this software.

We also build workflows which can be easily configured. There is a scheduler feature inside the GoAnywhere MFT platform which automatically helps us run these workflows and basically helps us get our reports securely on time through cloud.

The scheduler feature in GoAnywhere MFT is something that I appreciate very much because we primarily deal with large data sets.

Our file transfer that we do is quite large and we require a daily check-in and monitoring data that comes to our email. The scheduler automatically encrypts the data and sends it to the corresponding email IDs or the corresponding cloud platforms automatically without any manual intervention.

This saves a lot of time for us and ensures we get our data on time.

Feature-wise, I don't think there's any negative aspect about GoAnywhere MFT; it's very much packed, very good and ready to go.

One area where they can improve is that many training documents are missing. Initially, when I started using the software, I found it a little hard to navigate and understand. More help documents and knowledge-based documents could have been much more useful. That could be developed, but apart from that, feature-wise, everything is great.

I have been using it for about a year to 14 months.

I have not seen any instability with GoAnywhere MFT; in fact, it's very good.

There's no lagging or ping issues. The data we usually transfer consists of large files, and it's quite smooth and clean. There's no lag.

Being a cloud solution, GoAnywhere MFT is very much scalable.

Currently, we have three locations where we use this, and we might expand it to five or six locations. Because it's a cloud platform and a stable platform, it is scalable.

The support team for GoAnywhere MFT is very knowledgeable. Any query that I have, they are very patient with me and they try to give me the reason behind the issue and then solve it.

They're pretty quick and responsive. It's not a situation where you raise a ticket and wait for 48 hours to get a response; it's immediate. Their knowledge level is something that I appreciate with the team.

I have not used any alternatives to GoAnywhere MFT personally.

Learning how to fully use GoAnywhere MFT took time for me personally; it took around four to six weeks to understand and learn the entire process and product.

That was time-consuming. Ideally, it should have been completed in a week or two at maximum. With products such as this, time is an important crucial factor. That was the only issue.

I would recommend contacting the GoAnywhere MFT support team earlier to understand the platform more quickly. I spent six weeks learning the system, but if I had reached the support team earlier, I might have understood it in two or three weeks.

I would recommend everyone to use this kind of managed file transfer software, if not GoAnywhere MFT, then something else, so that data remains safe and encrypted, especially considering the prevalence of data theft.

I would encourage them to use GoAnywhere MFT.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate this solution an 8.5.

I chose nine out of ten because every solution needs to be improved based on future requirements, and as of now, it delivers excellent value in terms of automation, security, and reliability, which are critical for a managed file transfer solution.

I really recommend GoAnywhere MFT and my main advice for any organization considering this solution is to focus on automation and plan properly at the initial stage, as good planning is really needed to identify use cases, leverage full automation features, and design workflows. My overall review rating for GoAnywhere MFT is nine out of ten.

I use GoAnywhere MFT for files and transfer management.

The best feature of GoAnywhere MFT is that it's easy to use, and the drag-and-drop option is available. Instead of coding or hard coding, the drag-and-drop option is good. 

I use the SharePoint connector. The connector with SharePoint allowed me to share Excel and different files. 

The interface could be more customizable.

I have been using this solution for six to seven months.

GoAnywhere MFT is stable, and I would rate it a nine out of ten for stability.

The scalability of the solution is good.

More than 10,000 users utilize the solution.
