We are using this solution for workflow management, especially when using a Kanban board to monitor the small assignments. Also, some programming for some of the disciplines. It's still in its infant stages.
Computer engineering student at a educational organization with 501-1,000 employees
Covers the entire development lifecycle and the reporting is good
Pros and Cons
- "It's a complete solution that has everything you need."
- "I think that they have some menus there that are not very well placed."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
It's a complete solution that has everything you need.
It covers all of the development workflows to the initial planning, testing, coding, and even to launch the subsequent feedbacks.
Also, it has marketing reports.
It's very promising. They are very well positioned to take over some pretty heavy contestants in that area.
What needs improvement?
I think that they have some menus there that are not very well placed. For example, I was searching for some extensions in the marketplace and I couldn't find my way back to the console. It's not very well designed.
The general user interface is nice. It's intuitive, but I had the luck to discover something that is not very well designed. The fact that I can't return back to the console is very strange. I couldn't find my way back. I had to log off and log on again and get back to the console in a very awkward way.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for a few weeks.
We are using the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's a stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
As per the documentation that I have read, it's pretty scalable. My brother, who works with this solution practically every day, says it's scalable.
We plan to continue using this solution.
How are customer service and support?
I have not yet had any experience with technical support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Previously, I just used GitHub, so just Version Control for code and not much more.
I used also their integrated development environments including Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio. These solutions are built by Microsoft.
How was the initial setup?
It's straightforward. With the cloud solution, there is no installation.
I could create the main console for the project very quickly, with just a name and description and the rest is the default.
What other advice do I have?
This is a product that I can recommend to other users.
I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Private Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Microsoft Azure

Co Founder and Technical Architect at Think NYX Technologies LLP
Easy to onboard and use, with complete integration between pipelines and testing
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable feature is the complete integration between test cases, pipelines, and issue management."
- "The test management section needs to be improved."
What is our primary use case?
I am a consultant and this is one of the tools that I use to help develop solutions for my clients.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is the complete integration between test cases, pipelines, and issue management.
What needs improvement?
The test management section needs to be improved. It is easy to use but they can make changes such that it is more comfortable for the users.
I would like to see a full-quality dashboard added. For example, if I am not using their pipeline then I would still like to see the dashboard available.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Azure DevOps for more than two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have found it stable, so far.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This product is very scalable. I am currently using it for about 10 users and if I want to add more then I have to pay more money.
How are customer service and technical support?
I have not yet been in a position where I needed technical support for this product. In the past, I have dealt with Microsoft's technical support for other products and I have found them to be fine.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have also worked with similar tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, and then Jira.
Because I am a consultant, I work with multiple tools and the choice is that of my client.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I find that the pricing is good, and it is competitive with the other vendors in the market.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to anybody who is considering Azure DevOps is that it is quite easy to onboard. It is a good product if you really want to work in a close-knit environment.
I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Software Architect Consultant at a tech consulting company with self employed
Helpful for multi-platform release management, but more flexibility is needed for automated testing
Pros and Cons
- "All of the features related to release management are very good."
- "Better integration with the Linux operating system would be an improvement for this solution."
What is most valuable?
All of the features related to release management are very good. We use release management and dev management, and the dashboard is good. The ability to specify multiple platforms in release management, by using Docker, is valuable.
What needs improvement?
Better integration with the Linux operating system would be an improvement for this solution.
I would like to see more third-party plugins; by comparison, the open source solution, Jenkins, has thousands of plugins available.
The Wiki for this solution is not very good.
There is a problem when you want to run a release pipeline for an organization that needs enhanced security. There is no option to configure a dynamic login for a station that is running the tests. The only solution in the platform is to configure an agent that uses a fixed username and password login. There is no option to change the username or password for the login dynamically. If I want to run multiple tests, with different users, then I cannot do it. When it comes to running tests, it needs an option to use different users or authentications. This is a very important feature that is missing.
For how long have I used the solution?
More than five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This solution is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability is not particularly relevant. It depends on what kind of scaling you want to do. Generally, it has very good support for scaling.
There are hundreds of developers using this solution.
How are customer service and technical support?
We only had one issue, and I would rate their technical support at medium, based on that experience. The issue was related to shrinking a database, where it was not working well. It took a long time for Microsoft support to fix the problem.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We did not use another solution prior to this one. However, I use other tools in conjunction with Azure DevOps. One of these is Jenkins, for CICD, and I also use the Atlassian Suite.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup for the latest version was very straightforward. The upgrade was quick and lightweight.
What about the implementation team?
I handled the implementation on my own.
What other advice do I have?
This is a solution that I would recommend.
Azure DevOps is a leading platform, but some things can be better.
I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Devops Engineer at a manufacturing company with 10,001+ employees
Provides great agile management of projects, is stable with good customer support
Pros and Cons
- "Provides agile management of projects."
- "Reporting across multiple projects could be improved."
What is our primary use case?
We use it for planning, pipeline management and testing, as well as using it as a CI/CD tool.
What is most valuable?
I like the agile management of projects, running stand-ups and the like. The pipeline management feature is great.
What needs improvement?
We'd like to see an improvement in reporting across multiple projects. The same applies to improving program visibility so that project managers can get that pane of glass to assist with their work. It would be a big win for a lot of users as well as a good addition to the tool.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been using this solution for close to four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable. There are still the occasional issues but on average it's very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is easily scalable because it runs on the cloud and everything is managed by Microsoft. We don't do anything in terms of increasing capacity so when more users are added the increased capacity is automatically managed.
How are customer service and support?
We haven't made a lot of calls to technical support but when we have their response has been good and quick.
How was the initial setup?
We have a DevOps engineer who carried out the implementation for us and I believe it was relatively easy.
What other advice do I have?
I rate this solution eight out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Product Owner at ZettaLABS
Its configurable dashboard offers various display options for the stakeholders of the project
What is our primary use case?
Agile scrum project management of a software product in a start-up company. We are a team of 11 people located in different countries.
How has it helped my organization?
We have team members in different locations of the world. Azure DevOps is the main communication tool between the product owners, UX designers, and developers.
Its configurable dashboard offers various display options for the stakeholders of the project.
What is most valuable?
- Dashboard
- Query
- Sub-tasks configuration
- Extensions library
- Visual Studio and other MS product integrations.
What needs improvement?
- It would be better to have a free-text query editor.
- Product management/roadmap planning features are missing.
- Parent Column is added in listings and we expect to see it in queries as well
For how long have I used the solution?
Less than one year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Refreshing the browser is needed when a data is updated. I am expecting Microsoft to prepare an Azure DevOps application running on PC and downloaded from the MS app store.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is easy to use if you are already familiar with Microsoft products.

The solution is scalable enough for what we use it for, we have small teams of approximately 25 people. It's more than enough right now.
How are customer service and support?
We didn't have many incidents to contact the support about. However, they were decent.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I was previously using Jira.

What needs improvement?
They could have more reporting features added to the dashboard. There are certain features, and reporting that can only be used in PowerBI, but not directly in DevOps.
We would like to have the same calculated reports that can be accessed in PowerBI, available in Microsoft Azure DevOps.

A stable, all-in-one solution that is easy to deploy, but some areas need to be improved
Pros and Cons
- "I like the entire tool because it is a one-stop-solution for DevOps."
- "There are certain areas in Azure DevOps that are better in other products."
What is our primary use case?

I have been working with Azure DevOps for approximately four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is good and I haven't had any issues with it.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

How are customer service and technical support?
I have not needed to contact Microsoft's technical support.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward and easy. It takes very little time to deploy.
What about the implementation team?
