What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We're exploring various options to improve stability. Currently, it's a bit tricky, but we're working on making it more stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We're making every effort to enhance scalability according to our business requirements. My company has 5000 users for Microsoft Project.
How was the initial setup?
Our deployment process follows standard procedures, often dictated by project requirements. We allocate two personnel for installation and project requirements. Currently, we have nine to ten projects.
What other advice do I have?
We use Microsoft Teams for business communication and file sharing. We've also integrated Microsoft Teams with Grafana for on-call support and Jira. In our project work, we utilize Jira, while for resource management, we rely on Salesforce. I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.
Occasionally, we have encountered issues that would require us to restart the solution. I recommend getting familiar with the documentation and thoroughly testing the product. Additionally, it's essential to connect with different stakeholders to address any issues.
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

Easy to use and great for project planning and monitoring
Pros and Cons
- "If you work with Microsoft, it's very easy to work with this."
- "We'd like to have more resource allocation and monitoring features."
What is our primary use case?
We are doing e-commerce implementations and we organize the projects and Gantt charts for this task.
What is most valuable?
It's great for project planning and monitoring.
It's very easy to use. It's plug-and-play.
The solution is stable.
It can scale well.
The UI is great. If you work with Microsoft, it's very easy to work with this.
What needs improvement?
It can be hard to create things manually, however, once we have it up and running it's very easy.
We'd like to have more resource allocation and monitoring features. This should be part of MS Project.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been using the solution for almost a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is good. I'd rate it 8.5 to nine out of ten. It is reliable. There are no bugs or glitches.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable. We just give the order to the reseller and they activate more licenses.
We have 60 to 70 users. We do have plans to increase to 200 licenses.
How are customer service and support?
We have a reseller partner that offers technical support for any tickets logged.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is based on the business requirements. It's not too difficult.
The deployment takes four to six weeks.
We activated the license and then, to use MS Project, we have to create a whole project plan, and that requires manual data entry. Then, once we have that, everything moves quickly.
We do not need any technical people to maintain the product. It's very user-friendly and maintenance is very minimal.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
This is a cost-0effective project planner. I'm getting a product at $100 as opposed to Oracle, which would cost me thousands of dollars. I'd rate it nine out of ten.
We pay annually. You can also pay monthly if you would like.
There are no extra costs in addition to the standard licensing fees. You would have to pay if you were using other Microsoft products, like Microsoft Teams.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We did evaluate OIracle and found the price to be too high. The implementation timeline was also very long.
What other advice do I have?
We're using the cloud-based solution so were are always on the latest version.
This is a Microsoft product and therefore it is very user-friendly. We use a lot of Microsoft products and find it very simple to get used to the UI since we use so much Microsoft in general.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud

Time tracking and budget tracking are the most valuable features of the solution.

Since everything I need is already present in the solution, I don't require any additional features to be added to the solution.

How was the initial setup?
When using the solution on my personal computer, I just installed it and began to use it. And at my company, I just told our help desk to install the solution remotely on my office computer.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Pricing-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten since I feel it is a bit costly.

Beneficial reminder feature, efficient work flow, but should be more inclusive
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable feature of Microsoft Project is the reminder feature. This feature allows for the system to send notifications or reminders to individuals who have a task to complete once someone has finished their task. This has been especially useful in situations where multiple people are involved in a task. For example, if I have completed my task and the next person is just beginning, the system will send them a reminder to notify them of my completion. This feature has proven to be very beneficial and convenient for me in my tasks."
- "In a future update, the system should be more inclusive and open to everyone, not just limited to one organization. For example, there may be instances where we want to bring in a guest from outside our organization and integrate them into our project. It would be beneficial if the system was more accessible and easy to integrate with other projects. Additionally, it would be great if there was a way to receive notifications, regardless of whether they come from a Gmail domain or another domain, to keep us informed of any incoming tasks."
What is our primary use case?
Microsoft Project can be used for a variety of purposes, one of which is creating a Gantt diagram. This feature is particularly useful for projects that require establishing a timeline and determining the duration of each task. Additionally, Microsoft Project can be integrated with cloud solutions, such as Teams and Insight, making it a valuable tool for collaborative projects. By integrating with Teams, you can share tasks with team members and collaborate more efficiently. Integrating with Insight allows you to gather data and insights about your project, enabling you to make informed decisions and improve your project management process.

For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Microsoft Project for approximately a few months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
In my organization, the stability of the solution has been good.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Microsoft Project is good.
How are customer service and support?
I did not use the support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I used previously Microsoft Visio.
I used Microsoft Visio to build network architecture and especially for drawing a structure.
How was the initial setup?
In the setup of Microsoft Project, the process was a bit challenging initially. The main reason was that I was not sure where to start in a safe and secure manner. Microsoft frequently updates its software and resources, but it can be difficult to find the necessary documentation for a specific solution. It is crucial to have some prior experience with similar products to effectively locate the necessary information. For someone who is just starting out and does not have the proper training, guidance from an instructor, or hands-on experience, the setup process can be quite complex.
The implementation of the solution was swift and effortless. The amount of time it took to deploy would largely depend on the specificities of your project and what features are required or optional. From my personal experience, creating the project was simple and straightforward, and did not require a significant amount of time. The deployment process was smooth and efficient.
What was our ROI?
I have received a return on investment using the solution.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The license fees for the professional version, which is estimated to be approximately $1,600, and the standard version, which is approximately $1,200, may be considered expensive by some users. This is something that could be improved to make the platform more accessible to a wider audience.
You can purchase other solutions from Microsoft and receive this solution in the package, such as Visual Studio, it offers numerous benefits, including access to a variety of Microsoft solutions, including Project, Visio, Office 2021, and more. This makes it easier for me to access everything I need.
What other advice do I have?
I highly recommend the solution due to its ability to enhance organization and improve task management within projects. It is possible to stay informed and up-to-date with any delays or discrepancies in the work being done. The solution is immensely valuable. I wholeheartedly endorse this process.
I rate Microsoft Project a seven out of ten.

Fantastic integration with Teams and powerful, built-in dashboards
Pros and Cons
- "The built-in dashboards are powerful because they show both project and overall progress."
- "The solution could offer waterfall options for agile and sprint planning."
What is our primary use case?
Our company uses the solution to get realistic estimations to properly distribute resources. We have a huge portfolio and use the online premium version. One current project is with a client who has 150 users.
The solution estimates workflow for concurrent activities, links dependencies, and automatically modifies plans based on date updates. The plan is assessed based on different criteria such as the schedule or budget.
Built-in dashboards provide an overview of our portfolio, programs, and projects. There is a general work view and an overall progress view that combines all projects.
What is most valuable?
The integration between Teams and the solution is fantastic. Previously, the cloud version was not available so we kept standalone files on our PCs. Now, everything is in the cloud so we can ask Teams to update their activities in the plan which automatically reflects on everyone's plan. Team effectively cooperates with the plan without every user needing licenses for the solution.
The built-in dashboards are powerful because they show both project and overall progress.
What needs improvement?
The solution could offer waterfall options for agile and sprint planning. Agile is available but is still maturing. We want to clear project backlog and would like different views for sprints. It would be easier to choose the type of project at the beginning and have different layouts or mechanisms that are specific to it. Jira offers something completely different than the solution.
Popups for allocated resources would be helpful. Currently, allocated resources or activities are listed on the left side. Activities that are big or are being performed across 100 to 200 days should include tips, advice, and alerts as popups to keep us on track.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for fifteen years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is very stable so I rate stability a nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability is dependent on licenses. For that reason, I rate scalability a five out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
I have only contacted support a few times in my entire career. I was trying to receive a backup of previous plans because I lost the current plan.
Based on my experience, I rate support a seven out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
The setup is pretty easy and might take one week.
Resource education is sometimes complicated. The most difficult thing to do is control or assign resources and it is especially complex for very long projects. If you have many resources for the same activity or concurrent activities with overlapping resources, then fixing the allocations is very difficult. Some users avoid assigning resources because of this issue but resource assignment an important step.
I rate setup a seven out of ten.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution in-house. Ongoing management is handled by four team members.
What was our ROI?
Customers might not realize their ROI because they are immature in using the solution. They have the license so their users have to work with it. Most of the time, they just rely on the access sheet. They don't often realize how the solution could improve their work flow.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing is based on a licensing model and is reasonable. I rate pricing a nine out of ten.
What other advice do I have?
The solution is a very extensive software that has many features, capabilities, and functionalities. Training and knowledge are important because most users are not aware of even the most basic things. Awareness is important and will have an impact on long-term use.
I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The solution has a decent annual license subscription cost, which is not high.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend Microsoft Project to other users. As an end user, Microsoft Project provides many features like tracking the team task, checking whether the task has been completed on time or there is any delay, tracking each task, and resource allocation.

I rate the overall solution somewhere between eight and nine out of ten.

On-premises
