Effortless scalability, ease of navigation, but complex implementation
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable features of Oracle Cloud are the ease of navigation and stability. The solution is more feature-rich and powerful than these smaller alternatives."
- "The Oracle Cloud platform remains complex, and despite the abundance of resources available, significant challenges can still arise during the migration process from a legacy or on-premise system. Conversely, smaller companies with less complicated systems, such as those with a two million budget, can migrate more easily."
What is our primary use case?
We are hosting and migrating customers to the Oracle cloud, this is the service that we provide. We don't have our own cloud, we use Oracle in the backend.
Many individuals are shifting towards interconnected digital systems, and one significant advantage is Oracle's comprehensive cloud-integrated solution. A large number of people currently utilize Oracle's database, which allows for smoother integration into the cloud platform when migrating from an on-premise solution. Having certified resources is crucial since even if you have an excellent solution, it can be challenging to operate and maintain without qualified individuals. Unfortunately, there is a scarcity of certified resources for solutions, such as SAP, and Dynamics does not yet offer this feature, Oracle Cloud is ahead of the game in this regard.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features of Oracle Cloud are the ease of navigation and stability. The solution is more feature-rich and powerful than these smaller alternatives.
What needs improvement?
The Oracle Cloud platform remains complex, and despite the abundance of resources available, significant challenges can still arise during the migration process from a legacy or on-premise system. Conversely, smaller companies with less complicated systems, such as those with a two million budget, can migrate more easily.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Oracle Cloud for approximately one year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of Oracle Cloud is good. It is highly stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Oracle Cloud's system is exceptional and highly commendable when handling complex operations, such as running separate billing servers for cell phone companies. With the system, the data can be taken to the cloud and run seamlessly without any problems. Scaling up the system is effortless, particularly with the hyper-converged infrastructure, making the process very straightforward.
We have over 50 users using this solution.
How are customer service and support?
We have an internal support team of professionals and other third-party support if we run into issues.
How was the initial setup?
The migration process can be complicated, particularly for those moving from an outdated on-premise system to a newer online platform. It's unclear whether Oracle Cloud still employs outdated designs, but the migration process itself is not straightforward.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing for Oracle Cloud services is reasonable. Additionally, compared to other service providers, Oracle has a substantial presence and established infrastructure in Bangladesh. Considering all these factors together makes Oracle Cloud an ideal choice and a strong contender in the market.
I rate the price of Oracle Cloud a four out of ten.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We have evaluated other options, but for our niche use case, this solution is best suited for our needs.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Oracle Cloud a seven out of ten.

Cost effective, easy setup, and responsive agents
Pros and Cons
- "We have not had any downtime using the solution."
- "One improvement that would be helpful is the addition of a replication option on their Standard Edition OD service. Currently, this option is not available, which leads many customers to move to the Enterprise edition. However, other cloud service providers, such as Amazon AWS offer replication options at a similar tier. It would be beneficial if Oracle also explored providing this option for their Standard Edition service."
What is our primary use case?
OCI is primarily utilized by our company for our own internal solutions. However, we also offer it as a cloud service option to our customers as an alternative to traditional on-premises hosting. OCI is similar to other cloud service providers, such as Amazon AWS or Xero, and is mainly used for hosting solutions for our customers.
Our customers do not need to hire a whole data management team or buy new infrastructure. They can clean up what they need and then buy the services they need from OCI.
What is most valuable?
Overall the solution has good capabilities.
What needs improvement?
One improvement that would be helpful is the addition of a replication option on their Standard Edition OD service. Currently, this option is not available, which leads many customers to move to the Enterprise edition. However, other cloud service providers, such as Amazon AWS offer replication options at a similar tier. It would be beneficial if Oracle also explored providing this option for their Standard Edition service.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for approximately one and a half years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We have not had any downtime using the solution.
I rate the stability of OCI a ten out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
There are 10 people in my company using this solution and they use it approximately three times a month.
The OCI enterprise version is highly scalable. There is no limit to the scaling available.
I rated the scalability of OCI an eight out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
We have not contacted technical support, but we have account managers we talk to for sales and they're very responsive.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used Amazon AWS previously.
The main differences between OCI and other solutions in the same category are the price, which is lower, the selection of databases, and the services offered. When compared to Amazon AWS, which has a wider selection of databases and more services available, OCI hasn't reached the same level of power yet. Additionally, OCI typically only offers Intel or AMD processors, whereas other providers may offer other options like Graviton services.
Another advantage of OCI is its flexibility when it comes to sizing. With OCI, you can move from 1 to 4 vCPU, whereas with Amazon AWS, you need to double the size of the previous instance. Overall, OCI has a lower price, and more flexible sizing options, but offers fewer services than Amazon AWS.
How was the initial setup?
OCI is easy to set up. If you have prior experience with any other cloud provider, the setup process for OCI is easily transferable. Additionally, there are plenty of resources available to assist with configuring it.
I rate the initial setup of OCI an eight out of ten.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
OCI is the cost-effectiveness compared to other similar services, assuming all compliance regulations are met. Additionally, they offer a number of things free of charge, which is particularly beneficial for smaller clients.
They meet the standard and the price is low. They do have a few limitations, specifically with their Standard Oracle Databases, the Standard Edition.
I rate the price of OCI a nine out of ten.
What other advice do I have?
I rate OCI an eight out of ten.

Provides the flexibility to spin up instances and alter the capacity as needed, and does what it's advertised to do
Pros and Cons
- "The flexibility is most valuable. By having our infrastructure in the cloud, we are able to spin up instances as needed and alter the capacity as needed."

- "There should be more management automation."
What is our primary use case?
We migrated our in-house Oracle processing to the cloud. It's really just a database.
What is most valuable?
The flexibility is most valuable. By having our infrastructure in the cloud, we are able to spin up instances as needed and alter the capacity as needed.
It works well, and everything is working as we expect it.
What needs improvement?
There should be more management automation.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's very stable. There have been no outages in four years.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's great. I can spin up as much as I'd like. We have thousands of in-house users who are working on in-house applications.
It's being used very extensively, and we do not have great plans for increasing usage. It does what it does, and it works well, but there won't be much storage increase. We're not about to hire another 5,000 employees to use it.
How are customer service and support?
It's as good as any vendor. I would rate them a four out of five.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
It was pretty straightforward. The migration took about three months. Most of that time was used for testing.
What about the implementation team?
We used some consultants. Our experience with them was great. They knew what they were doing. We didn't.
For deployment and maintenance purposes, I have a team of five DBAs.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's less expensive to operate your environment in the cloud than in-house. It's a bundle cost. Everything is included in one price.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We were looking at Oracle and AWS a couple of years ago, but we moved to the Oracle Cloud because we couldn't get our in-house solution to work with AWS. We looked at migrating to a different relational database platform, but the costs were just going to be too high, and the support was not going to be there.
What other advice do I have?
Cloud is the way to go. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. It does what it's advertised to do.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
