What do I think about the stability of the solution?

ThousandEyes is a very stable solution.

I rate the solution’s stability ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our customers for ThousandEyes are mostly medium-sized and enterprise businesses from the manufacturing and finance sectors.

I rate the solution’s scalability ten out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The solution provides good technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The solution’s initial setup is quite easy. The solution can be deployed in a few hours. It's easy to set up, and the integration is good as well.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution’s initial setup an eight out of ten.

What was our ROI?

It takes around two to three years to see a return on investment with ThousandEyes. The solution provides quite good value.

I rate its return on investment a seven or eight out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution costs several thousand dollars per year.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution’s pricing a seven out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

The solution saves time and is proactive in handling situations. The solution is deployed on on-prem devices, but it monitors cloud services. Users should first consider what services should be monitored and which devices need to be included. Once that is decided, further planning will be easier.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Efficient network monitoring with cloud insights and near real-time performance
Pros and Cons
  • "From our perspective, ThousandEyes stands out as an invaluable tool because of its deep and extensive capabilities."
  • "It might be practical to extend monitoring capabilities to include network devices"

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use it for monitoring our corporate network, our internet service providers, and our staff's connectivity. Also, we use it to keep an eye on the performance of multiple cloud providers, each serving various functions within our organization.

What is most valuable?

Since our primary focus lies in obtaining comprehensive monitoring data from our cloud providers and internet service providers (ISPs), these ISPs are of paramount importance as they directly impact the end customer experience. From our perspective, ThousandEyes stands out as an invaluable tool because of its deep and extensive capabilities. It enables us to monitor a wide array of cloud providers and numerous ISPs, which sets it apart from other monitoring tools in terms of its breadth and depth.

What needs improvement?

It might be practical to extend monitoring capabilities to include network devices. Currently, the system relies on agents that integrate traffic and measure it between the locally installed agents and those in the cloud providers or ISPs. There is a notable limitation in the inability to monitor network devices directly. This could be addressed by incorporating SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). It would also be advantageous if ThousandEyes could seamlessly integrate with other dashboard solutions, particularly with tools like Grafana. This integration would enhance the overall monitoring and visualization capabilities of the system.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with it for the last nine months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Based on the feedback from our end customers, it appears that they didn't have any concerns or drawbacks related to stability. In fact, they find the stability to be quite satisfactory. I would rate it eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This tool operates as a SaaS solution, meaning it is hosted in the cloud and readily accessible at all times. Our clients are primarily large enterprises with a workforce of over five thousand individuals and it scales up to meet all of their needs easily. I would rate its scalability features ten out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I conducted a test of the support services during the deployment phase but haven't had the opportunity to evaluate their performance during the actual production phase when the system is operational. So, I can only provide feedback on the support experience during deployment, not ongoing production use. I would rate it seven out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, we used Nagios, PRTG, and SolarWinds. While they primarily concentrate on monitoring network devices, ThousandEyes places its focus on monitoring services and providers hosted on those devices.

How was the initial setup?

I've conducted a straightforward proof of concept, and based on that, I believe that it's relatively easy to implement. I would rate it at an eight in terms of ease of setup.

What about the implementation team?

It is possible to have it up and running in a relatively short timeframe, as long as you have the basic prerequisites covered.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is a quite expensive solution. I would rate it ten out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

This tool stands out as highly dependable because it differs significantly from other implementation tools for two crucial reasons. First, it offers the capability to monitor service providers and cloud providers with near real-time responsiveness. Second, it doesn't operate in an exclusively passive manner. Unlike traditional network monitoring tools, it can be both installed and utilized concurrently alongside the existing corporate network infrastructure. I would rate it eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

An affordable and easy-to-use solution that saves time and enables end-to-end monitoring
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is very easy to use."
  • "The tool does not provide features for application-level monitoring."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for network monitoring.

What is most valuable?

The product provides end-to-end monitoring. We can monitor the completed network link utilization and link errors. The solution is very easy to use.

What needs improvement?

The tool does not provide features for application-level monitoring. It would be a great advantage if the tool provides application monitoring features. More advanced features must be available in the dashboards.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for more than six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool is stable. I rate the stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is scalable. We have more than 1000 users.

How are customer service and support?

The support is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The product is easy to deploy. The complete installation takes one week. We need three to four engineers for the deployment. It is easy to maintain the solution. We need only one person for the maintenance.

What was our ROI?

The product is very useful. It has saved us time and money.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is cheap. We procure it by making a one-time payment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Other tools like Huawei M2000 are available in the market. However, ThousandEyes is a better solution. It is very advanced. It's cloud-based. It can monitor different layers of the network. We can monitor multiple vendors using ThousandEyes.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution to others. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Reliable. simple to set up, and offers fast monitoring capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "It's fairly easy to set up."
  • "With ThousandEyes, it's one click or one place where I can see all of my public prefixes, how long it takes, when the last update was, where a route was missing from the internet, or is it actually causing a black hole."
  • "Once I fully use the tool 100%, I'm sure I would have something to critique, however, for now, I'm happy with it."

What is our primary use case?

We usually monitor for our public prefixes and propagations and if they are getting dropped or there is a route application. It is mainly on the public-facing side or the internet-facing use case. There are other use cases, however, for me, for the work that I do, that's what I'm using a ThousandEyes for.

How has it helped my organization?

With ThousandEyes, it's one click or one place where I can see all of my public prefixes, how long it takes, when the last update was, where a route was missing from the internet, or is it actually causing a black hole. That's where I've been using it, and so far so good. It has made my life easier for sure.

What is most valuable?

The solution makes monitoring faster.

It's fairly easy to set up.

It has been stable.

What needs improvement?

The solution is quite good. For my use case, the information or the page with the info that I need is there. I'm happy with it. Now I'm sure there are other functionalities that I have not actually looked into. Once I fully use the tool 100%, I'm sure I would have something to critique, however, for now, I'm happy with it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution has been stable so far. We find it reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution was deployed by a different team. I'm an end user of this tool. In terms of the scalability or how it's done, we have a totally different tooling team who looks after all these tools. I won't be able to offer any insights into scaling.

We have maybe 100 plus users. They're all infrastructure engineers or your level three guys or the help desk, even security guys.

I'm not sure what the extent of the solution's use is throughout the organization.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't been in contact with technical support for this deployment.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are also using Accedian Skylight. We have both solutions in the organization.

We also have SolarWinds and Splunk.

How was the initial setup?

Although I wasn't a part of the initial process, the initial setup was straightforward. Once we knew all the things that needed to happen, the solution was deployed without much of an issue.

The solution being in a cloud helped with that. We have a hybrid environment, so we have a presence there and on-premise as well. With regards to the cloud, it was easy. Anything that's going cloud, as long as you know what you're doing, is easy.

I'm not sure how long the deployment itself took.

What about the implementation team?

We have a contract and a working relationship with Cisco. They were helping us in deploying the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have no visibility on the pricing. It's not an aspect of the solution I deal with.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The company might have done evaluations as part of the business case compilations. I don't know on what basis ThousandEyes was selected, however, now that we have ThousandEyes, I don't think we'll be going for something else.

What other advice do I have?

I am a user, not an integrator.

I'm not sure which version of the product we're using.

I'd advise potential new users that, if it solves your use case, then they should go for it. It's really easy to use, there is nothing complicated. We've had no issues whatsoever.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable feature is network security.

What needs improvement?

The solution's network and reporting could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ThousandEyes for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution an eight out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our clients for the solution are enterprise businesses.

I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is very easy.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup an eight to nine out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

We deployed the solution to a large number of sites one by one. It took us a couple of months to deploy the tool in the data center and several sites. Each single device deployment is not that complicated and does not take long.

What other advice do I have?

The solution has positively impacted our organization by getting all the logs. We deployed ThousandEyes only to collect data. The solution has largely impacted our monitoring system, and we can quickly get all the logs if any site is down. The solution provides good and easy network monitoring. I would recommend the solution to other users.

Overall, I rate ThousandEyes an eight out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

ThousandEyes is basically for network monitoring.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are integration and ease of use. Majorly with the integration because we use most of the Cisco products too.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement in terms of customization and user-friendliness.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ThousandEyes for a few months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

A solution that provides good value for its cost but requires improvements in its integration capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution's initial setup process was straightforward...In terms of ROI, the solution is worth the money."
  • "Presently, it lacks the ability to integrate with other Cisco products."

What is our primary use case?

The solution provides me with diverse links from ISPs.

What is most valuable?

Application visibility is a feature I found to be the most valuable one in the solution.

What needs improvement?

I would like the solution to integrate with other Cisco platforms. Presently, it lacks the ability to integrate with other Cisco products.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ThousandEyes for five years. Also, I am using the solution's latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is good. Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten. The solution should be able to integrate with other platforms to scale up. Around 10,000 people in my company are working on the solution. It's not extensively used in my organization. Also, there are no plans to increase the number of users using the solution.

How are customer service and support?

I have never contacted the technical support team since I have never faced issues with the solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I have used other products. It is my company that decided to choose ThousandEyes.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup process was straightforward. It took us only a week to deploy the solution in our company. The deployment and maintenance are done probably once a month. I don't get involved in the product deployment since primary engineers are responsible for the deployment part.

What about the implementation team?

I implemented the solution by myself.

What was our ROI?

In terms of ROI, the solution is worth the money.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In our company, we incur a yearly expense in our company for the licensing part. I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten since it is expensive. Also, there are no additional costs apart from the standard license and fees for the solution.

What other advice do I have?

I would tell those planning to use the solution that they first need to use it in a lab before purchasing it. I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.

Provides deep visibility on the network with great internet and WAN abilities
Pros and Cons
  • "ThousandEyes gives companies better visibility."
  • "ThousandEyes gives companies better visibility, showing effective notes on the network layer and the application's performance for anyone inside or outside the data center, while providing deep visibility on the network, legal support, and user requests."
  • "They only offer synthetic requests."
  • "They only offer synthetic requests, so they should create an agent for users that can track your request."

What is our primary use case?

ThousandEyes gives companies better visibility. So it shows you the effective notes on the network layer and the application's performance for anyone inside or outside the data center. It provides deep visibility on the network, legal support, and user requests.

In addition, it shows you averages around the world, so if there's a breach or problem on the public cloud around the world, ThousandEyes notifies you of this problem and if you're affected.

What is most valuable?

The best feature is the Internet and the WAN because ThousandEyes lets you see the network layers and every hop on the network. So, it's not only a browser or sensitive request that shows you the problem. It allows a deep dive into the problem.

What needs improvement?

They only offer synthetic requests, so they should create an agent for users that can track your request. For example, if I'm playing a game or listening to a song on Spotify, ThousandEyes cannot follow my requests and show me the problem. If they can do this, it will make them the best product in the market.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for one year. It is deployed on the public cloud, and agents deploy on the public cloud, data centers, and end-users computers.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable product and provides all the features they promise. I haven't seen any mark that affects user-to-user.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. Each team member can get a user to connect UI and browse the data.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the support a ten out of ten. We've contacted the technical support team for integration purposes, and they answered on time and resolved our problems.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We chose ThousandEyes because of the internet and WAN ability. The Cisco FSO, Full-Stack Observability, is also good. ThousandEyes covers the end-user monitoring site, AppDynamics covers the APM side, and Intersight covers the whole infrastructure and the cloud.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very easy, and the deployment was fast and took about ten minutes.

What was our ROI?

There is a return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The costs depend on the agency deployed and how many requests are made over the agents. The price is in the middle. It is not cheap and not expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution an eight out of ten because of its ability to show the network list, and each top is the best that I've seen. Regarding advice, you should set up your agents carefully to cover all of your infrastructure and enterprise. The agent's installation and data centers being monitored are important. In addition, do not activate all of your agents at the same time. The price depends on the usage, and if you consume a license, you enable them simultaneously. Try to learn and get the data and analyze it.

In a future release, monitoring and user behaviour should be included. It would be great if ThousandEyes could monitor real user data and provide different packages for large, midsize, and small companies.

Provides an excellent analysis service; extremely reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "The company provides excellent service."
  • "I think the analysis service that Cisco provides is extremely valuable."
  • "It's an expensive solution."
  • "Cisco is the standard for anyone wanting something good, the problem with it is the cost and that means that it's not accessible to many smaller companies."

What is our primary use case?

We're in security and video, and Cisco is the main product we use as far as routers and switches. It's all high-end, we do a lot of government work. Right now, we have over 4,500 users, and we've been in business for close to 16 years. 85% of our clients are businesses. At the moment we have 300 users on the cloud, and maybe 30 or 40 cameras. We are resellers and I'm a systems integrator.

What is most valuable?

I think the analysis service that Cisco provides is extremely valuable. Our clients want to be able to grab the video and stream it to their phone, with alarm notifications.

What needs improvement?

Cisco is the standard for anyone wanting something good, the problem with it is the cost and that means that it's not accessible to many smaller companies. It really is a high-end product.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite stable, I've never had any problems with it but if there is an issue, then the IT personnel will take care of it. We have a couple of people taking care of maintenance. Usually IT takes care of the hardware and the software, and the administrator is the one that actually deals with the system management and operations.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is quite scalable, we have around 5,000 users in total.

How are customer service and technical support?

I haven't dealt with technical support but I believe they would provide a good service. With any big company service is probably the most important thing.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup requires knowledge of the system security.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For now, billing is on an annual basis but it may change to a monthly fee. It's what we would prefer. Whichever way that goes depends on the equipment and service.

What other advice do I have?

There's generally a recommendation to go with Cisco, but most clients don't have the money for that and go for a lower end solution.

I would rate this solution an eight out of 10.

  • "We can show the traffic path in some cases, but it's almost impossible to do so in cloud networks like CDN, Akamai, or Microsoft."

What is our primary use case?

Our enterprise solution uses ThousandEyes for end-to-end point-to-cloud and network flow monitoring. We usually automate the monitoring of traffic flow with ThousandEyes.

What is most valuable?

The tool's most valuable feature is its scalability. It is a good tool for network admins.

What needs improvement?

We can show the traffic path in some cases, but it's almost impossible to do so in cloud networks like CDN, Akamai, or Microsoft.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate ThousandEyes' stability as nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the solution's scalability a ten out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

The tool's deployment is easy and takes a few weeks to complete. Ten resources would be needed to help with the process.

What about the implementation team?

A consultant helped us with the deployment.

What was our ROI?

We have seen ROI with the tool's use.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's pricing is cheap; I rate it a five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
