Omada Access Points Reviews

We are a telecom operator in Romania, and we use Omada equipment to provide services to our customers. It's bundled into a service package that we sell to B2B customers who pay a subscription. The Omada controller is installed at our office, and the access points are deployed to the customer's location. While we normally cater to small and medium-sized enterprises, this is a solution that we sell to large enterprise companies. 

We have been using Omada with open SSIDs and maybe an external Compass portal. When you are on an open wireless network, you must also isolate your client because it is not secure otherwise. The other method is to have an SSID with a password, and the password is typically not given to everyone. it's mostly for the staff. 

The other SSID has a setting that allows devices to communicate with each other on the local network or with some external agents. It's typically used by staff as a business hub. 

We use the mesh networking capabilities, but it's not one of the main features we use. We've used it off and on, but we generally refrain from using the mesh network. Instead, we typically run the access points through the cable to make sure the connection is always on. 

For example, we have been using only one mesh, not multiple hubs because the performance usually degrades with every hub. If I were setting up a multi-hub mesh without Omada,  I would see a reduction of speed by about half, so the first has maybe 500 megabytes and the second has 250, etc. That's not efficient. We prefer to use cable when possible. 

Omada could add some API integrations that would help with our automated solution. We're trying to integrate, and we're having some issues because some of the calls are not there. The API still needs some development. They could also enhance the reporting capabilities. At the same time, Omada's reporting has improved considerably in the latest version. That was an issue for us, but now it seems okay.

More carrier-grade integrations should be available on Omada access points in the future. They could also add a hot spot and maybe a mobile upload solution. I still have issues from time to time when switching access points. I'm still connected to the SSID, but my signal drops when I switch from 5 Ghz to 2.4 Ghz. I'm not switched to the other access point that is closer to me. I should have been switched automatically to the other access point. Occasionally, the handoff doesn't work. I have tried this with WiFi 6, and it worked fine, so I think they may have resolved this issue in the latest versions.

I have used Omada since 2020, so it has been nearly 4 years.

Omada is fairly stable. We don't have any issues 90 percent of the time. It works fine in most situations. It has been a success story for delivering WiFi services in Romania. Our customers are happy, and I've been satisfied with Omada's performance as an engineer. 

Omada's scalability is pretty good. We have around 2,000 access points, and it runs on a Windows virtual machine without using many resources. 

I rate Omada technical support eight out of 10. We mostly do not need support. In one case, they helped us customize our solution, and I was pretty satisfied.

I rate Omada eight out of 10 for ease of setup. We faced some issues. For example, we couldn't find anything in the documentation about which user and password to use when onboarding access points to the VMware platform. Periodically, the access points do not show, and we must search for various software versions. There is no compatibility feedback showing which access points are compatible.

Cisco has this documentation on the website, and you can also do a compatibility matrix between access points and wireless controllers. With Omada, you only have a normal controller. 

We're making more with Omada than we are spending. The only issue is that we are not making that much money because we sell it cheaper. However, the profit margin is pretty decent. It's at least as good as the Cisco and Aruba access points. It isn't better. Even if the margin is a higher percentage, it's actually lower in the absolute value. Still, the solution is cheaper, so I would consider it a net positive. We're not necessarily making a lot of money with it, but we are using this to leverage other solutions, and I think it's doing a pretty good job. 

The cost of Omada is much better than Aruba and Cisco, and it does what we need it to do in most cases. Around 10 percent of our clients need a more carrier-grade solution for mobile platforms. 

I rate Omada Access Points nine out of 10. If I were only comparing it to other access points without external antennas, I would give it a 10 out of 10. However, Cisco and Aruba have all kinds of access points with external antennas. As far as I know, Omada has no access points with external antennas. That's one area where they could improve to be more of a carrier-grade solution and become more competitive with Cisco or Aruba. The pricing is better. 

Omada works well no matter where you put it, whether it's a hotel or a residential complex. It just works. The main attraction of Omada isn't the price. The technical specs are quite good. It's on par or very close to Cisco or Aruba Wireless. 

I am trying to design a wireless network with Omada equipment. I have deployed Omada in office areas, and now I want to deploy it in a hotel. The company size where I usually deploy is medium-sized, like twenty to thirty users.

Omada is easy to manage with cloud management. It's also easy to set up, which helps streamline network deployment.

Omada is easy to manage, has cloud management features, and is easy to set up. These qualities make it valuable for my needs.

Omada needs improvement in the distance it can cover. I am looking for an access point that can cover long distances.

I have used Omada for one year.

I rate the stability of Omada at eight on a scale of one to ten.

I have never received negative feedback regarding scalability from my clients, so it seems adequate for my needs.

I have never requested technical support from Omada, as everything is clear and available on their website.

Previously, I used Ubiquiti. I switched as sometimes Ubiquiti was complicated to configure, and the distance coverage was not good for me.

The initial setup is not complex. It is very easy to set up Omada products.

I manage the setup myself.

The access point is priced around 30,000 francs, and it is less expensive compared to other solutions.

I have considered testing Aruba, as many people use its solutions.

Omada is a good solution that I would recommend, and it is less expensive while providing good results.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.

The main purpose of Access Points is because most of the users use only mobile devices and portable devices. We use other special applications dedicated to our company through mobile devices only. We are connecting to the application. 

We currently use our ERP systems and other things on an on-premises server basis. But in the near future, we are moving to the cloud basis. So when we go to the cloud basis, actually, we want to connect very fast. 

We use Access Points for the same thing, to connect to cloud-based applications, also within our on-premises servers. Those are the main key areas why we use Access Points.

Omada Access Points are very good in terms of wired technologies and wired connectivity. Nowadays, all technologies are developing for mobility and portability, but a wired connection is not good for all applications, especially mobile applications. 

Omada Access Points are very compatible with both wired and wireless technologies, which makes them very good for a wide range of applications.

The problem is that when the number of users increases, TP-Link automatically drops the speed, and in terms of coverage, it falls short. We are not using any industrial-level equipment or accuracy. We are looking for something at the industrial level, advanced Access Points, not the basic ones from TP-Link.

Omada Access Points could be improved in terms of connectivity and speed. That is the main thing. The other thing is security. Currently, most people are sharing their passwords, allowing unauthorized users to access Wi-Fi networks. So, the main areas for improvement are security, accessibility, and speed.

I have been using Omada Access Points from TP-Link for more than seven years.

We have some issues with stability. That's why we are looking for the best Wi-Fi solutions.

It is not so fast. That is the main problem. It is not only from the access point, so we are also looking for some firewall parts. So now we resolved it for the firewall part, but now we are looking for something like this Wi-Fi device. 

So that's why the thing is the Internet speed, another one is security. Security domains have unauthorized access through sharing their password and other things. That's the thing we want to minimize.

Scalability-wise, this solution when integrated with Huawei is not a very scalable product, but all other networks, such as Aruba, have good integrations with other technologies. So, scalability-wise, those things are good.

We have about 70 users in our location.

Technical support: we are communicating with only one vendor. So he is good in technical support, but we are not dealing with the original technical support place or for the mobile. 

So we don't have that much experience from the device itself, device manufacturers itself.

We just purchased it from some other vendor and installed it ourselves. Access Point installation is easy, but it's a little bit difficult when we are searching for some special features.

Deployment requires some additional risk skills because when we require some new features or new products. So, it may take a little more time than the normal time.

One Access Point takes me about one hour to complete everything and the features. The basic installation I can do that myself. But when it regularly requires something like Aruba and Juniper, they are coming in with some special features. Before I move to the new installation, I need some hands-on experience, and then I can move.  

Maintenance is actually 50% easy, 50% difficult. Some Aruba access points have a centralized maintenance system, which is very good. But if we have to maintain individual access points one by one, it's not comfortable. New technologies are more user-friendly because we can connect all access points to a centralized location and maintain them from there. So, the maintenance part is good overall.

TP-Link is a good price. They have a good price. But technology-wise, it has to be better.

The licensing cost is a one-time purchase. 

Personally, we believe that Omada Access Points are not good enough for our requirements and the location. So, that's why, instead of TP-Link, we need some advanced technologies, something like Aruba or Juniper. We are currently using the very basic TP-Link ones, which don't cover our requirements. That's why we are looking for other technologies.

When we select the access point, we need to search for speed and security. And if a centralized management system is available, that's the best one. So, that is the initial thing I want to advise other users.

Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten. There are areas of improvement.

I'm using them in six campgrounds.

When this solution is set up, it is solid. It offers fast deployment. That's why I've been using this solution, and it is cost-effective. I can usually get them the next day if I need to.

I'm still testing their meshing capabilities. The indoor products are great, but I'm trying to see how well their outdoor meshing works.

Their ordering platform could be improved, though. Some of their distributors are a pain to work with. I'm at a point where I want to do almost a hundred-device order. So, I'm gonna try to reach out to Omada directly.

I've been using Omada APs for two or three years, and I'm about to deploy about 22 more. They're outdoor APs, and I also use their switches. I have over 50 clients on Omada's equipment, and I haven't had any problems with their stuff. But I have had problems with Meraki's equipment, though.

I had a site down in my area. A lightning storm burned up eight of them. They seem very good, but all the Meraki's I've been dealing with, they've had bad firmware issues. So I had to go to all my sites, and they're all down. I had to walk them through, so it cost me hours of time dealing with that. So, bad firmware where things would just drop out and stop working with Meraki. So they obviously don't do enough testing for as expensive as their stuff is.

And that's different from Omada. Omada is more stable. You spend $50,000 something on Meraki equipment. I get $200 on an AP for Omada, or maybe less than that. And you're paying $1,400 or $1,200 for a Cisco AP. So I can buy six of them for one Meraki.

Omada has a new Wi-Fi 7 coming out. So far, I like their outdoor APs. I'd love to wait and see how well their newer models work, but I'm still running tests on stuff right now to see how far their equipment works.

When I called in,  customer service and support got to me right away. So I've been impressed with them ever since.

Once you've set up one, you can copy the configuration and deploy another network in about ten minutes.

For the deployment process, I had to site the serial numbers and apply the IP structure, and, literally, as soon as I walk into the building, I'm plugging stuff in. I'm done. So the deployment process is efficient in terms of speed and very consistent.

The nice part is as long as you have knowledge of how to do all the backend programming, you'll be fine. But I haven't had any problems or issues. For example, I ripped out most of Ubiquiti's crap because their stuff fails all the time, and their provisioning sucks. They're probably better now than they were a year ago, but I used to yank out every Ubiquiti piece of crap they had. But people get better, but Ubiquiti gave me a bad taste in my mouth. But all the equipment that Ubiquiti had in all the properties I was working for, we had failures all the time, so I didn't like their equipment.

I only lost one switch in the last five years, and I haven't lost any Omada APs. So Omada's equipment lasts. 

Overall, I'd give Omada APs a nine out of ten for their reliability.

Omada Access Points is great for wireless networking in businesses, especially smaller and medium-sized ones. However, larger corporations and banks often prefer popular European brands like Cisco.

What I like the most about Omada Access Points is its reliability and easiness. It has the "glance technology" that makes it even more user-friendly. When I switched from my old Wi-Fi system to Omada, it was very simple. I've noticed a growing interest in Omada Access Points among others too. People want to upgrade their Wi-Fi and stay up-to-date with the latest tech, and Omada seems to be the way to go. In my experience, the solution has been dependable and has kept up with modern technology.

In terms of improvement, I would like Omada Access Points to be more versatile and adaptable across different industries. For example, it could be used in shopping malls to provide Wi-Fi and offer features like automatic notifications and shop promotions when you enter. It can help businesses by giving special deals to loyal customers, offering a modern way of shopping compared to the usual online methods.

I have been using Omada Access Points for almost ten years.

Omada Access Points is generally stable, but there's room for improvement. Sometimes, clients may not fully understand all the features or may need third-party support for certain integrations that aren't available. For instance, a restaurant might want Wi-Fi zones but lack a billing application. These additional features could be helpful if they were included with the product. I would rate the stability a seven out of ten.

The solution is scalable. We currently have less than five customers working with Omada Access Points. This is because the technology is relatively new, and people are gradually adopting it. It's not yet at its peak, but it's steadily gaining traction in the market. The plan is to expand into the hotel and tourism sector, as tourism is significant in the country. We believe there is a lot of potential in this plan for our future.

We hardly need tech support for Omada Access Points because it is very reliable these days. Complaints are rare, and technology has improved, so problems hardly ever happen. It is a lot different now from the days when electronic components often had issues.

Omada Access Points is easy to set up, and most people find it very straightforward. It takes about an hour to deploy. In the past, people were worried about using Wi-Fi access points because of security issues, but things have gotten much safer now. Omada Access Points can be set up differently depending on what people need. Some like using the cloud, especially for things like collecting health data in remote places. They use services like Azure for data. Projects funded by the World Bank often follow this approach to keep things clear and transparent when using funds and gathering data.

Omada Access Points has competitive prices, especially compared to European brands. It is a budget-friendly choice for companies. The licensing cost depends on the features you need. Licensing is expensive at the start but gets cheaper as you buy more. It might take a few years to see significant price drops. Typically, larger companies can afford licensing, while it's less affordable for smaller businesses.

I recommend using Omada Access Points because it offers peace of mind. They're wireless, so you can move around freely. It is also great for open development projects, allowing you to set up Wi-Fi zones outside of traditional office settings. It opens up many possibilities, like working in a park or hosting training seminars with reliable Wi-Fi everywhere. Overall, I would rate it an eight out of ten. 

We initially used Omada Access Points solely for our head office without integrating them with the Omada software. However, after incorporating the Omada VPN router, switch, and centralized management system, we've experienced a significant improvement in our daily operations. Specifically, in the IT department, we now have enhanced control and visibility over IP access and user activities within and outside the office premises.

The Omada Access Points, apart from being wireless, are significant due to their integration with a centralized system like Omada. This feature greatly enhances network control and efficiency. Previously, we relied on local Microsoft tools, but now with Omada's cloud management, we have centralized control over our network equipment, including distribution to branches. This has allowed us to configure server IP addresses more effectively and implement secure VPN connections between the head office and branches. The performance and availability of Omada Access Points have met our business needs, particularly in improving network control and facilitating direct access for developers to branch services. This has streamlined operations within the IT department without affecting the customer experience.          

Regarding the Omada Access Points, apart from upgrading the hardware capabilities to newer versions like Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7, I don't have any specific ideas for further improvement.

I have been using Omada Access Points for the past 4 months. 

In terms of stability, I would rate it around a seven, as we encountered a few issues after making modifications to settings recently. Regarding technical support, although we haven't directly contacted them, based on support forums and reviews, I would estimate their support to be around an eight.

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate the scalability of Omada Access Points at around seven. While it is scalable, there are some limitations in terms of user interface and certain functionalities like LB and security features. Approximately one hundred plus users in our organization use this solution daily. 

For the setup of the Omada Access Points along with the VPN router and Omada central software, I found it to be very easy. Once connected to the network, simply clicking "adopt" in the software handles all the settings for the access point automatically, making it a one-click process. I would rate the setup experience a ten out of ten. There weren't any significant challenges during the deployment as it was quite straightforward. My deployment took around five days, primarily because it was my first time handling such tasks. The implementation was done in-house by me, as the equipment was purchased from an online reseller. The deployment involved five people: two technical staff, one developer, and one management head, all working in-house.

The solution is deployed using an Omada hardware controller connected to the head office network, acting as a server for configuring the entire company network.

On a scale of one to ten for pricing, with one being cheap and ten being expensive, I would rate Omada Access Points at a one for its cost-effectiveness.

Before implementing Omada Access Points, we used a more basic networking setup without centralized management. We did evaluate other options like Fortinet, but ultimately chose Omada due to its affordability and compatibility with our existing devices.

Based on my experience, I would recommend Omada Access Points, especially for small businesses. Overall, I would rate Omada Access Points at a nine for their functionality and ease of use, and the overall Omada networking system at an eight.

We use Omada Access Points for the network and Wi-Fi.

The solution takes a long time to switch to another connection, which should be improved. The solution’s stability and performance should be improved.

Omada Access Points is a scalable solution. Around 20 users use Omada Access Points in our organization.

We may increase the number of users if there's a possibility to deploy the solution supporting a greater number of users.

The solution's initial setup is very straightforward.

The solution's deployment takes 30 minutes to one hour. We follow the product manual for the solution's deployment. The deployment team has the technical knowledge to deploy routers. We can implement the solution remotely.

We don't have to pay for the license because the solution has no subscription cost.

Beginners or small businesses can use Omada Access Points, but I cannot recommend it for enterprise-level businesses.

Overall, I rate Omada Access Points a seven out of ten.

The main use case is for large industrial refrigerators, white spaces, industrial spaces, and homes.

Its sturdiness and cost-effectiveness are the most valuable features.

Omada Access Points currently offers relatively basic managing tools, which are suitable for beginners and provide a good user experience. There is room for wider improvements and additional features to enhance managing capabilities. These improvements should include more options for managing users, connections, and general device connections, to provide greater availability and meet the needs of a broader range of users.

We have been using it for the last two months.

It has been very stable until now, so I rate it nine out of ten.

It offers good scalability features. I would rate it nine out of ten.

We did not have any need for technical support until now, so I cannot evaluate that. It is working smoothly without major complications.

We previously used Alcatel and we had a negative experience with its networking equipment. It is expensive, difficult to manage, and prone to frequent failures, particularly with cell phones. One trial antenna specifically caused major issues by denying the service. We had to reset the equipment entirely at one point, as it was unresponsive and reverted to default settings, erasing the previously set password and fixed IP address.

The initial setup was straightforward and easy. I would rate it nine out of ten.

The deployment process is still in progress, with delays caused by infrastructure issues. The maximum delay experienced was approximately ten days. The implementation is outsourced, we only manage the solution. We employed a consultant for integration purposes. 

The price is affordable, and we haven't had any additional costs due to having a limited number of users. I would rate it one out of ten. I am not entirely sure if there is a need to purchase additional licenses for online management in the future, but currently, the available resources are sufficient for our needs.

After evaluating options such as Alcatel, Ubiquiti, and Cisco, we ultimately chose Omada due to its durability, cost-effectiveness, and robustness. 

It is a highly effective solution for industrial use, where static appeal is not a significant factor. It may not be suitable for office environments due to its cumbersome nature and larger size. I would recommend assessing the specific needs and requirements before opting for it. I would rate it nine out of ten.

We primarily use the solution for SMB users to cover areas for WiFi. It can be used in homes and businesses. It's not ideal for larger applications.

The stability is very good.

It is easy to set up.

The pricing is reasonable. 

It's better for smaller organizations. This would not work for enterprises. It is not very scalable. 

We're like to have more visibility in terms of who is connecting to the service. That would help us to monitor bandwidth more effectively.

I've used the solution for a few years. 

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. 

It is not extremely scalable. It's more suitable for smaller setups. YOu can also just have a limited number of users. The more users on it, the lower quality of the connection.

We have five or six people on the product right now. 

We did not contact technical support in the past.

We did use a solution previously. However, that was a long time ago.

The initial setup is pretty simple. It's very plug-and-play. You just set up everything and connect everything to the LAN.

It took me about half an hour to deploy it. We can set up some parameters, and you are done. 

You don't really need anyone to handle maintenance. It's a small setup.

We can handle the setup ourselves. It's pretty easy if you just follow the guidance in order to set up the solution. It helps if you have a bit of knowledge. 

It is not expensive. At this time, I don't have a license for it. I don't need to pay for licensing. 

I'm not sure of the exact version of the solution we're using. 

I'd recommend the solution to others. The solution is reasonably priced, stable, and easy to deploy.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

I am using TP-Link Auranet EAP for connecting multiple networks and devices at the same time.

The most valuable feature of TP-Link Auranet EAP is its high performance.

There should be more remote support for the mobile application.

I have been using TP-Link Auranet EAP for approximately four years.

TP-Link Auranet EAP is stable.

The solution is salable. However, I have only used it personally at home. There are five to six people using the solution in my home.

I have not contacted the support from TP-Link Auranet EAP.

I have used other solutions prior to using TP-Link Auranet EAP. This solution is quicker and has a capable mobile application to monitor changes and settings.

The initial setup was simple and took one day to do.

I did the deployment of the solution myself.

The price of the solution is not a lot for five people to use it.

I rate TP-Link Auranet EAP a nine out of ten.
