Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Offers a user-friendly interface but lacks enterprise-level features
EdgeVerve AssistEdge RPA is not difficult to deploy and the process was fine. Concerning deployment time, it usually takes one or two days. It totally depends upon the number of use cases and the processes where we are implementing. It might take weeks as well, depending upon the process in which we are implementing.

Effective document automation with strong integration capabilities and very good support
Our primary use case for Nintex RPA involves getting documents from emails, reading those documents, and transferring them from the IRD to finance. We are also exploring the LP and Intech features for more advanced use cases Nintex RPA helps our government and public sector customers with…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It lets users add value with their time other than focusing on downloading Excel files, consolidating, and drawing up formulas. Since everything is structured, these easily are incorporated into the bot's work."
"Being able to connect with third-party tools is the best feature."
"The most valuable feature is that a job by RPA can be done three or four times faster than a human without human error."
"The features like IQ Bot and Metabot have helped our organization to gain business trust and provide a greater number of unique solutions to our clients for complex projects."
"Our onboarding process was pretty good. We got access to all software that we needed to learn and utilize. The Automation Anywhere University is really good. In our business, the person who was onboarding us helped us to understand how to create a center of excellence and what verticals we needed to improve. So, the support was there. We are gradually becoming a center of excellence ourselves."
"Just for this use case, we had around 300 tickets coming in every month. We went live last month and the tickets went down to around 80 as of August 20th. While it might touch around 100, over a period of around six months it will become zero because we have not removed all the legacy data. We are just doing it from the go date of when we went live. The target is that it will be zero after three months. So, it's working well."
"My organization has worked with multiple clients and helped them automate their repetitive and mundane processes, and these organizations have seen a drastic increase in employee productivity, reduced human errors, and better SLAs, all of which leads to customer satisfaction."
"The features are pretty easy to use, like the drag and drop feature. It is easy and understand, even a layman knows how the application works. All the basic stuff can be done by anybody."
"The features of EdgeVerve AssistEdge RPA that customers find most helpful include the easy understanding and good UI/UX."
"EdgeVerve AssistEdge RPA is more affordable than UiPath."
"There are some typical features I like such as email automation, XL automation, some AI/ML capabilities that are evolving, but are not quite mature yet, and I like the website automation."
"The feature I like the most is the ability to capture elements easily, especially when automating web-based applications. Additionally, I find the SAP connectors to be quite beneficial."
"AssistEdge made it so that the reps didn't need to maneuver through 10 or 20 different systems. We tied all that together in the background, so the reps had a shared UI, and everything else happened in the background without their knowledge. When they were retrieving data, it was done in the background through automation and pulling up to that generic UI layer"
"Good email automation and XL automation."
"The tool follows a role-based working model to create things. It helps to track what others are doing with the system."
"The user interface is not complicated, even for new users. Two to three weeks is enough to get ahold of it."
"Attended automation has diverted 34 percent of training calls to our tech support centers."
"Since then, we've been able to close numerous claims and therefore reduce our reserves by literally millions of dollars."
"As a business user, it's so easy to use. With the recording of the processes, we didn't need to hire a specific developer... we are able to build most of our processes without having to develop the actual development skillset... the simplicity is the biggest win."
"Besides that, it works, it's stable, it has nice performance, and was, therefore, a good decision to go with it."
"The recording feature enables us to record what we're doing, like typing or clicking the mouse, and to identify objects on the screen. We basically teach the program how to type, instead of a person. That's the most powerful feature."
"The recording capability is valuable because of the amount of data it captures automatically. It's quite good. It means less development, and fewer configuration settings to fill in after you're done."
"For the processes that we have automated, the efficiency has increased by 100 percent."
"Kryon RPA is very stable - we've not had many disruptions, and the product is updated regularly."

Cons

"Automation Anywhere is unable to connect to the database directly."
"We want to have greater control on deciding when we want to upgrade to a newer version"
"Sometimes, I find that Excel automation is not as expected. Excel automation can be enhanced."
"As far as stability is concerned, there have been some challenges. Sometimes, we experience our computers freezing up for no apparent reason or the network being inaccessible."
"We have done some automation of incoming documents, but it has been somewhat hard."
"The tools are fundamentally solid. However, when I think of self-healing, such as automation with a new prompt or a new Windows patch occurring, being able to handle those kinds of things on top of what Automation Anywhere already does and that automatically click through and do the reboots that are necessary to just have a clean run would be ideal."
"In the debugging mode, it writes all the logs to text files, but it doesn't ever clean them up."
"I have found that Automation Anywhere is prone to bugs in handling Excel. It breaks and gives vague error messages. I have had a lot of experience with that and learned that it is better to write a Python script instead of using Automation Anywhere's package when dealing with Excel because it is buggy and tends to break, unfortunately."
"There should be more activities like extraction for reading or converting PDFs. There are fewer activities compared to other tools. There are no custom activities."
"The tool's alternatives work on drag-and-drop functionality without creating custom code. We don't have an in-built queue system and use RabbitMQ for it. The solution also doesn't have a framework."
"We provide them with consulting and strategy advisory services, but we have never recommended any organization to use EdgeVerve AssistEdge RPA."
"Lacks integration with third party tools."
"AssistEdge isn't a simple tool like Blue Prism or other RPA solutions with configurable items that you can drag and drop. This involved a lot of hard coding, which posed two challenges. One, we did not have that skillset, so we depended on Infosys. Two, it's a beast to go back and update or make changes when things are hard coded because you can't just move those configurable items back around."
"In my opinion, areas for improvement in this solution lie in handling documentation, especially when dealing with data from various layouts or formats like scanned PDFs. Currently, new features are emerging in other tools, like generative AI, that could enhance these aspects."
"The solution could be improved if it provided integration with third party tools like Python, native integration, which is very important."
"At first, we had problems with the object detection but in this latest release it has been better, and I think it keeps getting better."
"Kryon RPA's integration with other solutions could be more seamless."
"We need stronger governance to know, when a transaction is done, whether it worked or failed; strong logging. That would be helpful."
"We use Google Drive a lot. If somebody sends us a spreadsheet or a document, it's going to be in Google’s format. It's not going to be in Microsoft Office format. But currently, there's no integration with Google’s documents. That would be a huge plus to have."
"It would be better to have [upgrades] done automatically, like an application on your smartphone. Or even if done manually, the upgrade should just be "next, next, next," and it's upgraded, rather than making it a project to upgrade."
"There isn't any additional feature I'd like added to Kryon RPA because it's a good service, but the support is very, very bad, so that area could be improved."
"I would like to see a better OCR solution. That's the main thing: identifying unstructured data, like all paper documents and data from pictures."
"There are limitations on integrations with other platforms like ServiceNow. There are some issues integrating."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"They are already coming out with a community license, which is really good. That's something that I wish to have."
"They have a ridiculously expensive bot licensing structure, especially for the Asian region."
"The licensing cost of Automation Anywhere is better than UiPath and Blue Prism."
"In the Indian market, I feel that for mid-size companies, such as ourselves, that having multiple bots costs a lot. If Automation Anywhere wants to expand in the Indian market, they will need to look at their pricing."
"The price is very reasonable."
"There is a free trial so that they can get an overview, and there are different licenses that are very affordable and can suit every business model."
"Initially, they charged a premium, but now the rest of the vendors have increased their overall pricing and Automation Anywhere is not that high at this time. It's pretty viable."
"We're just starting to renew our license, and we were quoted $115,000 without the IQ Bot. The IQ Bot is another $30,000. This is with very limited pages, as we go through our first projects. The majority of the cost was for ten days of onsite training."
"EdgeVerve AssistEdge RPA is cheaper compared to other RPA tools."
"The product has reasonable pricing."
"We've more than broken even over on the license. Year to date, we are at $120,000 in savings."
"Compared to its competitors, Kryon RPA's pricing is very competitive."
"We are probably saving $6000 to $8000 a month in labor costs. It's not a ton, but we're right around $60,000 to $80,000 a year with our current deployment."
"We have a yearly license. It's about $5,000 per year."
"Licensing costs are about $100,000 a year without any additional costs."
"We're paying in the neighborhood of about $66,000 a year. The cost is fairly similar to its competitors' costs. It might have been a little bit more reasonable than the others, and that cost was with Process Discovery in addition."
"We have been able to alleviate two FTEs, which was a big savings for us. We were able to reuse those resources in other locations. It is over 5000 hours a year in total savings."
