Clunky with poor interface, lacks sufficient functionalities; it did reduce need for in-person meetings
We're phasing out the use of GoToMeeting because of some of its deficiencies. It lacks ease of connectivity, calendar integrations, and third-party app integrations. The user interface is quite poor and needs to be reworked and the product is quite clunky in comparison to its competitors. It currently lacks the ability for sharing collaborative materials during a meeting. We also found that the ability to switch between audio and video configurations isn't as intuitive as in other applications. I generally do 20-30 hours of video conferencing a day, so it makes a difference to have these features. It doesn't integrate as easily into phone systems as well as other organizations and it doesn't integrate as easy into instant messaging and collaboration tools or into software solutions. In general, some of the functionalities need to be improved.

Have streamlined daily workflow and task management but still face inconvenience from recent interface changes and limited integration options
There are challenges and issues in Microsoft Teams, such as after recent updates where group chats were combined with Teams, chats, and groups into one. Users have to work with settings to make it normal again so Teams are separated from chats, and that was a really inconvenient update. Many users ask me to help make it back again to separate Teams and groups from one-to-one chats. That's probably the worst update they've made recently. Additionally, there are some minor features, such as when I work with messages, I don't have an actual forward or quote option when replying to someone's message. I need to be careful not to miss the quote sign. For a lot of people, they are confused about where the quotes option is. I've received a couple of hundred support tickets just regarding this issue. The function to share email to Teams chat doesn't work sometimes due to our compliance policies, and sometimes it would be nice to be able to forward an email to the group chat and have further discussions. Microsoft Teams could improve by being less glitchy because it glitches a lot, leading to undelivered emails and undelivered messages. It would be beneficial if the MS application Shifts, which adds functionality to groups, could be integrated into the groups calendar. Currently, many teams don't use the app because it is not integrated with the general calendar or the Outlook calendar, making it basically a useless application. The platform needs less Copilot and more people. The general Copilot integration into the platform is less glitchy, but Microsoft Teams is quite heavy and glitchy sometimes. Stability depends a lot on compliance restrictions, policies, and quality of internet. Sometimes, when updates are enrolling, the platform glitches, breaks, or shuts down.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It can provide good communication with external partners."
"I think all the features are very useful, especially the rooms features and we present with screen sharing. Instead of organizing conferences, we are able to do that online. This has been saving us from spending on travel. From the beginning of this year, because of GoToMeeting, I have canceled I think three or four business trips."
"GoToMeeting's low latency is crucial because everybody is using VPN to connect to their PCs at work, the sound and video quality are solid, and the whiteboarding features were especially useful."
"Screenshare is the most valuable feature as well as the number of meeting participants possible in a meeting."
"There is no lagging and the meeting interaction is seamless."
"Overall, this solution is very good, with only the management and pricing in need of improvement."
"It's easy to set up."
"Classic GTM is an amazing product and much better than the competition."
"I think what the team likes most is the improvements when it comes to communication."
"It allows us to invite members to attend the meeting efficiently."
"Microsoft Teams has impacted my organization positively because we have taken the Microsoft Office suite altogether for enterprise level, which gives us exposure to all these platforms."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to have remote meetings with customers and colleagues."
"The feature I find to be the most valuable is the integration with document management capabilities and video conferencing, screen sharing, etc."
"The conversation capabilities and document management are the solution's most valuable features."
"You can add teams to a conversation. You can create reports, project plans, or many other things based on Microsoft solutions. It has improved communication between teams and within each team."
"For collaboration purposes, it's been very, very handy to use, and it's great for chat purposes."

Cons

"The new version crashes my ISP. I don't like the new version."
"Using GoToMeeting in a meeting-sized conference room is kind of a letdown. The camera is supposed to track the speaker and focus on that person so that they can be on the screen, but that feature rarely worked."
"The newer user interface takes a bit longer to get used to."
"GoToMeeting breaks down a lot. We're not sure if it's breaking down, but we start getting very erratic community channels. I don't know if it's because of GoToMeeting or if we're not buying enough bandwidth. Maybe it is just the infrastructure that it's running on. I'm not quite sure."
"The interface is a little outdated and could be better."
"Many issues over time with phone echos and unusable audio."
"GoToMeeting is too slow, which is why we no longer use it."
"The enrolment for a non-IT user should be easier. It should be simplified for non-IT users."
"I would say that Microsoft Team invitations from the calendar within the solution could be improved."
"The only thing that can be improved is that when you are talking one on one, there is no recording facility."
"Its screen-sharing feature could be better compared to a few competitors."
"Allowing you to participate in the conference to which you have been invited regardless of the platform on which it is hosted would be beneficial."
"The product is immature and lacks some of the features and functionality you would expect in a collaboration tool."
"Microsoft Teams does not have any features that Zoom, Skype, or Webex don't already have."
"They need to improve the scalability of Teams."
"The solution should improve internal and external data expansion. I am not able to send records to an external member who has been added to the call. I am only able to send the file to the internal member. These features should be enabled in that Teams so that during the call, we can share the document file and discuss at the same time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"GoToMeeting is a little bit expensive compared to other products."
"Negotiate for discounts."
"It is a little expensive although now, with the competition from Zoom and other products, they have lowered their prices and it is better."
"I rate the pricing as a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"The tool is cheaper than Google Meet. I rate it a three out of four."
"I would rate the product's pricing an eight out of ten."
"Microsoft Teams is priced less than other solutions, such as Bridge."
"There is a need to pay for the licensing... I know that the payments are made on a yearly basis...There are no extra costs in addition to the standard licensing."
"Microsoft Teams’s pricing is low."
"The solution's cost is high."
"I rate Microsoft Teams an eight out of ten for its pricing."
