Tableau has many good features. It is user-friendly, has a simple-to-use interface, and has a customizable dashboard.

When you create new fields in Tableau and you enter the formulas, there is a new small window that is there in the interface. You can enter the calculated fields, it could be more user-friendly. At this time it is limited and hard to understand at the beginning. The fields should be easier to use, such as in Microsoft Excel. You can have a difficult time understanding what to do in the fields, you end up doing trial and error to figure it out.

I have been using Tableau for approximately seven years.

Tableau has a good online community that I used for support hat is very good.

The initial setup of Tableau is relatively simple. For new users of the solution, it is easy for them to grasp. You need to understand how to connect to the Oracle or SQL Server, having knowledge of databases will make the process easier.

The licensing model of Tableau has changed since we initially purchased it three years ago and it is more complicated, and I have found it to be more expensive. They have lost market shares to Microsoft BI. My company will probably change solutions this year because of the increased pricing model.

I have evaluated Microsoft BI.

My advice to others that are wanting to implement this solution is for them to use use the online community. There are many good resources, and examples for implementing solutions. There is plenty of support.

I rate Tableau a nine out of ten.

I use Tableau for the ability to use the sheets/histories, dashboards, and various charts (some with GPS locations). I am also able to publish reports to my own server.

Tableau will automatically show charts for the related data that I choose, making it very easy to use.

In the next release, there should be more information describing each chart because users have a difficult time telling them apart. They should also include the animations/videos, similar to Power BI.

I also think that the trial period should be extended. It is currently only twenty-one days which is a short amount of time to get acquainted with the solution.

We looked at Power BI and realized that would would need some experience to use this solution since it will not automatically pair a chart with the data that it is related to.

We are a consultant, and it is our main product for consultancy.

It is deployed on the cloud as well as on-premises.

It is so easy to do a lot of things. There is a lot of flexibility and creativity in this product. In other products, you don't have this flexibility.

I would like Tableau Prep to be integrated with Tableau Desktop. I would also like more customizations for tables.

Its setup should be simple. It is complex to deploy if you work in a test environment.

I have been using this solution for four years.

It is stable.

It is easy to scale. It is suitable for small, medium, and large enterprise

Their technical support is great.

It is complex. If you work in a test environment, it is complex to deploy. It should be more simple. You need someone who can help you with deployment.

It is reasonable based on what it offers.

I would advise following Tableau Blueprint in your deployment. There are guidelines that will help you.

I would rate it a nine out of 10.

We use the solution for the dashboard and visualization. We are a consultant company with 20 employees.

The solution is deployed on-prem. I am using the latest version.

I like the visualization component. 

The development part should be better. We are putting a lot of effort in during development, so if we face any struggles, we have to find workaround solutions on the internet. It would be nice to have new workaround solutions and other options. Every customer has different expectations, so sometimes it's hard to find the right solution.

I have been using Tableau for 15 years.

It is stable.

The solution is scalable.

The setup is straightforward. It took about a week to install. For deployment and maintenance, we used two team leads.

This license is on a yearly basis.

I would rate this solution 9 out of 10.

I am using Tableau and we use it as a business intelligence tool. We plan to move to the cloud soon.

Our compliance team  has not approved some security policies on the cloud. We are working on it and we have moved some of our data warehouses to Redshift already.

The solution has helped out organization improve by providing beneficial team reports.

When compared to Power BI, it is less user-friendly.

I have been working with Tableau for eight to ten months.

Tableau is a stable product.

It's a scalable solution.

There is technical support available, but it is not as comprehensive as Power BI, because obviously, it's a Microsoft product, but you can find some useful information. The community is good, but outside the community, help is scarce.

The initial setup is easy.

It is a bit overpriced. They could decrease the price a bit.

When compared to Power BI or Qlik, Tableau is overpriced when you go with creative licenses.

Before implementing Tableau, It would be better if they looked at Power BI instead. They offer everything that Tableau does, but in a much more user-friendly manner, with much more support, and at a lower cost.

I would rate Tableau a seven out of ten.

I use the solution mainly to monitor the main KPIs and to basically show aggregated numbers of very important metrics and certain business environments. Basically, that's what I use Tableau for.

You can basically do anything with it. There's a lot of customizations you can try to explore when using Tableau. You can do a lot of things in Tableau. Even though some things are maybe not as straightforward, there are lots of solutions you can find online. There's a very good community where you can specifically find the answers to any kind of problems that you might have with Tableau. That's what I like about it.

It is easy to use. That said, it makes it possible so that you don't only make, for example, a very simple bar chart. There are lots of different charts that you can make in Tableau. Even though it requires customization and sometimes a lot of googling to find out how to do certain things, that's what makes it powerful. You can basically do everything with Tableau.

In my experience, it is stable enough.

There are already connectors to almost every single major database and service that you can possibly think of.

The installation is very straightforward, very simple.

In the last year, I haven't really used Tableau much. Therefore, I don't really know what new features there are currently or if there are fixes or improvements that have occurred in the last year.

Maybe the price could be a bit cheaper, especially if you're a personal developer that uses Tableau just to explore smaller data sets and you're not a company or something like that. Specifically for learning purposes, it could be cheaper. I know there is a student license, however, there could be a cheaper option for people who are maybe just starting to explore data and to use data visualization tools. 

I've used the solution for three and a half years. I don't use it in my current work at the moment.

The stability is fantastic. There are no bugs or glitches. Its performance is reliable. It doesn't crash or freeze. 

While my understanding is that the solution can scale, since my work basically was project-based, we didn't have a lot of occasions where we had to really scale up in our work. I can't exactly say how good or not good the scalability is. That said, in my personal experience, I didn't have any problems with it.

The users on the solution varied from project to project. Usually, it was in the dozens or so.

I've never contacted technical support in the past. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they are. 

The very first data visualization tool I used was Tableau. Tableau was how I was introduced to the field of data. Before Tableau, I hadn't actually explored any other data visualization tool.

The installation is very straightforward and simple.

The implementation process took at most five minutes. It probably takes longer to download the installer than it is to actually install the file depending on the internet connection.

Typically five to six people were needed for deployment and maintenance tasks. That would depend on the scale of the project, however. 

I was able to handle the implementation myself. I didn't need any assistance from any implementors or consultants.

You do need to pay a licensing fee, however, there aren't any additional costs. 

I was previously a customer and an end-user.

I would recommend the solution to other users and organizations. It's a very powerful data visualization tool.

I would rate the solution at least a nine out of ten. There's always room for improvement, however, in my personal experience, Tableau is up top.

Tableau is primarily used for analyzing data. It is not just a dashboarding solution, it is also a visual analytics solution, which means that end users can make their own analyses on that product. They can find lots of findings. The product has lots of capabilities that allow the user to focus on data. 

One of the most valuable features of Tableau is that it's a visual analytics solution, not just a dashboarding solution. Compared to Power BI, which is a dashboarding solution, there are no limitations with Tableau. For example, when you add a chart or a map to Power BI, it has a 3,000-point limitation. When you try to track your whole vehicle on the map, you only see the first 3,000 rows on the map, and Power BI doesn't tell you which part of the data is shown on the map. But Tableau doesn't have any limitations, which means that you can see five million data points on a map. It starts the project by creating the visuals that directly converts to SQLs. In that way, all the components have no limitations. 

When we compared Tableau to Power BI, we also found Tableau to be more fancy. Fancy means you can create more visual graphics and more visual dashboards. With Power BI, this isn't so—it's just some tables and some simple charts together. 

Tableau is more for business users who want to analyze data. Tableau can directly connect the analytics systems, like R or python, and get the results in screen, so it's a good solution for analytics scientists. It has some predefined capabilities to understand the data. 

Tableau's automatic insight could be improved. It has some predefined capabilities to understand the data, but I think they need more. Customers need more insight automatically from data—they don't want to discover them, they want to get the forecast automatically. 

The data preparation should also be improved because it's not easy. 

Tableau tries to focus on the business side, but the backend side has not improved much. They also have an ETS solution, but it's limited. 

I have been working with Tableau for four years. 

Tableau is stable, but the analytic tools don't distribute. You should subscribe in analytic prospectus. In that way, Power BI or Calique or Tableau uses subscription instead of publication, so if the user should ask something or should want to avail of something, they focus on a report and click on subscribe. In that way, they get the data, so the business case is changing a little. Old products, like Oracle BI or SAP BusinessObjects, have more publication features that these kinds of products don't have. I think Tableau's publication feature needs to be improved. 

Tableau is scalable. 

We also evaluated Power BI. We chose Tableau because it is a visual analytics solution, not just a dashboarding solution, so there are no limitations with Tableau. The second reason was because Tableau is more fancy—you can create more visual graphics and visual dashboards. However, Power BI has the advantage on the backend side. It has a huge cloud environment, but Tableau doesn't. 

I rate Tableau an eight out of ten. 

Tableau has a good site named publictableau.com. There are lots of examples and millions of Tableau dashboards already published there. You can download the dashboard and see what's behind it, to analyze it. It's a good chance to create different kinds of dashboards. 

To those considering using Tableau, I would also advise that they understand the infrastructure of Tableau. Tableau uses lots of big data technology inside their product: Elasticsearch, Red Cache, Amazon Apache, etc. I think there are more than 50 different big data technologies inside them. If they know their infrastructure, they should understand the big data technologies also. 

We are not resellers, we are developing in Tableau, and we are implementers.

It is very simple to use for the end-user. It is user-friendly.

It integrates well.

The interface is good.

It is very easy to implement and to use.

A strict security measure is needed. I believe it is weak in terms of security.

We have been using Tableau for three years.

Tableau is a stable solution.

The scalability is great.

We have ten users in our organization.

We are also experienced in using Oracle OBIEE. We have the same application ruling in both technologies.

We have no issues with the configuration.

We need two people to deploy and maintain the system.

The price could be improved.

Yes, I would recommend this solution to others who are considering using it.

I would rate Tableau, a nine out of ten.

Tableau can be helpful for BI reports and data dashboards. For example, say you are getting data from a few systems, and you want to see a consolidated report, like a management report or a transactional report. We use Tableau to build a dashboard using the data that we get.

I'm in a pre-sales role, so I don't have a lot of practical hands-on experience with Tableau, but there are experts in my company, and we've been using the solution for more than five years.  
We're consultants. If a customer wants to build a dashboard or run some custom reports using Tableau, we do the engineering part.

Performance-wise, Tableau is good but it could always be better. 

Since Tableau is on the cloud, we haven't faced any challenges around scalability. Since I'm not an engineer, I don't know if that scalability comes from the cloud infrastructure or Tableau itself. I can't rate it properly on that front.

The complexity of deploying Tableau generally depends on the size of the project. As far as I know, it takes two or three Tableau engineers for the bigger projects where we're using utilizing them to build a database. 

To clarify, I'm talking about the engineers building the custom solutions for our clients, not consuming them. To construct the Tableau reports or the database we use to generate the reports, we need two or three Tableau engineers and around the same number of database engineers to generate the data or write the scripts required for generating the reports.

I would rate Tableau seven out of 10. Other tools are more competitively priced, but I wouldn't give it a low rating because Tableau still provides the functionality our clients need. I would recommend it.
