What is our primary use case?
We use the solution for collaboration and storage. It has flexible plans starting from 1GB, 5GB, 2GB, and more. This is very useful in India, where space is a big concern for users and management. Lower-level users don't need as much space. It integrates well with other platforms like Outlook, and it has its own client, too.
What is most valuable?
The TeamChat feature has been really good for our email management. It lets us collaborate, share files, and invite guests like Google Spaces or Microsoft Teams. I like the two-factor authentication for security. However, they need to improve their document collaboration tools, as their Word, Excel, and PowerPoint features are basic compared to Microsoft and Google.
The solution has boosted our productivity. We use it like Slack—I can add and tag people, assign tasks, and get timely reports. We can share documents quickly and work on them together in real-time. This has made our communication more effective and saved us a lot of time.
What needs improvement?
The solution has traditional SSL integration, SAML, and Federation Services. In its latest version, it added SAML integration. However, it needs to work on API integration, especially for dashboards or integration with SAP for log and data system management. It doesn't yet have the kind of API that Google and Microsoft provide for synchronizing users with Active Directory.
I think IceWarp needs to improve in a few areas. They have two types of admin consoles - a web-based one and a remote one. I'd like to see these combined into a single web-based admin console. The log reading and information system also needs improvement. The current way of showing incoming and outgoing logs isn't very clear. For new users, it's hard to understand these logs, especially compared to Office 365 and other systems with easier-to-read logs. They should also add an export option to get all logs with a single click whenever we need them.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with the product for five to six years.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
My largest client has 32,000 uses. They have a plan of 1 GB. I've escalated questions to technical support. For example, my client, about 3,500 users on the IceWarp cloud, had issues with spam, simple authentication, and two-factor authentication. I've given feedback about logs and authentication on the spam infrastructure.
How are customer service and support?
In 2018-2020, I'd have rated them three or four out of ten, but they've hired new people and improved their skills.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Compared to other solutions like G Suite or Microsoft, IceWarp has pros and cons. IceWarp is doing well, but feature-wise, it's behind some competitors like Zoho. Their office suite is about 70-80% compatible with Office 365 or similar products. However, it lacks some features like macro support. Finding options they're used to can be difficult for new users switching from Microsoft Word.
How was the initial setup?
I don't find the initial setup of the IceWarp complex at all. As a system admin, I can install it on a Linux machine in 10-15 minutes. It's just a matter of installing MySQL, co-authoring, etc. It's pretty easy on Linux, even easier than on Windows. I don't face any real challenges during installation.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I don't see any challenges for the Indian market. For example, 1 GB is available for around 399 INR, and 2 GB for 499 INR. They offer a range of plans, from basic to professional and enterprise, with multiple features. IceWarp's aggressive pricing is competitive compared to other market solutions like Zoho and Microsoft. One significant advantage is that IceWarp does not impose user capping like Google and Microsoft, which allows for substantial cost savings and flexibility in user conversion.
What other advice do I have?
Recommending IceWarp to business users, especially top management like CEOs and CTOs, might be challenging. These users are accustomed to tools like Excel and Outlook, and transitioning to a new platform could be difficult. While blue-collar employees may adapt more easily, I wouldn't recommend it for top-line management due to the need for integration with their existing tools.
I rate the overall product a seven out of ten.
