What is our primary use case?
For instance, when it comes to installing a VPN client across our workstations, we used to do it manually for each of the one thousand workstations. However, with Lansweeper, we can now handle it remotely and automatically through system log-on.
Lansweeper simplifies tasks like conducting an inventory and identifying workstations lacking the VPN client. It allows us to create and deploy MSI installation packages efficiently. Additionally, when we need to uninstall tools like TeamViewer from all our clients, Lansweeper streamlines the process for us. What sets Lansweeper apart is its intelligence—it runs repairs only if the relevant application is detected on the machine. This intelligent approach makes it more efficient than other tools, like NetSuite Panel.
What is most valuable?
One valuable feature is the ability to monitor log-on times, providing insights into whether users are rebooting their machines as claimed. This is useful in scenarios where users may not be aware of the need to reboot for system optimization. Lansweeper helps verify such information by collecting log data. Another noteworthy feature is the capability to track CPU, memory, and network usage on workstations at intervals, say every thirty minutes. This allows me to assess the user's experience and validate their claims about resource consumption. For instance, if a user complains about high memory usage, Lansweeper enables me to verify the actual usage and address the issue accurately. This level of monitoring granularity is something I find particularly useful and haven't seen in many other tools.
What needs improvement?
The support experience hasn't been satisfactory. Establishing a direct connection with someone is challenging, as communication is limited to chat or forums through a web link. There's a lack of direct interaction with support personnel, making it difficult to have real-time conversations or seek immediate assistance, which is not ideal.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have using Lansweeper for the past 6 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
While Lansweeper generally works well and is user-friendly, I have experienced instances where pushing the server to its limits, such as requesting CPU usage data from numerous workstations within a short timeframe, has caused performance issues. The server tends to struggle under such heavy loads, leading to slowdowns or temporary service interruptions.
To mitigate this, I've found that extending the timeframe for such intensive tasks, like monitoring CPU usage, helps the server cope more effectively. It's worth noting that I haven't explored upgrading to more powerful hardware, but it could potentially enhance performance. Despite occasional limitations under heavy load, Lansweeper remains reliable and user-friendly in regular operations.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
While I find it easy to manage in my current context, I acknowledge that deploying Lansweeper on a larger scale, such as with five thousand computers globally located in different countries, might require additional consideration.
Lansweeper is designed to handle such scenarios, allowing for the deployment of multiple Lansweeper servers in various locations and centralizing the data on a MasterServer. While I haven't personally worked in such a large-scale environment, I believe Lansweeper is equipped to handle the needs of big companies with extensive global operations.
How are customer service and support?
While I haven't engaged in direct conversations with support personnel, they have been responsive to emails. If they connect to my server for remote assistance or VIP support, I'm generally satisfied with their service, contributing to the overall rating of eight.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We use Lansweeper for endpoint management at our organization. We actually have two solutions for this purpose. Lansweeper is great for security-related tasks like applying patches, making it integral for managing security issues. On the other hand, if you're looking for automation and user-friendly inventory management, Lansweeper stands out as the better option. Overall, they complement each other well.
How was the initial setup?
It seems that for me, it's manageable because of my experience, but for newcomers, especially with the transition to the cloud model, it can be a bit challenging. I personally prefer the traditional on-premise model, but there's a push towards the cloud, and it feels like users are being nudged in that direction, which may pose challenges, particularly for those who are new to the system. In my current scenario, I have users who don't log in every week, such as travelers who access the network once a month.
It takes about a month to fully deploy due to the nature of these users. With the new Active Directory, we implemented login scripts for both machines and users. Interestingly, with Lansweeper, we no longer require agents for the system to function. While the option to use agents is available, it's not mandatory, and users can access their accounts without them.
I manage the deployment process myself, and it's quite straightforward. We only need manual intervention for machines that are not connected to our domain or are outside our network. However, in my specific scenario, all machines are on the same network and domain, making the process fully automated. It's very efficient in this context.
What was our ROI?
Considering the automation provided by Lansweeper, I realize that without it, I would need someone else to handle the tasks I currently manage on my own. The application enables me to efficiently handle everything remotely, making it completely worthwhile.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is not high and it is fair according to the worth it offers.
What other advice do I have?
I really appreciate Lansweeper, and I believe it will continue to be valuable for me. Over the past six years, I've been using Lansweeper with three different companies, and I absolutely love it. It's an excellent tool that I find very effective.
Firstly, a prerequisite is a basic understanding and proficiency in English. Secondly, it's essential to recognize the need for an IT specialist, particularly one with active network and direct Microsoft experience. Lansweeper is suitable for individuals possessing such skills and expertise. However, for those without a background in networking and Microsoft, it may not be suitable.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
