Integration with third-party automation services has significantly boosted productivity.

What is most valuable?

The integration with third-party automation services such as IFTTT and Zapier has significantly boosted productivity.

We receive automatic notifications of certain business activities and planned events, instead of having to send out manual emails to disseminate that information.

How has it helped my organization?

It has encouraged more transparent communication, getting more staff members exposed to and involved in different areas of the business.

What needs improvement?

Many of the advanced features and integrations are built with developers in mind. More functionality and integration for other use cases would be welcome.

Slack integrates with bots that automate tasks and add functionality. A large portion of these bots do things specifically to help developers do their jobs, such as accessing code repositories and sharing code with colleagues.

It would be great if there were more bots and third-party integrations that targeted other groups of potential Slack users.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the solution for 18 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have had no major issues with downtime or with the apps crashing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are using the free version, which only keeps a limited number of messages archived. As our team has grown, we go through this archive allotment fairly quickly.

How are customer service and support?

We have not had to use technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The solution was very easy to set up. I created the team through the Slack web site, which automatically invited everyone else via email and instructed them to download the client apps.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The free version can do pretty much everything you need it to. You'll have to pay if you have a large team or if you have specific security and compliance requirements.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate any other products.

What other advice do I have?

Make a significant effort to get user buy-in right from the start.

If people see it as just another system, not a powerful email reducer and productivity booster, adoption will lag.

You really need everyone on the team to be on board for it to succeed. If even one person sticks to email-first communication, it makes everyone else rely more on email, which defeats the purpose of having Slack.

Tons of integrations and bots makes it unique.

How has it helped my organization?

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No.

It's fairly simple to get used to. Also, the cross platform experience between the web version, mobile and desktop apps is impressively smooth.

Valuable Features:

Having group chats and one-on-one chats in one place makes Slack conventient. It's fairly simple to get used to. Also, the cross platform experience between mobile app, desktop app, and web version is impressively smooth.

Improvements to My Organization:

More often than not, members of our team are on the go rather than in the office. With Slack we have increased communication between teams which has improved executions of complex interdepartmental procedures.

Room for Improvement:

There is some lag at times. Also, would prefer video chat functionality built in rather than as an add-on.

Use of Solution:

Two years.

Deployment Issues:

Nope. Only colleague resistance on certain teams.

Stability Issues:

A bit of lag as mentioned.

Customer Service:

Haven't experienced a customer support representative. Site help docs are fairly strong.

Initial Setup:

Extremely straightforward.

Other Solutions Considered:

Yes. We tried Skype, Viber, Gchat.

Other Advice:

There is a built-in cuteness factor with animated gif options as commentary.

Used to communicate within the team and with other people outside the company
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution's most valuable feature is the search functionality, which I can use to search for full text."
  • "The solution’s initial setup is not very easy."

What is our primary use case?

We used the solution to communicate within the team and with other people outside the company. We only used the solution for chatting.

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable feature is the search functionality, which I can use to search for full text.

What needs improvement?

The solution’s initial setup is not very easy.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Slack for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution has a very high stability.

I rate the solution’s stability ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Around 40 people used the solution in my organization.

I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used Microsoft Teams.

How was the initial setup?

You need an administrator and must create a team to implement the solution, which is far too much to do.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup a three out of ten.

What was our ROI?

The solution has increased our productivity.

What other advice do I have?

I used the latest version of Slack. It was easy to transfer files over Slack. We used it to send gifts or messages related to the job.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

A chat tool that large groups can use, but with a need to improve its interface
Pros and Cons
  • "In terms of setup, approaching its menu is simple."
  • "Slack's interface is not simple for me. It's not a user-friendly interface"

What is our primary use case?

I use it if I want to search for information from Kubernetes communities, and then I chat with someone who already has knowledge or knows about Kubernetes. I use it to talk to people using other software like Kubernetes.

What is most valuable?

It is a really trendy tool for uploading information with cutting-edge technology. I can browse all the information to find what I want to really know.

What needs improvement?

In comparison to Teams or other tools, Slack's interface is not simple for me. It's not a user-friendly interface.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Slack for almost three months. I am using its cloud version. I just downloaded it from the internet as a third-party solution or software. I am a user of the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The engineers in their department use Slack. Around 50 engineers use Slack.

How was the initial setup?

In terms of setup, approaching its menu is simple. However, when I went to click and change the account, I was confused regarding whether it was proceeding or not.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is an expensive tool. We pay 15 to 20 USD monthly per user.

What other advice do I have?

I suggest those planning to use Slack to get another social network software such as Teams or Chanty, a tool used in South Korea, are very good. I think Chanty is used in South Korea, especially in the IT sector of Korea.

I rate the overall solution a six out of ten.

Effective integration with applications and easy communication with team members through messaging and calls
Pros and Cons
  • "One thing I like about Slack is the ability to change the color of Slack. It depends on my mood. When I'm having a bright day, I just change the background color of my Slack, which is nice."
  • "We do experience issues when trying to log in on Slack."

What is most valuable?

One thing I like about Slack is the ability to change the color of Slack. It depends on my mood. When I'm having a bright day, I just change the background color of my Slack, which is nice. Then, I need to spend on the mode.

Another thing I love is that you can create different teams on Slack, and you have to give each team a legal name and use an icon. The icons on Slack are beautiful. I especially like the variety of icons available on PeerSpot. Another aspect of Slack is the ability to edit your profile picture. It's a visual icon that you can personalize. Yes, you can bring in your own picture and set it as your profile picture. It's a nice feature.

Also, when it comes to emails, you can navigate your email through Slack. If you have an incoming email, Slack will notify you.

If you have an upcoming meeting, Slack will notify you, or it can notify you about your meetings. I like that feature. Additionally, you can connect other applications like Asana and Trello to Slack. That's how you integrate all those applications into Slack. Then there's SMAX. I've used SMAX before.

If you want to communicate with your team without using Google or Google Meet, all you need to do is send them a message on Slack. You can hold a call with them. The network usage of Slack is super cool compared to using Google. The networking aspect of Slack is excellent. Also, my friend mentioned that if you want to organize your day-to-day activities, you can create schedules within Slack.

What needs improvement?

Occasionally, we do experience network issues when trying to log in on Slack. However, I believe it's only happened once. It's not a recurring problem.

For how long have I used the solution?

.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Slack is a stable solution. I have only experienced one network issue so far, but apart from that, I haven't faced any other problems.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

It is super easy to navigate on Slack. So, the initial setup is easy.

What other advice do I have?

One thing I appreciate about Slack is that when there's new information or a request from Excel, based on your settings, a notification pops up and informs you that a new update has been added to the team. It's called "Wish It," and it's really helpful for my work. I love that feature.

Additionally, if you need to save any important information, you can easily do so. Even if you accidentally close the app, the information is still there, which is really cool. Personally, if I were to rate it, I would give Slack a solid ten out of ten. Initially, when I logged into my system, I received notifications for all the information and feedback from the team I needed to access. It automatically directs me to what I need to see.

I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the application, especially its features. Personally, I haven't explored all the features, but some of my friends have, and they highly recommend them. Slack has a lot of useful information and features that you can benefit from. Additionally, you can even create side calls or group calls for your team, like after a game or after work, which is super fun.

Organized communication with categorized channels and content sharing
Pros and Cons
  • "Slack's categorization of content and the availability of channels are highly valuable, as they keep communications organized."
  • "Slack's Canvas feature could be improved in terms of its user experience."

What is our primary use case?

We mainly use Slack as a communication channel. Additionally, we use it for remote working and voice meetings through Slack Connect.

How has it helped my organization?

Using Slack has significantly improved our internal communications, helping avoid personal and work communications being mixed. With Slack, we have categorized channels that help in maintaining clarity in communication.

What is most valuable?

Slack's categorization of content and the availability of channels are highly valuable, as they keep communications organized.

We also use Slack's features for brief ideation, sharing content onto Notion for comprehensive documentation. We are really satisfied with Slack, having used it since my first company for about five years.

What needs improvement?

Slack's Canvas feature could be improved in terms of its user experience. While they are trying to integrate something like Notion, it doesn't work well, which is why we still use Notion for official documentation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Slack for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Slack has been very reliable, with server issues occurring only once or twice a year.

How are customer service and support?

We have never contacted Slack support since we haven't had any issues.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before using Slack professionally, we used platforms like KakaoTalk, which mixed work and personal communications and lacked a clear system for organizing conversations.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was straightforward as we simply use Slack as a communication channel.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is reasonable. While cheaper would be better, we are generally satisfied with the current pricing model.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Discord is more customizable than Slack but is also more complicated and suited more for casual or club environments rather than professional company use.

What other advice do I have?

If your organization needs a fixed number of participants and an organized communication structure, Slack should be adopted instead of a messaging app. People who have used competitors like Microsoft Teams often prefer Slack.

I rate Slack ten out of ten, as I've never considered replacing it.
