What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We have not experienced any problems with stability. We use it maybe once a week to contact one of our suppliers.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
As a user, I have not had problems with scalability. I am part of a small group that makes use of slack but that doesn't mean that it isn't widely used in the company.
How are customer service and support?
I have not been in contact with technical support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

A good solution for communication and file sharing, but it should add a feature to schedule meetings
Pros and Cons
- "The huddle feature that allows you to get on a call with a colleague is one of the best features of Slack."
- "Slack should add a feature to schedule meetings."
What is our primary use case?
We use Slack for communication, file sharing, meetings, text messages, etc. Slack has been so helpful for us.
How has it helped my organization?
Slack has made communication much easier in our company. I can text someone in the company or send a message. I can also have an audio call with a couple of team members on the go without needing to start setting up calls on Zoom or Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams. I can have that voice or video call right away on Slack.
What is most valuable?
The huddle feature that allows you to get on a call with a colleague is one of the best features of Slack. You can call someone on the go with the huddle feature and save the time of having to set up Zoom calls or Google Meet.
What needs improvement?
Slack should add a feature to schedule meetings. Users should get notifications or prompts regarding the meeting time so they can attend that meeting.
Sometimes, when Slack is down, there is a delay in messages being delivered. Such delays also need to be improved in Slack.

Software Engineer at a computer software company with 1-10 employees
A scalable and easy-to-deploy solution that enables seamless communication within the organization
Pros and Cons
- "The product makes communication seamless."
- "The UI could be a little bit better."
How has it helped my organization?
The product makes communication seamless. There are around 200 employees in my organization. If the HR personnel want to reach us, they use the channels to put up messages, posters, and banners for workplace events or blood donation drives. They use the channels whenever they want to spread information about anything.
What is most valuable?
Slack is a really good solution. We can see whether our colleagues are available or away. If we need to share any information within our team, we can create a channel and share the information. We can share technical and non-technical information like, HR information using the product. Information sharing is the feature I like the most. The product allows us to update our status to communicate whether we are away or out for lunch. We can also make notes to ourselves using the solution. It functions quite well.
What needs improvement?
The UI could be a little bit better.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution consistently for the last year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The tool is stable. Many employees in the organization are happy to use the product.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable. As more and more people join the organization, they are able to use the tool.

The initial setup was easy. The solution is deployed on the cloud.
What other advice do I have?
I work from home. I do not use the on-premises product. If people use it consistently, they will understand how to use it and communicate with their teams properly. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
Product Development Manager at a tech services company with 11-50 employees
The product enables efficient communication and collaboration, but it crashes when used on the desktop
Pros and Cons
- "Slack provides very fast communication."
- "The product crashes when I use it on the desktop."
What is our primary use case?
We use the product in the office for communication. It's our main channel for any communication.
What is most valuable?
Slack provides very fast communication. The communication is sent directly to me, so I do not miss out on anything. The product provides various channels to communicate. A channel is like a team, where all communication regarding a team is sent. The product gives the flexibility of having many channels. Communication is isolated and sent to the right person at the right time. Slack has a voice messaging feature.
What needs improvement?
The product crashes when I use it on the desktop. The product must improve user experience. It would be quite interesting if Slack works with Microsoft Teams.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The product crashes sometimes. I've never understood what the problem is. It happens intermittently. I don't know what really makes it crash, but it happens once in a very long time.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable. We are a huge team. We’re about 40 people. All of us use it seamlessly. It achieves our objective as a small team.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
In 2006, we used IP Messenger. It worked the same way but could be used only in the office. We didn't have any visibility of the communication outside the office. It did not have channels. It had many drawbacks, and Slack solved a lot of those problems.
How was the initial setup?
The solution is quite easy to set up. Anyone can easily set up the product, whether senior employees, junior employees, or professionals.
What other advice do I have?
I use Slack on my desktop. I have it on my phone too. All communications reach me as soon as they are sent, whether I’m in the office or outside. I don't look at the product for improvement. I appreciate what the product is doing. I'm not an administrator. I am a typical user. I joined the Slack channel because I was invited. I have access to Slack as a user, not as an administrator. I used IP Messenger as a software developer for a medium-sized organization in Kenya. We could share files. We could send text messages and all of it. We couldn’t use IP Messenger outside the office. It did not have channels.
For people who need constant communication and don’t want to rely on emails, Slack is the right tool for them. We can work on the mobile phone to communicate on the go. As long as we have internet connectivity, it is secure. We can create as many channels as we like and collaborate. We can also do voice calls and send voice notes. Overall, I rate the product a seven out of ten.
