Unlike other products, it has a native OCR tool, it provides an end-to-end solution that covers everything
Pros and Cons
  • "I like UiPath's Document Understanding and OCR functions. That's UiPath's advantage. It has a native OCR tool, whereas other tools do not, so it provides an end-to-end solution that covers everything. We do not need to integrate other applications."
  • "I would like UiPath to add built-in ticketing to Orchestrator so you can raise a ticket directly to the vendor inside the solution and send the error information. We have to build our own error-handling process, which is an enormous task."

What is our primary use case?

In my last company, we focused on Document Understanding. We received medical claim forms through Outlook and extracted the data from them. That is one use case. At my current company, I'm doing SAP automation.

How has it helped my organization?

My organization has automated around 200 daily processes that were previously manual. Some things that may have taken weeks in the past can be completed in a few hours. UiPath has reduced the costs of digital transformation and improved our productivity because the processes can continue running over the weekend when no one is in the office.

What is most valuable?

I like UiPath's Document Understanding and OCR functions. That's UiPath's advantage. It has a native OCR tool, whereas other tools do not, so it provides an end-to-end solution that covers everything. We do not need to integrate other applications.

It's effortless to build automations in UiPath. Anyone can learn it because it has a drag-and-drop interface. We only use about 10 percent coding. It's easy to understand. The UiPath Academy is also available for anyone who wants to learn the solution. The academy courses are free, and you can get a certification. Anyone can take advantage of it.

What needs improvement?

I would like UiPath to add built-in ticketing to Orchestrator so you can raise a ticket directly to the vendor inside the solution and send the error information. We have to build our own error-handling process, which is an enormous task.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used UiPath for a little more than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is mostly stable, but we have encountered an issue after an update where a process created under a previous version may fail, so we need to update the bot.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath's scalability is excellent because we are automating processes in India and other countries. We have already automated more than 200.

How are customer service and support?

I rate UiPath support eight out of 10.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Automation Anywhere and Power Automate. UiPath has an advantage over other tools because it can perform end-to-end automation and cover more activities.

How was the initial setup?

Deploying UiPath is straightforward. One person is enough to deploy the solution, but I may need to contact the solution architect if I need access to something. We deploy to multiple locations because we are a multinational company, but we are not providing services to any other company. We have our internal clients, including stakeholders in Denmark, Norway, and some other countries.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath nine out of 10. UiPath is better than other competing technologies.

A coding-free and user-friendly tool that provides optimization, accuracy, and a three-fourth reduction in working time
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of UiPath are Excel automation and web portal automation."
  • "There is a lot of complexity in the things we can do in UiPath, like connecting to an organization's databases or using APIs in the process."

What is our primary use case?

My previous company was a share market or brokerage company, and we used UiPath for the client's reports. We used automation to get the records of their clients and get their financial reports in the desired manner. We go to the company database, get the proper data of the clients, and arrange it in the desired manner of our company's officers or the manager for the back office or the accounting department.

We arrange the data in a particular manner. We give it to them so that they can analyze and get the record for themselves, analyze their market reports, and get the desired result. We use automation to get the data in the Excel database so they can use that data in a particular manner for the future aspect of the company's client.

My current organization is a service-based company. Our client is a US-based company that manages the insurance portal of the US. They arrange the insurance portal for their US insurance client. We go to their particular portal and automate it, get the desired data, and save it to the database of the client's company.

Firstly, we used Excel for database use. We are currently managing SharePoint using UiPath and arranging the data on SharePoint, where all the clients can access their data and save the record on their own.

How has it helped my organization?

In my previous organization, one process took a person two to three hours to complete. With automation, that process could be done in only 15 minutes. Two to three hours of hard work could be utilized with another process, and the person is free from that particular complex process. In my current organization, the user needs to log into every portal, get the details, and arrange data in a particular manner.

It took almost four to five hours to get all the insurance details and fill up in a particular manner. This process is now done through automation within one hour or half an hour so that the person can utilize that time with other work. UiPath automation provides optimization, accuracy, and a three-fourth reduction in working time. Compared to other tools, UiPath automation immensely helps a person or an organization.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of UiPath are Excel automation and web portal automation. There are many complex details and works in Excel that the operation department does manually. They arrange the data in formulas or in a particular manner. Through automation, Excel work is done very smoothly.

After that, we can arrange the data and save it in the desired manner. When using the web portal, the manual person needs to go to the portal and get the desired information. With UiPath, a lot of work has been done through automation so we can get accurate data in the desired manner.

What needs improvement?

UiPath is a user-friendly tool compared to other automation tools. UiPath can be made easier to learn. There is a lot of complexity in the things we can do in UiPath, like connecting to an organization's databases or using APIs in the process. We are now using SharePoint. There can be more simpler things to connect with SharePoint. We have to go to the SharePoint website, get the client ID or the user ID, put it on UiPath, and then connect every time we start the process. So, there are a lot of things that can be simplified.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for more than three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is much easier to use. Stability-wise, the solution has a lot of scope because there are many complex things in other tools. UiPath is a stable solution.

What about the implementation team?

I was involved in the solution's deployment. We had some difficulties at the start of the deployment process. Firstly, we deploy our code on the UiPath orchestrator. But there is a lot of complexity to organize that orchestrator through our organization. We found the solution by deploying our codes on our own Windows server and running it through them.

At first, we did all the R&D on deploying the code ourselves. Then, the DevOps team came in, and they did the rest.

It doesn't need a lot of people to deploy because it is easier to do once you understand the deployment.

What other advice do I have?

We are using on-premises servers to deploy our codes on UiPath. We are using our own server to deploy the code for automation.

Not much maintenance is required for the solution from our end. We deploy the code on the server, and the process runs smoothly after the deployment. However, if there is a change in the process, website, or the way in which we get data, we need to make necessary changes to get the data in a particular manner.

Although I am an engineering person, I was out of touch with technology for eight years. However, I didn't need proper experience to use UiPath because UiPath is a coding-free platform. We can learn UiPath even if we don't know coding. It can be difficult if any nontechnical person wants to learn UiPath, but they can properly understand the UiPath. Other automation tools like Automation Anywhere or Blue Prism are complex tools. But UiPath is the most user-friendly tool for automation.

One process in my previous organization took two or three hours to complete. A person needs to sit at the table and do what's needed for two or three hours, which is a complex process. Once automation was introduced in our company, the process was done in only 15 minutes with accurate data and reports arranged in the desired manner. People don't need to sit at the table for two or three hours; they can be utilized for other things.

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation. In my current organization, I use web portal automation to log into a particular website or portal page and deliver the data to a person who can share the data with higher management. There's no need for human effort to arrange the data for that particular person.

There's a UiPath forum where people can go and ask questions. They connect you with the proper answers as much as possible and give you the proper solution to your problem. Communication with UiPath's user community is much easier.

I've done the foundation course from UiPath Academy, and I'm currently pursuing the advanced certification from UiPath Academy. UiPath Academy courses have benefited me a lot. I was out of touch with technical things, and UiPath was almost a new thing for me. I learned a lot of things through UiPath Academy. It helped me a lot because I learned many things from there and implemented them in the processes.

We are not currently using UiPath's AI functionality, but we are considering using it in the next one or two months.

UiPath has greatly helped reduce human error because UiPath performs the processes accurately. A lot of complex operations are performed on Excel. Through UiPath automation, all the permutations and combinations are applied, and we get accurate results.

UiPath automation has saved us a lot of time because the process takes almost half the time to get things done.

Overall, I rate UiPath an eight out of ten.

The data extraction is good and it saves time and money
Pros and Cons
  • "The document extraction or document understanding feature of UiPath is valuable. It basically extracts data from the PDF."
  • "While working on Excel and PDF, there should be a feature to define which content to extract and which table to extract from a document. It should extract only that. There should be a possibility to ignore everything else. I should be able to show one sample for one page, the second sample for the second page, or one sample for all pages. I would love to see such functionality in UiPath."

What is our primary use case?

We do regular process automation for web applications and Excel. In one use case, we have a web application, and we need to scrape data and update it in a specified format in a spreadsheet and then upload it into another application. This is the use case on which I am currently working. There is another use case where I extract data from a web application and add the data into another web application, input the data into my Jira using APIs, or directly insert the records into a database.

We do not use UiPath to automate processes that deal with a "good cause" that our company is involved in. We are automating internal processes for the project engagement we have with our customers. We have general developer access. We do not do process mining, but we use UiPath Task Capture.

How has it helped my organization?

It is easy to build automations using UiPath. Previously, we had to write lots of code and handle any changes or errors. All those things are now just a checkbox away for us. It is very easy. It saves a lot of our time. There is also consistency. When there is code failure, I can select the retry option, and it will retry for the specified number of times. That is a great feature.

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation. It saves a lot of time and eventually, it saves money. Those are the benefits that we are seeing. The process that used to take a day can now be completed every morning within an hour. Similarly, a process that used to take an individual five to six business days now takes one and a half hours. We have better accuracy and more confidence that nothing has gone wrong. These time savings always get converted to money. People are able to focus on other things, which has an impact on money savings.

UiPath has helped to minimize our on-premises footprint. When I try to run my scripts that are somewhere on a remote desktop and are not accessible because of some issue, all my processes are on hold, whereas I do not find that problem with the cloud. I can log in anytime even from my mobile and then trigger a process from Orchestrator. That is a great thing to have.

UiPath speeds up digital transformation and reduces the cost of digital transformation, but this happens over a period of time. It takes at least six months to one year to see these benefits.

UiPath has reduced human error. There were a lot of exceptions that we had in the application. All the exceptions should have been extracted from the application and assigned to the respective team. When we started automation and extracted all the exceptions, we could see hundreds of exceptions. Some of them were even 300 days old. They were not attended by anyone. All such things were uncovered by UiPath.

UiPath has freed up employee time. In one case, it reduced their time from a day to an hour. In another case, it was reduced from 40 hours to 2 hours.

What is most valuable?

The document extraction or document understanding feature of UiPath is valuable. It extracts data from the PDF.

If I have any technical challenges or I am not able to proceed because I do not have the expertise to use a feature, I browse through the UiPath community. There are usually a lot of people who have faced similar challenges. There are also multiple answers or workarounds. I try them out, and they usually work for me. This way the UiPath Community has been very helpful. The community of Power Automate is also very helpful.

A lot of my team is currently using the UiPath Academy. The biggest benefit is that I do not have to train them on anything. I tell them the courses they need to complete, and after they complete a course, they show me how they have done that assessment. We try to understand the process they followed to complete that assessment. It is part of their academic certification. It is a great feature. It saves time that I would have had to spend on teaching my teammates. It allows them to learn at their own pace. Not everyone is in the same place. There are people who can go fast. Every individual can proceed at their pace. They do not have any dependency on others.

What needs improvement?

While working on Excel and PDF, there should be a feature to define which content to extract and which table to extract from a document. It should extract only that. There should be a possibility to ignore everything else. I should be able to show one sample for one page, the second sample for the second page, or one sample for all pages. I would love to see such functionality in UiPath.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for almost a year now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable. It is 100% stable. I am very confident of its stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. It is able to increase its capacity and functionality based on our demands. Whatever use cases we are getting, we are able to implement them with UiPath. We are seeing a lot of features for which we have not even found the use cases. They are ahead of the market needs.

We have only two developer licenses, and we have four bots. Apart from that, we have four virtual machines in which these bots are deployed. We have one admin from the IT team who owns the controller.

We have plans to increase the usage of UiPath. We are proposing UiPath for all upcoming projects.

How are customer service and support?

I have not reached out to them for anything since we got the license because we got all the support from UiPath forums, UiPath documentation, and UiPath Academy.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use any other solution before UiPath, but after I started to work with UiPath, I also started to work with Power Automate. A lot of AI features that are available in UiPath are not available in Power Automate.

We recommend a solution depending on the process that a customer wants to automate. Depending on their requirement and business criticality, we suggest a tool. We cannot say only one solution is the best. If someone wants to automate only one or two web applications and Excel, Power Automate is good enough to do that. They do not have to go to UiPath. If they have a complicated process that requires implementing an AI model, the UiPath is good. It depends on the case.

How was the initial setup?

We were not very experienced in the implementation. We spent two to three hours a day, and we were able to do it in two or three days. That is a good amount. We did not have to spend too much time.

For implementation, we first had to go through all the prerequisites for installing the developer tool and deploying a bot. We had to understand these things, do the infrastructure setup, and then deploy it. The deployment did not take a lot of time. Meeting the prerequisites took 50% of the time.

UiPath does not require any maintenance. It is only our scripts that will need maintenance for any changes.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented it ourselves. We had one person doing all the setup and installation, and we had two people helping him wherever required.

What was our ROI?

We have seen almost 70% to 80% ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Before we procured the license, the pricing they quoted was too high. We continued to negotiate for almost a month. This is something they can improve from their side. If they had quoted the right price, we would not have had to negotiate. We got more than a 50% reduction in the price, which is bad on their part.

What other advice do I have?

To those evaluating UiPath, I would advise first understanding their needs and the features that the tool is providing. They also do not need any external training to implement UiPath. Their identified resources can just go through the UiPath Academy and reduce their implementation costs or training costs unless they have a very complicated process to implement.

I would rate UiPath an eight out of ten.

Eliminates human errors by consistently processing 100 percent of the tasks each time without requiring any human intervention
Pros and Cons
  • "UiPath's most valuable feature is its ability to view and extract any data throughout the entire development process in the automation framework."
  • "The document understanding has room for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

I am a developer, and I use UiPath to extract PDFs for invoices and logistics in the banking industry.

UiPath can be deployed either on-premises or in the cloud, depending on the customer's requirements.

How has it helped my organization?

There are times when the logic is difficult, but the majority of the time, it is easy to build automation using UiPath.

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation, which is essential for our customers. We gather all the requirements from the customer, analyze their feasibility, and proceed to the development phase where we build bots according to the customer's needs. After that, we move on to User Acceptance Testing to ensure the bots meet expectations. Finally, we deploy the automation into production.

UiPath aids in enhancing organizations by cutting down costs and saving time. Without UiPath, a task like collecting and uploading information that typically takes humans around 40 minutes can be completed by the UiPath bot in just ten minutes.

Our customers primarily use UiPath for cost savings.

In addition to saving time, UiPath also eliminates human errors by consistently processing 100 percent of the tasks each time without requiring any human intervention.

UiPath helps reduce our customer's on-premises footprint.

UiPath Academy is excellent for learning about the solution's capabilities and how it works, especially in the beginning. It provides end-to-end courses and certifications for both beginners and advanced users.

UiPath accelerates digital transformation and reduces costs by eliminating the human element. However, this transformation does require IT application support for configurations and security.

What is most valuable?

UiPath's most valuable feature is its ability to view and extract any data throughout the entire development process in the automation framework.

What needs improvement?

The document understanding has room for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is extremely stable and that is why customers ask for the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate UiPath's scalability a nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Microsoft Power Automate. When comparing it with UiPath, one significant difference is that we can use UiPath on a local machine to easily build a process, upload it, and create schedules effortlessly. Microsoft has an advantage in the cloud, but it is not as effective on-premises.

How was the initial setup?

The number of people required for each deployment depends on the complexity of each project. For more complex projects, two to three people are required, and it can take up to three weeks to complete.

What was our ROI?

Our customers experience a return on investment when using UiPath, owing to the time saved in performing tasks and the improved accuracy compared to manual efforts.

We can start to see value after one month of using UiPath.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are two versions of UiPath; the first is the free community version, which is limited, and the second is the premium version which requires payment but is recommended for large-scale productions.

UiPath's cost is acceptable.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate UiPath a nine out of ten. UiPath is reliable and accurate.

The maintenance is easy. We only need one person to monitor and maintain UiPath.

I recommend trying the free community version first to ensure that it meets the organization's requirements and then consider upgrading to the premium version in order to handle larger projects.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Low-code solution provides scraping for data extraction, and Document Understanding for scanned documents
Pros and Cons
  • "The scraping for data extraction is very important. There is also a connection with all Microsoft tools, like Outlook, Excel, Word, et cetera. And OCR, the Document Understanding feature, is important because we have clients that ask us to read data from scanned documents."
  • "We have the new license, the Flex Plan with Automation Suite, but we don't have practical examples and we have found it a little bit difficult when dealing with it. We could use more specifications about it and practical examples."

What is our primary use case?

I create robots for clients of our company. We have an insurance client that asked us to help with sending letters by email and extracting documents related to insurance, between their insurance agencies.

We also do e-signatures using an API with a server to get digital signatures for all the customers of a bank. And with other banks, we have worked on onboarding clients. We have all the information about them and we do subscriptions for them.

We also have a lot of clients that ask for filters and updates in Excel files.

How has it helped my organization?

Employees who were doing the same tasks every day are happy to have time to do innovative things and stop doing tasks that a robot can do. They feel free from those unwanted tasks. These kinds of tasks are often boring, and employees can make mistakes. They spend a lot of time doing them without any benefit, because it's something they do every day. There is no innovation when they have to do those tasks. The most important part is that we can help employees in these situations.

The benefits include managing employees' time. A robot can work at night or even on the weekend, whenever you schedule it to run. It's helpful because employees can let it do their jobs when they are at home. There are also fewer errors because when you give a robot a formula, it does all the iterations in the same way. Even if there is a special situation or an exception, the robot can help itself get through it. So it helps with an employee's time and efficiency, and they are happy about that.

There are two kinds of robots that we deliver. One type of robot works independently, giving our client's employees time while the robot does its work. And there are other robots that do work but need a human to verify things. But even that type of robot reduces the work, leaving only the validation.

And when we start discussing RPA with a client, we can see the difference in the costs. We ask them how much they spend on a task or how much time it takes, because even hours have a cost. We then give them the difference. If a robot does that task, it will spend X amount of time on it and you will save this much money. It depends on the project, but sometimes we save them 30 or 40 percent of their time or even more.

What is most valuable?

The scraping for data extraction is very important. There is also a connection with all Microsoft tools, like Outlook, Excel, Word, et cetera. And OCR, the Document Understanding feature, is important because we have clients that ask us to read data from scanned documents.

UiPath Orchestrator is also important to help us schedule our bots.

In addition, UiPath is a low-code solution, which is very useful and helpful. Given the features and solutions it offers, it's quite easy. The ease is a seven out of 10, or even more. The challenge for us is connected to the demands of the client. Sometimes we work with banks, sometimes with insurance companies, and the challenge is to know what they really require before we start developing. We need to know the exceptions that we might face. But the development part is quite easy thanks to the UiPath Academy and the forum. It's not that hard.

We can even teach our clients a little bit about the use of the UiPath. It's easy and doesn't require an IT engineer. They get excited to use it.

I started my use of UiPath with the UiPath Academy and I'm still learning there because there are updates and new features to learn about. The Academy is very helpful with its videos and explanations, and with the questions at the end of the lessons. I like that it allows me to learn on my own time. It's very constructive because things are explained well and I like that I don't have to be at a school to learn it.

Also, the UiPath community is very good. Anytime I have a problem, or something blocks me, I post a question on the forum and people spend a lot of time helping me. Even if the first solution doesn't work, they come up with another one. When I started working with UiPath, there were only a few people who knew the platform and I had to wait days and days to get an answer, and sometimes I wouldn't get one. But over time, I feel the difference because there are more people in the community and they are more responsive and very helpful.

What needs improvement?

We have the new license, the Flex Plan with Automation Suite, but we don't have practical examples and we have found it a little bit difficult when dealing with it. We could use more specifications about it and practical examples. Sometimes clients ask us questions, but, even on the UiPath forums,  we don't have answers. We have to spend a lot of time trying to find them. Practical responses about installations and the differences between the kinds of installations would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with UiPath for almost three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very stable. I haven't faced a problem with UiPath Studio. I would give it a 10 out of 10 for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable. I would rate it a nine out of 10 on this aspect.

How are customer service and support?

I have needed their help too many times but they have been so helpful. They respond with emails, and sometimes I even talk with them on Google Meet. They are responsive.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

We have worked with UiPath on-premises, on Azure, and on a private cloud. That's where we use it the most. An on-premises setup is easy to do, and on a private cloud, it's not complicated. But with the Automation Suite, it is complicated and we asked UiPath to help us.

When we deploy it for our customers, we ask them to prepare the production environment for us so that it is already ready. For deployment, we have an architecture and an infrastructure engineer. Sometimes we need the infrastructure engineer if something is complicated about the infrastructure. We work with the IT department of the client and our infrastructure engineer.

For unassisted robots, we take the robot from the development machine or the test machine to the deployment machine. For clients using Orchestrator, we create the robot, the job, and we execute the robots from Orchestrator.

Maintaining UiPath is not difficult. One engineer can handle it, for now.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did some research on Power Automate, but I haven't worked with it. I only saw the interface and some examples. We are planning to learn more about Power Automate and the differences between it and UiPath, but for now, we are only working with you UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

My advice is to use the UiPath Academy and do some practical exercises. And when working with your client, ask all the questions that you have, including exceptions and real cases. Technically, everything is good. Just attend the Academy and use the forums and everything will be okay.

Enables us to do complex end-to-end automation for multiple systems
Pros and Cons
  • "UiPath has helped us with compliance-related tasks. These tasks involve reviewing various systems and taking screenshots to get proof of compliance. It's a costly process that can be mostly automated. The employee doesn't need to collect all the proofs; they just have to check if they are correct. For example, they must verify that the referenced time stamp is correct."
  • "UiPath could gain a lot more customers if they lowered the price a little and improved the license model with some more affordable tiers."

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath to automate back-office tasks.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath helped us with compliance-related tasks. These tasks involve reviewing various systems and taking screenshots to get proof of compliance. It's a costly process that can be mostly automated. The employee doesn't need to collect all the proofs; they just have to check if they are correct. For example, they must verify that the referenced time stamp is correct.

They can focus on quality instead of doing all of the manual work, which requires a lot of time and effort from the specialist doing that auditing job. Automation frees up the auditor to do more critical tasks. A bot can handle repetitive, menial jobs.

If you have some tasks that must be done at the start of the day, you can configure the bot to run first thing in the morning to retrieve all the details you need. You can get the report and start working on it. It's hard to estimate how much time it frees up because it varies from client to client, but if you plan well and use UiPath strategically, it can cut the time in half.

UiPath enables us to do complex end-to-end automation for multiple systems. Some of our automated processes take input from the ERM software and enter data into various applications. UiPath can sit and listen to any SAP solution, depending on the requirements, and report to the business user, who can validate it.

The user community is amazing. UiPath put a lot of effort into fostering a community, and now it is so mature that we can find a solution for 90 percent of our problems in the forum.

UiPath has a small physical footprint. It's not like a typical enterprise application that requires multiple servers. You can run various automations on a field workstation. Numerous processes can be automated on a single machine.

The UiPath Academy courses are helpful. It's a great way to learn queries and new techniques. I got my initial training from UiPath Academy, and we use it to onboard junior staff fresh out of college. We first direct them to the UiPath courses and follow up with one-on-one training.

UiPath reduces the cost of digital transformation. For example, you can automate the process of extracting information from devices. If you aren't confident that the automation is accurate, send it to a human staffer to verify and make corrections. You can put a human in the loop if necessary. It may still require some labor, but it takes much of the burden off your employees.

It reduces human error if you have fool-proof automation developed. If you have good rules that fit, it works smoothly without any help. With the proper ruleset, you can eliminate errors 100 percent.

What is most valuable?

UiPath is a complete RPA product suite with machine learning packages and out-of-the-box processes. I'm a developer, so I primarily interact with UiPath Studio. It has a large set of activities ready to use, reducing the time we spend developing bots. The Orchestrator interface is thoughtful and easy to use. In Orchestrator, you can deploy processes and choose from various triggering options.

Building simple automations is easy if you have a little technical knowledge. It takes more expertise to create complex automations. UiPath has a different product line for non-technical users, but it has some limitations.

The more advanced developers use UiPath Studio, which allows you to enrich processes with Python and JavaScript. From a developer's perspective, it's almost a perfect 10.

What needs improvement?

UiPath could gain a lot more customers if they lowered the price a little and improved the license model with some more affordable tiers.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for nearly six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

A few years ago, UiPath wasn't stable, but it matured a lot since then.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath has built-in features that help you scale your automation, and you can deploy automation on multiple machines simultaneously.

How are customer service and support?

I rate UiPath support a nine out of ten. Their support is decent. I get a fast response when I have questions. I haven't had any issues with them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Blue Prism and Automation Anywhere for learning purposes. UiPath is easier to use and has a more extensive user community. UiPath's constant improvement is outpacing other platforms.

How was the initial setup?

Deploying UiPath is straightforward. It requires some maintenance in terms of modifying and updating your existing processes. You can reduce the overhead maintenance if you have a good developer interface in place. The maintenance is minimal compared to the benefits.

What was our ROI?

A good consultant can help you implement automation and maximize your returns. Automation implementation can range from fifteen days to six months. You'll see a return in as little as one month. For that to happen, you need to implement it strategically. We see a 10-20 percent return, depending on the process.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

We have reduced invoice processing time from days to 30 minutes, and it's done more accurately
Pros and Cons
  • "What we like about the product is that we are able to customize a lot of things quickly because UiPath already has certain APIs and tools available that we can integrate with our system to extract information."
  • "The support is a little bit lacking, response-wise. Just like in banking, where they give you a relationship manager, they should provide someone who is responsible for a project. That person would be responsible for responding to your queries quickly and efficiently."

What is our primary use case?

We are using it to extract information from invoices. We have different types of invoices from about 180 vendors and we need to automate extraction from about 6,000 invoices. We receive invoices via email and are using automation to extract the invoice, put it into a folder, extract information from the invoice, and then enter this information into a SAP-based solution. Not every detail is taken from the invoice, only the relevant portions.

We have already developed it and it's in the testing phase, where what is being tested is sending the money to the vendor.

For example, if we have purchased something for £1,000 from a vendor and they have sent us an invoice, we extract all the information, confirm that the purchase has been done by looking at our records, and then we have to submit it to the accounts office. That office will create the payment invoice for the vendor.

How has it helped my organization?

It now takes about half an hour for each invoice to be processed versus taking two to three days to do the same invoice manually.

And while I wouldn't say that UiPath enables end-to-end automation for everything, for invoice processing it does. Cash to payable is one of those things that UiPath is able to do from end-to-end, right from the point of getting the invoice from the client to the end where an email is sent to that client saying, "Your invoice has been processed. We have transferred X amount of money to your account." In some cases, especially when invoices are handwritten, we face small problems but, other than that, we are able to do it.

And the turnaround times in creating automations are much less compared to when we were using Automation Anywhere. With that solution we were not able to do it as quickly as we can using UiPath.

We did a PoC for an HR company that was giving appointment letters to about 100 people across its franchise. They wanted to give them out in one go and wanted some way of automating the process. UiPath had the tools that we could use to manipulate it enough and send the appointment letters in 15 to 20 seconds.

And automation has absolutely freed up employee time. Now, people are only looking at exceptional cases most of the time, where automation is not possible. They aren't looking at most cases. Productivity has improved to a great extent compared to what it was before automation. People are going home on time and getting their leaves on time and getting to spend quality time with their families. They are happier compared to how things were.

In addition, there was a lot of human error when people were entering information into the computer. Especially in an accounting situation, if someone inputs a four instead of a nine, it's very difficult to figure out where things went wrong. But with UiPath, there is no more inaccuracy or typos.

What is most valuable?

What we like about the product is that we are able to customize a lot of things quickly because UiPath already has certain APIs and tools available that we can integrate with our system to extract information. For example, if you have to open Word or extract information and put it into tools like SAP or Salesforce, those things get done quickly and efficiently.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is always uploading new versions of its software. So far, we haven't had any problems related to UiPath crashing or anything like that. The stability has been satisfactory. It's good, decently stable software.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very scalable. You can scale it up to any amount that you want or scale it down, depending on the kind of processes that you're doing.

We have automated the number of robots that we use. Every day we look at how many invoices we have to process. Suppose that today we have to process 5,000 invoices. In that situation, we use all 10 robots. If the next there are 15,000 invoices, two more robots will be activated to take on that load. And it works in reverse. If there are fewer than 5,000 invoices, we have eight robots working on them. It took us a while to automate that aspect.

How are customer service and support?

The support is a little bit lacking, response-wise. Just like in banking, where they give you a relationship manager, they should provide someone who is responsible for a project. That person would be responsible for responding to your queries quickly and efficiently. What happens now is that I have to wait for them to come back to me and it takes a lot of my developers' time to figure out how to do things. Support could be better.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did a project for a company that wanted to identify certain vendors to talk to but they needed to know which vendor would give them the best price. They needed to do a comparison but they were spending tons of time evaluating the vendor information. We used Python to do this, not UiPath. We made it possible to do the comparison quickly and efficiently so that when they speak to the vendors they know exactly what to talk about. It improved their resource allocation because they had 15 people doing this work. Now, there are only two people doing it. The other 13 people have been deployed to other sections and other types of work.

Even though Python is very powerful, you need to do a lot of coding. We wanted software where we could minimize coding, a low-code solution.

We looked at UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, and Kofax. But out of all of them, we found that UiPath was a more wholesome product. It's not that the other software products don't have good features, it's just that UiPath has a lot of tools that can be used quickly and efficiently.

How was the initial setup?

Right now UiPath is on the cloud, but eventually, it will be on-prem. When we signed the agreement with them, we told them that we would do it on the cloud and they had to provide us with the storage and cloud space. They were very accommodating about that.

We were able to deploy the first automation in about two weeks. It's not just setting things up, but also making sure that it is working. The users also needed to evaluate things using their tools and data. So the setup was not that bad. Within two weeks we were all set up and ready.

What was our ROI?

It is worth the cost. We did costing for our invoicing project and we are seeing between 20 and 25 percent ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of UiPath is too high. From their website, what I see is that if you can buy one license it will cost about 5,000 rupees here in India. And for enterprise solutions, they are charging about 800,000 rupees for about 100 licenses, which is quite high compared to similar software solutions.

What other advice do I have?

The ease of building automations depends on what the client wants. Some processes can be done very quickly and efficiently, but some need a lot of tweaking to meet the requirements of the client and they take a little time. But as a general rule of thumb, it is quite efficient actually. Some take very little time and some can take a couple of weeks.

The UiPath user forums are good, but there's nothing new in them. Whatever they are saying, we have already done it. There isn't much new information there. For example, UiPath has a tool known as Document Understanding, using Computer Vision to do a lot of the processing. We were stuck a little bit but the user community was not able to give us much insight mainly because Document Understanding was very new. It still is quite new and people have not explored it enough to give their feedback. We were flailing about, trying to figure out what to do and what not to do, what works and what doesn't. We were more or less on our own.

In our company, we try to make sure that prospects have gone through the UiPath Academy on their own. For us, it is mandatory that they do so to have at least a basic idea of what UiPath can do and, during interviews before we hire them, we try to test them on some of the use cases. We don't want to spend time teaching them about it. We assume that if they have gone through the Academy courses, they are well-versed in what is expected.

Makes automation easy, saves time and money, and has helpful community and support
Pros and Cons
  • "One feature that is particularly very likable is the My Workspace option under the Orchestrator menu. We can easily arrange and/or segregate all the folders there. The My Workspace option has been a very big positive for me. I've been able to streamline my work and do structured work with this My Workspace option."
  • "We used AI to predict the data modeling and report structure, but it wasn't accurate all the time. It's an evolving functionality, and I hope that it gets corrected over the course of time. The basic functionality is on par with any other software in the market, but it's not helpful for simplifying complex workflows and modules."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is creating automation for day-to-day activities for our internal use, especially for performance management and reporting. Apart from that, we create some automation applications for our clients as they're using UiPath. That's another use case.

How has it helped my organization?

We prepare database reports where a lot of product data is consumed. Creating reports or reporting used to take a lot of time and effort for us. UiPath has been very helpful for us in quickening this process and making it efficient.

It enables us to implement end-to-end automation. With our data and reporting tasks, there were a lot of repetitive tasks that needed to be done, which sometimes can be irritating. UiPath has completely taken over this process. So, right from the input of data to the extraction of reports, the complete end-to-end process is covered by UiPath. I don't have any complaints.

With UiPath, our automations are getting better and better. UiPath is driving performance, innovation, and growth across our entire organization. With report automation being our main use case, we saved a lot of hours, and we have also reduced a lot of overhead costs with UiPath. With automated data processing, errors are minimal. The error rate is almost zero, and the time taken is pretty quick. Our efficiency has improved, and that has been a major benefit for us.

We have been using the cloud version of UiPath. So, our on-premises footprint has definitely been reduced.

It has helped us move a lot closer to 100% digital transformation. Our reporting is automated, and we are almost 100% digital now. There is also an overall reduction in the cost and employee time.

It has reduced human error. The error rate is minimal or nearly zero. It's 100% smooth for us. In the past, we would have overlooked or missed certain data points, and during our final report collaboration, a mismatch would happen, but that is completely reduced with UiPath.

It has freed up a lot of employee time. It has also made our work much more efficient. Earlier, if seven employees were doing a particular task, only three employees are required now to do that task. So, other employees can focus on something else now.

It has saved about two working days or 16 hours a week. With the amount of data that we work with for reporting, it was a very hectic task for us. We had a lot of data sheets, Excel files, etc. UiPath has saved us two days of manual work per week.

It has saved costs. We were a team of seven who were handling reporting. We were taking reports and consolidating everything, whereas now, only three of us are required to do that. The remaining four can focus on something else. That much time and cost have been saved. This has resulted in us focusing on some other aspects of our business and bringing in more revenue for us. These are some of the overheads that have been completely saved by UiPath.

What is most valuable?

One feature that is particularly very likable is the My Workspace option under the Orchestrator menu. We can easily arrange and/or segregate all the folders there. The My Workspace option has been a very big positive for me. I've been able to streamline my work and do structured work with this My Workspace option. It's one of my favorite features. Apart from that, I like the integration services offered by UiPath. There is also the Studio option with good features, but I have used Studio very less. It's basically used to design specific automations and applications.

UiPath is very straightforward for creating automation. Especially in the UiPath Orchestrator and UiPath Studio, you can just drag and drop items to create an automation flow. It's that easy. For example, for the reporting automation, I designed the automation flow by using the in-built features. I did not type any command or code. I just picked a feature and dragged and dropped it to create and implement the flow. It was that easy for me.

The UiPath community is very vast, which is a very major plus for us. Whatever doubts we have and whatever knowledge transfer needs to happen can happen pretty quickly with the UiPath community. I find it very useful. Apart from the UiPath community, there is an Academy option where we can take up some courses, and we can do some certifications. That is also very good. I have personally not taken any courses, but I'm aware there are courses because my teammates did the certification courses. So, in terms of value, UiPath is an all-rounder for us because apart from doing automation, we get a whole lot of other things. It's very good.

What needs improvement?

They can improve the in-app guides and in-app tutorials. One instance where I faced a challenge with UiPath was during the initial week of using UiPath. It can be a little complex to understand at first. The in-app guides or the in-app tutorials could be much more elaborate and detailed. That would have made my entire journey smooth, but that did not happen.

The AI functionality could be improved. We used its AI functionality as a base for our reporting automation. It's not 100% perfect. It's still evolving. We used AI to predict the data modeling and report structure, but it wasn't accurate all the time. It's an evolving functionality, and I hope that it gets corrected over the course of time. The basic functionality is on par with any other software in the market, but it's not helpful for simplifying complex workflows and modules. The AI functionality has also not been helpful in increasing the number of automation, but UiPath, in general, has been very easy to use and helpful for doing more automation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for about eight or nine months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't faced any issues so far. It has been smooth. I would rate it a 10 out of 10 in terms of stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I believe that any automation software, including UiPath, is scalable. It's a cloud-based solution, so it's definitely scalable for us. With UiPath, we have been able to do more automation and reduce our overall manual work. Our manual work now is very limited. It has definitely helped us scale up in terms of revenue, efficiency, and performance.

How are customer service and support?

They're definitely very knowledgeable. Until now, I haven't had any complaints about them. Whenever we have any doubts, we just email them our queries with certain documentation, if needed. They get back to us immediately. They are also patient. It's not like they're in a hurry. They're very patient. They make sure that our query is completely resolved before moving on. I would rate them a 9 out of 10.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In my previous organization, they used a software called Freshworks. It was for automating our reports and sales processes, but I personally did not like that software because it was a little bit complex for me, and it was also costly. There were very few integrations that were offered in that particular software. We were not able to get the results that we needed. So, we looked into different solutions, and that's when I recommended UiPath to my team.

In terms of performance, UiPath has been very reliable. It's a complete cloud solution. The Freshworks software was not a cloud solution. We used it on-premises, but UiPath is a complete cloud solution for us. It's a very reliable and stable solution. We hardly face any downtime, server errors, or something like that with UiPath. That has been a very noticeable difference for me. Apart from that, in terms of complexity, UiPath is not at all complex. It's a structured solution. You choose A, and you can come to B, and you can come to C. It's very structured, which is something that was lacking in Freshworks.

How was the initial setup?

I was involved in its implementation. It was not a complex process. It just required me to sit with the UiPath team and get it implemented. We did not need an elaborate team or effort. Within 15 to 20 days approximately, we were able to set up everything and get it running completely. The implementation process was very smooth.

Its maintenance is also very easy because it's a cloud-based solution. We just need to keep it updated all the time. That's the only thing. We have employed just one person to take care of the maintenance.

What about the implementation team?

It was a combination of the in-house team and UiPath specialists. Their initial training team was very knowledgeable, and they were very pleasant in addressing all our queries with respect to how to design applications, how to create automation, and things like that.

What was our ROI?

We have definitely seen an ROI. Four employees are now not needed to do reporting. We have been able to transfer them to other projects. It has given some returns within four to five months. We have reduced our overall work time by around 30%. We have been able to use that saved time for other things helpful to bring in more sales, automation, etc.

Our inbound revenue is going up. We have seen a 20% increase in our overall revenue after the introduction of UiPath, but I cannot directly pinpoint that to UiPath because there are other factors as well.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I was not involved in the pricing negotiations, but as far as I understand, my team was happy with the pricing. So, I assume that its price is moderate and competitive. It isn't highly-priced.

What other advice do I have?

To anyone looking into getting this solution, I would advise getting UiPath instantly and integrating it with your business to proceed further. If not UiPath, I would definitely recommend trying any other automation solution because that is the need of the hour. We are humans after all. Manual work is prone to error and less efficient. An automation solution can definitely help you scale your business quickly. UiPath is one of the top ones when it comes to automation. It's a tried, tested, and trusted solution. So, I would suggest going with UiPath, but if you have any concerns about it, you can definitely try other solutions.

Considering the UiPath community, UiPath Academy, and UiPath's all-around capabilities, I would rate it a 9 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
