Easy automation building with a great user community and useful AI capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "UiPath has helped speed up digital transformation and significantly reduced the cost of digital transformation."
  • "They could make it more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

I've used it to automate different types of processes. My first project was to automate PDF documents. The process was a bit lengthy for the client. The client actually used to enter the information into the PDF templates and get them submitted to the government websites. And once they submitted their documents, the government released grant payments or other stuff. Previously, they hired people to do the data entry. However, it was taking too long, and some crazy errors. They had to have a pretty formatted, clean Excel sheet.

With UiPath, the bot would choose the data, get the data from there, and then put it into PDF files, save them with the sort of renaming schemes, and then upload them to the drive and then to the portal. That's the first use case I got. I built up workflows in it and automated the whole process.

I keep exploring it and now have other use cases coming in as well. There are more than 150 or 200 use cases for different types of projects.

How has it helped my organization?

What is most valuable?

The process management is great.

The orchestrator is helpful. And they have something called live monitoring. If you have an unattended bot set up on someone's system or in a virtual private server, when the bot gets executed, you can actually monitor it in the live stream. You can open up the live stream, keep checking it, and look at the automation, and how the board progresses, and you can take control of the live stream in between as well if you want to.

The ease of building automation is relatively very good. Most of the programmers and developers get hectic while writing scripts. However, they get bored. Now we can just create a sequence of processes. That way, we can train some colleagues, and it's pretty easy.

I've used the solution for a good cause, for a client trying to gather information from the Internet in Switzerland to reduce carbon emissions. They were trying to get a lot of information to raise awareness regarding emissions and businesses. I helped the organization implement a use case.

The product enables us to implement end-to-end automation. There are certain scenarios in cases where integration is required. It is important based on certain scenarios or use cases.

The user community is great. When I was starting out, I really got a lot of help from the forum. The community is very good. The most common questions are already being answered there, and everyone is engaged. The community is pretty strong. You can just post your question in theory and get a reply real quick.

The solution has helped to minimize our on-premises footprint. You can just get it all done on the cloud. They have recent updates coming in in which you don't need to install any tool on your system. You can just develop your workflow on the cloud as well.

It really helps non-technical people. I don't need to go through the hassle of installation. I just go to the cloud and start developing the basic workflow.

The UiPath Academy is good. I didn't have a chance to do a lot of the Academy yet. I have had one or two trainings for the implementation methodologies. That said, mostly I've learned through real-time projects or through my self-learning, plus the content we have on the Internet.

The AI functionality is used in our automation programs. It has documented understanding. It has built-in trained models that help understand the document. You simply go to the document, scan, install the package, and just train your invoices and the data you have with similar invoices. It helps you to identify the invoices and extract information from the structured data.

UiPath has helped speed up digital transformation and significantly reduced the cost of digital transformation.

It's helped reduce human error. Being able to have RPA enter information again and again really helps solve the problem of dealing with random errors.

UiPath frees up employee time for other stuff. It helps optimize time and make everything efficient. Whether it's attended or unattended mode, it really helps employees. We can save a lot of hours. The automation hub that they offer can upload all the stats. It will take a process and tell you how many hours you could save. The cost savings are directly proportional to the time savings.

What needs improvement?

I used to have some workflows that were a bit lengthy, and I just see that some of the time, they crash. It's unstable if the workflow is long. Sometimes you'll run an update, and it will make a workflow crash.

They could make it more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for around four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution does crash sometimes.

In one instance, I was trying to read a file, and the file itself was a bit larger. It's hard to read a large number of files.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. I would rate it eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted technical support that often. I only reached out to get more information on a certain case.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use any alternative previously. However, since using UiPath, I've also used Power Automate and Selenium. Selenium is not a direct competitor. However, I have used it a lot. Power Automate doesn't have the robust community or forums that UiPath has. That said, it costs less.

How was the initial setup?

I'm an implementor. I deploy solutions for my clients.

The cloud implementation of UiPath is straightforward. If you are knowledgeable of the process and you're good in tech technology, you can handle it. If you are non-technical, then it could be a bit of a lengthy process to learn first and then go ahead and do it.

The deployment can be handled by a single person, depending on the use case. If it's more complex, you may need a team to deploy.

There is maintenance required. If there's a change to the website, process, platform, or data point then you have to go in and adjust.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing cost is pretty expensive compared to competitors.

The community edition, however, is pretty good for developing automation. You can have one unattended product as well, which you can utilize.

A developer license may be around $420 or $450 a month, which is really expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a reseller.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

I would advise others, if they mean to use the product, to be specific and look at the cost structure. A small business will always need to be mindful of the cost structure. For a smaller business, the community version might be an option.

Overall, the orchestrator, the cloud management, and a lot of their features are great.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Is easy to automate, reduces human error, and saves us money
Pros and Cons
  • "The ease of automation using UiPath is valuable."
  • "UiPath should add support for more programming languages, such as Python, in addition to VBScript, to help developers with their coding."

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath to automate simple, everyday processes like email automation.

We have deployed UiPath both on-premises and in the cloud.

How has it helped my organization?

Using UiPath to build automation is easy compared to the other automation solutions I have used.

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation, which is important because it helps us eliminate human errors.

The UiPath User Community is good.

The UiPath Academy courses are helpful, and all of our team members use them. We have learned a lot about UiPath from the courses.

UiPath helped to speed up our digital transformation and reduce the cost of doing so. We did not require any expensive or complex application upgrades or IT application support to speed up our digital transformation.

We have repeatedly tested our processes with humans and with UiPath. We consistently achieve better results with UiPath because it eliminates the possibility of human error in our reports.

UiPath saves our staff time by reducing the manual tasks.

UiPath has saved us money by eliminating the need for a person to perform repetitive daily tasks.

What is most valuable?

The ease of automation using UiPath is valuable.

What needs improvement?

UiPath should add support for more programming languages, such as Python, in addition to VBScript, to help developers with their coding.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for just over one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath does sometimes go down, but compared to other automation tools I have used, it is more stable.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good. I received a response within one day the last time I contacted them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Automation Anywhere for some projects, but UiPath is far better because of its easy-to-access and informative User Community.

How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment is straightforward. All we have to do is publish and grab the data linked to the orchestrator. One person is required for the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was completed in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is a bit high, but UiPath is worth the cost, given its ease of use and features. We sometimes use Automation Anywhere instead of UiPath to save costs, but UiPath is our preferred choice.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate UiPath nine out of ten.

No real maintenance is required for UiPath.

UiPath is easy to use and automates well. It is also good at identifying errors compared to other solutions.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Offers broad functionality and good customer support
Pros and Cons
  • "The use of AI has freed up time and resources for other tasks in our company. We are a little bit more of an ad hoc approach right now. I just finished up a new cross-set of processes about two weeks ago that allowed us to onboard a client. I wouldn't have been able to without this automation. It would have taken a couple of months of several people's time to get them to get all this work done in the back end."
  • "From the UiPath product perspective, this might be a problem because we're on-prem, but they add new functionalities pretty rapidly. It feels like there are releases constantly, and I don't want to update it too often."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is more of a reactive ad hoc use case to solve business problems on the fly. We can build automations to update thousands of records.

We're putting a little bit more money and resources into it, and we're starting to go down more of the unattended automation path to actually do more end-to-end processes.

How has it helped my organization?

The use of AI has freed up time and resources for other tasks in our company. We are a little bit more of an ad hoc approach right now. I just finished up a new cross-set of processes about two weeks ago that allowed us to onboard a client. I wouldn't have been able to without this automation. It would have taken a couple of months of several people's time to get them to get all this work done in the back end.

It is helping. It provides value where we wouldn't be able to do certain things without it.

What is most valuable?

The broad functionality is the most valuable feature because it can interact with many different factors, and there are several ways to solve a problem.

There's not just one cookie-cutter way to achieve what you need to achieve. You can get there in various different ways. That's a key aspect for me.

What needs improvement?

From the UiPath product perspective, this might be a problem because we're on-prem, but they add new functionalities pretty rapidly. It feels like there are releases constantly, and I don't want to update it too often.

I feel like I'm behind even though I might not be. Sometimes, we'll go a year without doing any major upgrade to Studio or Orchestrate or anything.

That's more of a personal problem, but that's because there are frequent updates to understand.

For how long have I used the solution?

We started using UiPath about three years ago. We're a small company, an 80-employee bank, in Denver, Colorado.

We're smaller than a typical RPA client. Our development is probably underutilized compared to larger institutions. Still, we thought it was important to get in the game early and start establishing the foundation of an RPA environment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good. We have run into some issues that they believe are more related to their environment than to the application itself.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We're in the process right now of scaling. It is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support have been amazing. It is honestly the best product support.

I have no complaints about the support. I don't even get worried when I have a situation. I might need to open a case. I like partnering with them. It's a good experience.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was difficult because I didn't have a lot of past experience setting up a new program. This was a whole new program for us. Not only was it installing things, but it was also wrapping your head around how to set up properly so that we can get out of this.

It was a little challenging, especially with the on-prem solution and working in Citrix, to make sure these different servers were talking to each other properly, but overall, it was not too bad.

We're on-prem right now, so we're not even in the automation cloud. We're looking into that in probably the next year. The UiPath platform has been great for getting to understand those products a little better.

What was our ROI?

I see a return on investment. Even with underdeveloped automation, we definitely have a good ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If people don't understand the benefits, they might think it's a bit pricey, but for me, it's very cost-effective.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism. It was three years ago.

I work in banking. We are highly regulated in our server infrastructure, so we decided to do a VDI environment that works in Citrix.

At the time, UiPath seemed like the best product to work with Citrix which was a large reason why we chose UiPath.

We wanted to make sure we were getting something that was going to play nicely with our environment. It has proven to be true to this day.

We feel like we chose the right vendor.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I want to give it a ten out of ten. I have to give it an honest nine just because I haven't used other RPA solutions. But I love UiPath.

If you're going to go in, go all in. We didn't go all in at the beginning, and we should have. We're playing a little bit of catch-up because of that. My advice would be to go all in and be organized with your approach.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

User-friendly, easy for automation building, and saves employee time
Pros and Cons
  • "The user community is pretty great. You can find an answer to basically any query."
  • "It would help if there was functionality whereby you could upload something like a flow chart and the solution could process steps according to the flow chart."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for automation. It helps with Excel automation, validation, data extraction, et cetera. We use UiPath for a client project we are working on.

How has it helped my organization?

It's helped improve the organization via an increase in ROI. The employees are much more productive and they no longer have to do repetitive, tedious tasks.

What is most valuable?

The product is very user-friendly. It has great drag-and-drop features. My background isn't in computer science, and it was easy for me to get familiar with UiPath and the user interface.

You can do almost anything related to automation. If it's related to email. databases, Excel sheets, et cetera. There's nothing that needs automation that can't be done on UiPath.

It's very easy to build automations. We can easily build end-to-end automation. We had a process, for example, that needed to be triggered once an email was received. The attachments needed to be downloaded and processed and a reply had to be sent back. UiPath could handle each one of those tasks.

The user community is pretty great. You can find an answer to basically any query. You can participate and reply as well.

I've used the Academy courses to learn more about UiPath since I started using the product in May. I started with the foundational course and then did the advanced course and action center and document understanding overview course. It's helping me learn everything fairly extensively.

The solution has helped us speed up digital transformation. They have enabled very fast digital transformation to meet a company's needs.

It helps reduce human error. I've helped deal with processes that would require employees to deal with thousands of forms. Using UiPath can reduce human error quite extensively. If there was a chance of human error at 25% before, it's been reduced to a maximum of 2% to 3%.

The solution helps free up employee time. The employee, in turn, can be more productive and learn new things in the meantime. It's likely freed up more than 30% of employee time so far.

What needs improvement?

I've only used the solution for six months so it is hard to consider improvements. It would help if there was functionality whereby you could upload something like a flow chart and the solution could process steps according to the flow chart.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution since May of this year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. From what I have heard from my team, it's almost always stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our clients are large-scale enterprises.

It is very scalable. You can add or change things as needed and update processes as necessary. We do have quite a sizable process that involves ten to 12 departments and it works well.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is responsive. They were very kind when I dealt with them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used other platforms such as Power Automate and Automation Everywhere. UiPath is a lot better as it is very high-level.

How was the initial setup?

I did not directly deal with the initial deployment.

There is not too much maintenance required.

What was our ROI?

Clients have noted an ROI. They've found employees are much more productive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I haven't seen the pricing or dealt with the licensing of UiPath.

However, I have heard of clients switching to Power Automate due to the fact that it was cheaper than UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

I do not exactly use the AI functionality. It's not part of my job at this point.

I'd recommend automation for digital transformation. As for which platform to use, it would depend on which processes they need to use. UiPath is quite suitable for mid-level to large enterprises.

I would rate the solution nine out of ten. It's an excellent product.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

An easy-to-use and scriptless tool that can be used for process automation
Pros and Cons
  • "UiPath is a tool which is mostly used for process automation."
  • "UiPath is currently lacking a Citrix environment, mostly on remote desktop applications."

What is our primary use case?

The use cases for UiPath are mostly based on SAP products, web applications, and APIs.

What is most valuable?

UiPath is a tool which is mostly used for process automation. It's not like a normal automation tool. We have different kinds of process automation tools in the market. UiPath provides the best integration between multiple applications. It has supportive technology for all kinds of applications. It supports all kinds of products like desktop products and web applications.

So, integration is the best feature of UiPath. UiPath provides attended and unattended robots to do automation. It provides a use case for scanning invoice processing. So, these are some of the useful features provided by UiPath.

What needs improvement?

UiPath is currently lacking a Citrix environment, mostly on remote desktop applications. The banking sector is more concerned about security. To open an application, we need to enter some token authorization. Such kinds of processes or technologies need to improve in UiPath.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for three to four years.

How are customer service and support?

When we face technical or product issues, we raise a ticket to UiPath support and get technical assistance from Uipath regarding the products and services.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before UiPath, I used an automation tool called QTP/UFT tool.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial deployment is easy, and it's not that difficult.

For the solution's on-prem initial deployment, we need the license and installation of the Orchestrator and the robotics machine.

What about the implementation team?

Since it's a single-contribution project, I did the solution's development, deployment, and post-deployment support all by myself.

What was our ROI?

UiPath has helped streamline most standard processes, and it has also made the rule-based decision-making process stable. The solution helps us save a lot of time and manual effort. It has improved the accuracy and speed of processes like approving tasks, processing tickets, or the expenses of the employees. Most things that were very slow when done manually have become very fast nowadays with UiPath.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Comparatively, UiPath's pricing is higher than other tools. Since it provides the best services compared to other tools, UiPath's pricing is reasonable. Nowadays, they also provide cloud robots that don't require any infrastructure in our organization.

What other advice do I have?

UiPath is a very easy-to-use and scriptless tool. Since it doesn't have any code involved in it, any nontechnical person can also use it for their professional work. They can automate any kind of workflow as per the business knowledge. UiPath doesn't require much technical knowledge and is very easy to use.

In most service-based or manufacturing organizations, UiPath can be used for processes that deal with a good cause. In the service-based organization, it provides employee benefit services like the recruiting process and retirement process. The solution also does monitoring tasks like license validation.

If you talk about social services, the solution also helps with passport scanning, which mostly happens in the airport. With the help of UiPath, we can immediately scan the passport and get the required information from a security point of view. So, it provides all kinds of the most relevant use cases in real life.

In UiPath, multiple stages are involved, like requirement gathering, business analysis, preparation of the process design documents, implementation of the perfect automation, and then deployment of that automation. After the deployment, we provide post-deployment support to the end users. This end-to-end process involves all kinds of stages, from requirement gathering to production and deployment. So, UiPath provides end-to-end automation.

UiPath provides a trial version of 60 days, which is the community edition and is completely free to use to learn. They have their own academies to learn the courses, which are also completely free. It also provides a certification of UiPath as a developer. UiPath has the best forum community edition where you can raise your questions and immediately get support or answers from the community. UiPath's user community is very user-friendly.

With UiPath, we have reduced a lot of manual work and saved a lot of time. It helped us reduce the most complex activities involved in the finance and HR departments.

I have used UiPath Academy courses and completed my certification program as a UiPath developer. Since UiPath is a scriptless tool, any user can learn the tool very easily by using the UiPath Academy courses. UiPath Academy courses are completely free. They don't have any charges and provide all the practical sessions and environment.

The UiPath Studio is also available for a 60-day trial version. You can install this tool on your machine, practice, and become an RPA or UiPath developer. So, UiPath Academy is the best tool to learn the UiPath tool.

Currently, UiPath has a lot of things like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing. We have integrated all these things with UiPath. We also have AI Fabric in UiPath. By using AI, we can automate the more complex processes where decision-making is involved. The solution's AI functionality is mostly used in invoice processing or approving budgets.

UiPath's AI functionality has enabled us to automate more processes overall. AI gives us more leverage on process automation by reducing manual work and saving a lot of time in complex situations where decision-making is more complex. Based on historical data and previous experience, our UiPath bots can learn many things and give the best solution in AI.

UiPath gives more features to digitize your current business from manual to automation. It also saves lots of manual costs and real-time employee costs.

Although not 100%, UiPath reduces human error and provides more accurate results. It is very fast in terms of processing, and we can automate any kind of process. It works 24/7, even on weekends and holidays.

UiPath helps us to reduce or avoid some manual, repetitive tasks that most of our employees do on a daily basis. We have automated such tasks, and it saves a lot of employee time. So, employees can contribute their time to new innovations, new tasks, or new projects.

Nowadays, time is money. With UiPath, we save a lot of time and money in real-time employees.

RPA has multiple automation tools like Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, and UiPath. We chose UiPath in our organization because it has more features than other tools.

I was involved in setting up the infrastructure for my current project. I was involved in the installation of the robots, the installation of the Studio, the connection between the Orchestrator and the Studio, and the deployment of the robots on the machine. I was involved in such activities, apart from the development.

Overall, I rate UiPath a nine out of ten.

Provides the ability to recognize screen elements, saves us time and costs
Pros and Cons
  • "The ability to recognize screen elements and their robot technology are both very valuable features."
  • "UiPath does not have a delivery product."

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath to automate business processes.

We use UiPath Orchestrator and other products in the cloud, but we deploy the robots to our own internal network. The robots are managed by the cloud, but they run within our applications on-premises. The UiPath administration system and configuration are also done in the cloud.

How has it helped my organization?

The ease of building autonomous automation depends on the design. In our organization, we have developed a good design that recognizes the business process and the design features. We want to develop it in a way that is easy to follow. If we do this well, it will be easy for the developer to understand what needs to be built. The studio product, which is UiPath's development product, is also a very easy product to use to build the automation.

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation.

They have a large and active user community. If we are a large enough customer, UiPath assigns dedicated account managers, pre-sales staff, and developers to work with us. They also organize community events, such as the one where one of our senior managers was invited to give a keynote speech from a customer perspective on their experience with UiPath. These events are positive and beneficial. UiPath is a large company and is probably one of the top three RPA vendors. As a result, they have a large and active user community.

UiPath has helped us reduce our on-premises infrastructure. We used to have an on-premises administration or orchestration system that consisted of databases and application services. We no longer need that system, as everything is now in the cloud. This is beneficial for managing upgrades, capacity, and costs. UiPath costs us less overall, even though their cloud licenses are slightly more expensive than on-premises licenses.

We use certain UiPath Academy courses to train our developers before they start working on projects. The Academy offers consistent and quick training in all the core elements of UiPath. This saves us time and resources, as we don't have to tie up valuable staff in maintaining training materials or delivering training. The courses are self-paced, so new employees can complete them at their own pace. They are also up-to-date with the latest features of UiPath, ensuring that our developers are always learning the latest skills.

UiPath does not speed up our digital transformation as much as it reduces the cost to a level where we can afford to do our digital transformation. I always consider the RPA solution to be feasible until such time as we can properly transform the business behind the scenes. I refer to it as system automation rather than RPA automation which is a true digital transformation.

It reduces human error by automating repetitive tasks. This means that we no longer have to train people on how to do these tasks, and they can be performed consistently and accurately every time. This is especially important for tasks that require data entry into fields or applications that do not have validation. By automating these tasks, we can avoid the cost of hiring and training people, and we can also reduce the variation in the process. This leads to a more efficient and error-free operation.

UiPath has helped free up our employees' time by automating repetitive tasks that were previously done manually. For example, employees were previously responsible for entering information into multiple systems, which was a time-consuming and error-prone process. UiPath robots can now perform these tasks much more efficiently, freeing up employees to focus on more high-value work. In addition, UiPath has helped us to eliminate the need for some contractors who were previously hired to perform manual data entry tasks. This has saved us money by eliminating those contractor positions. In the last four years, we have used robotic process automation in 90 percent of our processes and fully automated ten percent. This has saved us the equivalent of 200 full-time employees.

We have saved approximately $18 million over the four years we have been using UiPath. These are real savings, as people are no longer doing those tasks. In particular, we have been able to eliminate 100 full-time equivalent contractors. These are hard savings that we can actually measure. UiPath has a tool that allows businesses to identify a process, enter the key steps, and calculate the amount of time spent on those steps. UiPath then magically calculates the potential savings. These savings are real because they are based on the amount of time that people would have spent on those tasks if they were not automated. The results of this analysis are then stored in the Automation Hub tool. This tool allows us to see which high-value processes should be automated first. UiPath is smart enough to tell organizations they don't need to analyze all of the processes themselves. They can let UiPath do it for them. The Automation Hub tool does not go into the details of the design or the automation of the processes. It simply captures the processes that the business has identified as being manual and in need of automation. This gives us a pipeline of work that UiPath can then sell us licenses to automate.

What is most valuable?

The ability to recognize screen elements and their robot technology are both very valuable features. The ability to recognize the screen element that we want to input or extract data from is very good. It is also very extensive. We also like the way that the unattended mode allows us to run it as a background process on a desktop. We can run these things quite well. UiPath's robot technology is very reliable.

What needs improvement?

I see UiPath as a practical product that is trying to achieve end-to-end automation or end-to-end processing. They are playing in this space and bringing their AI connectivity or components into their product. However, I think the only downside is that, as we have seen recently, for some of the processes we have automated, we have documentation on the technical elements that we have automated, but people have forgotten the business rules. UiPath has a task capture product or a process mining product but it could be improved by capturing the business process and then how the automation that we have developed feeds into that overall business process, and making that available to the business so that they know what the business processes are. UiPath does not have a delivery product. For example, when we go into Microsoft DevOps, UiPath does not do that. Once we have identified the process and have coded it in UiPath, there is nothing to tell us about how we deliver that process, and who is assigned to a task to build the components. There is no project management or DevOps delivery pipeline model inside UiPath, so we cannot manage the development.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is extremely scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is excellent.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The on-premises deployment of UiPath is complex. We had a lot of network issues because we have a secure network architecture. We had to split up our database elements, application server elements, and virtual machines that run the robots. This was complex. High availability was also complex to achieve, as we had to set up load balancing and failover. Finally, upgrading the system was a nightmare. It took forever, and UiPath releases a major release every year. Deploying in the cloud is much more straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The license cost for UiPath is about $500,000 per year.

I always say that the price of UiPath is too expensive. But if we identify a high-value business process to automate, UiPath becomes a very cost-effective product. A robot license costs $6,000 USD per year, or $10,000 NZD. This is about one month's salary for one person. If we can automate a process that would otherwise require ten people, the investment in UiPath will pay for itself quickly.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism before deciding on UiPath. We are a large organization and can afford the cost of UiPath, but it was more about the functionality of the product at the time. UiPath consistently ranked ahead of the others in terms of functionality, according to Gartner and Everest. I believe we made a wise choice. It is also easier to get developers for UiPath because of their Academy.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate UiPath nine out of ten.

UiPath's AI functionality can be used to help developers build automation processes, but it can be expensive. We use the open-source TensorFlow technology from Google, which is the same technology that UiPath uses. Our developers are willing to build and manage this technology themselves, which is a cost-effective solution. However, if we use UiPath's AI functionality, it will be managed by them.

I am an architect. I have worked as an integration architect, infrastructure architect, and network architect. When I first saw UiPath, I thought it was just for scripting the front end, but it is much more powerful than that. I really like it because it allows me to find slow, expensive, and inefficient business processes and automate them. This can lead to real savings for the business. With traditional applications, there is often a business case that needs to be made before the application is built. But with RPA, we can see the savings every day. For example, if we automate a process that used to take ten full-time employees, we can see that we are saving ten FTEs every day. I enjoy using UiPath because it is a real solution within IT that can drive out real costs from the business.

I recommend that those who want to use UiPath do not treat it like any other IT system. Do not simply implement it and expect it to be of high value. The most important thing is to understand the business well enough to use the tool to its full potential. In other words, automate high-value or high-benefit processes.

Helps improve our patient experience, saves time, and organizational costs
Pros and Cons
  • "The OCR engine is a valuable feature."
  • "UiPath should lower its prices because many other RPA tools have reduced their prices, and Microsoft is a major competitor because it offers RPA services to its customers."

What is our primary use case?

Oracle has three broad categories: HCM, PPM, and finance. I have used UiPath to automate mainframe applications. I have automated all types of automation, including ServiceNow processes, PDFs, APIs, and web-based automation.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has a large number of Java and Python developers. Its modularization of packages for different types of activities and automation is very well done. UiPath also collects suggestions from end users and developers, such as those using the free UiPath software. In fact, UiPath does not release its enterprise edition directly; instead, it releases a free edition for developers to use and provide feedback on the forums. This gives UiPath a significant advantage. Additionally, UiPath has made its tool flexible by building it on the .NET framework but allowing users to also use Java and Python. This gives UiPath another advantage over other tools. I am not sure if other tools offer this type of functionality, but I know that UiPath does because I have used it for a long time.

It can connect systems that don't communicate with each other, enabling us to share data between systems using bots, which is important in the healthcare industry.

The application that was built for our organization is not capable of handling millions of users because it is very old. We must consider the Citrix application, the mainframe applications, and the desktop applications, which are also old. They were not designed to handle millions of customers. For example, CVS Pharmacy has millions of people using its applications on a regular basis. Therefore, we cannot expose that application to customers. We need to build a new client-facing application, but we cannot discard our existing application, which has been in our organization for many years. UiPath helps our applications communicate which improves our patient experience.

It helps our staff easily share data between systems by saving the information in Excel or CSV files and connecting the files to new applications.

We use UiPath to consolidate patient data from multiple sources into a single dashboard, which helps our doctors keep track of patient histories in one place.

The single dashboard helps our patients a lot because we save patient information in the same way for all hospitals including doctors, nurses, and medicines. This means that if we need a doctor nearby, want to change doctors, or are moving to a new city and need medical help, our data can help us find the right resources.

UiPath automation has helped our staff save time, especially for invoicing insurance policies in healthcare organizations. UiPath automation has saved millions of dollars and thousands of hours by simplifying the process in both the healthcare and telecommunications industries.

UiPath has streamlined tasks for our healthcare staff, especially data viewing, enabling them to focus on higher-value activities.

We use UiPath's AI and machine learning capabilities to understand documents. The machine learning process has significantly improved the accuracy of the bot's ability to read data from PDF files.

What is most valuable?

In 2019, UiPath introduced Computer Vision activities for Citrix applications. This was a major turning point for the company, and the functionality was very useful; I had not seen it in any other tools.

The OCR engine is a valuable feature.

What needs improvement?

UiPath should lower its prices because many other RPA tools have reduced their prices, and Microsoft is a major competitor because it offers RPA services to its customers.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for over five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is generally stable, but there are bugs in UiPath Studio that require fixing or restarting the application.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Blue Prism automation, but at the time, the functionality was limited and there were not many features.

How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment is straightforward. We have some design methods. The dispatcher will handle input, the performer will perform the tasks. All processes will be transactional: our first module will create the transaction, the second will execute it, and the third will generate a report.

We use the CI/CD pipeline to deploy our software. After the software passes UAT testing, we need approval from the technical team before deploying it to production.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was completed in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

UiPath is expensive. Automation Anywhere is much cheaper, and it does not have the same AI and machine learning capabilities or features. However, for some industry cases, such as document understanding and computer vision, these features are not required.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated Automation Anywhere, which was not mature at the time but is now. I also evaluated Power Automate, which has the best price of all RPA tools and is capturing a large market share due to Microsoft's bundles and integrations.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate UiPath a nine out of ten.

We have thousands of people across the organization using the automation.

UiPath itself doesn't require maintenance but the infrastructure does at times.

UiPath offers a 60 to 90 day trial of its features so that users can try the solution before buying. We can also negotiate with UiPath sales to ensure that we see a return on our automation investment within the first year.

Pros and Cons
  • "The simplicity of creating automation from a low code level is the most valuable feature of the solution."
  • "There has been a huge improvement in Linux, Microsoft, and Mac support recently. However, we still struggle with the implementation in Citrix environments. The solution works with Citrix, but there is room for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for UiPath is robotic process automation and automation fabric with document understanding AI.

How has it helped my organization?

Usually, after six to twelve months, our customers start implementing end-to-end processing with UiPath but they often start off with small tasks.

There is a clear value in being part of the UiPath community. We get money from UiPath for discounted licenses. Our customers hire us to implement their professional visions, and we're paid by the hour.

UiPath improves our customers' organizations. The effects of this growth usually start small. For example, we may notice that specific records are transferred in less time or with less manpower. Then, as the growth continues, those people become more involved in all aspects of the company.

The solution has a large impact on minimizing the on-premises footprint for our customers.

The Academic courses are vast. It provides our clients with the opportunity to start on their own and become somewhat independent. We use the courses as a huge resource to train our customers.

Usually, after six to 12 months, we start introducing our clients to more complex processes where the document understanding or AI fabric capabilities of UiPath are useful.

UiPath speeds up the digital transformation for our clients.

It helps reduce human error. This is mostly seen after UiPath has been implemented because people are not usually willing to admit their mistakes.

UiPath definitely frees up on average three to five percent of employee time per month. We have had small instances where the solution replaced a full SE with only one process.

The solution can reduce costs in retraining people on old or mundane processes, and it can also reduce costs by automating certain processes. This in turn can free up resources so that we don't have to invest in retraining people to do those same processes again. Automation eliminates the need to hire new people to do the job or carry out the process. After 18 to 24 months, many of our clients find that they don't need to hire more people to keep up with their growing business.

What is most valuable?

The simplicity of creating automation from a low code level is the most valuable feature of the solution.

UiPath's built-in automation is very easy to use. Our organization educates and provides lessons on how to use its automation and the feedback is that UiPath is easy once the introduction is complete. The solution is comparable to other software in this market.

What needs improvement?

There has been a huge improvement in Linux, Microsoft, and Mac support recently. However, we still struggle with the implementation in Citrix environments. The solution works with Citrix, but there is room for improvement.

UiPath releases a lot of new features multiple times throughout the year causing our customers to fall behind. It would be fine if there was only one release a year.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for six years.

How are customer service and support?

We are a technical partner, so we have direct support. If we post the questions well formed to the support team, we get a quick answer from them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Power Automate, and our own products during the typical analysis quadrants. UiPath is the solution we use 95 percent of the time.

The main difference between UiPath and other RPA tools is the vision. While other tools focus on automating tasks, UiPath focuses on developing citizens who can automate tasks. This means that UiPath is the best tool for organizations that want to invest in their employees' skills.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. I give the ease of deployment a ten out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation is completed in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

UiPath is not the cheapest solution, it's more or less the most expensive one, but we get what we pay for. I give the pricing an eight out of ten for its competitiveness.

What other advice do I have?

I give the solution a ten out of ten.
