If they have any doubts, first try a POC... Will help to decide.
The usability is perhaps the most useful feature or the most salient feature within Veeam Backup and Replication. You can do things very easily. Some things that, in other tools and solutions, take time to master, can be done in minutes with Veeam Backup and Replication. It's very good to get a new environment quickly deployed and backed up. Also, I think that it is highly optimized for virtual workloads. It works pretty well for that use case, and if you have VMware implemented in your environment, perhaps there is no better solution in the market for that use case (VMware protection).
If you have your VMware virtualization, then Veeam Backup is the best option out there to back up that kind of environment. Perhaps if you have an environment that has heterogeneous requirements or heterogeneous workloads, it wouldn't be the same, but if you have VMware and it's the only requirement that you have or perhaps the most important one, then Veeam Backup is the optimal solution.
On one hand, Veeam Backup is very good at usability, but on the other hand, you have a solution that requires a lot of servers to be deployed, so you have different roles and components that you have to implement in an environment. Sometimes when you have to grow the environment, Veeam Backup requires a lot of resources to get implemented. You'll need several servers and several components deployed on a distributed environment. That is not the case with other tools and solutions that only require one server to get it right, so I think that requires some room for improvement.
Also, the capabilities to identify a problem within the tools are not great. Sometimes logging the information from the product does not give you the information needed to troubleshoot a problem, and that could be an issue for you because you have no tools to get that information. There are no error codes that you can refer to, only the descriptions, and that can make the troubleshooting process difficult. You'll end up creating a ticket with the support area just to help you to identify and interpret the logs, which you should be able to do on your own.
What I would like to see implemented in the future for Veeam Backup, would be the reporting tool that is not only on the enterprise, which is the most expensive licensing. So I'd like to have a decent reporting tool within the basic edition of the product, and not only on the most expensive one. I think that is the most important thing that is lacking feedback at this moment because it's a pretty strong solution overall.
I've been working with Veeam Backup for three years now.
The Veeam Backup environment is only limited to Windows environments because you cannot implement many of the components of different operating systems or environments. You have to resort to Windows. Windows is not the most secure system out there. Perhaps that can also be extended to the applications that you run on the system. In that sense, I think that Veeam Backup has a weakness in relying too much on Microsoft technology and not being able to deploy, for example, the Veeam Backup server on Linux or a Linux machine, and that would be flexible enough for some kind of environmental clients that require some stringent security.
Pricing is sometimes a little bit high. It's well established within the market, so it's not much different from other tools and solutions that you can find out there. The Veeam Universal License, VUL, is one of the ways that you can license the product. I believe it is now the only way that you can license the product. It really facilitates the product and makes it easy to get a good calculation of the sizing of your environment, and it is a good metric for you to license the product. It's very flexible. It allows you to move licenses between different workloads. I think that it's a strong way of licensing this product universally.
I would give Veeam Backup a seven out of ten overall.
It has great features. It is a modern data protection solution, but there are some things that are lacking. It's not well suited for very, very large environments or heterogeneous environments.
We use Veeam Backup Replication to backup our system data.
Veeam Backup Replication could improve by having more comparably with other hardware with the immutable copy feature.
I have been using Veeam Backup & Replication for approximately three years.
Veeam Backup Replication is stable.
I have found Veeam Backup Replication to be scalable.
The support that we have been receiving has been perfect.
The initial setup is simple to do in Veeam Backup Replication.
The single licensing model for the customers is a benefit, it includes many features such as ransomware and other protections.
The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable.
I rate Veeam Backup & Replication a ten out of ten.
Veeam's virtual lab is very useful for making use of existing backups for other purposes.
We use Veeam to protect our production environment without the need to install clients on every VM for every different MSFT applications that we have in production.
Veeam's been doing a good job in terms of delivering new features.
We have used this solution for more than 5 years.
The deployment was easy as pie.
There were no stability issues.
Our production environment is small but growing. So far, there have been no issues in terms of scalability for our use.
Customer service is pretty good. I would give them a rating of 7/10.
I never had to use technical support. The tool is pretty intuitive and we can solve most of the issues on our own.
It all comes down to cost.
The initial setup it was straightforward.
We did an in-house implementation.

The solution scales in an easy and intuitive way.
Integration with VMware is essential, in addition to the functionality of Instant Recovery, WAN Acceleration, SureBackup, SureReplica and for the most part, it is not necessary to install agents for granular backups and restores. The adoption of compression and deduplication features are extremely important, and of course the cost benefit, because the licensing costs are not calculated according to backup volume.
We reduced licensing costs for our backup, as the trend of the backup is always increasing. The tool also provides significantly simpler management and easier backup and restore operations, among other factors such as the ability to test the backups and replicas of backups in our backup site.
I would like to see agents for backup of physical servers, as only agents for Windows servers have this tool. Storage backup for Linux servers is not yet possible.
I have used this solution for three months.
For our environment in particular, we have not found any difficulty or deployment issue.
Technical support is excellent.
Before Veeam, we used the IBM solution (TSM) and evaluated NetBackup from Symantec/Veritas. We chose Veeam because of its features, lower investment cost and ease of management.
Deployment and configuration of Veeam to our environment was incredibly simple. We did not have great difficulties.
We are a company that provides hosting services and IT services to the government of Amazonas. With the implementation of Veeam, our ROI increased from 30% (TSM) to 70% (Veeam), over the first three years.
Veeam’s licensing provided savings of almost 55% in the first three years. After this period, the savings will be even greater, because the license cost is not calculated by backup volume.
Evaluate the Veeam product before manking any decisions. In my view, Veeam sells itself, and a team of sales and marketing is not necessary. Let your technical team evaluate and issue its opinion.
We use Veeam Backup Replication for on-site data backups.
Veeam Backup Replication is a bit difficult to use. If you have used other solutions such as Commvault, you will find it is much easier to use. Veeam Backup Replication does backups in a different way that is not as simple as other solutions. Doing backups of SQL Servers is much easier in Commvault. However, the difficulty could be the lack of experience I have had with Veeam Backup Replication.
I have been using Veeam Backup Replication for approximately one year.
Veeam Backup Replication is stable I have not had any problems.
I have used Commvault previously and I liked it better than Veeam Backup Replication. I am only using Veeam Backup Replication because my client already was using it in their environment.
Commvault is not intuitive in the beginning, especially the older versions with all the management tools.
The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable.
I rate Veeam Backup Replication a seven out of ten.
Veeam is used for backup.
Veeam is easy to use.
We've been selling Veeam for a couple of years.
It's stable and scalable.
Customers pay a yearly subscription for the Veeam license. The price could be lower.
I rate Veeam Backup Replication 10 out of 10. I would recommend it.
I am using Veeam Backup Replication to backup virtual machines.
Veeam Backup Replication's most valuable features are it is easy to use and manage.
I have been using Veeam Backup Replication for approximately three months.
The solution is stable.
Veeam Backup Replication is scalable.
We have two users that are using this solution in my organization.
We have been satisfied with the technical support.
The solution is easy to install and configure, it takes approximately 10 minutes.
The implementation, which includes testing and showing a demonstration to the customer, takes two hours. We have a three-person team that supports the solution.
The price of Veeam Backup Replication could be reduced. The customers are looking at other products because the price is higher than some of the competition.
I rate Veeam Backup Replication a nine out of ten.
