Good performance, with real-time collaboration, but the integration could be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "We integrate Jira with QRadar which is helpful."
  • "I would like to see more integration available with more tools."

What is our primary use case?

We use Jira for ETCM. It's for ticketing with QRadar.

What is most valuable?

We integrate Jira with QRadar which is helpful.

The performance is quite good.

It has real-time collaboration.

It provides good visual data easily.

What needs improvement?

While Jira integrates well with QRadar, it is not integrated with Splunk for example.

I would like to see more integration available with more tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

Jira is not used in my company; in fact, it is not used at all. Jira is a project management tool that I use at school and during my internship.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Jira is stable. I have not experienced any issues with the stability of Jira.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not had any issues with the scalability of Jira.

How are customer service and support?

They provide technical assistance. Whenever you need something technical, they are quick to respond.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The price seems reasonable to me. It's very similar to Splunk.

I don't believe it is expensive.

I'm not sure if they provide a free version, but we need free versions of everything to try before we buy.

I believe we simply require a longer, free version.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple. I didn't do it myself, but I've read the support, the guide, and it appears to be simple.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did some research for a school project. I needed to compare it to Splunk and a few other tools. As a result, I'm not particularly interested in purchasing them.

What other advice do I have?

I don't use Jira very often, and I don't have a lot of experience with it.

I would rate Jira a seven out of ten.

Provides very good output and integrates well
Pros and Cons
  • "Provides good output and is user-friendly."
  • "The automation feature needs to be more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for project management and defect tracking. We are customers of Jira and I'm the quality manager.

What is most valuable?

We use multiple plugins and tools which are integrated with Jira. It provides good output as we expected and we are basically hoping to increase the number of users. It's a user-friendly solution.

What needs improvement?

I think the automation feature needs to be more user-friendly because not everybody knows about coding. The automation should be customized so that it's easier to use.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is great now that we've moved to the cloud.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is good. We initially had 100 users and we now have 250 without any problem.

How are customer service and support?

The support is good and available whenever we need it. We have been interacting with them for our query resolutions, as we have certain challenges that we're dealing with day-to-day.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was quite straightforward. We used an integrator for deployment. We have a dedicated team for maintaining Jira.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution and rate it nine out of 10.

Helps in tracking features and projects, and allows us to comment almost anywhere
Pros and Cons
  • "It has enabled us to keep track of features or projects. Previously, we used to manually keep track in Office. We now have a centralized repository for all the information."
  • "I don't know if it's the way it's deployed in the organization, but the interface we are provided is not as customizable as other tools. The multi-language report is not enabled in our installation. I don't really know if it's something related to the tool or our installation."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for Kanban boards, bug reports, and some workflows.

How has it helped my organization?

It has enabled us to keep track of features or projects. Previously, we used to manually keep track in Office. We now have a centralized repository for all the information.

What is most valuable?

I like that you can comment almost anywhere, and you can leave a trail. That's the most useful thing.

What needs improvement?

I don't know if it's the way it's deployed in the organization, but the interface we are provided is not as customizable as other tools. The multi-language report is not enabled in our installation. I don't really know if it's something related to the tool or our installation.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is pretty good. I haven't had any problem with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We haven't had any problems with scalability. It doesn't feel slow. It hasn't been down. It's working pretty well.

Its users are in the hundreds, but I don't know specifically. It is available to everyone in the company, and it could potentially be used by anyone. We all are allowed to use it and implement it as we see fit.

How are customer service and support?

I have local technical support. That's our first line of support, and they contact Jira technical support if needed.

How was the initial setup?

I'm just a user. I don't know.

What other advice do I have?

General advice would be to find out about customization features and multi-language support features.

I'm not a heavy user of this solution. From what I've used, I would rate it an eight out of 10.

Lacking customization and performance, but well integrated
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of Jira are all the integrations with other systems. It's not the best in any specific area but it has lots of plug-ins and integrations."
  • "Jira could improve the workflow, screen, and field configurability. They are lagging behind other solutions, such as Allegra in work system configurability."

What is our primary use case?

We use Jira for software development and issue tracking, enhancement requests, and software lifecycle management.

How has it helped my organization?

Jira has benefited the organization because it's necessary for doing our job well. We would need to have Jira or a similar tool. For example, it's could be similar to working with documents, you need Word or a similar tool.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Jira are all the integrations with other systems. It's not the best in any specific area but it has lots of plug-ins and integrations.

What needs improvement?

Jira could improve the workflow, screen, and field configurability. They are lagging behind other solutions, such as Allegra in work system configurability.

It depends on your usage pattern because if it's more configurable, you can configure it to be a very different kind of tool which is a benefit.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Jira for approximately 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The performance is not very good for Jira but the reliability is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Jira can handle a lot of tasks. In my project, we have approximately 50,000 issues to be resolved and it worked well. However, the overall solution is slow.

We have approximately 25 employees using Jira in my organization of a total of 2,000 employees.

I use Jira moderately while other of my colleagues use it daily.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used the support from Jira.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have been using Allegra previously.

How was the initial setup?

I was not around for the initial setup. However, I tried to configure it later and it is not easy. It is not as easy as it should be.

What about the implementation team?

The solution is on the cloud, there is minimal maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of Jira is reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others thinking about implementing Jira is if you only want it for the standard flows and use it as an issue tracker in a software development setting, it is a good solution. We are using the online version. If you are in need of changing workflows or appearance, fields, screens, et cetera, Jira is not able to do this well or it's not possible at all.

Jira has found its place in our organization and it does those tasks. They should focus on speed and stability, and in that order. It's excellent with regards to preexisting integrations but it is poor at configurability.

Whether Jira is a good solution for you depends on your use case. From what I have seen creating different workflows in Jira is not good.

I rate Jira a five out of five.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We currently use Azure Boards, which is kind of a competitor to Jira, and one of the main reasons why is that it's more integrated with the development life cycle.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing so far has been okay. I don't have much to comment on.

What other advice do I have?

While scalable, the dashboard is problematic and I feel Azure DevOps to be more user-friendly
    Pros and Cons
    • "We have not encountered difficulties with the scalability."
    • "I find the dashboard to be Jira's most problematic feature."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for software project management and software lifecycles. Jira covers the entire process from requirement analysis to deployment.

    What needs improvement?

I prefer Azure DevOps and Microsoft Ecosystem to Jira.

I consider Azure DevOps to be more user-friendly and to provide a better user experience. I feel Jira to be a bit difficult to work with. I specifically recall that i encountered difficulties with Jira when I wished to receive or generate a report. Azure DevOps offers a simpler and more user-friendly panel than Jira. Jira's reporting panel is not user-friendly and a bit on the difficult side. Azure DevOps also offers more options for generating queries and reports, especially when it comes to great dashboard visualization capabilities for the monitoring of one's project. This poses a big problem with Jira, as Azure DevOps does a better job of providing this feature.

I find the dashboard to be Jira's most problematic feature. I do not like it and feel Jira is troublesome when it comes to visualizing the reports. These should be improved.

Azure DevOps offers more simplified processes, maintenance and development than Jira.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used Jira for around one year, at which point I left my previous company and made use of it in the new one I joined, where I continued to do so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find the solution to be stable, though a bit hard to use.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not encountered difficulties with the scalability.

How are customer service and support?

We have had no issues with support. As with Azure DevOps, we take advantage of the open community and forums for resolving any issues which may arise.

My recommendation, for sure, is that a person go with Azure DevOps.

I rate Jira as a six out of ten.
