We've been using 365 Business for a long time.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Business 365's performance is good.
How was the initial setup?
Setting up Business 365 is challenging because you need some technical skills. For example, you have to add a few processes where 365's resources are located, so you can activate it. You have to find the path and then activate the product by writing a command.

President at Farstar SAC Consulting Inc
Good uptime, easy to onboard new people, and easy to set up
Pros and Cons
- "As a small business, the big thing for us is the ability to onboard new people easily. So, it's a matter of minutes to add new users, buy a new license pack for them, assign the licenses to them, and get them logged on. It takes 10 to 15 minutes."
- "In Teams, it is a little tricky to set up a guest or to become a guest on someone's domain, but if people do that, then you have an improvement in the shared access. The real pain, which is not a big thing, in Teams is if you're a small business user, it is really hard to get somebody on a different domain into your list of contacts. You can't just chat with them or start an instant meeting. That is easier to do with Zoom, which I also use. The real issue in Teams is that if you're not on the same domain, a lot of the good functionality falls apart. You have to actually be a guest in the other person's domain. I have a large customer, and they created a guest account for me in their domain so that I can chat with people inside their organization as though I was inside their organization, but not everybody is willing to do that. Some of my customers are Aerospace and Defense, and nobody gets on their domain."
What is our primary use case?
I'm using all the fundamental stuff such as Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and Word. I use Excel an awful lot for data analysis.
What is most valuable?
As a small business, the big thing for us is the ability to onboard new people easily. We have people come on board for both short and long term projects. Getting them a corporate identity through email is important and it needs to be painless.
Through the admin portal, it's a matter of minutes to add new users, assign a license or buy a new license, and get them logged on. It takes 10 to 15 minutes.
What needs improvement?
A lot of the administration is done through the web interface, and that can be a little clunky sometimes. It is changing. They have a legacy interface and the new interface. So, it takes a little while to get used to one over the other, but it is not a huge thing. In the end, it usually works out.
In Teams, it is a little tricky to set up a guest or to become a guest on someone's domain, but if people do that, then you have an improvement in the shared access. Some of my customers are Aerospace and Defense, and nobody gets on their domain. So, if you're in two different domains, the communication sucks, and you're better off picking up your phone, which is bad. If you go back to the old model of Skype, you could add people, and then you could chat with them whether they were in your domain or not.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for about five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is quite stable. I had no issues, and uptime is good.
How are customer service and technical support?
I haven't really dealt with tech support. It has been more around admin and billing, but it has been good. I probably needed some help from tech support a long time ago. They have multiple ways to connect. They can connect with you by email, or they can do a Remote Desktop or RDP. You can basically send them your cell phone number and tell them when you're ready for a call, and they'll call you. So, it has been really good.
How was the initial setup?
Setting everything up initially was pretty straightforward. I didn't get the domain name through Microsoft, but I was able to link everything to a domain that I had purchased from a totally different organization.
Essentially, I got the exchange servers connected to a domain that I had purchased from somewhere else. It was pretty easy. The most complex part was where you have to go and set up some of the detailed information relating to the domain name. You have to change some mappings and settings in the MX record when you link it to the domain. You have to go back to where your domain is being hosted and modify the MX records based on the information that Microsoft gives you. It validates that you've got it right and tells you what is working or what is not working. It tells you which settings are or are not correct. So, even though creating MX record entries is a little bit complex, they walk you through it really well
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I have one of the higher level business licenses, and then I have a number of very basic, lower-cost cost subscriptions for our short term team members. We're a small organization of a dozen people.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We considered Google but almost all of our customers are Microsoft shops.
What other advice do I have?
I come from an organization of 1,200 people, and around the time I was leaving, everything was being migrated to Office 365. The fact that Teams is bundled with the package now is a big thing because a lot of larger organizations are using Teams, so it lets you connect to them rather well.
I would rate this solution a nine out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

IT Director at a real estate/law firm with 1,001-5,000 employees
Beneficial email service, highly reliable, and helpful premier support
Pros and Cons
- "The current product they provide has been very satisfying. The email service has been operating perfectly. Dynamics CRM is the best and competes well with the non-CRM products in the market, such as Salesforce."
- "Microsoft needs to enhance its part in service management. I believe they have a product called Orchestrator, it does not get the same benefits and functionality as the rest of the solutions such as Dynamics or Office 365. They can improve by providing more integration with other solutions to cover the full business spectrum of needs, this would be a great benefit."
What is our primary use case?
We are using Microsoft 365 Business for many of the applications that it includes, such as all the office applications, Dynamics, and Power BI.
How has it helped my organization?
We moved from the on-premise version of Office which had limitations. The cloud version has given us more agility and the ability to focus on the service instead of on the administration. We can spend more time on our core business instead of on the IT teams.
What is most valuable?
The current product they provide has been very satisfying. The email service has been operating perfectly. Dynamics CRM is the best and competes well with the non-CRM products in the market, such as Salesforce.
What needs improvement?
Microsoft needs to enhance its part in service management. I believe they have a product called Orchestrator, it does not get the same benefits and functionality as the rest of the solutions such as Dynamics or Office 365. They can improve by providing more integration with other solutions to cover the full business spectrum of needs, this would be a great benefit.
Office 365 Business needs to fully be shifted to the cloud because of the improved functionality. Many corporations, such as ours, are looking to be fully implemented on the cloud. The domain functionality and active directory should be fully available on the cloud platform. They need to look at this point because having things local, such as local domain and local policy, need to be shifted and available on the Office 365 platform. This would be good for corporations to have a full cloud solution.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for approximately nine years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is highly stable. If there is ever an issue it is minor, they provide an uptime of approximately 99 percent.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Microsoft 365 Business is scalable.
How are customer service and technical support?
The basic support is not very good. The first level technical team, they need a big improvement because their knowledge is very limited. I think they are just reading a knowledge base script and trying to solve the problem. They are not very technical to be able to solve a problem directly. You need to go around and around with Microsoft in order to get your problem solved. However, if you have the premier support contract, this would be easy for you to manage your issues, even if you have big problems. For the normal support basic support, they need to improve it. I think this is the weakest point for Microsoft.
How was the initial setup?
The initial installation was very easy.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The solution is expensive. Basic support comes free with the regular subscription but the premier support cost extra.
What other advice do I have?
I would highly recommend this solution to others.
I rate Microsoft 365 Business a nine out of ten.

Infrastructure System's Manager at ICAPP (Americana Group)
A complete, reliable application that makes business easier
Pros and Cons
- "The good feature with the cloud is that you can access Microsoft Office from anywhere. It's integrated with Outlook, so you can edit a file in Excel, Word, or any other application and just attach it in the mail. It makes the business easier."
- "Excel hangs many times, especially when we have equations. Excel is very heavy on the hardware, and it needs powerful hardware. I hope they can enhance the performance of Excel. Other products are working well, except for Excel."
How has it helped my organization?
Microsoft 365 Business is helping the business very much. Office 365 is reliable, full of a lot of applications, such as Word, Excel, and so on. It is very easy. Some versions are deployed on-premises, and some are deployed on the cloud.
We have around 200 users in our company. We are also a member of a group, and we have more than 3000 users all over the group.
What is most valuable?
The good feature with the cloud is that you can access Microsoft Office from anywhere. It's integrated with Outlook, so you can edit a file in Excel, Word, or any other application and just attach it in the mail. It makes the business easier.
What needs improvement?
Excel hangs many times, especially when we have equations. Excel is very heavy on the hardware, and it needs powerful hardware. I hope they can enhance the performance of Excel. Other products are working well, except for Excel.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for five or six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is very good. All Office products work fine except for Excel, which hangs many times.
How are customer service and technical support?
We did not need technical support. We are handling our problems.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
For emails, we migrated from Gmail to Microsoft mail.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was straightforward. It takes a very short time. Deployment time depends on the application, that is, whether you are deploying the whole Office or just Excel or Word.
What about the implementation team?
We are deploying our products. In our group, we have more than 100 members for deploying our products. For Microsoft products, we have around 41 members.
What other advice do I have?
I would, of course, recommend Microsoft for all people. Microsoft always meets your expectations.
I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a nine out of ten. I think it's a complete application. They just need to enhance the performance of Excel.

Assistant consultant at Vvolve management consultants
Stable solution and offers ability to slice and dice data for focused analysis
Pros and Cons
- "The setup is straightforward."
- "I would like to see more integration options."
What is our primary use case?
I use it for Microsoft Excel, which helps with data analysis. It integrates Power BI, allowing us to perform various slicing and dicing of data.
Mostly, I have only used Microsoft 365 Business for emails and PowerPoints as of now.
How has it helped my organization?
The solution includes most of the things we need. We can use it to integrate other source systems as well, like Power BI.
What is most valuable?
It's helpful to even use it to build queries, like Microsoft queries. We can write SQL queries by joining two tables present in Excel itself. So, it's like having two tables in separate sheets, and we can build a query using a common column as a join condition. We can see the key dataset with common columns using the join condition.
Moreover, we can also perform outer joins, making Microsoft 365 Business ideal for data analysis as well.
What needs improvement?
In future releases, I would like to see more integration options.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using it for the past around one year. We currently use the latest version.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution. There are over 10,000 end-users in our organization. It is extensively used in our organization. We do have plans to increase the usage.
For example, I primarily use Excel in Microsoft 365 Business. So, we have options like Excel options; we have add-ins. So under the data tab, we have a data streamer, and we also have Microsoft Power Query for Excel. So using these, we can include the data-related menu bar in Excel software.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is straightforward. We have Excel, and we can use it as it is. It might need an add-in to be included.
We need maintenance primarily for data analysis. We use it to analyze the data, especially when we have a large dataset that we want to segregate and analyze specifically for a particular functionality. In such cases, we can use Excel for slicing and dicing the data. It allows us to focus on a specific chunk of data to make informed decisions.
What about the implementation team?
The deployment was done by our in-house team. It's a direct tool like Microsoft Excel, but there is an add-in that can be used to integrate with other source systems. It may extend the functionality.
We don't have a separate deployment process. Excel is a file that we have as part of Microsoft Office. It's a direct use, but we might need to include an add-in to display or the data-related menu in the Excel menu bar.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
There would be licensing costs because Microsoft 365 Business requires a product key and a license to be present in order to use its products, including Excel and other supportive products.
What other advice do I have?
I would suggest you to start using Excel as a basic step because Excel has its own formulas and functions. They can begin with lookups in Excel and then subsequently move ahead with building queries.
If a person has only Excel to work with, they can start with that. But they would need to have Microsoft 365 Business to proceed further with other features.
Based on the Excel work that I have done using Excel, which is a part of Microsoft 365. So, for Excel, I would rate it eight out of ten.
Therefore, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for about two years now. It's been a while at this point.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We have found the solution to be very stable. It's reliable and the performance is good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
You can scale the solution if you need to.
We have more than 2,000 people on the solution currently.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We have always used Microsoft. We did not use a different solution. We likely used an earlier version of Microsoft.
How was the initial setup?
I didn't take care of the implementation part of the solution. I cannot speak to how easy or difficult it was or what was involved in the process. I also cannot say how big the technical team was that rolled it out.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay a yearly licensing fee, however, I do not have insights into the exact costs. I don't handle anything related to licensing.
What other advice do I have?
We're using the latest version of the solution.
I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. We've been pretty happy with its capabilities.
I'd recommend the solution to other users and companies mostly based on its stability.
