Automation has transformed document workflows and has eliminated manual data entry errors
Conga Composer is a very good product and it heavily excels in any kind of complex and high-volume scenarios. It is very well-versed with handling dynamic content such as charts, nested tables, global currencies, and it can execute asynchronously, putting it well ahead of a basic PDF generator. It also offers many additional features. The user interface is my personal favorite, as the interface is largely very developer-friendly, and it is a custom front end we built. Additionally, it utilizes familiar tools like Microsoft Word and Excel. Setting it up involves a complex API deployment and JSON payloads. Initially, it requires some technical heavy lifting compared to drag-and-drop and no-code tools. If you are from a technical background, then it is not a challenge. My personal favorite features are headless execution, which helps us to trigger the document generation in the background from the buttons, workflows, or external systems without requiring the user to navigate through an interface. This gives us all the options within a single click from the UI. The second feature I love is that it supports multi-format. Generating a Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, and HTML can be done from a single source and a single, central data source. The third feature which I love is that the REST API is not locked exclusively into Salesforce. It can ingest JSON data from virtually any ERP or system of record. Additionally, the seamless add-on to the sign API has helped us to create an uninterrupted, automated contract cycle.

The security architecture is the only problem as it's a little bit complex and too torturous at times. So it could be improved a little bit, but it is regarded as a very good system in Australia. It's probably overly subscribed. Also, what's missing is what people would like, which is basically online collaboration. That's a problem. But it has so many other things to offer that SharePoint, I'm sure, will not have. So, that will be an interesting issue to come up. It's not very good at providing stable and robust add-ins to Microsoft. That's a bit of a problem with Content Manager. They're kind of very volatile. So, that's been definitely something that could be improved.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The initial setup of Conga Composer is easy."
"We have seen a major return on investment after we implemented Conga Composer into our workflows and the organization."
"It's quite simple."
"In my 2.5 years of experience with Conga Composer, I can say that it was one of the best document generation tools that I have used in a very long time."
"The most valuable feature is the automatic generation of invoices and the ability to merge fields from Salesforce into the document, creating a clean and professional invoice."
"As an implementer, what stands out for me is that I've been on it for more than ten years now, so I kind of saw some change in the UI, and it's very nice."
"Conga Composer is very easy to use. It's easy to debug if you have an issue."
"The most valuable feature of Conga Composer is its user-friendly interface, which allows professionals to handle the product easily."
"The tool's implementation has made life easier for customers. It is sold by SAP. The integration between SAP and the solution is good, making it easy to access the documents. It is widely recognized as a market leader in enterprise document management."
"The product can be integrated with different solutions."
"I did not face issues with the product's scalability...The solution's technical support is good."
"An advantage is integration with your IP directory."
"Go for it."
"HPE Content Manager provides organizations with a reliable system for managing massive amounts of information, in a structured, compliant and secure way, with a level of functionality and reliability that I have not seen matched by custom-built or other systems."
"This is a wonderful product with many options."
"HPE Content Manager 9, and its predecessors, is an excellent EDRMS with a strong emphasis on record lifecycle and compliance with government standards."

Cons

"However, I would say that despite being easy to set up these templates, there are limitations around looping; some functionalities break when dealing with large templates, around 30 to 40 pages long, and even after working with support we ended up reducing the overall complexity of our template."
"One downside of Conga Composer is that it requires integration with other tools for the signing process. Apart from that, I find nothing major to be improved."
"If there could be a preview option available directly in the application for testing templates instead of having to download and test them manually, it would save time."
"The initial setup is at an intermediate level of difficulty since understanding Conga Composer for the first time can be confusing."
"The debugging skills could be improved as we need to stay alert for issues."
"Conga Composer can be improved because it has a steep learning curve, especially for new users."
"Honestly, when I was a consultant, Conga Composer was okay, but then when you went a bit outside and wanted to take Conga Sign, which was called Conga Sign back then, but maybe they changed the name now, all those things were getting very expensive."
"The biggest area where Conga needs improvement is its documentation. The documentation is good but not up to par with other platforms like Salesforce, which has extensive documentation and a helpful community."
"This web client requires more refinement to be viable as a desktop client replacement."
"Pricing is an issue, as it is too expensive."
"Users are intimidated by the Content Manager client application, especially when it comes to searching and managing content at an individual’s level."
"The stability of the solution is an area of concern where improvements can be made."
"Support could be enhanced. The first line of support consists of individuals who lack experience with some key aspects. When you create a support ticket, the time to resolve the issue may be prolonged because the first person may not understand the system or the solution."
"We now have 2 proxies, 5 distribution servers and about 40 IDOL engines with tons of data on CEs. It is a scalable solution, but we see performance degradation and maintenance nightmares."
"It has extensive configuration restrictions for administrators and file extension limitations. Clunky in look and feel."
"We have not yet utilized the web version, as we encountered a few issues during testing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think the tool costs around six dollars per user."
"It's not cheap, but it's not overly expensive either."
"Regarding pricing, I believe it’s around fifty dollars, but I’m not entirely sure. Overall, I find the pricing reasonable and am quite satisfied with the product. The value we get from it justifies the cost, as it requires minimal maintenance and is straightforward to use. The functionality it provides aligns well with the investment."
"I would suggest that you do a thorough evaluation of all competing products and look for support for these products in your local area."
"The solution's licensing cost depends on the customer domain. Though its costs are high, the product is worth the money. You have to pay a one-time cost and support costs."
"The fees incurred are for the licensing and maintenance."
"I rate the product price an eight or nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive. The solution is expensive."
