Effective collaboration and report presentation are enhanced with user-friendly tools
Pros and Cons
  • "Office 365 has been user-friendly and easy to learn, and collaboration tools such as Teams are very useful, especially when managing our projects and gathering feedback from stakeholders."
  • "There is something called Office Script in Excel, which is not very user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

We use Office 365 predominantly for reporting purposes. We extensively utilize Excel and PowerPoint. Excel is used for generating and analyzing reports, while PowerPoint is used to prepare presentations and offer analytical solutions and suggestions.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 has been user-friendly and easy to learn. In case of any new upgrade, it is quite possible to explore. Collaboration tools such as Teams are very useful, especially when managing our projects and gathering feedback from stakeholders. Tools in Teams, such as the app for tracking and following up with stakeholders, are notably useful.

What needs improvement?

There is something called Office Script in Excel, which is not very user-friendly. Many team members find it difficult to apply recorded scripts to similar tasks. More training material or use cases related to Office Script would be helpful to maximize its potential because it has the capability to automate many Excel tasks. Additionally, there is interest in AI integration, particularly Excel and PowerPoint's capabilities, but access to Copilot is limited due to licensing costs.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Office 365 for more than seven or eight years.

Integration of additional icons has improved work efficiency, but support accessibility remains challenging
Pros and Cons
  • "Office 365 is a pretty stable solution; it is in the cloud, so I can use all the documents that I have anywhere I want."
  • "To be very honest, we use Cute FTP to transfer most files, and if they had FTP portals which they could guarantee were secure, that would be a great help."

What is our primary use case?

I am just a user. It is on the cloud, so it is much better. I can use it wherever I want.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 is a pretty stable solution. It is in the cloud, so I can use all the documents that I have anywhere I want. There is one very good feature that I have. When I use SharePoint along with it, it makes life a lot easier for us, especially when I have to share documents or files with other clients.

What needs improvement?

There is really not much difference between Office 365 and standalone MS Office. However, regarding PowerPoint, while the icons are there, I wish it was as good as Apple's presentation software because it is easier to create PowerPoint presentations with Apple's equivalent software. They could have done better work if they had provided that functionality.

To be very honest, we use Cute FTP to transfer most files, and if they had FTP portals which they could guarantee were secure, that would be a great help. Then I would not have to start Cute FTP and perform all those operations. I do not know whether Office 365 has that functionality because I have not seen it, but it would have been quite beneficial if it was there.

For how long have I used the solution?

It is easy to deploy. It is not rocket science, but deploying information over the cloud is something that I am very skeptical about. I usually use Cute FTP or FTP-type solutions, as it is more secure compared to sending or sharing information. I do use cloud sharing, but only for documents that are not secretive or sensitive. I mainly use FTP to load or unload sensitive data. Other than that, insensitive data is just a matter of using a shared drive.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding productivity gains, we have no issues with Microsoft. It is a very good service that they provide. The only problem I have seen is that Windows 11 gives many problems, especially when it updates your software. Everything slows down, every application slows down. I have reverted back to Windows 10 because Microsoft Windows 11 is not working for me. Let us see how things work out.

How are customer service and support?

It is very difficult to get hold of Microsoft support people or any support people, including Amazon. There are too many automated processes that you need to go through, and even then you do not know whether you will be able to speak to them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

What other advice do I have?

It is pretty good, to be very honest. In PowerPoint, if I just use it as a standalone software, the number of icons available is comparatively less in standalone Microsoft PowerPoint compared to Office 365. Additionally, it is easier to integrate other icons into Office 365 than into normal, standalone PowerPoint presentation solutions. It is not that I cannot do it. We have developed a tool through which we can integrate it completely, but it took us a while to figure things out.

There is not much difference in Excel or Word, at least I have not come across much difference. We are not doing much with AI as yet.

AI features boost productivity but discovering Excel functionalities poses challenges
Pros and Cons
  • "The most helpful feature I find in Microsoft 365 is the use of AI features, like Copilot, which allows for creating PowerPoint presentations through AI."

We manage Windows platforms and experiment with AI-driven task automation effectively since using this solution
Pros and Cons
  • "Office 365 is comprehensive with its functionalities, and I am not currently missing anything."
  • "Microsoft's technical support is slow when addressing issues directly."

What is our primary use case?

We use Intune to have control over all our Windows units, to enroll packages, update software, and manage all Windows platforms in Denmark and Norway.

What is most valuable?

I use Outlook, Excel, and Word as the primary tools within Office 365. I have used automation and flow to enable a few simple tasks to learn how it works, but I have not enabled them at a high level yet. I am also experimenting with CoPilot in collaboration with AI solutions like ChatGPT.

What needs improvement?

It is difficult for me to access actual experts quickly as Microsoft support is slow.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Mobile Control platform from Soti since 2016.

How are customer service and support?

Microsoft's technical support is slow when addressing issues directly.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before using Soti, I was not working with any other Enterprise Mobility Management tools.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I was initially using Soti based on a perpetual license, but now I must move to a cloud solution due to changes in the licensing model. Pricing for Intune as an MDM solution is over budget.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I am considering 42Gears as a potential option because our local vendor, who understands our business well, has it available on their shelf.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Office 365 a nine out of ten. It is comprehensive with its functionalities, and I am not currently missing anything. I do intend to integrate its automation features at a higher level when possible. Overall, I would give Office 365 a nine out of ten.

Robust collaboration features improve document sharing and enhance productivity but integrating live collaboration could enhance efficiency
Pros and Cons
  • "Office 365 brings a very strong return on investment through time savings and different efficiencies."
  • "Office 365 could be improved in areas such as their collaboration functionality."

What is our primary use case?

I use Office 365 to make PowerPoint presentations, Microsoft Word to put together memos, and Excel for building financial models.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features with Office 365 are Excel's robustness around financial modeling, which is super helpful for my job.

Office 365 brings a very strong return on investment through time savings and different efficiencies. We would never cut it as it is table stakes - it is necessary to operate in our world. The biggest KPI is functionality, specifically the ability to execute the work that needs to be done.

What needs improvement?

Office 365 could be improved in areas such as their collaboration functionality. I have used it before, but being able to work on documents in a cloud-connected manner with co-workers simultaneously would be super helpful. This feature is not available in the version we have.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have approximately 15 years of experience with Office 365.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We haven't used a different collaboration tool before this; we've always had Microsoft. We currently have both Microsoft and Google Suite.

Some main differences between Microsoft and Google Suite are that Google is cloud native, enabling collaboration with people working on documents simultaneously. Google Sheets, compared to Excel, is not as robust. You sacrifice some robustness for sharing functionality. The same applies to PowerPoint versus Google Slides, where PowerPoint is much more powerful. The ability to work with others in a cloud native product is the selling point for Google Suite and represents a real benefit.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Office 365 to other businesses due to its robustness and functionality.

We haven't been using AI in Office 365 for document management or data analysis because we don't have Copilot, which is their AI feature. It hasn't been integrated into our work.
