Collaboration and communication thrive with exceptional integrated tools
What is our primary use case?
Office 365 is mainly used for communication in meetings and utilizing collaborative tools within my organization.
What is most valuable?
Office 365 is a good tool for daily tasks and collaborative activities. We mainly use Microsoft SharePoint, which integrates with other tools to facilitate collaboration such as file sharing among colleagues. Additionally, we use Teams and the email solutions provided within the Office 365 environment. The tool enhances productivity if the team is collaborative, helping us speed up work.
What needs improvement?
There should be RAM optimization related to Teams and desktop applications since they are very RAM hungry. Performance optimization should be prioritized to improve efficiency. Additionally, cost optimization should be considered due to the recent price hikes.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Office 365 from 2014 to 2023.

Works
Multi-user editing and integration with OneDrive brings better focus and efficiency
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable feature is the integration with OneDrive, which has allowed us, a small business, easy access to a cloud environment, with no need to back up the data from five different computers."
- "Integration between Outlook calendar and Google Calendar would be a good improvement since many of our team use Android phones and personal Gmail accounts as their main calendar application."
What is our primary use case?
Our team is comprised of five people in a small consultant firm. Office 365 allows for all team members to work on the same files at the same time on OneDrive while using the market standards (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for file editing and creation.
We've experimented with free options, but there is no point of trying to work in a file format that is different from that of our clients. That's the main reason that led us to Office 365.
All of our workstations are Windows 10 and Office runs perfectly.
How has it helped my organization?
Easy sharing of files between team members in different locations, using both OneDrive and Office 365 (desktop and online), has improved efficiency by two times. Before using this solution, we had to rely on email to send files back and forth. No more renaming a document V1, V2, V10, Vn. Just open, edit, and let the seamless integration of Office and OneDrive deal with versions and edits.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is the integration with OneDrive, which has allowed us, a small business, easy access to a cloud environment, with no need to back up the data from five different computers.
The multiple-user editing capability is helpful, improving the productivity of our team on creating and editing files together, even when in different physical locations.
File formats that are the market standard (docx, xlsx, pptx), is an important and relevant need to deal with clients' provided files.
What needs improvement?
In general, the desktop apps could be a little leaner and open faster in less powerful machines.
The interface for Outlook could use a refresh, to make it more like the other software in the suite.
Integration between Outlook calendar and Google Calendar would be a good improvement since many of our team use Android phones and personal Gmail accounts as their main calendar application.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using this solution for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Office 365 is very stable. Actually, it is more stable than other similar solutions we have tried in the past (Libre Office).
How are customer service and technical support?
MS has excellent support and tech support. They really engage in solving the issues you might have with the software.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We tried Google Docs, but it messed the formatting on our complex - designed - documents. We have also tried Libre Office, but with similar results. Only by using Office 365 were we able to read and create documents without any formatting issues.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was easy and our team handled it by themselves. MS support gave some advice when needed.
What about the implementation team?
We handled the implementation in-house.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We did not evaluate options beyond Google Docs and Libre Office. Once we understood that there was no point on going against the market standard for file formats, we went straight to Office 365.
What other advice do I have?
If you need, reach out to MS support. They were really helpful in setting things up for our team.

Collaboration tools have streamlined our teamwork with real-time and asynchronous editing
What is our primary use case?
I work with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word primarily. My work involves collaboration with multiple people, especially when using these tools.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features of Office 365 for me involve collaboration. My work requires collaboration with multiple people on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. We use real-time collaboration as well as asynchronous work, where I can continue from where someone else left off. Additionally, automation features like formulas and linkages in Excel save me substantial time, at least forty to fifty percent in certain tasks.
What needs improvement?
One issue I face is that as the file size gets bigger, it takes more time to work through it. Improvement in backend processing to make such files run quicker would be helpful.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Office tools for twelve to thirteen years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I don't have any complaints about the stability of Office 365.
How are customer service and support?
I haven't felt the need to contact Microsoft support, so I haven't interacted with their customer service.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
The setup was straightforward for me because my company has it pre-built.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I would rate this tool at around 8.5 to nine out of ten. I rate the overall solution a nine.

Great for building formulas, good integration with other apps, and very stable
Pros and Cons
- "The integration with other applications is pretty good."
- "If two people update the same file, it causes issues."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use the solution for Excel, for analyzing data, and PowerPoint, for presentations.
What is most valuable?
There aren't any features that jump out at me as being valuable.
The Excel application's ability to handle spreadsheets and calculations if very useful.
The integration with other applications is pretty good.
What needs improvement?
There's a matter of sharing with other users. If someone is working on it or disconnects from the mutual storage, I need to save it as is and I need to override it. I cannot work together with other users on the same document. That may be possible on the cloud version of Office 365, however, I'm not sure as we use the desktop version. This is one issue we have with the solution.
If two people update the same file, it causes issues.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've only been at this company for three months, and two months in the office. I've been using Office 365 since I arrived.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is quite stable. I haven't had any issues so fr. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't freeze or crash. It's very reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I'm not sure if scalability is an issue for this kind of application.
In our organization, there are hundreds or maybe even thousands of users. Everybody probably has some instance of it, whether it's on the cloud or on-prem. it's pretty prevalent across departments.
We are a huge company. For all of the applications we use, we have 20-30 people engaging in the support of all the projects, and not this solution in particular.
My understanding is the organization is planning to move exclusively to Office 365 and probably to the cloud. That's the next step we are taking.
How are customer service and technical support?
I have never personally dealt with technical support, however, I believe it to be quite good.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I don't believe the organization used a different product before this solution was implemented.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was straightforward. It wasn't complex at all. However, I'm used to working in the Microsoft environment.
I'm not sure how long deployment actually takes.
What about the implementation team?
I don't know if we used an integrator or reseller to assist in the installation of the product, as I only really started at the company a few months ago.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I don't deal with accounting, so I'm unsure as to what the licensing costs would be.
What other advice do I have?
We're a Microsoft customer. We don't have a business relationship with them.
I believe I'm using the 2019 version of the solution.
While this version is on-premise, it's my understanding that the organization is testing the cloud version for future deployment.
I would certainly recommend this product to others.
I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Executive Director at Onsearch
Presents information in a clear way for users and provides a good ERP for services but not for logic systems
Pros and Cons
- "The way the ERP presents information for the user is very good."
- "Normally, they have a way to work with specific developments, and I think they shouldn't allow the partners to make some changes they have made. When I have a client with a lot of changes, we have a problem with that because there aren't rules to develop inside the ERP, so you can do anything."
What is our primary use case?
I am using the new version, which they launched at the beginning of this year in Portugal. Business Central is the new version of the ERP for Microsoft.
The solution can be deployed on a public cloud and on-premises.
My company implements the solution, but the clients I do projects for usually have 50-60 users.
What is most valuable?
The way the ERP presents information for the user is very good.
What needs improvement?
I'm working with logistics a lot, and I'm seeing that the Business Center is not so good because I've been working in IT since 1984, so I have some experience in logistic systems. Three years ago, I had a project with a big client here in Portugal and I started using Microsoft Navision, which is the old version of Microsoft ERP. Now we are changing to Business Center, but it's not very good.
I think Office 365 is a good ERP for services but not so good for businesses, for industries, or for logistic systems. Those areas could be improved.
I'm not happy with how Microsoft Office 365 works. Normally, they have a way to work with specific developments, and I think they shouldn't allow the partners to make some changes they have made. When I have a client with a lot of changes, we have a problem with that because there aren't rules to develop inside the ERP, so you can do anything. I think that's not a good point.
I think SAP is very well prepared for that compared to Microsoft because it has the rules that departments have to follow. So, there should be more rules regarding restrictions for partners.
Procurement could also be improved.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for about three years.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability depends on the service area. For example, the scalability is good for the public sector, banks, and companies that are doing projects. For businesses like that, it's very useful. But for industrial and logic sectors, it's not scalable.
There are some simple ERPs that are much better than Microsoft Navision and Business Center. For scalability, SAP is much more powerful than Microsoft.
How are customer service and support?
I would rate technical support 4 out of 5.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I worked with SAP for three years. For maybe 15 years, I worked with another Portuguese ERP.
I switched to Microsoft because I started working for a multinational company. The problem is that for software that is made locally in Portugal, if you start a project with a company, you are stuck with that company. You can't change solutions, so you have a big investment in that kind of process.
I think it's better to work with international products, because if you don't like that partner, you can switch to another partner. I think that is the best reason for one company to choose software that is implemented with lots of tech companies, because you can change and use another company.
How was the initial setup?
Initial setup is very easy.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Some clients are starting to choose to pay monthly, and I think it's easier for them to understand the impact of the cost to the company.
I would rate the solution 3 out of 5 for the price. I think Microsoft presents a good solution concerning the price.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate this solution 5 out of 10.
For someone who wants to implement this solution, my advice is to ask your company to study the business and the needs of the project really well before choosing it.
When a company wants to buy a solution, they usually don't understand what they want. They know they have some reasons to change or buy a new solution, but normally they are not very well prepared for a change. I think companies should make a study and then choose the best solution for their company's needs.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Hybrid Cloud

Cloud Security Lead at a security firm with 1-10 employees
Extremely reliable with an all-encompassing suite of features
Pros and Cons
- "Reliable without any glitches."
- "Could include integration with other single sign-on solutions."
What is our primary use case?
My use case is mainly the email solution of Office 365. I use the exchange online for my emails, corporate emails. I use OneDrive for saving my data on the internet, and the other good features are Excel, Word and PowerPoint online, which allows me to create online documents. I also sometimes use Microsoft Teams within Office 365. We generally use Teams for our video conference meetings and presentation meetings. We also sometimes use SharePoint to share documents with people outside our organization. I am a cloud security lead and we are users of Office 365.
What is most valuable?
What I like most about Office 365 is its reliability and that I haven't experienced any outages, it's always worked fine for me. It also has a unique 'giving' feature in that if I go for Office 365 licensing for a particular license level, Microsoft also offers me other services along with Office 365.
What needs improvement?
The product could be improved if there was integration with other single sign-on solutions that are available on the market. I'd also like to see integration with other privileged identity or access management solutions. If there are only particular solutions that we have to go with and other market leaders have other solutions that we'd like, then that becomes costly. If they came up with more access or solution integrations that were less expensive, then that would be helpful.
Microsoft should come up with some documentation or presentation related to specific use cases. There are times when companies or organizations migrate to Office 365, but they are not aware of each and every feature that's available and that they could be using. I think they should have special feature-based training sessions, where information can be shared with users. It can be subdivided into departments whether it's accounting, HR, technical.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using this solution for more than five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I think this is a very stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This is a scalable solution. You just need to invest in the new added user licenses and get those onboard. It is on your tenant ID, which is already created. So I guess scalability is quite easy in Office 365. You can go in for new licenses every year and easily scale up. My organization currently has between 400-500 users of this product. We have a team of two or three who deal with it. We plan to increase usage and we already give training sessions on usage of this product on a use case basis depending on the department you're working in.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is quite good from Microsoft.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We were using G-Suite before this but G-Suite doesn't have the features that Office 365 offers. We have access to Teams, video conferencing, SharePoint and all the other features which is why we thought it was a better solution for us.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was straightforward. I think deployment took around one and a half months. and the strategy was to get a batch of users first migrated to Office 365 and then continue in batches until everyone was on board. We worked directly with Microsoft for the deployment.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate this solution a nine out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

- "Office 365 could be easier to use at first. Tutorials are needed to know how to use the solution."
What is our primary use case?
I use Office 365 mostly got Excel and Word.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of Office 365 is automatic saving. If something happens on the computer your work is saved.
What needs improvement?
Office 365 could be easier to use at first. Tutorials are needed to know how to use the solution.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Office 365 for many years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of Office 365 is very good.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Office 365 is good, if more than one person is using it, it works well.
We have approximately 100 people using this solution in my company.
How are customer service and support?
I have not used the support from Office 365.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Office 365 is straightforward and very easy.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to those wanting to implement Office 365 for the first time is they should take the tutorial first because they need to learn what to do with the solution.
I rate Office 365 a nine out of ten.
