Excellent cloud connectivity, with a single console that can be monitored and managed from any location in the world.
Pros and Cons
  • "All IPs can be managed and monitored by the customer from a single console."
  • "We would like to see a better licensing model for our customers."

What is our primary use case?

We recently proposed a Ruckus solution using Cisco switches, in our local area. We have a local network for Cisco switches that we can help implement, as well as wireless connectivity that we are proposing. For a better wifi experience, we proposed a Ruckus solution.

What is most valuable?

It has great features.

It also has cloud connectivity. All IPs can be managed and monitored by the customer from a single console. They will also manage and share the various regions' IPs and locations all over the world. However, a single console can be monitored and managed from anywhere in the world.

What needs improvement?

We would like to see a better licensing model for our customers.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been providing Ruckus Wireless for a couple of months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Ruckus Wireless is scalable.

We have three or four clients who currently use Ruckus Wireless.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is fine.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also provide Cisco Catalyst Switches, and Alcatel switches for customers. We are gold partners with Alcatel which is why we work with Alcatel products such as PBX, network switches, and WiFi.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is straightforward.

I can take a week to install.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Commercially Ruckus for its features, its pricing is expensive for the customer. Customers go back and forth with the pricing, but we convince them that it is beneficial to include features.

Licensing is subscription-based.

What other advice do I have?

This solution is provided by a team of three engineers at the upper and management levels.

I would recommend this solution to others who are interested in using it.

I would rateRuckus Wireless an eight out of ten.

Easy to set up with good reliability and responsive technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "In general, all implementations are standard and pretty straightforward."
  • "The solution could include more security features."

What is our primary use case?

We are an integrator; our function is to sell Ruckus solutions to our clients and to implement the solution for them. It's a good solution for wireless WiFi connectivity.

What is most valuable?

Our clients are in the hospitality industry and it's been very good at meeting their needs. The WiFi connections are good.

In general, all implementations are standard and pretty straightforward. These implementations typically cover the connection to the corporate network integrated with Microsoft's Active Directory and other services that bring network access to the clients so that it's easy to get onto the internet.

The stability has been good.

We find the solution to be scalable.

Technical support is responsive and knowledgeable.

What needs improvement?

The solution could include more security features. For example, with other solutions, there is a security feature added to connect to the internet. In the case of Ruckus, they don't have any security solution to connect to the internet. Clients want more security, which is why it's important Ruckus begins to think of ways to offer more robust connection options that will help customers feel safer.

For how long have I used the solution?

Just two weeks ago I implemented a Ruckus Wireless solution for our client. I deal with it regularly. In general, I have about three years of experience with the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is great. It's reliable and the performance is good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution has scaled well. A customer shouldn't have any issues expanding the product.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support has been very good. In any situation where I have had to reach out, they have been quick to respond and my issues were resolved in a timely manner. We are quite satisfied with their level of attention and knowledge.

How was the initial setup?

The initial implementations have been standard and straightforward. It's not overly complex or difficult.

What about the implementation team?

As integrators, we are able to assist our clients in the initial setup process.

What other advice do I have?

We are integrator of Ruckus. We offer Ruckus solutions to our clients.

I'm not sure of the exact version number I last installed, however, it was the latest solution that covers smartphones. It had the wireless controller of Ruckus and different equipment covering WiFi 5 and WiFi 6.

I would recommend this solution to others.

I'd give it a rating of nine out of ten. We've been very pleased with it overall.

Provides superior coverage and is very dependable
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution provides superior coverage."
  • "The solution currently lacks the integration of security services."

What is our primary use case?

We have different use cases for this solution. We deploy it for many of our customers in a variety of organizations including financial, manufacturing and retail. The use case depends on the needs of an organization. We are resellers.

What is most valuable?

The solution provides superior coverage and works as it should without any issues.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see the integration of security services that you'd find in Fortinet, for example, where you have the ability to integrate the firewall with it. I'd like to see some sort of security-specific platform that you find in many other solutions where there is a security gateway or something similar. For now, we deal with this by combining additional solutions with Ruckus.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This is a relatively more expensive product.

What other advice do I have?

Until now, our company has mainly used Ruckus but of late we're moving more to Fortinet Wi-Fi.

I rate this solution 10 out of 10.

Stable with good performance and connectivity
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has many innovative features."
  • "The pricing needs to be more clear and licensing could be less expensive."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for wireless connectivity.

What is most valuable?

The solution has many innovative features.

The stability is good.

We find the implementation process simple and straightforward.

The performance and connectivity are good.

What needs improvement?

Technical support has been really bad since Ruckus was acquired by another company.

The pricing needs to be more clear and licensing could be less expensive.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution for more than five years. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. There are no issues with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have more than ten customers on Ruckus currently.

How are customer service and support?

Since Ruckus was acquired, I have heard that support is not as good. Even as integrators, we couldn't get the support we needed. Therefore, we've started to move away from this product.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We've worked with Cisco, Aruba, and Huawei as well. We have system integrators for all these three solutions. We also have used it in our offices.

How was the initial setup?

As integrators, we have to know how to install it, and about configuration, as well as how to handle portal access and everything. We have to install it in our own organization first before putting it in the customer space. That's why we have the capabilities to implement it and it's not too hard for us.

It was a straightforward installation. Actually, other than Ruckus, all other installations are a little bit tricky. Ruckus was really good when I installed it five years back. Recently, if you go for Cisco or even Aruba and Huawei, they have some tricky configurations. With a controller, there is a different configuration. If you wanted to use it as a standalone solution, there is a different configuration as well.

Specifically, Cisco is very bad when it comes to installations. It can take three to seven days to sort out issues, to convert to emails, and to put in a support request, then they will help and everything. Though you will get good support from Cisco support, the process is not good. Aruba is definitely good. Ruckus is the easiest.

We have 4% of our team dedicated to Wi-Fi and Network. We that three engineers, that include me, plus a manager.

What about the implementation team?

As implementors, we are able to help our clients with the initial setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

After all of the acquisitions and mergers, the pricing has been a bit of a mess. They need to work to fix it.

There are no subscription fees for Ruckus.

What other advice do I have?

We are integrators.

We are using the latest version of the solution.

Laptops and phones, all kinds of wireless devices, are at every office these days. Having a Wi-Fi network is really important. You need it as well to connect to meetings and IoT solutions.

Due to evolving technologies in Wi-Fi, we are now getting more than one GBPS throughput. Even on the LAN, for accessing the applications, having something that can increase or guarantee connectivity is crucial.

Ruckus, as a company, offers an absolute good product. The features they came up with weren't even offered by Cisco. The performance that we were getting made it so that we have replaced Cisco in a number of use cases. However, once support dropped off, we started to shift to Huawei and back to Cisco. We also occasionally work with Aruba.

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. It's the best solution on the market.

However, due to the issues surrounding support, I would not necessarily recommend Ruckus. I'd likely recommend Aruba, which is also quite good. Aruba has very good support. They have very good access points and different models with different licenses. Overall, it is really good.

Flexible and reasonably priced with good technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The scalability has been very good."
  • "It would be ideal if the solution offered more features."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for a variety of companies, including those in transportation and the government sector as well. It's used for wireless access.

What is most valuable?

Overall, we are very satisfied with its capabilities.

The pricing is very reasonable.

It is flexible.

It contains almost all of the new features that solutions require for wireless access.

The scalability has been very good.

Technical support has been good.

What needs improvement?

It would be ideal if the solution offered more features.

The product could use more integration capabilities.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for a while now. We use it continuously, on different projects.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We've installed the solution for many clients so far.

We find the solution to be very scalable. I'd rate the scalability at about an eight or a nine out of ten.

We have ten employees that work directly with the product.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have been satisfied with technical support, they have been helpful and responsive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use solutions such as Juniper, Cisco Meraki, Ruckus, and Extreme. We are an independent integrator company, so we use the best solution for the customer.

How was the initial setup?

The time it takes to install the solution depends on the number of the EPs. We are speaking about the settings, not the manual installation. If we are speaking about the configuration, it takes one day in most cases.

We have a team of ten that can handle deployment and maintenance tasks. They are all engineers.

What about the implementation team?

We handle the implementation process for our clients.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is reasonably priced as compared to, for example, Cisco, which is much more expensive.

Customers need to pay a yearly licensing fee.

What other advice do I have?

Every month we have different installation projects. Sometimes we use Ruckus if the customer is satisfied with this solution. Usually, we suggest things to the customer based on if the price and if a client is price-conscious they tend to choose this, as opposed to Cisco, which is more expensive.

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. We have been happy with it so far.

I'd recommend the solution to other users and organizations.
