I think that the scalability is very good. We can't compare it. The only problem that users may face with Veeam, is if people do not size it correctly, which can cause performance issues.
Cloud backup on AWS Azure is also fantastic. It backs up applications, such as Oracle SAP, as well.

The technical support is very good. They provide solutions immediately and they tell the customer exactly what is wrong.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive.
The price of Micro Focus will beat Veeam, but then you're missing one or two functionalities which is good to have for disaster recovery.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Veeam Backup a 10 out of 10.

Veeam Backup does not interfere with your environment. It's got those facilities, which are very good.
Acronis has been a long time player on the images and in block-based backups. I can't think of any improvements yet for Veeam because they are very good. It integrates very well with Microsoft applications. It is very easy to integrate. Micro Focus can also integrate but it's more complex. You have to know the product very well to be able to integrate. While Veeam, it's very user-friendly. You don't need to have certifications or anything to work on Veeam.

Scalability is very good. The only problem that might occur with Veeam is if people do not size it correctly, they can get performance issues. If you don't do the right thing, you always have those types of problems anyway.
Backing up to the cloud, AWS or Azure is fantastic. It's really good. It also backs up applications as well like Oracle, SAP, and so forth. Veeam is a good backup solution.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is excellent. If you're on the right support level, they provide a solution immediately. They tell the customer exactly what is wrong. Compared to Micro Focus Data Protector, they've got good engineers to help you, but I think Veeam is much quicker and more helpful in resolving a problem.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
If I had to choose visualization between Micro Focus Data Protector and Veeam, I would choose Veeam. It's a much better product. The functionalities for the end-user are much easier. It is a good product for an enterprise, but it's not that user-friendly like Veeam is. The functionalities that Veeam offers are fantastic. It's a very good product.
In terms of virtualization, I would recommend Veeam over Data Protector. Definitely. Even for hybrid, I would still recommend Veeam. Although, the Data Protector hybrid environment is also not bad. But the problem is the complexity.
Micro Focus is developing the virtualization side. You can't compare it with Veeam. The storage and backing up the environment are much easier on Veeam than Data Protector. Veeam is much more ahead at the moment.
Data Protector is not user-friendly. It's more complex. You need to know the product very well to be able to do backups or restores.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price is reasonable compared to NetBackup, Backup Exec, Dell, Micro Focus, or Acronis, then Veeam is lower in price.
Micro Focus's pricing is not too bad either because they changed the licensing model.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Veeam Backup Replication a ten out of ten.
In the next release, I would like for them to have block-based backups as well. But I don't know if they will do that because they've got all the functionalities to restore a system and it's working. If they would put it in, that would be fantastic, it will maybe even improve the performance when backing up.
I would rate Acronis an eight out of ten. They're missing a lot and are still not very user-friendly.

While I'd advise others to look at other companies to compare, I do recommend Veeam. It's my understanding that 60% of IT companies use Veeam. It's very popular.
Overall, I'd rate the solution six out of ten if I were to compare it to other versions of Veeam products. It's an okay solution. If it had an automatic check for backups, I'd rate it much higher.

I am extremely satisfied with stability. You can make sure that every backup is 100% recoverable, which is a feature that I and my team are very grateful for. It is something that is not available in most solutions, as far as I have seen.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Veeam is easily scalable. I had a couple of cases where I had to scale from small to medium to enterprise-level organizations. There were thousands of nodes and it was easy to do. It took between a couple of hours and a day or two, depending on the size of the deployment.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is good, although there are very few complaints. Issues are normally resolved within 24 to 72 hours.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used similar solutions by vendors such as Commvault.
Veeam is much more flexible and easier to use. With Commvault, you need an additional technician to launch or deploy anything. It requires a lot of time just to set it up. Also, Commvault is more expensive.

The initial setup is simple and straightforward without the need for more complex preparations.

In-house and vendor team - expertise was on a level and did not require extensive amounts of time.

We estimate our ROI within 1,9 - 2,3 years.

Each solution has its own points that are good but in cost-optimization, Veeam is a good price and it is very easy to deploy for both us and our partners.
What other advice do I have?
My advice for anybody who is implementing this solution is to make sure that the sizing is correct. Having good or perfect sizing is the best thing that somebody can do for their company, and, if possible, to put more funds into analytics reporting so that they can provide intelligent sizing in advance. In fact, the biggest lesson that I have learned from using this solution is that you never want to have the wrong sizing.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with this product.
I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.
