Good document storage and email support, and helps to keep us organized
Pros and Cons
  • "All the development that they've done in Teams recently has been great."
  • "I would like to see a connection between their planner board, and a project for the web would be better."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for document storage, email, all connected platforms, instead of the Power Platform, we use that pretty heavily. We use Microsoft Project in combination with it, for communication.

How has it helped my organization?

Microsoft 365 business has helped us organize.

I'm a project manager. It helped us organize with all of our teamwork. We can go into Teams, we can set up a team that gives us the backend SharePoint, and it gives us a centralized place to communicate and go back and forth so that everybody can stay up to date.

It's easy to email the group, as well, since you have the team created.

What is most valuable?

All the development that they've done in Teams recently has been great. The enhanced collaboration, the ability to set up different spaces within Teams for a project, project creation, and the SharePoint behind it. All of that has been really great.

What needs improvement?

Communication regarding updates is an area that can be improved. They've rolled out a lot of updates right now, but we don't know that they're coming. A feature will look different or behave just a little bit differently from day to day, and while most of the updates are great, having some sort of advanced notice that that update was coming and what they changed would be helpful.

We would like some documentation regarding the updates.

I would like to see a connection between their planner board, and a project for the web would be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for five and a half years.

I am using the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Had you asked me two months ago, I would have said just fine, but I know Microsoft has had some issues recently.

I would say that it's fairly stable, but I think that all the increased traffic from COVID and people working from home has resulted in it being less stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is very good. It's an easily scalable solution.

We have approximately 200 users on every level of our organization and it's been extensively used.

We have plans to increase, possibly through the integration of the Microsoft Power Platform.

How are customer service and support?

I have not had to connect with Microsoft support. I've been able to solve everything myself or internally.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, we have not used another solution. It's pretty much been Microsoft the whole way.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was fairly straightforward.

I didn't help set it up. I don't know what the timeline was for setting it up.

What about the implementation team?

I suspect they probably used a consultant to help get everything set up, but I don't know that for sure.

What was our ROI?

We have seen a return of investment with using Microsoft 365 Business.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not aware of what we pay at this time.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend that they review the licensing and the abilities. It's not difficult to add to things after that, but you may get some additional features if you decide to upgrade your licensing.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten, because it does absolutely everything that I need it to, and it has the ability to do more, but it's not necessarily the most straightforward.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Microsoft Azure

Well-integrated, reasonable price, and good stability, but Microsoft Teams should have better performance and SharePoint should have more features
Pros and Cons
  • "Everything gets integrated. Different services that they provide are well integrated into the entire system, which is the biggest strength of Microsoft products. Everything works together. If I create a Microsoft Teams theme, I get a SharePoint site and planner. Everything, including permissions, is scoped, which is really nice."
  • "Microsoft Teams, which is a video conferencing, chat, and collaboration tool, has some issues with video codecs. It has really bad performance, especially on the Mac OS, and requires a lot of improvements. I'm using MacBook Pro, and the performance of Microsoft Teams is disastrous. It is really unusable. Given our subscription, we get Microsoft Teams for free, but we are often opting to use Zoom or some other tool because the entire computer becomes almost unusable. New age applications should be written in a way that ensures similar performance across different operating systems. I'm not sure how it works on Windows. I assume it works better, but Microsoft needs to ensure that the performance is really good. It should provide the same kind of user experience across different platforms. They can use more efficient development tools when it comes to applications. They seem to be using a technology that uses a lot of resources on our personal computers. I know that Microsoft is pushing a lot of applications to be built in the Office 365 ecosystem, but Microsoft Teams should be a focus because it is a collaboration tool. Its performance and usability need to be better, especially in the times of COVID-19. As a part of management, I use the collaboration tools and video conferencing tools for approximately five or six hours a day. Such issues have a big business impact because the management makes decisions about the tools that are going to be used within the company. SharePoint could somehow be improved or changed to match the features of Confluence from Atlassian. There is an opportunity to do some improvements there."

What is our primary use case?

We are using it for file sharing, office applications, email, and SharePoint.

How has it helped my organization?

We use Microsoft solutions for everything that we do. A part of our software development is done in .NET using Visual Studio and development tools. We use Azure Cloud Platform, and we are also providing services to our client's clients. It would be hard to imagine using something else because we are so used to using Microsoft tools. It is something that you count on having.

What is most valuable?

Everything gets integrated. Different services that they provide are well integrated into the entire system, which is the biggest strength of Microsoft products. Everything works together. If I create a Microsoft Teams theme, I get a SharePoint site and planner. Everything, including permissions, is scoped, which is really nice.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams, which is a video conferencing, chat, and collaboration tool, has some issues with video codecs. SharePoint could somehow be improved or changed to match the features of Confluence from Atlassian. There is an opportunity to do some improvements there.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for six or seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable if we exclude the issues with Microsoft Teams. I am the technical director of a company that has 130 employees. I don't remember experiencing any kind of issues. There was an outage for a very short period of time about three months ago, but it was nothing bad. Its stability is great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. Everything that we use is based on a cloud source. It is pretty scalable, especially for our needs.

It is used by the entire company. It is an official tool for document management and business apps. We have 130 employees. Its usage will increase. We have the intention to grow as a company, so we will increase its usage accordingly.

How are customer service and technical support?

We didn't have too much of a need for technical support or any kind of support, but when we needed it, it was okay. I don't remember which support plan we are subscribed to, but it works okay.

How was the initial setup?

It is pretty much straightforward. It cannot be configured for the first time by someone who is not trained to configure it. You need help from basically your cloud service provider (CSP). Your CSP will provide resources to do the initial configurations. Such tools are not easy to configure for the first time, but everything else is pretty much intuitive. If you have an IT background, it should be intuitive and easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Its price is what you would expect today from a software-as-a-service offering. It is somewhere around $10 per user per month.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise making sure that someone experienced with Microsoft Office 365 platform and ecosystem is leading your organization. Otherwise, find a great partner to help you and guide you through the implementation process.

I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a seven out of ten. A couple of things can be better.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Cloud-based, feature-rich, and stable
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the ease of use."
  • "They need more tutorial training about using the advanced features."

What is our primary use case?

This solution is used for business. You can type letters and spreadsheets, you also use it for emails using Outlook.

What is most valuable?

I like the ease of use.

It's very stable and feature-rich. I can't see that it needs a lot of development.

What needs improvement?

They need more tutorial training about using the advanced features. It would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft 365 Business for six months.

We are using the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is an area that I have not explored, but it seems to be scalable.

We have between 100 and 200 users who are using this solution.

We plan to continue using this solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have not contacted technical support. We have not needed technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had not used any other solution previously.

How was the initial setup?

There is no installation, it's on the cloud.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The license is billed on a yearly basis.

I am not aware of the cost, but it is definitely not cheap.

What other advice do I have?

It's come a long way in terms of evolution.

I would rate Microsoft 365 Business an eight out of ten.

User-friendly with a straightforward setup and good scalability potential
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is extremely straightforward."
  • "It's a bit complex in itself when you get into items such as security or compliance."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for email, collaboration, some business applications like Sharepoint, and the Exchange server.

How has it helped my organization?

For example, we have depended heavily on it for our remote work capability, we have worked 100% remotely since the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

What is most valuable?

The email on offer is very nice. It's very easy to use. We've enjoyed that aspect so far. It's very clearly laid out.

We can easily collaborate between users with. We can share and work on documents, for example.

The solution has the capabilities to help me organize my week.

The product is very proactive. They know there are issues before we report them and they alert us to the fact that they are working to fix things.

For the most part, the solution is very user-friendly.

The initial setup is extremely straightforward.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft is having some issues now and therefore it may not be the best time to evaluate them. However, they acknowledge that they have the issues. They are working to fix things.

The stability is a real issue right now. It's something that they need to fix.

It's a bit complex in itself when you get into items such as security or compliance. That said, if you're knowledgeable it's no trouble. We are excited to see the end result after the various roll outs that MS is currently carrying on.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for years. It's been a long time. I have quite a bit of experience with the product.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is not so good. It's an aspect of the solution we really don't like. They need to work on this. There is some stability, however, there are some issues with integrations. I am assuming that these recent stability issues stem from the various rollouts and integration activities that MS is carrying out to better improve the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution scales easily. If you want to add people, you simply add them. However, that means you need to buy more licenses, so your cost will go up.

How are customer service and technical support?

Support can be a bit better, however, they are quite good at being proactive. Usually, they know there is a problem before we do, and by the time we reach out they are working on a fix of some sort.

Some of their support is AI as well, which means that over time, as it learns, it will get better and more effective. Basically, it needs to be a bit more robust. It needs to be more flexible in terms of understanding what you're looking for. That will likely come /improve with time.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did use Outlook and Exchange, however, the ease of managing a SaaS versus on-prem meant it was more scalable and it's easy to manage. We didn't have to bother with any back-end integration.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex at all. It was straightforward for our team. Basically, you log in online and download the software and everything is basically automatically set up so it's easy. You don't have to worry about complexities.

The deployment just takes a few minutes. It's very fast and easy. Of course, the download time depends on the speed of your internet.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the process ourselves. We did not need the assistance of an integrator or consultant. It was all done in-house.

What was our ROI?

A bit of a tough one to calculate for MS365 but I would say that it is positive, very positive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing is flexible. You can pay yearly or monthly. It's up to you.

The overall cost is relative. There aren't a lot of other mainstream options, except for maybe Google Email.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Google Apps

What other advice do I have?

We are using the latest version of the solution at this point. I cannot recall the exact version number, however. It may be the 2019 release.

Currently, we have about 30 people on our team.

We do plan to continue to use the solution going forward. We have no plans to change to something else.

I'd recommend this solution to other organizations. I would rate it at an 8 out of 10. The collaboration capabilities we have now are amazing. We really appreciate what it empowers us to achieve.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Stable, good interface, and good performance, but needs better pricing
Pros and Cons
  • "Its interface looks clean, and its performance seems quite fast. It is faster than our previous app."
  • "Its price could be better for companies that are not using it massively."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for normal office applications.

What is most valuable?

Its interface looks clean, and its performance seems quite fast. It is faster than our previous app.

What needs improvement?

Its price could be better for companies that are not using it massively.

For how long have I used the solution?

We started to use it around last year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I don't know if it is scalable or not. In terms of users, we are in the transition process to upgrade to this solution. Currently, not all users are using it. If it is given to our whole staff, we would have 30,000 users. We plan to keep using this solution and expand its usage.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have our own technical team, and we contact them for any issues. If they need further help with a specific issue, they contact Microsoft support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have been using only Microsoft products. We were earlier using the other version of Office.

What about the implementation team?

It was done by our technical team. We don't need a team to manage this. We just need to manage the license and contract. We have a small team that does the license and contract management.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have an enterprise license, and we get some price off for that. Its price could be better for companies that are not using it massively.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution. I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Stable, very scalable, easy to set up, and extremely useful for office productivity
Pros and Cons
  • "Microsoft Teams is most valuable. It is a great product, and it has really been very valuable for us during the pandemic. It enabled good collaboration. Even after the pandemic, we will continue to use Microsoft Team in our organization. They are continuously improving the product, which is a very positive thing."
  • "It should have better pricing. It is a monopoly product for Microsoft, and I don't think they will change the pricing. They do not offer any discount."

What is our primary use case?

It has Exchange, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It also has SharePoint that is used for sharing documents. It has Microsoft Teams, which is used for collaboration. All these are extremely useful for office productivity.

How has it helped my organization?

We have recently increased its usage. We are also using Microsoft Teams now. We are very happy with this solution, particularly with Microsoft Teams because it has enabled us to collaborate very well with our colleagues during the pandemic. The collaboration within the company has been really great through Microsoft Teams

What is most valuable?

Microsoft Teams is most valuable. It is a great product, and it has really been very valuable for us during the pandemic. It enabled good collaboration. Even after the pandemic, we will continue to use Microsoft Teams in our organization.

They are continuously improving the product, which is a very positive thing.

What needs improvement?

It should have better pricing. It is a monopoly product for Microsoft, and I don't think they will change the pricing. They do not offer any discount.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using it for a long time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is quite stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very scalable. For MS Office Business, we have 70 to 80 users. We are also using basic MS Office that has online Word and Excel. We have a total of about 350 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

We didn't need any support so far. We are a tech company, and we are able to solve 99% of problems at our end. We don't have to go to Microsoft.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have tried different online products for office tools, but nothing matches the quality of Office 365.

How was the initial setup?

Because it is in the cloud, you can access it through a browser. There is also an application for Microsoft Teams. You just have to download the application and log in. It connects to the cloud server, and you can start using it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is certainly expensive, but you need it, so you pay for it. There is not much price negotiation, but the product is good. We're going to keep using it despite it being expensive. There isn't any good alternative.

What other advice do I have?

I would absolutely recommend this solution. We'll continue to use it. We have also started to use Power BI.

I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a nine out of ten.

Stable with good dashboards and an easy initial setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The stability of the product is excellent."
  • "The pricing of the solution could be better."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use the solution for email.

What is most valuable?

The solution's dashboard is its most valuable aspect.

The product is very user-friendly in general. It's not complicated to use. They've made everything very easy and intuitive.

The product is very direct. Having the application on the phone, downloading it to your mobile device, makes it also easier to connect to your email, to receive an email, and of course, send emails. Since it's on your device, you can use it remotely and have access to everything you need.

The product is very secure. It's safe to use and Microsoft offers good security to protect its users.

The stability of the product is excellent.

You can scale the solution if you need to.

The initial setup is not a complicated process. The cloud makes it very easy.

What needs improvement?

The pricing of the solution could be better. They should work to make the costs more competitive.

In the off-chance there is a shutdown, it would be ideal if Microsoft provided some sort of alternative in order for businesses to keep functioning while the situation is dealt with. Even if it is down for ten minutes across an organization, it could prove costly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I'm not sure how long I've been using the solution. IT had it installed on my device. I've likely been using the solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is quite stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's quite reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution scales well. Of course, you can add more users whenever you need to. For example, if someone has an account, you can just add new users to it. If you are a company of 50, you may originally purchase 50 licenses. However, if you add 10 more employees, you can buy additional, licenses for 10 people. It's very easy to expand.

Currently, we have about 50 users, more or less, in our organization.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used Gmail in the past, however, I find the Microsoft product to be much more refined.

How was the initial setup?

The initial installation is not complicated. It's in the cloud, and therefore, it's mainly, for example, just creating a user account. On one side, the account is created, then the order is just to add in user information. That's it. There's nothing to install. It's more like creating accounts for the users. Automatically, they will receive an email to alert them an account has been created for them. After that, they can start using it.

It wouldn't take more than a day to finish setting everything up.

You only need one person to deploy the solution.

The maintenance is minimal. You would only need about one person to manage it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution could be cheaper and more reasonably priced.

We pay for our licenses on a yearly basis.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an end-user of the product. I don't have a business relationship with Microsoft.

I'm using the latest version of the solution.

I would recommend that everyone downloads the mobile application, as it makes it so easy to access and use.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A perfect and feature-rich product with best technical support and straightforward installation
Pros and Cons
  • "I like everything. For me, this is a perfect product. It is rich in terms of features, and new functionalities are available very often. It is super straightforward to install, and their technical support is the best that I've ever seen."
  • "It could be cheaper, but I don't know if this is possible."

What is our primary use case?

We are using it for all products inside this package, such as online SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

What is most valuable?

I like everything. For me, this is a perfect product. It is rich in terms of features, and new functionalities are available very often.

It is super straightforward to install, and their technical support is the best that I've ever seen.

What needs improvement?

It could be cheaper, but I don't know if this is possible.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. We have around 70 users. In one company, we have around 20 users, and in another company, we have around 50 users. We will keep using this solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is very good. It is the best I've ever seen. I have not received such a level of support for any product that I have used in the past. Their response time is less than half an hour after the first call. Sometimes, I have received a call back in 10 minutes. Their knowledge and support are at a high-level.

How was the initial setup?

Its installation is super straightforward. The deployment duration depends on the number of users.

What about the implementation team?

I installed it myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It could be cheaper. Its licensing is on a yearly basis.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We didn't evaluate other solutions.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend this solution to others. I would rate Microsoft 365 Business an eight out of ten.
