What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not had any major stability issues with Dropbox.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability isn't a top priority for our needs at the moment, so we haven't specifically requested high scalability for our storage. Typically, custom solutions aren't inherently very scalable. This is why integrating with a cloud solution like Dropbox makes sense for us - it offers the scalability we might need in the future without worrying about it. At our company, we have teams of five to ten people in larger groups with around 100-150 users. It helps us cater to different-sized teams and projects.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very simple. Setting up our solution doesn't require a big team; usually, a couple of people are enough for deployment. One person handles the project deployment, and we use internal resources for ongoing maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Dropbox is fairly priced with a yearly license.

What other advice do I have?

I wouldn't recommend Dropbox based on my experience. For customers and managers dealing with scientific data, a custom solution might be preferable, and that is why we lean towards it. Even if someone is considering a shift to the cloud, we prefer a more tailored approach rather than using Dropbox. Overall, I would rate Dropbox as an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Enhanced organizational efficiency and collaboration through robust scalability and reliable performance, offering a seamless and secure cloud-based solution for file storage
Pros and Cons
  • "It offers security, accessibility, and user-friendly features."
  • "While generally user-friendly, there is room for improvement in the user interface, especially with the introduction of new integrations and features."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use it to store and share files with individuals across different continents. It serves as a convenient platform for saving and exchanging various documents and materials with others.

What is most valuable?

It offers security, accessibility, and user-friendly features.

What needs improvement?

While generally user-friendly, there is room for improvement in the user interface, especially with the introduction of new integrations and features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for approximately six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find it to be very stable. I have not encountered any issues, nor have I heard of any problems from others. I would rate it a solid ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

While I don't have personal experience in this aspect, based on what I've read, I would say it is quite scalable. Initially, we had around fifty users, but the number has since decreased, currently ranging from thirty to forty. Despite the reduction in users, the platform is still extensively used.

How are customer service and support?

I have never reached out to their technical support because our local tech support has proven to be competent enough to address any issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used SharePoint in the past, which was a Microsoft platform, but that was quite a while ago.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment is handled by my team. They take care of the configuration, and it typically only takes five to ten minutes for end-user setup.

What was our ROI?

There's undoubtedly a significant return on investment because we transitioned from the Microsoft SharePoint Live OneDrive solution. Previously, we had a formal user complaint base, but now, thanks to the user-friendly interface and improved performance, we've managed to considerably reduce user complaints. The platform has proven to be effective for our team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have a corporate license for this platform, which involves an annual subscription. The pricing varies depending on the version, and the one we currently utilize is the business version. I'm aware that there is a larger version available, but the one we have meets our storage requirements adequately. I would rate it eight out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

My recommendation, especially for individuals engaged in extensive work involving large video files, presentations, or design documents that need to be shared with third parties across continents or locations, is that this platform is an ideal solution. Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A versatile and user-friendly cloud storage and file-sharing service that offers flexible access options, seamless synchronization, reliable performance, and competitive pricing
Pros and Cons
  • "The various methods for accessing files, such as through mobile apps, online synchronization, and on a PC, are highly valuable."
  • "Currently, it permits up to five users, but for larger families, it would be beneficial to have a more flexible offering."

What is our primary use case?

I use it for personal file sharing.

What is most valuable?

I find the flexibility of accessing my data from anywhere to be a significant advantage. The various methods for accessing files, such as through mobile apps, online synchronization, and on a PC, are highly valuable.

What needs improvement?

One aspect that I believe could be enhanced is the family sharing feature. Currently, it permits up to five users, but for larger families, it would be beneficial to have a more flexible offering. It would be valuable if it offered an archival service that allows users to transfer active mailbox data into long-term storage. Such a feature would be beneficial for archiving and preserving data over extended periods.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for eight years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate its stability capabilities ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

While I am impressed with the scalability aspect, I would like to emphasize the need for more scalability, especially for personal use. I would rate it eight out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have exclusively used Google Drive, including Google Apps for Business, and Dropbox.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

The initial setup involves configuring the settings, but beyond that, there's minimal maintenance required. Once you've set it up, there's not much in terms of ongoing configuration and upkeep. The vendor handles most of the maintenance tasks, so there's very little for us to do. The deployment time depends on internet latency, but it doesn't take more than half an hour to an hour.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I find their pricing to be fairly standard and competitive when compared to the rest of the market. The pricing is affordable for a range of businesses, from small to large. I would rate it eight out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I would highly recommend it. Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

Useful file requests, highly stable, and quick setup
Pros and Cons
  • "Dropbox offers helpful functionalities for business purposes, such as receiving file requests from external parties like customers who don't have an account. Additionally, it includes features, such as reminders and workflow capabilities."
  • "The price is expensive for individual users."

What is our primary use case?

I use Dropbox for backups.

What is most valuable?

Dropbox offers helpful functionalities for business purposes, such as receiving file requests from external parties like customers who don't have an account. Additionally, it includes features, such as reminders and workflow capabilities.

What needs improvement?

The price is expensive for individual users.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for approximately 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Dropbox a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am an individual user of the solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Dropbox is simple and it took approximately 10 minutes.

To access the online service, it was required to create an account, and subsequently, to use the desktop application, which necessitated downloading and installing it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for non-corporations is expensive. They have raised their prices and have low storage capacity.

There is a monthly and annual model pay and use solution.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others.

I rate Dropbox an eight out of ten.

Provides good stability, but the data recovery feature for the free version needs improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "The product's most valuable feature is storage."
  • "They should archive the data."

What is our primary use case?

I use Dropbox to store files and pictures.

How has it helped my organization?

The application helps free up storage space on my phone. I mostly have all the data in Dropbox.

What is most valuable?

The product's most valuable feature is storage.

What needs improvement?

The product's data recovery feature for the free version needs improvement. Once, I had lost all the data. When I contacted the support team, they were unable to retrieve it. They should archive the data.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for more than ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product has good stability. However, it has some performance issues. It needs a better warehouse for data backup. They should provide more storage for the free version.

How are customer service and support?

The response from the technical support team could be faster. They sometimes take two days to reply to an email, whereas sometimes, they respond in two hours. There is nothing specific.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. It takes two to three minutes to complete. I can  easily use it on the desktop, web, and mobile. It is well-integrated with Google and a few other email providers.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Dropbox for personal use, as it is a free tool. You can store data and ensure security. I rate it a seven out of ten.

A tool that provides users with a good capacity to save and share files
Pros and Cons
  • "The product's initial setup phase was easy."
  • "Considering the solution's shortcomings, I want the product to be more user-friendly and offer more storage capacity."

What is our primary use case?

It is just a normal tool for file-sharing purposes and a common platform that allows people to save and access files from different users.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the user-friendly capacity it provides me to save and share files.

What needs improvement?

Considering the solution's shortcomings, I want the product to be more user-friendly and offer more storage capacity.

The solution is expensive and should be made cheaper.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven to eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

I use the solution for my personal use cases.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with OneDrive and Google Drive. I moved to Dropbox from some other solutions to test it out.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was easy.

The product's installation phase needs to follow just two or three steps.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

What about the implementation team?

I managed the product's installation in our company.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I need to pay towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. The solution is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution to those who plan to use it.

I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.

A stable and easy-to-deploy solution that is scalable and can easily read and share data
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is simple and straightforward."
  • "The product must provide users with the ability to edit and modify documents."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for sharing data. I also use it for sharing project responsibilities with my team.

What is most valuable?

We use it in our development and production environments. The product has created an industry standard.

What needs improvement?

The product must provide users with the ability to edit and modify documents.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for five years. I am using the latest version of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution’s stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s scalability a ten out of ten. More than 20 people are using the product in our organization. We do not have plans to increase the number of users.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I was using IBM’s product. I prefer IBM’s product because it collaborates with the embedded cloud.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple and straightforward. The product can read and share data on Microsoft pretty easily. The deployment took 15 to 20 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

We deployed the solution in-house. To deploy the product, we must follow simple steps. We do not need the help of a consultant. We just need to read the steps on the website. We need only one junior engineer to manage and maintain the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We must pay when we upsize to a larger space.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I prefer Google One over Dropbox. We use Dropbox only to separate our files. Google One has similar features to Dropbox. However, Google One is better than Dropbox because of the complex environment that Google provides.

What other advice do I have?

The newcomers like Google One, Microsoft, IBM, and other products have similar features. We have a regulation not to use much in the cloud. We tend to use the tools offered by our local vendors. Overall, I rate the tool a ten out of ten.

Reliable with good performance and makes it easy to share documents
Pros and Cons
  • "The performance has been good."
  • "I'd like to see security improved a bit."

What is our primary use case?

I usually work with Dropbox to upload my documents. I use it for personal and business needs.

What is most valuable?

Sometimes I work on a site with a lot of restrictions and security policies and I cannot connect to the environment to deliver a package. I usually use Dropbox to upload the package I need and they use my Dropbox to download the package. I usually work with Dropbox to move my data to another site.

The performance has been good.

What needs improvement?

I'd like to see security improved a bit.

I would like to get it to the point where we could offer permission on one file to make one person see that one file only. It might help improve the security of the entire Dropbox.

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using the solution about six years ago. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'm very happy with the performance. It's stable and reliable. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is very good. It's not a problem to expand. You can buy more capacity as needed.

I'm not sure how many people are using the solution in my organization.

How are customer service and support?

I have not dealt with support before. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they would be.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've also used Google Drive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We're satisfied with the pricing. It's fine. If you need to increase storage, you can just buy more capacity. That said, I don't directly deal with licensing.

What other advice do I have?

As this solution is on the cloud, we're always using the latest version of the product.

I'd recommend the solution to others. I would rate it eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud
