Flexible with useful screen sharing and great reliability
Pros and Cons
  • "The transcription feature is great."
  • "I'd like Microsoft to start adding more AI functionality into Teams."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for recording meetings and preparing education for our YouTube channel.

What is most valuable?

It's a very flexible program.

We can do screen sharing very easily.

It's good for recording sessions.

Sometimes, I can't see if a person came into the meeting; however, when I go and look at the session at the end, I can see who has come and gone from the meeting.

The transcription feature is great. I can copy it and create a document out of it.

It's quite stable and issue-free.

The solution can scale.

What needs improvement?

The room feature could be better. I like the visibility we get when we use Zoom, for example. I'd like the rooms to be set up more like that. I'd like more room management features.

I'd like Microsoft to start adding more AI functionality into Teams.

For how long have I used the solution?

I use Teams all of the time for work. I've used it for about two years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I've never had any issues with stability. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution scales well. It's easy to implement new users.

We all use Teams in my company. We have about 80 people using it.

How are customer service and support?

I've never had any issues with the product. I've never had to reach out to technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Zoom in the past for virtual meetings. I only use it occasionally. I have noted some stability issues with it that I haven't noted in Teams. I don't have a license for Zoom. I haven't seen the backend administration features.

How was the initial setup?

I did not handle the setup process. It was automatically deployed to my laptop.

We do not have to do any maintenance tasks. However, we do have an administrator. He may have maintenance tasks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have an Office 365 license which includes Teams in the product. I'm not sure of the exact cost of the solution.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an end-user.

I'm not sure which version we're using.

We save our meetings in the cloud when we use the solution.

I would recommend the solution to others. I know that Microsoft has begun to add AI to its products. However, this hasn't happened in Teams just yet. Once they start adding AI, it will become even better - and it's already very good.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Great for internal communications, available on mobile and PC, and easy to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "It’s very easy to set up. It doesn't take that long."
  • "It’s good to use it internally with colleagues."
  • "The desktop and mobile apps are quite different."
  • "One time the product was basically freezing. I couldn't send a message to my colleague for some reason."

What is our primary use case?

Teams is mostly for internal purposes. We use it to communicate between our company with colleagues. Instead of sending emails all the time, we have Teams just to send documents or communicate for anything, even creating groups.

What is most valuable?

It’s very easy to set up. It doesn't take that long.

You can either use it on your phone or on your PC.

You can make phone and video calls.

It makes it easy to communicate with colleagues.

What needs improvement?

One time the product was basically freezing. I couldn't send a message to my colleague for some reason. I had to restart the PC or restart my phone for some reason. I don't know why it was buggy. Maybe it was overloaded or something.

The desktop and mobile apps are quite different. They should work to make both virtually the same.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have had an issue in the past with it being buggy and freezing. I had to restart my devices to get it going again.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Everybody in our organization uses the solution. It’s on every PC in the company. It’s, give or take, a bit less than 100 people.

How are customer service and support?

Usually, I contact my IT team to share any issues. I haven't used the support from Microsoft Teams. Usually, it doesn't have that many issues. It's just straightforward.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I’ve also used Slack.

Teams can be used as an internal tool, whereas Slack might be considered more public. We are able to share internal documentation more effectively with Teams.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is effortless and straightforward. It’s not complex at all.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't know how much it costs. That’s not an area I am involved in.

What other advice do I have?

I’m not sure which version of the solution we’re using.

It’s good to use it internally with colleagues. You do not have to share anything with external organizations. It gives you basically the advantage of not having any external partners or anything. It's just for internal purposes with nothing to communicate with other partners. It’s a great internal tool.

I’d rate the solution nine out of ten.

Enables users to work on the same file with others through file sharing and collaboration; useful for meetings, training, and task management
Pros and Cons
  • "The feature I like most in Microsoft Teams is the ability to work on the same file with other people, for example, on Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Excel, without needing to share the file via email."
  • "Microsoft Teams is a very stable app."
  • "What I'd like to improve in Microsoft Teams are the calendar management and task management tools, because they're not easy to use. They're not user-friendly."
  • "What I'd like to improve in Microsoft Teams are the calendar management and task management tools, because they're not easy to use."

What is our primary use case?

I'm using Microsoft Teams for meetings, training, work, file sharing, and its other features. Working and consulting for Microsoft Teams are my principal roles. The app is my best friend.

What is most valuable?

The feature I like most in Microsoft Teams is the ability to work on the same file with other people, for example, on Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Excel, without needing to share the file via email. I also like that I can be updated and I can understand the status of work or the status of a task.

What needs improvement?

What I'd like to improve in Microsoft Teams are the calendar management and task management tools, because they're not easy to use. They're not user-friendly. For calendar management, I prefer to use Outlook, for example, I send a calendar or update a meeting through Outlook rather than Microsoft Teams.

An additional feature I'd like to see in the next release of Microsoft Teams is the ability to monitor my working activity, particularly to understand how many hours I spend every day on each task or work I do, for example: on PowerPoint or Excel. I would like a personal dashboard that I can consult to understand where I spent my time during my work journey.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Microsoft Teams since 2019, so it's three years of usage.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a very stable app. I didn't notice any issue or problem with it, even in the past year, so it's stable for me. I use it every day.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a scalable app.

How are customer service and support?

I don't use Microsoft Teams support because when I have a problem with the app, I just contact the IT department. We have internal support for the app in the company.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Skype for Business before switching to Microsoft Teams. I switched because there are several differences between the two apps. The main difference is that Skype for Business doesn't allow file sharing between users, and doesn't allow users to work on the same file, versus Microsoft Teams which is optimized for file sharing and work collaboration. Another difference is that Microsoft Teams is more user-friendly than Skype for Business. For example, if I search for a contact on my contact list, it's simpler to do compared to searching for a contact on Skype for Business. Microsoft Teams also saves conversations on the chat panel, while Skype for Business archives the conversation on my email, creating spam in my mailbox. These are all the reasons I prefer Microsoft Teams over Skype for Business.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated Skype for Business, Google Meet, and Zoom.

What other advice do I have?

For virtual meetings, I use Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business. I also use Google Meet and Zoom. I used Skype for Business for one year in 2019, but after 2019, I started using Microsoft Teams, and I'm still using it.

My rating for Microsoft Teams is eight out of ten.

A stable solution with a good video conferencing feature
Pros and Cons
  • "This is a stable solution, I have not faced any problems using the video conferencing."
  • "This is a stable solution, I have not faced any problems using the video conferencing."
  • "For future releases, I would like to see Microsoft Teams to make a lighter application and drop some features."
  • "I have had concerns with login and resource consumption using Microsoft Teams, I would consider Zoom or Cisco WebEx as better solutions."

What is our primary use case?

I am a freelancer. The decision on what solution to use is determined by my customers. Some of my customers have over 5,000 employees who are using Teams.

Teams is a virtual meeting solution. We use Teams to work with our clients purely with video conferences.

What is most valuable?

This is a stable solution, I have not faced any problems using the video conferencing.

What needs improvement?

As an app installed, Microsoft Teams is resource-consuming. When using it from their browser-based application, I experienced login problems.

For future releases, I would like to see Microsoft Teams make a lighter application and drop some features.

Microsoft Teams has all the features it needs, however, I noticed on some laptops that the features are not available. For example, if you want to change your virtual background, not all laptops have the hardware configured to link with that feature. The solution should make all features available irrespective of hardware configuration.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution, I have not faced any problems using the video conferencing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft is always scalable, it depends on the level of licensing an organization has purchased.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Microsoft Teams is easy. I would rate setup a 5 out of 5 as the solution is straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

I have had concerns with login and resource consumption using Microsoft Teams, I would consider Zoom or Cisco WebEx as better solutions.

Organizations should consider what features they want to utilize. If they want all features to be available, they need to have an enterprise category system. Logging in from a home segment device will not have all features available.

I would rate the solution an 8 out of 10.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
