A collaboration tool that can be used to chat with people, manage projects and share documents
Pros and Cons
  • "You can use Microsoft Teams to chat with people, share your documents, manage your calendar, manage your project, and assign tasks."
  • "There are a lot of creative people out there who can put some more UI capabilities in Microsoft Teams."

What is our primary use case?

In the organization where I work, Microsoft Teams is used as a collaboration tool, and it's our company-wide policy to use Microsoft Teams as the integrated tool for all communications and collaborating documents.

What is most valuable?

I like that Microsoft Teams has all the team management features in one place. You can use Microsoft Teams to chat with people, share your documents, manage your calendar, manage your project, and assign tasks. The solution also has multiple small tools available. All in all, it's one place where you can have everything in a single window.

What needs improvement?

There are a lot of creative people out there who can put some more UI capabilities in Microsoft Teams.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for almost three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I’ve never faced any issues with the solution’s stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a scalable solution. Our company is big, and I've never felt any glitches or hanging issues with the solution. Around 2,00,000 users are using the solution in our organization.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've previously used Atlassian Jira. If you are looking for a hard-core project wherein you can get a complete timesheet and better project manageability, Jira is a better tool. However, Microsoft Teams is the better option if you are looking for chatting, collaborating, and sharing features. Jira does not have chatting capability in it.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup wasn't much complex, but it was pretty straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

Generally, it is the backend team that does the deployment. As end users, we are there to create our folders and channels. We can manage our individual projects by ourselves. However, from the server level, a dedicated company team works on the solution's deployment.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams is a very popular platform by Microsoft that is very commonly used in all organizations.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams a nine out of ten.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

A good solution for video conferencing and group chats, but its useful Wiki function was withdrawn
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of Microsoft Teams are video conferencing, chat function, and the one that shows you that you've got new messages."
  • "Microsoft Teams withdrew the Wiki function, which was quite a good and useful feature."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for messaging, group chats, and video calls.

How has it helped my organization?

You can coordinate meetings more rapidly with Microsoft Teams. You can use the solution to get a group of people together quicker.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Microsoft Teams are video conferencing, chat function, and the one that shows you that you've got new messages.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams withdrew the Wiki function, which was quite a good and useful feature. The solution has withdrawn the Wiki function in favor of SharePoint.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Microsoft Teams a five out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a completely scalable solution. Every employee in my organization uses the solution, and I use the solution every day.

I rate Microsoft Teams a ten out of ten for scalability.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams is deployed on-cloud in our organization. My advice to someone considering Microsoft Teams for their company would be to check it out against their use case requirements.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams a six to seven out of ten.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

A solution that has features like good voice clarity, good video quality, and recording
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has features like good voice clarity, good video quality, and recording."
  • "Microsoft Teams has a limitation on the number of people, which could be increased."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for normal SharePoint activity. We have offices in the US and some in India, and we do our regular team meetings on Microsoft Teams.

What is most valuable?

All basic features of Microsoft Teams are good enough. The solution has features like good voice clarity, good video quality, and recording. We can set up the Microsoft Team's settings within seconds, and connectivity is also good. We can connect with anybody, including our customers.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams has a limitation on the number of people, which could be increased. The voice quality sometimes is not good, but it could be because of internet issues.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for about a year or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It could be because of internet issues, but the screen often freezes off. We have Microsoft Teams meetings at least thrice a week. Throughout some 10 to 20 meetings, the screen freezes off one or two times. Subsequently, leaving the meeting and coming back takes time.

I rate Microsoft Teams between eight and nine out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution's scalability is good enough for us. We have never faced any issues with the solution's scalability. We use Microsoft Teams about three to four times a week. We use it every alternate day for about half an hour, two hours, or one and a half hours. We have never faced any issues, and even if it's a continuous three hours meeting, there's no stoppage in the service. Currently, 15 users are using Microsoft Teams in our organization, and we may scale up to about 30 to 35 users after some time.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use SharePoint from Microsoft. Earlier, we used to use Google Meet. Although Google Meet was free, it had a time limit of 45 minutes. We used to use another product from an Indian-based company with its own data center. It is a free VC software, but we stopped using it because of some teething issues.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is quite okay and very user-friendly.

What about the implementation team?

We are IT and system integrators ourselves. Although we're a small company, our organization has a technical team who does the deployment. We didn't have to take any assistance from outside.

My technical team remotely deployed Microsoft Teams. From a user perspective, if I had to connect or have a Microsoft Teams meeting with any of my vendors, customers, or internally, I know how to do it, and it's quite simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams is expensive compared to other solutions. We bought the entire suite of products, including Office, Outlook, and Teams.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams is deployed on-cloud in our organization. Microsoft Teams is an expensive product. Since we are a micro and small mid sized company, we have to pay more cost. Big banks and big enterprise customers pay half the price of what we pay because their number of users is more. If the company is very big, the solution's cost reduces substantially.

Microsoft Teams is a very standard platform. Many of our customers are using Microsoft. Google is also quite good, and Google is much easier to use and user-friendly than Microsoft Teams.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams an eight or nine out of ten.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

An affordable and user-friendly solution that provides a variety of features for efficient collaboration
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is very user-friendly."
  • "The product should improve its security."

What is our primary use case?

I use the product for internal communication, SharePoint, and other tasks. I have deployed it everywhere. It can be used for meetings, external communications, and work collaboration. We can also use applications like Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other integrations like Adobe in the solution.

What is most valuable?

The product is very user-friendly. It also provides a mobile application to keep us up to date. It works fine in terms of meetings and remote access. Task scheduling, planning, SharePoint, and secure remote access for troubleshooting and support are valuable features of the solution. Our end users are very happy with the product.

The solution is good. We have had no major issues till now. For audit and security, eDiscovery is pretty good. The product also provides good email security, location security, and security against phishing, spam and malware. We also tried implementing an image security solution to ensure our environment is more secure.

What needs improvement?

The product should improve its security.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for the last four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution’s stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the product’s scalability a ten out of ten. In our organization, 150 people are using the solution. I have plans to increase the number of users by 10% till next year.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very straightforward. We deploy it through the network to our users, add the usernames and passwords, and configure it. The solution is cloud-based.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment takes five to ten minutes for one user. We can deploy the solution for one user on their device, or we can deploy a script over the network. Then, the installation is done through patch management. The deployment was done in-house. We do not need much staff. Two of my employees and I can deploy and support levels one and two. For level three support, we have a team that supports remotely.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is affordable. It is not expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I am using the latest version of the product. I have a contract with Microsoft for Microsoft 365. I'm happy with the product. Since we are in a group, we implement the product. The group is doing good work with Microsoft, and we have a good deal with them. I would recommend the solution.

I am planning to test Microsoft Defender for an image security solution. Microsoft should improve Intune for mobile device management. Intune's dashboard is a bit difficult to understand. It should be made easier. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

A reliable communication and collaboration platform with remote control tools
Pros and Cons
  • "Everything is valuable, such as the chats, the calls, and the file sharing."
  • "The remote control needs some improvement."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case of Microsoft Teams is for internal and external communication. We also use it for chatting, team calls, screen sharing and remote control.

What is most valuable?

Everything is valuable, such as the chats, the calls, and the file sharing.

What needs improvement?

The remote control needs some improvement. I feel Zoom is much better than Teams, especially in remote controlling.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Mircosoft Teams for more than five years as an end user.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

As for the stability, I never faced an issue with Microsoft Teams. I might have faced an issue with Teams just once in my career, but I haven't seen any issues apart from that, I never saw any issue.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have never had issues with Mircosoft Teams. However, the IT guys handle the scalability. A lot of users in our organization use Microsoft Teams. More than 6,000 users use the solution in our organization.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is deployed on-premises for larger enterprises, but I think it is on the cloud as well.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is a bit more than moderately expensive. That's why the low-scale enterprises, not the mid-range, choose Slack and all these open-source tools.

What other advice do I have?

I am happy using Microsoft Teams and I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

A good collaborative platform to connect with professionals through video calls
Pros and Cons
  • "It's easy to share information and upload and download files on Microsoft Teams."
  • "The solution's user interface could be improved because it initially looked complex."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for internal communication. We mostly use Microsoft Teams to connect with professionals, set reminders, and have video calls and meetings.

What is most valuable?

Microsoft Teams is a good collaborative platform. If I'm working with different teams, I get an opportunity to create different chat groups and channels within them. It's easy to share information and upload and download files on Microsoft Teams.

What needs improvement?

The solution's user interface could be improved because it initially looked complex.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for more than three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams has no stability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are an enterprise business, and our entire organization uses Microsoft Teams.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Zoom was much better than Microsoft Teams for video calling, but the user interface was difficult to collaborate on. I could not create groups on Zoom and have a chat. Even if I could, it's not as easy as Microsoft Teams.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is easy.

What about the implementation team?

Usually, this software is available in our software centers. We don't download it from the websites. It doesn't take much time.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams needs no maintenance. Whenever there is a new version, it gets installed automatically. I never updated the Microsoft Teams software on my system.

Microsoft Teams is a fantastic tool because Microsoft has other applications like Power BI and Microsoft SharePoint. Microsoft is always continuously trying to integrate all these platforms.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams a nine out of ten.

Beneficial calendar invites, high performance, and plenty of features
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Microsoft Teams is the ability to create Google calendar invites. When I click on that option to create an invite, it will go straight to Google in my web browser, and it creates a meeting folder. I'm able to share it with the customers. I've not seen that option in Zoom. Additionally, the solution has high performance, and the video and quality of the calls are good. It has all the features that I need."
  • "Additionally, the solution has high performance, and the video and quality of the calls are good."
  • "One of my colleagues was trying to use Microsoft Teams on their laptop, and it was slow in terms of booting up when initially starting it. For example, it was not running in the background. In general, it takes some time to load. Zoom tends to have a faster loading time."
  • "One of my colleagues was trying to use Microsoft Teams on their laptop, and it was slow in terms of booting up when initially starting it."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for meetings and other operations, such as raising hands, sharing screens, and sending chat messages.

How has it helped my organization?

Ms Teams has improved our efficiency. Travelling to and from physical meetings takes time due to traffic situations. Besides it improves physical safety because we spend less time on the road.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Teams is the ability to create Google calendar invites. When I click on that option to create an invite, it will go straight to Google in my web browser, and will creates the meeting placeholder. I'm then able to share it with other people by entering their email addresses in the provisioned location. I've not seen that option in Zoom. Additionally, the solution has high performance, and the video and quality of the calls are good. It has all the features that I need.

What needs improvement?

If the Ms Teams process is closed, the next time a user attempts to open Teams, it takes a while to load. I'm not 100% certain whether system resources have anything to do with this, but in my experience, when the Ms Teams process is already running, Ms Teams loads quicker. On the other hand, Zoom (and even Google Meet) tend to have a faster loading time.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found Microsoft Teams to be scalable for what I have used it for. I have not tested the solution for more than 10 users at one time.

We have approximately four people using this solution in my organization. We use the solutions approximately every two weeks.

How are customer service and support?

I have never needed to contact the Microsoft Teams Technical Support channel. I have not had any problems with the application.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used other solutions, such as Zoom.

Zoom is a more lightweight solution and is easier to use than Microsoft Teams.

How was the initial setup?

The setup of Microsoft Teams is easy for a technical person like me. But a regular user may have a slight challenge with the process of activating an account on Ms Teams.

The multifactor authentication of Ms Teams can prove to be a challenge for a non-technical person.

I rate the setup of Microsoft Teams a three out of five.

What about the implementation team?

We install Teams in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We are using the free version of the solutions. Zoom gives a time-limit of 40 minutes for more than two attendees and automatically ends the meeting. You'd need to connect back to be able to resume/continue the meeting. The free version of Ms Teams does not seem to have a time limit. At the time I was doing this review, I was on a Teams meeting that had gone beyond 3 hrs 30 mins and it was still going on.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Microsoft Teams an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for training and meetings.

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Teams is that it is easy to use.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams could improve the integration with Outlook because most of us are not using the last version of Outlook and it causes some issues.

In the next release of Microsoft Teams, they should make the mobile application easier to manage. Additionally, they should add more features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for approximately two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a stable solution. However, we have to turn it off and reconnect sometimes.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a scalable solution. We have more than 600 users using this solution, from all levels in my organization. We have no problem with all our users using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used other solutions, such as Bridge and an internal application. Microsoft Teams is the easiest to use.

The implementation of Microsoft Teams is easy on the laptop but sometimes we are facing some difficulties with the phone.

I rate the initial setup of Microsoft Teams a three out of five.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams is priced less than other solutions, such as Bridge.

I rate the price of Microsoft Teams a four out of five.
