We use Monday primarily as a task/project manager. Some boards are simple "to-do" punch lists. Some boards are for full-team collaborations on product and packaging design. Within our Monday account, a product is researched, pitched, briefed, concepted, reviewed, revised, submitted for a quote, sent to mass production, checked for quality control, launched, marketed, and supported into its future. We maintain due dates, assign responsibilities within larger tasks, critique and punch up creative material, record budgets, and utilize automation to move tasks between teams and internal processes.
Marketing Manager at a media company with 11-50 employees
Gives high-level visibility, helps with task management, and has helpful status boxes
Pros and Cons
- "Being able to see the physical status of a single team without having to drill down to the task level is very valuable."
- "I wish the Time Tracking features were a little more robust."
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
We moved from Asana to Monday in 2018. We needed a task management solution that would fit the varied internal processes of our business. Some teams and tasks are pure creative, some pure logistics. Everyone has different KPIs that matter to them.
Monday allowed us to customize a unique board full of targeted information for each team and process while keeping all team members on the same shared platform. We value teams across functions being able to stay attuned to each other's work. It creates accountability and reduces siloing.
What is most valuable?
Big Picture: Being able to add and subtract columns from a board. We see only what we want to see, and it's there, top-level, at a glance. Being able to see the physical status of a single team without having to drill down to the task level is very valuable.
Small Picture: The status boxes are super impactful. The changing colors are visually distinct and powerful, but the wild amount of customization they offer for different contexts, and even being able to comment directly on a changed status adds a ton of clarity to a team's progress (or lack thereof).
What needs improvement?
I wish the Time Tracking features were a little more robust. We are interested in replacing Toggl with Monday's in-built time tracking features so that we can consolidate more of our internal software into Monday, but the time tracking features aren't quite there yet.
For example, if a task is assigned to multiple people, and User One tracks two hours while User Two tracks three hours, Monday's reporting through their dashboard will show that both users tracked five hours, and it looks like ten hours were spent in total. Since so many of our processes are in collaboration, this feature as it stands is pretty useless to us and forces us to use an external piece of software to handle it (and we don't particularly like Toggl's reporting).

For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for just over four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is dependable. Over the course of four years, Monday has been down in a way that affected our workflow fewer times than I can count on both my hands.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We went from small to mid-size while using Monday. It has plenty of features that would allow it to scale with us further, including important permissions and visibility features. We also have dedicated ways to section off content, reorganize by importance, and place boards into folders.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is speedy and professional. Thorough. Responsive. We haven't had an issue go unresolved. In the earlier days of the service, some of our limitations were eventually remedied with feature updates.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously used Asana. At the time we were simply pricing out alternatives, as our team had grown into a new pricing bracket with Asana, Monday was priced competitively for our size. We were given a two-week test drive of Monday and then understood that it wasn't simply a cheaper option. It was a more flexible option for our business.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was complex. We needed a champion to get set up and moved over from Asana and understand any new limitations. It was not something we could just toss to any/every employee and expect success. However, the documentation and help files are very clear and kept up to date. It's easy to pick up and learn.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented through an in-house team.
What was our ROI?
Monday is a big part of our entire product lifecycle, and we're launching hundreds of products a year. The price tag starts to look pretty miniscule.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
To a complete novice, Monday 'feels' a little more complex than competitors and 'feels' a little overwhelming. You'll need a champion or two in your workplace to learn the ins and outs and set up boards to a baseline configuration. That said, once folks are comfortable and customizing it to their needs, it really starts to sing.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We evaluated a few other services of varying levels of complexity, Basecamp and Trello amongst them. Some raw time-tracking and to-do list software that would've required additional administration, some fuller-service options.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
Executive Assistant at a religious institution with 1-10 employees
Great status and color options with helpful automation capabilities
Pros and Cons
- "We also love that Monday talks with Mailchimp so we can always stay connected with people."
- "Subitems could be reworked a little so that they’re more helpful."
What is our primary use case?
We use Monday for project management primarily. We can check in on the progress of events and ongoing projects around the office. We also use it as a registration platform and to track people/attendance.
This is helpful to know how many people are planning to attend, if they need childcare, and to gather contact info to import to Mailchimp for communication.
We are a church, so checking in on people is super important and we can provide updates to the whole team. Additionally, we use Monday for timesheets as well.
How has it helped my organization?
Monday allows anyone on our team to get an update without scheduling a meeting.
We can stay up-to-date as a team at a glance.
On big event days, we can indicate where everything/everybody should be with our team of 150 people and everyone stays organized.
Being able to make notes is also super helpful for more in-depth information.
Integrations and automation keep us from duplicating unnecessary work since Monday talks to so many platforms.
It’s a great checkpoint for progress and knowing when someone is stuck on a task
What is most valuable?
The form view is incredible. We use this for registrations, gathering contact information, submitting prayer requests all week long, and many other things.
We also love the automation and integrations so we can sync other platforms.
We plan out our calendar in advance and sync it with Google Calendar so everyone can be on the same page all year long.
We also love that Monday talks with Mailchimp so we can always stay connected with people.
The status and color options also make using Monday super fun and appealing.
What needs improvement?
I wish I could have different columns for each group. Sometimes I want to plan an event from beginning to end on one board, however, I have to use the same columns for people who registered and tasks that need to be completed. Having an email column with tasks doesn’t make much sense. I usually end up with three boards for one event. Having it all in one would be amazing for tracking updates and seeing at-a-glance where we are and what needs to happen to get to the finish line.
Subitems could be reworked a little so that they’re more helpful.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for over three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have no issues with stability. Crashes are few and far between. Changes are usually welcome.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It can certainly grow with our team - which we love.
How are customer service and support?
Every time I have needed customer support it has been quick and painless.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
There was a learning curve, however, we picked it up fairly quickly. Learning how to set up boards for our needs was the hardest part.
What about the implementation team?
The setup was handled in-house.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I'd advise new users to start small and build their way up. You will always find more ways to use Monday, however, it can be overwhelming at first.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We also evaluated Asana and Trello.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Materials Manager at a manufacturing company with 11-50 employees
Great for collaboration, makes it easy to import Excel files, and offers increased communication capabilities
Pros and Cons
- "The ability to attach files to boards and truly make it collaborative is the most important aspect of the solution."
- "The only issue we have now is that Monday sometimes crashes and does not recognize a change we make."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use Monday for its calendar functionality. We are a small distributor that is working on getting a new ERP. Monday has helped us fill the gaps of our current ERP and has kept us highly organized while we work through the challenges of the current supply chain.
We track all open customer orders and our purchase orders to vendors on our board. We are able to take the working data and come up with supplier metrics such as on time percentage, days late, etc. This has helped us really have a handle on how things are moving along.
How has it helped my organization?
Monday has greatly increased communication and allows us to provide notes on open customer orders. We are able to record when our last communications were on an order with a customer and have visibility on delayed items so nothing falls through the cracks.
We also use the search and filter functionality to view the data to determine how we can best consolidate both incoming and outgoing shipments so we can save on cost. We would have not been able to manage our pandemic response as seamlessly without Monday.
What is most valuable?
The ability to attach files to boards and truly make it collaborative is the most important aspect of the solution. We have been able to make our internal meetings much shorter due to the fact that we all have access to the working area on Monday. It is also helpful that you can set certain notifications to make sure a colleague can address task items.
We also really rely on being able to import data with Excel and export data. It makes reporting very easy. It is an incredibly useful and powerful database of information once populated. The ability to chart information and turn it into a calendar or Gantt chart is also a major feature we use when reporting.
What needs improvement?
There are so many new add-ons and updates. I am always so impressed to see new columns, board types, and subcategories created. We are starting to look into using the subcategories on our items. We are excited to see how we can employ this feature on our shipping calendar for ease of use. We have also started using the Monday windows app instead of the browser and we really enjoy the UI.
The only issue we have now is that Monday sometimes crashes and does not recognize a change we make. This can be frustrating creating some extra work. For the time being, downtime has been minimal.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using Monday for approximately 18 months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The program seems to be stable, with few interruptions.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This program seems incredibly scalable.
How are customer service and support?
I have not worked with either customer service or support.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We were using our Microsoft Outlook calendar previously. It was obviously not dynamic enough to keep up with our demand.
How was the initial setup?
It was very easy for us to transfer the data using an Excel spreadsheet to import our orders.
What about the implementation team?
I completed all of the setup on my own.
What was our ROI?
The software has been invaluable to our team.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The setup was incredibly easy and very user-friendly.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We were looking into upgrading into a whole new ERP. We instead decided to move the data to Monday while we shelved the new ERP to do more research.
What other advice do I have?
Getting it is worth it.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Global Sales Coordinator at a manufacturing company with 501-1,000 employees
Great charts, useful reports, and very interactive
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable aspects of the solution include the charts which are very useful for the reports."
- "We would like to connect with email solutions such as Outlook."
What is our primary use case?
The solution is used for interactions, reports, and the ability of many entities to add values and view boards. It's very good for industrial and organizational structure and functions. It saves a lot of time and is a good platform to invest in.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable aspects of the solution include the charts which are very useful for the reports. The reports are accurate and timely and the boards allow users to add values. It's very good for industrial and organizational structure and functions and has made a big change in the speed of values and information transfer. It provides an interactive, fast environment, and saves so much time at all levels.
What needs improvement?
We would like to connect with email solutions such as Outlook.
We would prefer if we could let some entities view specific information like only reports.
I like the chart of countries, however, if it could add some features for delivery and shipping for export, it will help a lot (for example, in logistics, the port of loading, and port of discharge).
It could add the tracking of the shipments, for example, what is the status of every shipment. That would also be a good feature. We'd also like to upload some files or photos for each order line-wise.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is good. There are never systems down.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability is perfect.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is not bad.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We only used Excel and email.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution for a sister company and it was very good.
What was our ROI?
ROI is not applicable to me.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's not costly compared to the benefits.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Helps with organization, offers good project management capabilities, and has helpful technical support
Pros and Cons
- "It is nice that you can color code everything."
- "It would be ideal if, when you are assigned a task, to somehow link it with your calendar on Outlook or Gmail."
What is our primary use case?
We use Monday.com as a team to organize our work and keep us all on track. We have different channels for our different projects and then have tasks under each project that are assigned to certain people within the organization. This helps to know when things are due and who is responsible for completing them on time. It also shows how long we have been working on a project and if we are stuck or if the project is waiting on an action from someone else within the team. We have a small team and it is nice to feel organized.
How has it helped my organization?
It helps us to stay organized and support the management of projects.
We use Monday.com to manage all our projects and the work that we do as an organization.
Monday makes sure that we are all on the same page with our work and that we have the same idea about timelines and who is responsible for what.
Project management is so important within our organization. Having this software is great as it does a lot of the work for us and guides us when needed. We host our meetings and take notes that are saved on the platform that we can refer back to.
What is most valuable?
That we can take notes and there are different tabs that can be used to organize our work are the most valuable aspects for us.
It is also nice that you can color code everything.
What needs improvement?
I'm can't come up with anything concrete that needs to be improved. It would be ideal if, when you are assigned a task, to somehow link it with your calendar on Outlook or Gmail. I don't know if this is possible, however, I used both to keep track of my tasks and I often have to look at both programs to see what is due and when it is due.
Beyond that, Monday is a great project management site and it helps my organization to stay on track and stay connected to one another. It also provides us with an overview of all our work.

Senior Manager, Regulatory and Quality at a healthcare company with 51-200 employees
Easy to build dashboards with easy integration capabilities and great overall versatility
Pros and Cons
- "I’ve found the ability to build dashboards through integrating information from various boards most helpful to ensure the right information is being communicated to leaders and other groups."
- "I'd like better integration with other services."
What is our primary use case?
I've primarily used the solution for KPI tracking, project management, and schedule coordinating. Our group has adopted the use of Monday.com for KPI tracking specifically for changes made to company documents. As all the tasks are documented on Monday.com, it allows for easy KPI measurement. We also use Monday.com for project management due to the intuitiveness of the system. It is quick and easy to learn for most professionals and provides reminders for tasks that are outstanding. We also use it for schedule tracking to ensure we have sufficient coverage and everyone is on the same page.
How has it helped my organization?
Monday.com has allowed our company to be more organized. It has given transparency to the tasks required for an initiative to be successful and encouraged communication cross-departmentally.
The capabilities of Monday.com are so wide-reaching and versatile that it works for multiple diverse departments and projects. This allows boards to have a curated feel rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Monday.com has by far been the company’s best investment of all the systems we have purchased thus far.
What is most valuable?
I’ve found the ability to build dashboards through integrating information from various boards most helpful to ensure the right information is being communicated to leaders and other groups.
The ability to build dashboards in Monday.com has given us the ability to automate reporting and opened up possibilities for further reporting. The dashboard capability allows me to go in and quickly understand where my teams are and identify obstacles I can go in to help move for them. The dashboard capability allows me to catch future risks early.
What needs improvement?
I'd like better integration with other services. My best example is the Outlook Calendar integration. When using this integration for time tracking purposes, Monday.com integrates with Outlook Calendar yet only recognizes meetings I organize - not all the meetings I also accept. When it populates these tasks on my time tracking board it doesn’t properly represent the amount of calls or meetings I am in as it doesn’t recognize all items on my calendar - only those that I create. It would be ideal if it recognized all of them.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The product is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We did not use a different solution previously.
How was the initial setup?
I was not a part of the setup process.
What about the implementation team?
I was not a part of the setup process.
What was our ROI?
The specific ROI is unknown, however, the non-monetary value has been invaluable.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I don’t handle the licensing portion of the product.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I did not evaluate others, however, it is my understanding that our business systems group did.

Great search function and helpful automated email reminders with a useful activity log
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable tools are the search function, automated email reminders, and the ability to track changes through the activity log."
- "I'd like to see more integration with outside software such as social media publishing sites and cloud services."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use Monday at work as a tool for task management and as a CRM database. Working within the marketing department, we manage a lot of projects at once and speak to a lot of people. Being able to keep all of the information in one place where it's easy to collaborate and upload documents really helps. We also use it as a space for new ideas and brainstorming throughout departments.
How has it helped my organization?
Monday has massively improved how we as a company work. We're more collaborative as a whole and projects are managed a lot more organized which really helps with getting stuff done on time.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable tools are the search function, automated email reminders, and the ability to track changes through the activity log.
What needs improvement?
I'd like to see more integration with outside software such as social media publishing sites and cloud services.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for three years both at my current company and previous organization.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
There is rarely an issue with the system itself, though there has been a few occasions where it has been inaccessible.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability has great potential.
How are customer service and support?
I've always had a great experience with customer service. There's always been a solution. Alternatively, if a tool isn't yet available, they've always been happy to take my feedback.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We've previously used Trello and Slack but found they didn't offer everything we needed, whereas Monday does.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was very straightforward.
What about the implementation team?
The initial setup was handled in-house.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's a fair price for what you can do and how many members are a part of the organization. For the time it saves, as well as other tools we no longer need, it's well worth it.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Owner at a renewables & environment company with 11-50 employees
Improves communication, saves time and offers great board automation
Pros and Cons
- "The team follow-up is really easy to do with just one click."
- "I've had trouble trying to link or merge together a board with my team in which we can collaborate and comment on each task or file without having our client in on the early stage conversations."
What is our primary use case?
Since the pandemic, everyone on my team started working from home. Monday.com has been our best ally regarding project management and file sharing.
The fact that we can automate boards, assign tasks to any team member with a specific deadline, and also communicate thru the platform, it's just a magnificent way to adapt an ongoing operation of more than three members to a new way of remote work.
We're definitely more efficient than ever and everyone knows what they have to do during each day of work.
How has it helped my organization?
By integrating every comment, update, file sharing, deadline meeting, etc., our communication in each project has improved considerably, and that has impacted our efficiency as a team.
The team follow-up is really easy to do with just one click. Everything is available to anyone on our team whether is an update on that task for our client, or someone looking for the last version of a file we've been working on. It's all there and we can find it even quicker if someone just mentions you are a user on that update or task.
What is most valuable?
The board automation is helpful as it narrows down the probability of error in each process. If you can take out the human error factor in some processes, and just automate things the way they are supposed to react over one action or movement in that tasks process, the probability of errors or mistakes is considerably less than having everyone update manually.
Everyone in our team has more time to do what they're best at instead of filling forms, numbers, spreadsheets or every other project management tool, you can think of.
What needs improvement?
I've had trouble trying to link or merge together a board with my team in which we can collaborate and comment on each task or file without having our client in on the early stage conversations. We'd prefer having a board shared with our clients linked to the previous one, only for reviewing and authorization purposes. If I could just click on a task that has already been approved internally by our team and automatically upload that same file on the task where our client can review it, would be awesome.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's one of the most reliable platforms and tools I've integrated into my advertising agency's way of work.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I haven't thought about scaling.
How are customer service and support?
I've only needed technical support one time and the response was straightforward and easy to communicate with.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We have only used Monday.com.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is easy peasy.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution through an in-house team.
What was our ROI?
The ROI is a thousand times what I pay monthly for my subscription.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's not cheap, however, if you think of all the time your team can spend working on what they need to do (instead of dealing with emails, chats, or other managing processes) it's totally worth it.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
What other advice do I have?
I'm really grateful to be a Monday.com user.
