Great collaboration, easy UX/UI, and simple tracking
Pros and Cons
  • "It has kept all our departments accountable and gives a quick birds-eye to see how projects are progressing."
  • "We need more cross-API integration with creative apps in the Adobe Suite and other communication platforms."

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday.com throughout our entire company - from sales to content to marketing campaigns. We are a company that has a lot of balls in the air with a lot of tracking required and Monday has been a big help.

Initially, we used it to track various stages of content production and post workflow and now it has transitioned into intra-department use. We utilize forms for asset requests with our design team. We also use external trackers for our sponsorships team to communicate with our partners on collaborative projects.

How has it helped my organization?

It has kept all our departments accountable and gives a quick birds-eye to see how projects are progressing.

Prior to using Monday there was little to no project tracking. Things were assigned and it was up to managers to keep track on their own end using whatever means they had. Monday not only allows easier tracking but it can also set up team members the ability to know what projects are coming up next for them and not have to wait for something to be assigned to them if there are projects in queue for them.

What is most valuable?

Getting us to an easier UX/UI experience and away from spreadsheets has been great. Forms for asset requests have been a boon to our design team. It forces people to have to think about what they're actually asking for and spell out the delivery methods, attach references, dimensions, use cases, brand guidelines, etc. Having the ability to work with external teams on Monday also helps us stay in communication with our partners. It also helps communicate with freelancers as well as contractors. This gives us the same level of communication and progress tracking as we would with any and all of our staff.

What needs improvement?

We need more cross-API integration with creative apps in the Adobe Suite and other communication platforms. We utilize Discord a lot with some of our talent and teams. Therefore, having the ability to a quick reference that way would be great. Having the ability to add notes on project files in Adobe similar to Frame.io and other creative project review outlets would be a big gain. Maybe even having the ability to sync with Frame.io would be good as well.

Load times can sometimes be a bit inconsistent on web and mobile. The mobile interface seems a bit too cramped and very difficult to work with on the go.

Very customizable with great automation and lots of templates
Pros and Cons
  • "It is extremely customizable to each and every one of my clients' needs."
  • "Monday.com has improved the organizational efficiency of our advertising agency."
  • "One thing that would be cool is if Monday had a chat feature."

What is our primary use case?

I work in an advertising agency setting with more than ten people and we use Monday.com for our internal project management for our different departments including graphic design, social media content, social media ads, google ads, billing, project planning, and website creation and development. We also have a board for each and every one of our clients.

I utilize Monday.com constantly via my laptop and my cell phone. The syncing between my phone and computer is flawless and I never have any issues with it.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com has improved the organizational efficiency of our advertising agency. Before Monday.com we were using multiple apps whereas with Monday we are able to only check one place. It accomplishes everything that we need from it and I love how they are always developing new add-ons or integrations. A lot of my clients really like when I specifically set up a Monday board for them. Monday is incorporated into all of the branches of our industry and has improved the efficiency of each one.

What is most valuable?

The automation settings on each board are amazing to me. I love how many options there are. It is extremely customizable to each and every one of my clients' needs.

With over 200 different templates for creating boards and automation, I always have what I need.

Monday is perfect for small and medium-sized businesses. It is a one-stop shop for everything you need.

I also love the trendy aesthetics that it offers, it really steps up the game when our clients receive their own custom Monday board.

What needs improvement?

One thing that would be cool is if Monday had a chat feature. Our office mainly uses iMessage right now to instantly communicate with one another.

The only other software that we use that we wish we could get rid of is Evernote. I would love to be able to share notes with my colleagues in the same way that you can on Evernote. You can also search within your notes by typing certain words or phrases within a search bar.

Those additions would be the final elimination of any other software that I use.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for five years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options.

Saves time, helps clarify task status, and offers great automation
Pros and Cons
  • "I have found the automation very useful for reminders."
  • "It is very reasonably priced and worth the effort to get workflows down as there are many features that can help other businesses function efficiently."
  • "More demos on how to navigate and set up certain functions could be helpful."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for organizational purposes including when certain actions are needed from other members of the team.

It also lets others know what stage we are in our processes. The status updates make meetings smoother by having specific questions based off notes that are inputted into items needing to be collected. The assigning feature also delegates tasks to certain memebers which can be alleviating to those who do not want to constantly tell other what to do. It is a nice touch to just notify someone that a certain task is their responsibility

How has it helped my organization?

It has made us more efficient by cutting back and forth conversations that can be eliminated with a glance of the workflow board.

The certain board views for users that use different functions are amazing too as the board can become very overwhelming when there is a bunch of information on there. This view can help digest items that pertain to the tasks that you mainly focus on.

I also noticed that people were more aware of what is needed when notating properly. This can help efficient ways to request items that are falling by the wayside.

What is most valuable?

I have found the automation very useful for reminders. There are constant reminders of important items that need to be taken care of at a certain time in our loan processes and these reminders eliminate any compliance issues that we may run into by forgetting to send certain disclosures out. The timeline of loans is always on its own timeline and has its unique constraints that make timing very valuable to us.

The more time we save having fewer conversations about where we are at in the process the more time we have to execute other items.

What needs improvement?

More demos on how to navigate and set up certain functions could be helpful. There are a lot of features that do not get utilized for the simple reason that people do not know how to make them work. If there were more step-by-step processes, the public could learn how to utilize every feature Monday has to offer. There is a learning curve to having the board work for you. However, overall, it is very simple to use and the features need more exposure to help those who may take advantage of the automation.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this for one and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability can be spotty at times, however, it happens very rarely.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is impressive. The amount of users that can engage with this is unlimited.

How are customer service and support?

I have not had to call them quite yet.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using Trello beforehand and we had more sale volume to the point that it was not supporting us well. Monday helped alleviate a lot of pain points that we ran into when trying to find an organizational tool to help our workflow

How was the initial setup?

The setup was straightforward with the exception of the coding features.

What about the implementation team?

One of our associates set up the whole system. It took many meetings to agree on how the board should look and what we should focus on.

What was our ROI?

I can't quantify ROI quite yet.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is very reasonably priced and worth the effort to get workflows down as there are many features that can help other businesses function efficiently.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We honestly tried this solution shortly after Trello and did not find any other competitors that we were interested in. Although Salesforce is one of the other platforms we were considering, the costs did not make sense for us.

What other advice do I have?

I advise that the company has one person curate the website. It can be messy having many editors and items getting deleted by accident.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Easy to assign owners, with great templates and excellent filtering
Pros and Cons
  • "In short - it keeps a remote asynchronous team in sync."
  • "The docs could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We are a small marketing team of about five. I was the first marketing hire. I chose Monday out of a variety of other solutions as I liked the flexibility of it and my product designer liked the look of it.

I started managing our strategy and goals in here so our team could stay connected even though we don't live near each other or go into the same office or work in the same room. It helps us all look at the same goals and stay connected to the same mission so we are all moving in the same direction.

How has it helped my organization?

In short - it keeps a remote asynchronous team in sync. I keep our quarterly goals on their own board, then our monthly goals, then our weekly team items. Each function also has its own boards. For example, website development has its own project management board. SEO has its own rankings board. Our content calendar is on Monday with a space to track ideas and another space to track existing SEO rankings of published blogs and articles. Our department head and CEO can check Monday at any point to see where we are at with our marketing strategy and plan and see what the team is doing.

What is most valuable?

The templates are extremely valuable. I wouldn't know where to start when creating something new. I like the variety in templates and the ability to customize pretty much anything. Assigning owners is also helpful. Everyone can filter the board by themselves to just see items that relate to them. The filter options give each team member a bit of brain space and allow them to prioritize what is meant exactly for them. I also like the docs to be able to brainstorm free flow, but wish they had some updates so they could be more usable.

What needs improvement?

The docs could be improved. We need docs where we can manage content management inside of Monday. Ideally, even being able to loop in some basic SEO in a panel on the side like Frase.ai would be a powerful solution and would make it difficult for businesses to pull out if everything is managed inside of Monday.

It would be nice to see changes made, who made them, and have an approval process similar to Google Docs. Having a panel where you can pull in whatever integrations (like Frase) could help you create documents.

The more integrated people are into the product, the better.

We need the solution to integrate with Craft. We might have to switch to Airtable as the solution doesn't integrate with Craft.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very scalable for large teams.

How are customer service and support?

I've never used technical support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple.

What about the implementation team?

We did the implementation using our in-house team.

What was our ROI?

We've seen ROI across the complete organization. I don't have a number, however, we need Monday to operate

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked into Airtable and Google Tasks.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Helps deliver more projects, perfect for small businesses, and makes scheduling easy
Pros and Cons
  • "It has allowed our small team of five to deliver more projects on time and with quality as well as instill trust with clients that their projects do not fall through the cracks."
  • "There is no price you can put on the quality, on-time delivery, and peace of mind our CEO gets."
  • "A new feature that we would love is the ability to create custom reports from our workspaces."
  • "However, larger firms need a robust CRM tool and features that Monday doesn't provide."

What is our primary use case?

We are a small team of five just starting an agency. We have no offices and needed something that everyone could access to track projects, schedules, tasks, administrative needs, contacts, and more.

How has it helped my organization?

It has allowed our small team of five to deliver more projects on time and with quality as well as instill trust with clients that their projects do not fall through the cracks. It has been instrumental.

What is most valuable?

We have found the ability to export outboards to Excel, the schedule and charts you can create, and the ability to connect boards for custom automated workflows all invaluable.

What needs improvement?

I don't have any comments on current improvements to what is there, however, a new feature that we would love is the ability to create custom reports from our workspaces. It would negate the need to export boards individually and then take all that data and make our own reports with third-party software. We'd even pay for this upgrade as I could see this being something we could gain a ROI on for clients as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the product for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable. In two years, we only had one outage and it was minimal downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is very scalable for small to medium-sized teams and businesses. However, larger firms need a robust CRM tool and features that Monday doesn't provide. For example, an enterprise would likely need accounting projections, HR functions for staff data, etc.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is great! They are quick and responsive.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and easy.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the setup in-house.

What was our ROI?

There is no price you can pout on the quality, on-time delivery, and peace of mind our CEO gets. Work is moving through the agency with no delays.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is very affordable and a great option for small businesses.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Slack and Trello as well.

What other advice do I have?

We love Monday!

Easy item creation, simple to use, and lots of features
Pros and Cons
  • "There are a lot of features and once you understand how to use them, it's quite easy to get the benefit out of them."
  • "It helps us be organized much better with current projects, potential customers, and also historic data with past projects."
  • "I would like to see is to have a brief explanation of what a certain function does."
  • "The setup was complex. We had to learn on the run."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for both sales tracking and project management. In the case of sales tracking, we have a list of potential customers qualified in different ways, as well as customers. This allows us to contact customers, review past proposals, and update them. Potential customers can vary in terms of type of industry they are in, the size of the company, requirements and needs, etc. In the case of project management, it's used for customers which we need to perform services for. It also helps us with Gantt charts and budget planning for current customers.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution helps us track sales opportunities much better. We lost many potential customers as there was a lack of follow-up or even knowledge of their existence. Now, it's easy to find quotes, specific information about customers, locations, or anything related that can provide a guideline on how to approach a certain customer with a follow-up. It helps us be organized much better with current projects, potential customers, and also historic data with past projects. In the case of ongoing projects, it helps us track expenses, dates, and other specific details that eventually make a huge difference in day-to-day activities.

What is most valuable?

We like the aspects of adding files, creating tables or workspaces, easy to use tools to update existing information in workspaces. There are a lot of features and once you understand how to use them, it's quite easy to get the benefit out of them.

Probably the feature I like the most is how easy it is to create a new item in a table. You have several ways to do it and all of them are easy and intuitive. It allows you to create new items, with all the columns available for that item. This sounds like something that is easy and should be a given in every type of platform, however, it is not easy or a given. It is a good feature that makes things easy for users.

What needs improvement?

We'd like it if it was possible to create two separate environments that mirror each other - one productive ("real") and the other for testing. That would be kind of like what some ERPs have, just to allow users to move and experiment and throw around different formats. When you finish, you could apply changes to a productive environment. That would be a cool feature.

Another feature I would like to see is to have a brief explanation of what a certain function does. Maybe a mouseover, or, as you roll the mouse to the top right of the page, it displays a text describing the end results that you can achieve with a specific function.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Sometimes the solution fails. That said, is not common. I would say it has an availability above 97%.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable, however, I would advise planning on how to organize workspaces and tables before starting to load information into them. It can save thousands of hours invested in changing or adapting once you have already started using it.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is ok. It's not perfect and not bad either.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not really use a different solution. We used Excel, however, it's not the same type of software.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was complex. We had to learn on the run.

What about the implementation team?

We did not use a vendor team.

What was our ROI?

We haven't tracked the ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's expensive, especially if you are in Mexico as we are. That said, it's worth giving it a shot. As with any other software, the information that users feed the system with will eventually determine if it is valuable or not. It doesn't matter if the software is the best in history, if the information that users provide is flawed, it will be a problem. As long as it is used correctly, I recommend Monday.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Zoho and Sugar.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

Great automation, excellent board linking, and helpful communication features
Pros and Cons
  • "Automation is definitely a favorite of mine."
  • "If I were a private business consultant, I would recommend Monday.com all day long as a no-nonsense solution to improve any business."
  • "Sometimes the limit of parts on a board (500 units) can inhibit growth."

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday.com as our primary tracking tool. We have developed several boards to help track progress from sales to employee training and reviews. We have found that dashboard views to be most helpful in giving our staff a visual into the progress of their performance. The ability to communicate back and forth as well as house files essential to the boards right on Monday is priceless to the continuation of managing our projects. That is why we primarily use this as a tracking tool. We can communicate progress and chat in real-time all while looking at the same information.

How has it helped my organization?

It has really given us a level of communication on a central platform that far exceeds what we have endured in the past. We are able to get all pertinent personnel information in a real-time manner which is key with the bulk of employees on the go or in different states. We have collaborated with our joint ventures too by using boards in a shareable manner to give them a window into the progress of the projects we are currently progressing on. It has given us a way to present items inside and outside our corporation with another layer of professionalism by using views as charts, et cetera.

What is most valuable?

Automation is definitely a favorite of mine. I use it to create efficiency in moving items to groups as well as triggering reminders to coworkers. This area of Monday.com alone has helped keep me on track with tasks as well as giving me a level of security in knowing that if I put the automation in place I can go about my day, focusing on other priorities and not having to remember all of my tasks.

I also really find the linking of boards to stream information across worth its weight in gold as we navigate anywhere from tool tracking and logging to Gantt charts which we share with customers outside of Monday.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes the limit of parts on a board (500 units) can inhibit growth. I have used multiple boards to achieve things that I had hoped to do on with one due to this limit.

Also, there needs to be an implementation of a better way to time track in order to use Monday as a payroll tracking system for employees. A clear clock in and clock out that can track up to 1/4 hours would be useful. This improvement to the time tracking would be what I would most like to see come out on a future release. It would definitely bridge so many gaps that lack in the accounting software that we use on a daily basis.

For how long have I used the solution?

Our company has been using the product for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Monday.com is very stable overall. I have only experienced a few downtimes in all the years we have used it. I can say we use it right along with our accounting software and email every day.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am impressed with the scalability options I have seen so far.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support has been great. I mentioned earlier about the part item limitations; I reached out and the team was very responsive.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not have another tool like this previously.

How was the initial setup?

If you have a basic knowledge of software, the initial set up is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

I was not part of the initial setup, however, believe it was through a vendor team.

What was our ROI?

I would estimate it was less than 6 months until we saw an ROI. Knowing what you want is the key. The next step is just getting your employees to buy-in. Once that happens, they can see the value very quickly.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If I talk about Monday I encourage people to use the Pro Plan. The lower plans are a good place to start, however, what you gain on a Pro Plan is where I believe you get the most bang for your buck.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have heard of other tools and some of our employees like Microsoft Teams, however, I feel that Monday is superior in the manner it can work with Teams and other platforms to provide a more complete service.

What other advice do I have?

If I were a private business consultant, I would recommend Monday.com all day long as a no-nonsense solution to improve any business. The capabilities are unmatched by the price point given by Monday.com.

Cost-effective, has easy collaboration capabilities, and helps track tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "Monday.com has made it much easier to keep track of a wide range of tasks whilst we have a team distributed over multiple countries and timezones."
  • "We'd like integration with SharePoint so that it becomes easier to find and share files stored in SharePoint."
  • "Without having to go to the Enterprise level, I would love to see better access controls so that we can securely build boards that we can share with clients to manage their work/projects (and in our own branding and own URL)."

What is our primary use case?

I run a small company with a virtual team spread across three countries and three different timezones. We manage all work through a range of boards on Monday. Whether that is projects like the translation of an online course, or ongoing tasks like keeping track of which expenses are missing receipts in our bookkeeping software, to a recently developed social media posting calendar we are moving more and more towards Monday

We are also looking at customer support (tickets) and a board for company objectives and KPIs.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com has made it much easier to keep track of a wide range of tasks whilst we have a team distributed over multiple countries and timezones. It saves a huge amount of email and people can update their tasks when required. Others can review progress or comment on it. It also allows my team to progress work with myself only having to be involved at the last step to review and approve.

We are progressively also saving money as we turn off other software platforms and move as much work into Monday. We recently turned off an expense social media scheduler for a combination of Monday and Canva (which we already had).

What is most valuable?

I love that on Monday.com I can invite as many 'guests' into our account as I need, that has made collaborating with freelancers much easier and more cost-effective. This was one of the key reasons I left another platform - it was simply to expensive to add freelancers as they all required their own paid access. With Monday.com I can have my core team with full paid access and then get as many freelancers onboard as required when we are working on a project.

There is also a continuous stream of improved functionality that opens up new possibilities.

What needs improvement?

Without having to go to the Enterprise level, I would love to see better:

Access controls so that we can securely build boards that we can share with clients to manage their work/projects (and in our own branding and own URL).

Integration with SharePoint so that it becomes easier to find and share files stored in SharePoint.

Integration with Canva so we can add a URL from a Canva design in our social media planner and it automatically shows a preview of the post image without having to also attach the Canva design as a PDF to the item on Monday.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for almost three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is excellent.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is excellent.

How are customer service and support?

I did reach out to support once or twice and they were helpful and fast.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Asana before and I switched as it was too expensive to have freelancers or ad hoc users (they all needed a paid account).

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the initial setup in-house, however, I did reach out to support once or twice and they were helpful and fast.

What was our ROI?

ROI has been very good.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at both Asana and Trello.

What other advice do I have?

When you put in some time and effort to understand what is possible and encourage your team to explore and play around, it is quite amazing how much you can do with the product.
