Tracks man-hours, duplicates entire tasks, and helps organize projects effectively
Pros and Cons
  • "It has helped us to divide work by assigning tasks and forecasting how busy we will be in the future."
  • "I would recommend Monday.com to all biotech companies or research labs so that they can keep detailed notes of their work and track future projects easily."
  • "There are occasional glitches in the system that cause the website to be down temporarily."

What is our primary use case?

I use this product to collaborate with my colleagues at a biotech company.

We are in a fairly small building and are able to connect with each other daily, however, we use the platform to store information and view tasks for the day. We have about four members that work on our team. The company as a whole uses the platform as a virtual lab notebook to keep records and track progress. We have multiple different projects over multiple different disciplines. It is easy to look at what is happening across the company.

How has it helped my organization?

The product has allowed us to stay more organized as a whole. Meetings and emails work well, however, there are times when people forget things or need information displayed in a way that shows dates and tasks in a vertical fashion. It is important in science to document all the specifics of an experiment. We can upload protocols or put specific notes for tasks and then refer back to what we have done in the past. It also has helped us to divide work by assigning tasks and forecasting how busy we will be in the future.

What is most valuable?

I like the ability to duplicate entire tasks at the same time as it helps when we need to repeat an experiment to just duplicate and change the dates. We are also able to keep the same updates in case we need to save those as well.

I also like the ability to put a timeline on each task if it spans multiple days to track the time spent on an item. With multiple people on our team, it is vital to have a platform that allows us to track man-hours in order to evaluate whether it is feasible to take on more work.

What needs improvement?

There are occasional glitches in the system that cause the website to be down temporarily. Otherwise, it is fairly reliable. In the next release, I would like the ability to click and drag multiple items at the same time. Some tasks we separate by task so when we duplicate tasks we have to move them separately. In addition, there should be a way to convert the board view into a calendar view. This would help when visualizing project timelines over month-long spans. Another change would be to automatically sort tasks in date order when the date is added to a task.

Great automation with easy to understand boards and helpful technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "We are a lot more organized, and have transparency throughout key areas of our business thanks to this solution."
  • "To say I am passionate about Monday.com is an understatement."
  • "I find that I cannot customize my automations for Slack as much as I need."

What is our primary use case?

We’ve used a variety of media platforms to increase the brand awareness of our clients and are endorsed by the retailers we partner with. True to our entrepreneurial approach, we are always on the lookout for exciting and innovative opportunities to grow and develop the businesses of our clients.

We required a system to assist us in various areas of our company. From managing new project roll-outs for our new media solutions to tracking our advertising campaign status and installations as well as giving us a complete and transparent view of our sales pipeline. Monday.com has given us that and more. We use Monday.com for the below areas:

  • Project management (managing the roll-out of our new in-store solutions and new online system roll-outs)
  • Sales pipeline (managing and reporting our sales pipeline)
  • Campaign Tracking (tracking the implementation and status of all our campaigns)
  • Accounts (keeping track of our billing and accounts information)
  • Meeting Minutes (we keep our meeting notes and minutes on Monday.com by using Monday.com docs)
  • Work forms and surveys for Adhoc purposes
  • Marketing campaigns. We recently started using Monday.com to manage our marketing campaigns and calendar

I use Monday.com to manage my project roll-outs, keep everyone updated on my progress by using the quick chart/graph view, manage ongoing campaign installations and progress, and track the status of our campaigns from the sales pipeline stage to operations and implementation to the final stages of the campaigns and then billing/accounts.

I will also use the system for Adhoc purposes (ie. the surveys and work forms). I absolutely love this functionality and it is so easy to use. We specialize in and sell in-store media space in retail stores across South Africa (both static and digital media) and we have become in-store advertising experts in the pharmacy environment working closely with Dis-Chem to provide an effective offering to advertisers. We also have a training application where we train pharmacists and employees in the retail stores and educate them on all the products in-store.

To say I am passionate about Monday.com is an understatement. I only wish there were more hours in the day for me to work on this amazing system. What I love the most is how customizable everything is. That is what everyone wants and needs - to make a system their own and be able to work for them. Every company is different and this is why Monday.com is the difference. I have tried ClickUp, Trello, and Favro and nothing quite compares to Monday.com.

How has it helped my organization?

We are a lot more organized, and have transparency throughout key areas of our business thanks to this solution. I have everything on Monday.com from my meetings minutes to all my campaigns and the progress of our installations, store lists with our current advertising media campaigns, etc. I have also on-boarded my entire team to use Monday.com and encouraged them to use Monday for their sales pipeline view/progress and reporting and for daily tasks and activities. I also use the dashboards and charts for easy reporting with my team.

What is most valuable?

The boards offer an amazing and clear view of my tasks, campaigns, and progress.

Automations especially with Slack and Outlook help with keeping my team up-to-date always.

Graphs and charts are valuable for reporting purposes and to track progress made.

Workforms/surveys are valuable and a very cool added feature.

My team uses all of these features. I have a huge passion for Monday.com. What I love the most is how customizable everything is.

What needs improvement?

I would love it if the milestones could appear in bold. Seeing this would help me so much. I would also like charts to have a bit more functionality without me having to purchase the 3rd party analytics and reports app.

Automations could also be a bit more flexible. I find that I cannot customize my automations for Slack as much as I need. For example, I would like to send a notification to my team on Slack when a certain date arrives and only if the "probability rating" is at 3 stars (using the rating column).

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for one year and three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Compared to other sites the solution is very stable. Now and then automation may not work immediately, or, when amended too often, it won't change. However, that is often due to connectivity or confusing the system too much.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have no doubt Monday.com will only improve regularly and eventually become one of the most powerful online tools out there.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is excellent. They understood me and helped me as soon as I needed help.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did use Trello. Whilst the KanBan feature is important in some cases I definitely needed a lot more functionality and options for my site to be more customizable. I gave ClickUp a trial and try as well and although they have a similar concept as Monday.com I didn't enjoy the the look and feel and still find Monday.com more user-friendly.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward. I know the system backward and forward.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the setup in-house. I myself completed the onboarding with the team.

What was our ROI?

In exchange for managing projects easier and keeping my colleagues and boss happy and up-to-date, as well being more efficient, it's hard to put a monetary value on it. However, there is definitely an increase in productivity and in completing tasks efficiently.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution works amazing for me and my team. I am very happy with the amount of automation and functionality we receive on the professional model package.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did look at ClickUp, Trello, and Favro.

What other advice do I have?

I'd like the solution to please kindly make milestones appear in bold. If we were given the option for our tasks to appear in italic as well - that would also be amazing as we could then easily differentiate between urgent tasks and milestones. We want more customizable charts.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Easy to assign tasks and change status with a helpful technical support team
Pros and Cons
  • "Having visibility of all projects and every team member's workload has been invaluable."
  • "It would be nice to have some more training such as webinar opportunities and refresher courses."
  • "The workload section has improved, however, there are still areas for improvement in terms of things that don't quite work as they should."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is used to manage numerous projects across multiple disciplines in a team of seven.

Our business works across various sectors and it is therefore important to be able to easily manage projects across all areas of the business.

In the past, this has proved difficult as we work within a small team, and having such a variety of differing projects on the go at once has previously seemed overwhelming. The addition of Monday.com has meant that we are able to project manage each one and have visibility of the status of each at all times.

How has it helped my organization?

The nature of our business means that we look after varying projects across different areas of the business. Prior to using Monday.com the tracking of these projects proved very timely and often things were missed. It was especially difficult to keep track of projects where we were awaiting information or initial dates had moved. Monday.com has alleviated these issues.

Having visibility of all projects and every team member's workload has been invaluable. Not only has it enabled us to keep up-to-date on each project. It has also meant that we can easily see when members of the team are overloaded and are able to re-allocate tasks if needed. This makes for a much happier, less stressed workforce.

What is most valuable?

There are many features that we've found valuable, however, the main ones being the ability to change status so that we can see at a quick glance exactly where we are with a project.

The ability to assign various members of the team so that it is clear what everyone's responsibilities are and the sub-items needed is great. Being able to create one project and then detail each element of that project via sub-items has been really valuable. It allows us to see who has done what and when, it also acts as a good process flow for every job - meaning that as soon as one person has completed their part, it can then be assigned to the next relevant person for the next part of the process.

The workload section is also a good idea, being able to easily track everyone's commitments for the week.

What needs improvement?

The workload section has improved, however, there are still areas for improvement in terms of things that don't quite work as they should.

When changing a date in this format it reverts back to the previous date unless we physically go into the board. It's also sometimes tricky to pull in the correct dates. The board limit could do with being increased in this section as for me personally with the number of different projects we have our list of boards is growing.

It would also be good to have a way of filing old boards so that they do not automatically appear in things like the work schedule.

It would be nice to have some more training such as webinar opportunities and refresher courses. I don't appear to have been invited on one of these for quite a while and I found them to be really useful in the past.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have used the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good. So far, we have not had any issues and the development of the solution means that this solution will be a stable one for us.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It has been developing ever since we first used it (almost at the same rate as we have), therefore it has grown with us, and often new features have launched just at the right time for us.

How are customer service and support?

We have had quite limited contact with technical support as the system is easy to use. That said, on the occasions where we have required additional support, it has been very timely and very good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to Monday.com, we had no other system other than the traditional method of diarising projects.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy!

What about the implementation team?

We handled the initial setup in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is reasonable for the service we receive. The team has also been very good when I have had questions and needed something outside of the offered packages.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked solely at this system. The test was good and I was able to see that it would fit our needs.

What other advice do I have?

The system has made a really positive difference to our project management.

Offers a great price, has helpful notifications, and offers a very user-friendly interface
Pros and Cons
  • "Monday.com colors are friendly to the eye."
  • "Monday.com improves our work within the organization by automating our work and making it friendly and easy to use in order to achieve our goals."
  • "If we could add a new feature to draw the plan as a chart and note priority via color, that would be great."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case for the solution is to plan our projects and to put pipelines in place for all the project participants to make sure that everyone is within the plan and making great contributions to the project.

We start our plan using the Agile approach to set our goals and tasks with the plan that already includes some phases and steps to make sure that the goal is achieved successfully and within the planned timeline.

The user interface of Monday.com is very friendly and easy to use. It's simple to assign tasks to my colleagues.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com improves our work within the organization by automating our work and making it friendly and easy to use in order to achieve our goals.

We have integration with third-party applications and can send notifications through email to the participants - making the application very interactive and keeping the project members up to date with the latest on the project and the plan.

Monday.com saves time by automating the work through the pipelines. The features are drag and drop. You can see the status for each task easily.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features that I loved with Monday.com are:

  • Notifications
  • Task status and project status
  • Monday.com colors are friendly to the eye
  • I can task assign to my colleagues
  • The screen size works with others and there is easy sharing of images and documents
  • Automation and set up of automation is done in seconds and leaves your routine tasks in the dust
  • Integration with other applications such as MS Outlook.com, MS Excel, Slack, Google Drive, LinkedIn.com, Dropbox, and One Drive is great
  • Monday workdocs for workflows are helpful

What needs improvement?

There is nothing to dislike about Monday.com.

There are some new features they need to improve within the application. For example, it would be awesome if we had some themes for each project and for each user.

If we could add a new feature to draw the plan as a chart and note priority via color, that would be great.

It would be nice to make a plan according to the historical data that Monday.com has already stored that's related to the user and the company.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Streamline processes, reduces proposal creation time, and is easy to manage
Pros and Cons
  • "There are so many automations to streamline everyday tasks and reduce click counts when doing admin work. It is incredible."
  • "My business is very streamlined and efficient from sales to project management and execution to billing."
  • "The permission settings require workarounds for some use cases."
  • "The license tiers are a little difficult to manage, as Monday sells seats/licenses in bundles of five or ten. Too many times I've had clients with six users who are forced to pay for ten user licenses due to the pricing structure."

What is our primary use case?

I run my solopreneur consulting business almost entirely on Monday.com. I also have setup workflows on Monday.com for dozens of companies across many industries (construction, HR, architecture, eCommerce, sales, etc...)

All my leads and customers are managed in Monday.com's CRM solution. I have automated workflows to convert them to customers/clients when the deals close.

Upon close, I manage all my client projects directly on Monday.com with automated tasks, reminders, due dates and invoicing.

How has it helped my organization?

My business is very streamlined and efficient from sales to project management and execution to billing. Monday.com orchestrates the entire process for me and integrates with the other tools I use to get the job done and provide the best service possible to my customers and ease of use to me and my team.

I have reduced proposal creation time to under ten minutes and automated email follow-ups and integrations all facilitated and tracked on Monday.com.

We now have a Grand Central Station for inputting customer/project/work information which significantly streamlines and accelerates the pace our business operates.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspects include:

Automations. There are so many automations to streamline everyday tasks and reduce click counts when doing admin work. It is incredible.

My Work. It is one place that links all my to-do's on one screen on Monday.com this feature/function is critical to delivering my commitments on time and knowing what my workload is

Dashboards. The ease of reporting on Monday.com is amazing, they have dozens of report/chart types that create amazing visibility into the day-to-day operations of our business, and visualize projections for sales, projects, etc. The setup for these reports is as simplified as I have seen across any reporting tools.

What needs improvement?

The permission settings require workarounds for some use cases. The enterprise plan offers the features needed, however, too many times I've had to set up weird workarounds for permissions with my smaller Monday.com customers who don't have an enterprise version.

The license tiers are a little difficult to manage, as Monday sells seats/licenses in bundles of five or ten. Too many times I've had clients with six users who are forced to pay for ten user licenses due to the pricing structure. Since the lowest tier is three users it does make it difficult to have a solopreneur justify the use of the platform, as you are essentially paying triple. At the end of the day it can still often be worth it, however, is definitely a turn-off when signing up.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for16 months.

Great dashboards, helpful templates, and makes it easy to assign team members to tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "Monday.com has provided a centralized and easy-to-use area for my team to store all of our information and collaborate together."
  • "It would be nice to have more customization around the documents, such as different title headings, fonts, etc."

What is our primary use case?

I'm a part of our talent team, so we utilize Monday.com for scheduling candidate interviews, housing important information around our best practices, as well as housing data and metrics.

We have also used it for process documentation, organizational documentation, and collaboration.

We have utilized the forms feature for being able to collect information from team members, candidates, etc. We are a team of about 15, and it's been really nice being able to have one centralized area for us to work from.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com has provided a centralized and easy-to-use area for my team to store all of our information and collaborate together. It's much easier than having to use multiple platforms. We really appreciate the customizable nature of dashboards, and it's really been a game-changer when it does come to housing documentation on our team.

Previously, we only used Google Drive, however, it was somewhat limiting since we really only used Google Docs. With Monday.com, we're able to have information stored in different formats, which is also helpful for different learning styles on our team.

What is most valuable?

My team has found the dashboards, subitems, assigning team members, and documents to be most valuable for what we do.

We don't tend to use the templates that are included in Monday.com, however, it's really nice to have flexibility over how we house our information and are able to use the platform.

The one piece that has been extremely useful is the form feature. My team has been able to use that to get candidate information and schedule interviews without as much of the back and forth through emails.

What needs improvement?

I honestly can't think of much off the top of my head—Monday.com has pretty much everything that my team would need to use on a day-to-day basis. Something that might be interesting to see in the future is having sub-items within sub-items so our team can be more granular with things.

It would be nice to have more customization around the documents, such as different title headings, fonts, etc. Just having more we can do with creating documents so we don't have to switch between Monday.com and Google Docs would be great.

For how long have I used the solution?

My team has been using Monday.com for over a year now.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use a different solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's worth the cost and it's honestly pretty user-friendly and easy to learn.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options.

Easy it is to view, use, and manipulate information
Pros and Cons
  • "It allows us to get everyone on the same page at their local terminal without having to sync everyone on ten different software solutions."
  • "Over time, we were able to move almost 90% of our workflow into Monday.com, and it has been a game-changer for us."
  • "Currently, we run our accounting on Quickbooks Online and we are forced to use their reporting tools to bring out the data we want to see. I would much rather have Quickbooks integration that allows us to more seamlessly pull transactions into Monday in real-time and allow us to manipulate that data on the Monday interface."
  • "With Google Sheets, we are using a large spreadsheet that has many calculations in it. I would like to move all of that to Monday.com; we are limited on a number of columns currently, and when we tried to transfer everything over, none of it worked, which was disappointing."

What is our primary use case?

Monday.com runs nearly our entire organization from inventory to CRM, and from our inbound lead management to our ERP. We rely on Monday.com to keep everything organized and everyone on the same page. We are a packaging company and we also manage our entire design department across full-time on-site, full-time remote, and freelance remote employees. Our prepress department also runs entirely on Monday.com. Without Monday.com we would have to use several other software solutions - which sounds like a pain.

How has it helped my organization?

Before Monday.com, we were using a program called Asana. It was very superficial for our needs and resulted in much of the more sophisticated functionality is lacking. We then switched much of what we were doing to some other software like Trello, however, I personally didn't like the interface and the UX as much. One of our employees actually found Monday.com and we began using it for smaller things. Over time, we were able to move almost 90% of our workflow into Monday.com. It has been a game-changer for us.

What is most valuable?

One of my favorite features is the ability to segment work from each department into boards all while giving everyone on the team access to all of the information. We run our entire design department on Monday.com even given the fact that our team is full-time on-site, full-time off-site, and part-time remote. It allows us to get everyone on the same page at their local terminal without having to sync everyone on ten different software solutions. The mobile app is supremely helpful as well given how easy it is to view, use, and manipulate information.

What needs improvement?

There are two main areas I would like to see Monday.com really improve:

1) Integrations with QuickBooks Online, and

2) Easier transfer of data, sheets, and specifically calculations from Google Sheets.

Currently, we run our accounting on Quickbooks Online and we are forced to use their reporting tools to bring out the data we want to see. I would much rather have Quickbooks integration that allows us to more seamlessly pull transactions into Monday in real-time and allow us to manipulate that data on the Monday interface.

With Google Sheets, we are using a large spreadsheet that has many calculations in it. I would like to move all of that to Monday.com. We are limited on a number of columns currently, and, when we tried to transfer everything over, none of it worked. That was disappointing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is fairly stable. There are some bugs when inputting data into certain places. Otherwise, the platform is rather stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is very easily scalable.

How are customer service and support?

My personal experience is non-existent. However, my team says the support is phenomenal.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have previously used Asana and Trello in an effort to manage our business.

Asana was too superficial at the time when we used it. Trello's interface was not as intuitive as Monday.com's. We switched when we saw the ease of use and the ease of manipulating both the data and the appearance.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is straightforward and very intuitive and there are plenty of tutorials online via YouTube.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the solution in-house. I wasn't aware there were vendor teams.

What was our ROI?

It's tough to say what our ROI is since we consider Monday a fixed cost.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I would advise using the free version as long as possible.

We paid for the program after we decided it was a good fit, however, I would let a team work with the program on a smaller, more isolated project first, and then decide if it is a good fit as you scale the team on the software.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before switching we did evaluate other options.

The first option we used was an Excel spreadsheet. That didn't last long. We then switched to Google Sheets, which has worked for some of our businesses, however, ultimately, as we scaled, it became too cumbersome for multiple people to work at the same time.

We then tried Asana, which was superficial in its capabilities for our workflows. From there we tried Trello. I prefer the column and row approach to managing my data, so Trello's wasn't a great fit for me personally.

What other advice do I have?

I'd advise users to get the QuickBooks integration.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Good automation with good UX updates and fast technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "Alerts come in pretty handy every once in a while just to keep up."
  • "The solution lets me track just about every single task that I assign to a team member."
  • "The new Apple Mac Book Pro lineup was launched more than two years ago and still, this platform is not compatible with the Mac App."
  • "It's very laggy a lot of times. Scrolling isn't smooth and it is really a pain when you try to open tasks with lots of content."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for project management for my startup - which involves development. I also use it to invite costumers or clients that would follow up with me in the process of making the projects true before an official launch.

It also serves to track the time to actually make payments to my assets. Even though is not fully optimized for the new Mac Book Pro line up M1, M1 Pro, and Max, the app still works for our main purposes. Definitely improving the intuitive interface is a must.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution lets me track just about every single task that I assign to a team member. It's a pretty straightforward tool. Not only can team members or assets take place in the Monday platform - my clients can too. I basically duplicate what boards I need to and the just simply change the users from assets to clients. It's kind of an inverted process to save me some time.

Monday still isn't perfect and the automations are not updated. It will take some time for my notifications to not confuse me once these are shot.

What is most valuable?

Automation is an essential feature. Alerts come in pretty handy every once in a while just to keep up. However, creating them can get you confused depending on how many members or guests you currently have assigned to an specific board.

The new UX updates have helped a little, however, since Monday has so many features, I kind of miss a lot of things that might come in handy to me. I really don't know which are the best, meaning sometimes I kind of feel I'm wasting my money as the Monday platform isn't cheap.

What needs improvement?

The new Apple Mac Book Pro lineup was launched more than two years ago and still, this platform is not compatible with the Mac App. This doesn't mean it won't work, however, the optimizing process and experiences could work better and exactly like the Web App you currently use when browsing Safari, Mozilla, Chrome, etc. Rosetta comes in handy, however, the M1 Max compatibility for the new Macs is a must. Also, there are a lot of features that the Mac App doesn't offer and the Web App does - such as payments and other things.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very laggy a lot of times. Scrolling isn't smooth and it is really a pain when you try to open tasks with lots of content.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good, although there are many features that get lost on their radar. A lot of instructions are missing in terms of the walkthrough process to set up integrations, etc.

How are customer service and support?

They're fast yet sometimes inaccurate. More examples could be better.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used to work with Asana, however, the UX/UI was terrible. Back in the day, when Monday was called Da Pulse, I gave it a go and for 5 years now I've been a loyal customer.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is complex. As I said before, it has a lot of features you might even get to know.

What about the implementation team?

The initial setup was done in-house. Everything was done by myself.

What was our ROI?

The ROI has been 50% to maybe 60% in a good month - enough to cover Monday's cost.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is pricy, however, after seeing all the benefits, it definitely is worth it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I might have looked at other options, however, I can't remember the names right now. I definitely looked at Trello as it was in the radar, however, finally, Da Pulse won.

What other advice do I have?

The company needs to keep this updated as often as they can; the iOS App needs a huge UX/UI redesign, and voice notes are just a joke.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Google
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
