Offers a straightforward initial setup phase but needs to reduce the frequency of updates
Pros and Cons
  • "The product's initial setup phase was very easy."
  • "I have had issues with the frequent updates from Webex."

What is most valuable?

The product users, one in particular, liked the tool when it worked. My company managed to switch most of the users to Zoom, which worked flawlessly.

What needs improvement?

I don't like Webex. Some of the users of the companies I used to work for could only use the tool with certain clients who used only Webex, so even my company had no other way to deal with them. It wasn't a good experience for me using Webex because it stopped working all of a sudden, and I had to reinstall it. During the last month, my company switched to WebClient, and it seemed to fix the issues we were facing with Webex. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement in the solution.

The solution's local technical support needs improvement.

I have had issues with the frequent updates from Webex. From an improvement perspective, I would like to receive fewer updates from Webex.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have five years of experience with Webex.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I don't know how to specifically rate the product's stability since it was a solution that used to function properly when it worked. I can rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution since it is available in the cloud.

When I left my previous company, I saw that there were only five licenses, and the organization had started off with around 50 users.

How are customer service and support?

I have received the solution's local technical support but not from Cisco, and I felt it was very slow and not knowledgeable. I am sure that Cisco's direct support is great.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am mainly using Zoom. Zoom is easier to use than Webex, and it also seems to be faster in the beginning phases.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was very easy. The management console is easy to use.

The deployment part is not hard as the product is on the web.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

The solution can be deployed in a few hours.

What other advice do I have?

I don't know how the product was useful in improving the work associated with remote workforce, but I know that my company used it for meetings.

The video quality offered by the product is perfect and has no issues.

I recommend that others go ahead and use the product.

I never tried to integrate Webex with other tools.

I rate the tool a seven out of ten.

Has outdated technology and chat button is difficult to find
Pros and Cons
  • "The transcripts from Webex calls get delivered to the inbox five minutes after the call. However, out of 20 people on a call, maybe only one person bothers to read through the entire transcript, which can be lengthy for an hour-long call."
  • "Although we utilize it for team collaboration, it's not very efficient. Most people don't bother turning on their video during meetings. We feel stuck in the past, relying on outdated technology."

What is most valuable?

The transcripts from Webex calls get delivered to the inbox five minutes after the call. However, out of 20 people on a call, maybe only one person bothers to read through the entire transcript, which can be lengthy for an hour-long call.

What needs improvement?

Although we utilize it for team collaboration, it's not very efficient. Most people don't bother turning on their video during meetings. We feel stuck in the past, relying on outdated technology.

We had 20 people on a call, and whenever someone wanted to use the chat, they struggled to find the button. It was like a constant hunt for the chat feature, especially when you're presenting. It could feel quite desperate at times.

What other advice do I have?

I haven't used Webex's file-sharing and messaging features much. Our work involves sensitive information, so we rely on other platforms for file sharing. However, Teams is an exception, where we occasionally share files and information, mainly through the chat function. I rate the overall product a two out of ten.

Powerful with convenient recording feature and useful mobile app option
Pros and Cons
  • "Seamless integration with Microsoft Outlook."
  • "No private chat option."

What is our primary use case?

We used Webex extensively, several times a day, for internal and external meetings as well as web and video conferencing. I'm a transformation program manager and we're a customer of Webex.

What is most valuable?

I really liked the seamless integration with Microsoft Outlook, so that I could schedule meetings. The Microsoft login was pretty convenient. The recording feature was very convenient and I had the mobile app as well which was an added convenience for me.

What needs improvement?

We had one problematic issue and that was with the recordings that were kept on the web. Initially they were auto archiving but then recordings were getting deleted after three months and we weren't aware of that change in their policy. I lost a lot of my recordings and I think they should have a longer retention period for the recordings.

A private chat option would be a good addition to the solution. If you're in the middle of a meeting and you want to have a private chat with someone, it can be a useful feature.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used this solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In most cases, the solution is stable although a couple of times we had issues with the audio conferencing feature for people who tried joining on their phones. On the whole there were no problems.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I believe scalability is good. We have 30,000 employees in our company and probably around 10,000 were using Webex. An IT team manages the solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

I contacted Webex technical support after the recordings were deleted but they weren't able to retrieve them for me. It was very unfortunate because I had no other record of those meetings and they couldn't resolve that for me because the meetings had been deleted. That was the only time I contacted technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to Webex we used an audio conferencing solution called Arkadin. We only switched to web conferencing when we moved to Cisco Webex. We had also used Skype but it wasn't very effective. We would use audio Arkadin conferencing and if we needed to screen share we'd use Skype.

We are now using Zoom and it seems Zoom requires more customizations than Webex. Zoom required setting changes before allowing everyone to join meetings and the default settings were not good. Zoom does have the private chat option which Webex doesn't have and I found that very useful.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was quite straightforward and convenient. We managed the deployment and setup ourselves.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good software and a powerful tool, I don't have any complaints.

I would rate this solution a nine out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

It enables scheduling of the audio bridge with random conference codes.

What is most valuable?

WebEx Integration to Outlook helps our users to schedule audio conference meetings with a push of a button. It is easy to use. This product enables scheduling of the audio bridge with random conference codes.

How has it helped my organization?

I don’t have an example to share. This is basically a cost avoidance solution at this time. In the future it may change the way the organization functions which we support, as soon as they drive more adoption of video and web collaboration available with CWMS.

What needs improvement?

CWMS on-premises solution does not integrate either with CMR nor with Jabber as of yet. There is no video integration with other Cisco endpoints such as DX80, DX650, or the new Cisco IP Phones 8845 or 8865 video phones. These are the areas where it could improve.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used this solution for more than 18 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There is an issue with MR2 that was fixed with a special hot fix or MR3. If you host or join an audio bridge only by phone, the meeting never ends. However, after reaching two concurrent meetings, you are not able to start a new meeting.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The CWMS large deployment is limited to 2,000 concurrent participants. There is no way to increase this limit by using the same website. A new website name and additional resources are required in order to expand; this is not easy to support.

How are customer service and technical support?

I would give the technical support a 8/10 rating.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

They started using MeetingPlace and followed the path to upgrade to WebEx on-premises as Cisco acquired MeetingPlace.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was quite straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It all depends on what your needs are. Employ this solution for only the US audio conference when you already have Cisco Workspace Licensing, then it makes sense. I don’t know what TCO would be if you need this for the international audio conference and if you don’t have the Cisco IP telephone or if you are using the Cisco user licensing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options.

What other advice do I have?

Take into consideration your user needs, what user experience you want to deliver, and of course how this solution will play with your existing unified or non-communications ecosystem.

Helps to save time by conducting meetings in a hybrid setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The tool simplifies our work by allowing us to have hybrid meetings instead of always meeting in person, which saves time in organizing these meetings. It also offers good video quality."
  • "The product needs to improve its integration. I'm not sure how difficult it is for the IT team to set up the integration. Once set up, it's easy but still not as straightforward as other platforms, like Microsoft Teams, where everything is within the same technical environment. To ensure further security, face authentication should also be added for all internal corporate users logged into the platform."

What is our primary use case?

We use the tool for internal and client meetings, webinars, and presentations.

What is most valuable?

The tool simplifies our work by allowing us to have hybrid meetings instead of always meeting in person, which saves time in organizing these meetings. It also offers good video quality.

Webex helps to prevent unwanted guests from popping up in your meeting.
The video quality is fine, and I wouldn't expect it to be better. I'm not sure about the computing resources required to optimize the video delivery, though.

On Webex, I find the option to capture the talking points of each participant valuable. Also, features like adding emojis during live presentations help in getting live feedback from participants.

The security features are quite robust because they allow you only to permit entry from participants authorized by the organizer.

What needs improvement?

The product needs to improve its integration.  I'm not sure how difficult it is for the IT team to set up the integration. Once set up, it's easy but still not as straightforward as other platforms, like Microsoft Teams, where everything is within the same technical environment. To ensure further security, face authentication should also be added for all internal corporate users logged into the platform.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for a few years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Webex is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is scalable since it can support big audiences. My company has 30 users, but I've worked in previous corporations where we had tens of thousands of users.

How was the initial setup?

The tool's deployment is complex compared to other platforms. It needs to be more user-friendly in this area. It took about 10-15 minutes to complete.

What about the implementation team?

As a user, the corporation may need an integrator to configure the setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool's licensing is expensive, but it should be cheaper.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten.

A video conferencing solution that can accomodate a large number of users
Pros and Cons
  • "I like that it can accommodate larger groups of listeners. I think in my client's organization, they use Webex for meetings with a larger group of listeners. I believe Skype For Business is not preferred. I think they use Webex or their own custom platform because it accommodates more users in one meeting."
  • "It would be better if it were more secure. I do expect Webex to keep up with hackers and their latest techniques."

What is our primary use case?

We use Webex for meetings. I get a meeting link, log in, and follow it. If a client update comes through, I follow the updates or postpone it for a day because I'm very busy. But otherwise, I simply follow the updates.

My company is a one-woman company, and I use it when working for a client and on a personal basis. I sometimes use Skype or a video call on WhatsApp, but that's not really a meeting platform. Those are then personal video calls.

What is most valuable?

I like that it can accommodate larger groups of listeners. I think in my client's organization, they use Webex for meetings with a larger group of listeners. I believe Skype For Business is not preferred. I think they use Webex or their own custom platform because it accommodates more users in one meeting

What needs improvement?

It would be better if it were more secure. I do expect Webex to keep up with hackers and their latest techniques.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been regularly using Webex for six or eight months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Webex seems like a scalable solution. I have attended meetings with hundreds of users or hundreds of listeners. But I haven't had meetings with thousands of users in one session. Large meetings have a practical problem as people want a chance to say what they want to say, but that's an organizational thing and not a technical thing.

How was the initial setup?

For me, the initial setup was very straightforward. I have been a software developer in the past, so give me software, and I will install it and use it.

What about the implementation team?

I implemented this solution.

What other advice do I have?

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Webex an eight.

Stable, secure, and works without issue
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is quite secure. Other products, such as Zoom, have had security issues raised in the media."
  • "The interface could be a bit more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

We only use the solution for virtual meetings.

What is most valuable?

The stability, as well as the performance of the solution, are very good.

What we have seen from, for example, Google Meet, is that there is some kind of disruption or some issues which we have been facing. However, with WebEx, we have not faced any kind of issue.

The product is quite secure. Other products, such as Zoom, have had security issues raised in the media. With WebEx, we are assured our internal meetings are protected.

What needs improvement?

The interface could be a bit more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

We first had it installed with the pandemic started. We've been using it since around 2020.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is quite stable and the performance is good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

How are customer service and support?

We have our own internal support. We have one manager and four or five engineers who basically handle all issues. I don't directly deal with the troubleshooting and cannot speak to the process.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I'm also familiar with Zoom and Google Meet. We use these as well as WebEx. In fact, before we started using WebEx, we used Google Meet specifically.

Prior to that, we had more physical, in-person meetings, however, the pandemic has changed how we do meetings now, and we do much more virtual meetings.

WebEx is more secure than, for example, Zoom.

How was the initial setup?

As a cloud-based solution, the initial implementation is quite simple and straightforward. It's not complete or difficult at all. There is no physical installation required.

What other advice do I have?

We're using the latest version of the solution. I cannot speak to the exact version number.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. We've been pretty happy with its capabilities overall.

I would definitely recommend the solution to other users and organizations.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
