What is our primary use case?

We are a mid-sized video production company of 15 employees and we are slowly growing. The growth is not only in the number of employees. It's also in the number of clients as well. 

As our workload increases, we constantly look for ways to improve ourselves/workflow to keep us more organized. 

We settled on Monday to help us keep track of the number of in-progress video productions we have. We also use the features to help us understand where at that we are in a project, what needs to be done and what will be done. It's an amazing tool. 

How has it helped my organization?

It has improved our organizational skills and kept us up to the task. We have many clients and our day-to-day entails us to be precise in making which tasks need to be done and who is assigned to them. 

We've used other solutions in the past, one being Asana, and Monday has been the better asset. Our team has enjoyed using it and I feel like it's eliminated any overlap and confusion that we might experience on projects, especially the larger scale ones. I believe that it also improves our outlook for new projects we can take on. 

What is most valuable?

The tabs (color coding) featured is great for distinguishing different areas of our workflow. Say that we have a music file that needs to be licensed - we use the color red (tab) to signify that the music hasn't been licensed. Once we license, we change the tab to brown. It's a small feature, however, the color-coding is something that makes completed tasks almost immediately indefinable. 

Having multiple workspaces is also helpful for different facets of the company so our different teams don't overlap. 

What needs improvement?

The tab closing feature is a bit vague at times. A better way to move and close/open tabs would be great. Sometimes, being the drop-down button is not as fast or intuitive as I would like but that may be screen dependent. 

I think adding a media feature would be great. Implementing instant access to projects for video teams might be helpful for media companies. How this would work, I don't know, but adding a visual component to indicate incomplete tasks would add an extra dimension to the user experience.

Great filter and chat box features with helpful linking capabilities

What is our primary use case?

We are a small environmental consulting firm with half our staff working remotely. We use Monday.com for project management and team communication. This allows us to maintain continuity of service for our clients and team members from anywhere in the world. Our Monday boards were an imperative communication tool when two key team members worked in Germany on a large training contract. Status updates were streamlined across all users despite a six-hour time difference and there was no loss of productivity. 

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com has improved our communication with project updates available to all team members without sending a million emails. No one is inadvertently left out of a conversation and we can all check on the status of our projects from anywhere. During the lockdown, Monday.com helped us stay connected. Those who were used to in-office work environments struggled a bit with the transition to full remote. Using our Monday boards, we quickly adapted to our virtual workspace. It allowed us to work when and how we were able in those first tumultuous weeks and still all be on the same page. 

What is most valuable?

I love the chat box feature where I can leave instructions for groups or individuals. 

Shareable boards are a great solution for clients who want to track the progress of their work orders without checking in with us directly. 

The filter and search features are also extremely helpful in compiling work orders by month, client, location, etc. 

Document links are a great tool and sync well with our Dropbox Business account. I can share document links directly without having to sort through client files. 

What needs improvement?

I wish there was an option to pay for one-on-one technical assistance rather than watch tutorial videos. Sometimes I don’t have the time or bandwidth to seek my own solutions. I love the tutorials when I have time to learn new skills, however, sometimes I just need a solution immediately so I can move on to the next thing. A fee-for-service technical assistance session, sold in blocks of time, would be extremely attractive to those of us who sometimes just need to throw money at our problems. This would be worth whatever they charged on a day with a million deadlines. 

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In five years it’s only gone down once and that was for less than an hour. The customer service team sent us status update emails so we could plan for when our boards would be up and running again. In terms of being a long-term investment, monday.com has grown with us as we added new people and clients. 

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Monday had grown with my company. I started with three staff and a dozen or so projects. We now have ten team members and over 50 projects. When we level up, so does Monday. 

How are customer service and support?

I’m disappointed that I can no longer speak with a person for technical assistance. As I mentioned earlier, sometimes I don’t have the time or headspace for independent learning via tutorial videos. I’d joyfully pay for blocks of time for sit down chats with customer service.

I was previously using Excel for project tracking. It worked for a few years when we were three people in a tiny office. As soon as we had to start emailing it back and forth to remote teams, however, it became apparent this was not our best solution.

The initial setup was super fast. I watched the tutorials and built my first board the day we started the free trial. 

What about the implementation team?

We had assistance from a vendor team. Their expertise was great. They taught us everything we needed to know to get started. 

What was our ROI?

ROI is hard to calculate as we now use Monday for everything. 

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We recently upgraded from standard to premium. It’s worth it for all the additional features. 

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We tried Slack and Microsoft Project. Monday.com was the best solution for us based on user interface, price, and how it fit with our workflow.

Monday.com is basically our office now. Although some of us did come back to the physical space, that was a choice. We’re ready for remote work and hybrid positions now with Monday.

What is our primary use case?

Our team manages a portfolio of projects. Each team member manages their own portfolio. We use Monday.com to track projects, alongside costs, time, etc. If a client sends updates, we keep track of these notes within Monday.com as this allows team members the ability to stay in the loop with the project. 

We also use Monday.com to keep record of holidays and PTO (Paid Time Off). We utilize a dashboard that allows visibility into each persons requests to help us plan when we will need additional support to ensure project management stays on track.

How has it helped my organization?

It has made the entire tracking process much easier. 

It gives an easy, high-level view of the inner workings of the business. It cuts out the need to constantly send emails and follow-up emails for the current status of a project. 

It also ensures we are not wasting time waiting on responses when we can easily check the status of a project by using Monday.com. As our team continues to grow, it also provides an easy way for new team members to ensure they are 'visible' and able to see what everyone else is currently working on.

What is most valuable?

The collaboration capabilities are great. It makes it much easier to know who is working on which projects, as well as who they are working with. It's also been super helpful to be able to 'copy' an item, as so often our projects are similar in nature so I am able to quickly use the copy feature and then change a few details to match the new project. This may only save a few seconds, however, it does make things much simpler and more efficient. I also like the ability to assign a project to another team member where needed, this makes it easier to pass on work when required.

What needs improvement?

Overall, Monday.com does a good job of providing a valuable service. It's hard for me to pinpoint any areas that I feel are significantly lacking. One area perhaps that could be improved upon would be the drag feature. For example, when I need to drag one item/project from one space and move to another. Often, it can appear to move very slowly and I end up misplacing where I am intending to put the item. Otherwise, if Monday.com could increase the refresh rate of the site, that would make things a little better also.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for over one year now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I've been very impressed with the stability; I have never had any issues. The system is constantly working and I've never experienced any system outages/unexpected delays from Monday.com

It is scalable. I believe it has the potential to be in every company.

What is our primary use case?

I work in commercial real estate in acquisitions. We use Monday.com to track properties that we are considering buying. 

We post the property along with the offering memorandum, the location, links to our internal memo, purchase price, anchors, demos, anchor term, anchor sales, notable tenants, occupancy, etc. 

We also use Monday.com to track our process throughout closing to ensure all steps are followed by all members of our team. Members of our team are notified when they need to be, and they know to check the board to see where we are in the process.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com has made us very organized. We are able to track deals, upload files and links, add notes, and notify members of our team. 

Before using Monday.com, we would email members of our team the different properties we were sourcing, and often properties would get lost in the shuffle. It was a very disorganized way to operate. 

Now, we are organized and everyone in our company can come to our acquisitions pipeline board to see what deals we are sourcing. Along with our acquisitions team, members of our investor relations and leasing team will use this board to see our deals.

What is most valuable?

The ability to export to Excel has been huge for us. Every quarter, we will export our acquisitions pipeline board to Microsoft Excel to track our deals. We will see where in the country our deals are coming from, what brokers are showing us certain deals, and what type of deals we are seeing most often. 

The ability to view the Monday board on a map is also very useful. It allows us to see where most of our deals are found. The automation is also very useful and allows us to move items to different groups automatically and save time.

What needs improvement?

In recent months, Monday.com has been down about once a week. We rely on Monday.com to track all of our deals, so when it is down and not functioning, our whole workflow comes to a halt. This is detrimental to our business model. We cannot work when it is down, so we have to wait for it to come back on.  

Additionally, sometimes Monday.com is very slow and takes a while to load. This is also very detrimental to us since we all work from home, and therefore, we often will share our screens in a meeting. When we show Monday.com it will take time away from the meeting in order to wait for everything to load.  

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for more than two years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

This is our first CRM program that works this way.

What other advice do I have?

We'd like the company to make Monday faster and cut down on the times when it is down and not working. Recently, Monday has been down a couple of times a week. It will say that they are having technical difficulties, or it just won't load. It is frustrating because we use Monday for everything so we have to essentially stop and wait for Monday to start working again before we can continue to work.

Great notes and reminders with useful automation capabilities

What is our primary use case?

I manage an art department at one of the largest flexible packaging companies in the world. Including myself, we are a team of ten people. We use Monday.com to track our art projects and the various stages of each project. 

Our sales reps also need to be kept in the loop as to where each of their projects is in the pipeline at any given time. With the amount of sales reps and the number of projects we have, Monday really helps us keep everyone on the same page in real-time. It's helped us a lot. 

How has it helped my organization?

Prior to using Monday we never had any kind of project management software to speak of. We tried Google Docs, Trello, and Smartsheet. Monday was a real game-changer for us as it gave us a much more manageable and shared platform to list all of our tasks. Since we've incorporated Monday.com, we've dropped fewer balls, greatly improved our ability to cover for employees while they are out, and keep our sales team and account coordination team all updated in real-time on each project.

What is most valuable?

Some of the biggest features have been notes, reminders, and automation. The notes section is great for keeping the most up-to-date project information in case anyone needs to take some time off. All the info is right there. Reminders are great for getting email notifications when something is due. Having that extra ping in the inbox helps these not get missed. The automation is a game-changer too, since there are so many stages of an art project, changing status and having the program do an action right away is a great way to reduce clicks. 

What needs improvement?

A little more customization on the UI would be good. There's light mode and dark mode, however, not much other customization. For what it is, it looks just fine, yet maybe something a little more aesthetically pleasing would be nicer on the eyes. 

There is an update with a new look being released soon, and I went ahead and tried it before it was released. It made the program look more like an excel spreadsheet, and literally, no one wants to see something like that. They could maybe rethink that.

I've been using the solution going on four years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is very good, it's rarely down, and, when it is, it's down for less than a few minutes. 

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is very good. It's easy to add more users and project boards.

I've not had much need to reach out for technical support or service.

The setup is pretty easy. There is a series of customizable templates or you can start from scratch if you're savvy. The pricing is competitive depending on the size of your team.

What is our primary use case?

We are using the solution for project and task management throughout the organization. Monday is being used a a primary tool at the organization in order to review all workload and tasks, rate them by importance, sort by priorities, and focus the efforts on what is important and with the highest impact based on our goals.

It is also used as a communication tool for the status and notification of every task instead of using mail as an updated tool. This maintains all the information on the same site and can be easily consulted by anyone with access either by using the computer or by smartphone.

How has it helped my organization?

It improved a lot of the task management processes and increased the communication efficiency where we used to lack or miss information.

Monday sends us notifications when a task is at risk of being late or when someone updates the information on a task. It gives us Gantt charts of the projects where everyone can easily check the progress or delays and support to take action.

Monday also keeps records of anything added, moved, or changed at a task. If some leave the company, or on vacation, or do some dates change, we have the tracking information for all updates.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of the solution is being able to develop our own task or projects trackers which are adapted to each necessity.

Not all projects require the same level of detail of information. With Monday, we are able to customize each project based on a specific necessity. It is very user-friendly overall.

We can remove, add, and modify a project or task charter easily.

We can also assign access by responsibility levels in order to protect information. This is used by giving access as read-only, edit privileges, or admin privileges as required.

What needs improvement?

Having more pre-defined formats and/or templates or having the ability to make public some formats/templates (not the information on them) would be useful.

This would support other users that could find a format that would fit their requirements and reduce the time of designing or customizing formats that could be available as a shared template.

Despite being a very friendly user tool there are people that do not have the skills to customize from zero a template and having a pre-defined shared template will make their work easier and help them to save time.

I've used the solution for one year.

The solution is very stable and user-friendly.

There is a lot of potential to scale.

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday.com as a communications solution for our different teams to effectively have individual ownership of completing assigned weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks and projects. 

Our teams using Monday.com consists of the following: sales, management, operations/administrative, production, and more. 

I have a shared workspace with my co-music director, assistant music director, and SDR, (we'll be onboarding another SDR and assistant music director soon) where we convene weekly via meetings, take notes, then post our weekly directives with deadlines in our main workspace. 

How has it helped my organization?

The tiered top-down organization of teams > groups > projects > individually assigned tasks and accountability is remarkable. 

Tagging people is super easy with "pulses" that can show up in an inbox, as a direct email, as notifications on desktops and devices, of which I use multiple devices and it's great on all of them. The interaction between different company departments is seamless and our departments contribute information to each other on a minute-by-minute and hourly basis. 

The software is designed in such a way that any company can form fit it to handle complex workflow. 

What is most valuable?

I love that Monday.com has boards that can change with a click from a list, to a calendar, to a form that you can send and collect data, etc. 

Each board is malleable even if you've been using it for a long time. Redesigning and keeping your data is pretty easy. The output of information to spreadsheets is quite simple. 

There are so many other features that I haven't even tapped into, however, I sometimes look for features and there is always some kind of plug-in that Monday.com has at the ready. There are so many support options to make sure your workspace is precisely what you need to have to improve your own job's efficiency.

What needs improvement?

I'm very satisfied and don't have much to say regarding immediate improvement feedback. If it doesn't exist, perhaps there could be a simplified view of all personal tasks that haven't yet been completed. 

"My Work" is a board that is supposed to take care of this. I find that I sometimes have used the "status" column has input values other than done, working on it, etc., which conflicts with this bigger picture, and over the years is building up in a way that looks daunting as I'm not sure how to go back and mark it another way, so I skip it. This could be my own user malfunction. 

Generally, I'm quite happy with the software. 

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using monday.com since June of 2020. I love it. 

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Monday.com seems quite stable. From June of 2020 until today, 4/20/22, I have only experienced the software being "down" maybe two times for development. It seems very stable to me even as we feed it a lot of info.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is huge. We started small and have grown to well-designed boards. We've grown to seven workspaces that I know about. Each workspace has pretty deep departmental personalities. 

How are customer service and support?

I feel that customer service has probably been pretty strong. I have never heard any grumbling from our team members regarding the usability of Monday.com or challenges in figuring out how to use it.

We mostly used Google Docs in the past for company organizing. We still do, however, we switched to Monday.com as it is way more comprehensive for project management.

The initial set up was slightly clumsy for us, however, those growing pains faded pretty quickly once the software became familiar. 

We have many team members who are adept at setting up boards and groups efficiently now. 

The initial complexity was simply getting familiar with the depth of the software, however, it was pretty intuitive and set up well to self-educate (including "help" and online tutorials, etc.).

What about the implementation team?

I don't know if we had outside assistance or not.

What was our ROI?

I don't know the price, however, we use this software every day constantly, so the return is certainly worth it.

I'm only a user of the software; I'm not privy to the costs and licensing.

What is our primary use case?

I use this product to collaborate with my colleagues at a biotech company. 

We are in a fairly small building and are able to connect with each other daily, however, we use the platform to store information and view tasks for the day. We have about four members that work on our team. The company as a whole uses the platform as a virtual lab notebook to keep records and track progress. We have multiple different projects over multiple different disciplines. It is easy to look at what is happening across the company.

How has it helped my organization?

The product has allowed us to stay more organized as a whole. Meetings and emails work well, however, there are times when people forget things or need information displayed in a way that shows dates and tasks in a vertical fashion. It is important in science to document all the specifics of an experiment. We can upload protocols or put specific notes for tasks and then refer back to what we have done in the past. It also has helped us to divide work by assigning tasks and forecasting how busy we will be in the future.

What is most valuable?

I like the ability to duplicate entire tasks at the same time as it helps when we need to repeat an experiment to just duplicate and change the dates. We are also able to keep the same updates in case we need to save those as well. 

I also like the ability to put a timeline on each task if it spans multiple days to track the time spent on an item. With multiple people on our team, it is vital to have a platform that allows us to track man-hours in order to evaluate whether it is feasible to take on more work.

What needs improvement?

There are occasional glitches in the system that cause the website to be down temporarily. Otherwise, it is fairly reliable. In the next release, I would like the ability to click and drag multiple items at the same time. Some tasks we separate by task so when we duplicate tasks we have to move them separately. In addition, there should be a way to convert the board view into a calendar view. This would help when visualizing project timelines over month-long spans. Another change would be to automatically sort tasks in date order when the date is added to a task.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This product will definitely be able to hold up against the competition.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This product will definitely be able to scale up for larger-sized companies. It has an easy to use interface and large storage capacity that will help facilitate more a larger number of personnel using it. It is simple enough to use that many types of companies can use it and the software update’s should be able handle scaling up.

How are customer service and support?

I have never had to use it.

I was not at the company at the time of choice. I presume no platform was used and thus, why Monday.com was chosen.

I was not present for the initial setup.

The cost is worth it to maintain organized teams.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Monday.com to all biotech companies or research labs so that they can keep detailed notes of their work and track future projects easily.
