For example, if I am driving my car there are often times I have to pull off the road to join into a meeting as opposed to being able to click the link and have it startup. Free to use, easy to set up, and makes it simple to connect for remote meetings
Pros and Cons
- "It's pretty easy to connect to anybody through a scheduled meeting."
- "It's pretty easy to connect to anybody through a scheduled meeting."
- "Sound is not an issue, however, with video I've always had issues when using the free service."
- "Sound is not an issue, however, with video I've always had issues when using the free service."
What is our primary use case?
I primarily use this to remotely talk with people. I use it personally now, however, I did use it at my previous company.
What is most valuable?
It's pretty easy to connect to anybody through a scheduled meeting. It typically goes well with just sound.
The initial setup is simple.
There is a free tier so that you don't need to pay to use Zoom (with some limitations).
What needs improvement?
Mostly it's been fine. There are just a few issues that I've noticed. For example, if I'm speaking with friends, it's through the free Zoom application, not the paid tier. There usually tends to be some issues that I have on my end consistently with camera reception. Even when all the features on my end are enabled, there are still issues with being able to even see myself. Sound is not an issue, however, with video I've always had issues when using the free service.
For how long have I used the solution?
I use Zoom occasionally, from time to time.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I've never tried to scale the product. I can't speak to how easy or hard it would be.
How are customer service and support?
I've never used technical support. I don't know if they are responsive when you need their help.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is pretty simple and straightforward. It's not hard to deploy it. Everything is easy to implement.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I tend to use the free tier. I can't speak to how much the paid tiers cost.
What other advice do I have?
I don't have a business relationship with Zoom.
I tend to use the latest version of the solution, however, I don't use Zoom frequently anymore. I don't know which version of the solution I'm on.
I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. Being able to work is kind of the prime objective of most applications. This tends to do that with the exception of video, which I've had too many issues with. The two times I've used it, I had that issue. When I used to work for a hedge fund and some tech startups, it always used to work. That was on the paid tier which makes me wonder if it's just the free tier that's a bit weaker. In general, however, it works well.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to deploy, simple to use, and very intuitive

- "The recording capabilities may not be as good as WebEx, however, I can't be sure about that just yet."
What is our primary use case?
Right now, due to COVID, the pandemic, most customers don't have any face-to-face meetings. We use web conferencing in its place. Some use Zoom for this kind of work. We have almost daily meetings with some customers using Zoom. Basically, it's perfect for one-to-one or small group meetings that can happen remotely.
What is most valuable?

The product is very easy to use. It's an intuitive product and it has a lot of usability, which is very, very good.

The solution is very stable.
The scalability is quite good.
What needs improvement?
I haven't explored all the features. Therefore, it's hard to discuss anything that may be missing.
The recording capabilities may not be as good as WebEx, however, I can't be sure about that just yet.
I'm not sure if Zoom is also offering hardware the way that WebEx can. If not, it may be something that they should consider.
For how long have I used the solution?

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability is possible. If a company needs to expand it, it can do so.
Everyone in our company is currently using this product. Our customers also use it, and it seems to be their preferred product when it comes to video conferencing.
How are customer service and support?
We haven't had any issues with technical support. They are okay.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I also use WebEx. Our customers mostly use and prefer Zoom, which is why we end up using it more often in our day-to-day.
How was the initial setup?
The implementation process is very, very easy. From the user's point of view, it's easy due to the fact that it's in the cloud. A company shouldn't have any problem trying to install it.
Since we do not need to host the solution ourselves, there isn't maintenance required.
What other advice do I have?
We're a customer and an end-user.
We're using the most recent version of the product.
I'd advise other users to try it out. It's very easy to deploy and simple to use.
I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten.

Analytic Architect at Analytic Design Labs
Product has been a life saver during the pandemic
Pros and Cons
- "I've been using Zoom since the pandemic started. It's actually been a life saving product under the circumstances that were thrust on everybody."
- "I've been using Zoom since the pandemic started; it's actually been a life saving product under the circumstances that were thrust on everybody."
- "The virtual background could be more smoothly integrated with the rest of the software."
- "If you don't have a green screen, virtual backgrounds are really distracting because pieces of people appear and disappear."
What needs improvement?
It would be great if during presentations participants could go back and look at, for example, PowerPoint slides being presented. This can only be done now by the person sharing the presentation and I wouldn't want to jeopardize that, but if, instead of just displaying the current screen, the system software could make the PowerPoint deck available. That would be useful to individuals that may need clarification on something and would prevent avoidable questions.
The virtual background could be more smoothly integrated with the rest of the software. I don't want to distract people with the clutter in my office, so I pull the screen down and put up the virtual background, so that I have a clean interface, and they can talk to me without being distracted by what's going on in my office. But, when people don't do that, it's distracting to see what's behind them. Getting that better integrated into the program, so that it's a first class citizen and not an appendage that's been glued on, would be a really nice thing.
People should be warned that the virtual backgrounds work much better with a green screen. If you don't have a green screen, virtual backgrounds are really distracting because pieces of people appear and disappear.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using Zoom since the pandemic started. It's actually been a life saving product under the circumstances that were thrust on everybody.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used other products like Microsoft Teams and Webex by Cisco.

The solution is very stable.
Every time, it works. It works quite well when we need it to.
The solution has a very friendly user interface.
The communication and audio conferencing features are great.
Zoom is pretty safe and secure.
What needs improvement?
While the communication and video-audio conferencing features on Zoom are excellent, unlike Microsoft Teams, there is no direct integration with SharePoint. For us, that is the disadvantage of Zoom.
Zoom lacks integrations and many extra features. Microsoft Teams, on the other hand, has many features and integrates well with many Microsoft apps.

I've been using the solution for three years at this point. It's been a while.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't had any issues with the product. We've never really reached out to technical support directly.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We also use Microsoft Teams. However, Zoom is more user-friendly and has a better interface. The advantage of Teams is the integration with Sharepoint, which Zoom doesn't have.
Previous to these, we used Skype a lot.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is pretty easy. It takes a little time. We did a deployment in our organization is six hours.
What about the implementation team?
We were able to handle the implementation ourselves. We didn't need any integrators or consultants.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay Zoom a yearly licensing fee.

As a cloud-based solution, I'm always on the latest version. I cannot speak to the exact version number I'm using right now.
